This study aimed to translate the Short Scale of Creative Self (SSCS) into Japanese and examine its psychometric properties. Aim: The purpose of this study was to translate and validate the ethical awareness scale for nurses working in Iranian intensive care units. Design: A cross‐sectional psychometric study. Methods: The study was conducted in Oct 2020 to Sep 2021, involving the participation of 200 ICU nurses. The process included translation of the original version of the ethical awareness scale into Persian, following the World Health Organization guideline, for use in Iran. The translated version was then evaluated for reliability, face validity, content validity ratio, content validity index, convergent validity and construct validity. Results: The initial reliability of the scale was established. In qualitative face validity, a few items changed slightly and all items were retained in the quantitative face validity assessment. Based on Lawshe's values, three items were removed from the scale during CVR assessment. All items exhibited acceptable CVI scores. Convergent validity was established with an average variance extracted greater than 0.5. The fit indices, such as CFI = 0.94, GFI = 0.94, RMSEA = 0.01, AGFI = 0.97 and CMIN/DF = 2.99, supported the structural model of the scale. The fit indices for the structural model of the scale were all within acceptable ranges, suggesting that the model fit the data well. Its reliability was confirmed through the test–retest method, with Cronbach's alpha = 0.84 and McDonald's omega coefficient >0.8. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate the Persian version of the ethical awareness scale for Iran (EAS‐IR) is comparable in content to the original version, demonstrating its validity and reliability for assessing ethical awareness among Iranian nurses in ICUs. The scale can be a valuable resource for measuring ethical awareness in the Iranian healthcare context and may contribute to improving ethical practices and decision‐making in ICU settings. Introduction: The PedHAL questionnaire is employed in measuring the activities of haemophilia children. The PedHALshort was developed in 2022 to determine the most relevant item for the assessment. Haemo‐QoL questionnaire assesses the quality of life of haemophilia children. Aim: Determine the validity and reliability of the PedHALshort Indonesia language version compared to the Haemo‐QoL in the Indonesian population. Methods: A cross‐sectional study was conducted in Jakarta, Indonesia. The subjects were children (4‐16 years old) with moderate or severe haemophilia A or B with repeated joint bleeding. The daily activity was assessed using the PedHALshorts and Haemo‐QoL. The validity and reliability were tested. The validity was determined with Pearson correlation test, construct validity was assessed using convergent and discriminant validity. The Spearman correlation was used to determine which domains of Haemo‐QoL correlated with PedHALshort. The reliability was analyzed using test‐retest reliability. Cronbach's α was used to determined internal consistency. Results: Fifty children were included in the study (78% haemophilia A, 70% severe group). All domains were valid (r >.284). The convergent validity test showed PedHALshort had a moderate negative correlation with physical health and sports school domain of Haemo‐QoL (r = ‐.479, p <.001). The discriminant validity test showed the PedHALshort demonstrated a moderate negative correlation with physical health (r = ‐.585), view (r = ‐.590), sport school domain (r = ‐.430) in severe haemophilia subjects. The internal consistency of the PedHALshort questionnaire was high (Cronbach's α of.85 (.74–.92)). Background: The Pediatric Eating Assessment Tool (PEDI‐EAT‐10) is a reliable and valid tool for rapid identification of dysphagia in patients aged 18 months to 18 years. Aims: To translate and adapt the PEDI‐EAT‐10 into the Italian language and evaluate its validity and reliability. Methods & Procedures: The translation and cross‐cultural adaptation of the tool consisted of five stages: initial translation, synthesis of the translations, back translation, expert committee evaluation and test of the prefinal version. The internal consistency of the translated tool was analysed in a clinical group composed of 200 patients with special healthcare needs aged between 18 months and 18 years. They were consecutively enrolled at the Rare Disease Unit, Paediatrics Department, Fondazione Policlinico Agostino Gemelli‐IRCCS, Rome. For test–retest reliability, 50 caregivers filled in the PEDI‐EAT‐10 questionnaire for a second time after a 2‐week period. Construct validity was established by comparing data obtained from patients with data from healthy participants (n = 200). The study was approved by the local ethics committee. Outcomes & Results: Psychometric data obtained from patients (104 M; mean age = 8.08 ± 4.85 years; median age = 7 years) showed satisfactory internal consistency (Cronbach's α = 0.89) and test–retest reliability (Pearson r = 0.99; Spearman r = 0.96). A total of 30% of children were classified as having a high risk of penetration/aspiration. The Italian PEDI‐EAT‐10 mean total score of the clinical group was significantly different from that resulting from healthy participants. Conclusions & Implications: The PEDI‐EAT‐10 was successfully translated into Italian, validated and found to be a reliable one‐page rapid screening tool to identify dysphagia in children and adolescents with special needs. There are few short, validated tools to assess young children's obesity‐related dietary behaviours, limiting the rapid screening of dietary behaviours in research and practice‐based early obesity prevention. This study aimed to develop and assess the reliability and validity of a caregiver‐reported short dietary questionnaire to rapidly assess obesity‐related dietary behaviours in children aged 6 months to 5 years. The Early Prevention of Obesity in Childhood Dietary Questionnaire (EPOCH‐DQ) was developed using a rigorous process to determine content and structural validity. Three age‐appropriate versions were developed for (1) infants, aged 6–12 months, (2) toddlers, aged 1–2.9 years and (3) pre‐schoolers, aged 3–5 years. The questionnaire (7–15 items) measures dietary behaviours, including diet risk from non‐core food and beverage intake, diet quality from vegetable frequency, bread type and infant feeding practices. Test–retest reliability was assessed from repeated administrations 1 week apart (n = 126). Internal consistency, concurrent validity (against a comparison questionnaire, the InFANT Food Frequency Questionnaire), construct validity and interpretability were assessed (n = 209). Most scores were highly correlated and significantly associated (p < 0.05) for validity (rs: 0.45–0.89, percentage agreement 68%–100%) and reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient: 0.61–0.99) for diet risk, diet quality and feeding practice items. The EPOCH‐DQ shows acceptable validity and reliability for screening of obesity‐related behaviours of children under 5 years of age. The short length and, thus, low participant burden of the EPOCH‐DQ allows for potential applications in various settings. Future testing of the EPOCH‐DQ should evaluate culturally and socio‐economically diverse populations and establish the predictive validity and sensitivity to detect change. Objectives: This study validated the Japanese version of the Attention‐Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder‐Rating Scale‐5 (ADHD‐RS‐5) and the Disruptive Behavior Disorders Rating Scale. We extended the ADHD‐RS‐5 by adding the oppositional defiant disorder and conduct disorder subscales to compare the two rating scales psychometrically. Methods: We examined the internal consistency, test‐retest reliability, construct validity and criterion validity of the two rating scales in 135 Japanese outpatients aged 6–18 years. Results: The internal consistency and test‐retest reliability were good for all the subscales of the two rating scales except for the conduct disorder subscale of the ADHD‐RS‐5 extended. Good construct validity was revealed by expected correlational patterns between subscales from the two rating scales and the Children Behavior Checklist. The criterion validity was good for all the subscales of the two rating scales rated by parents, while teacher‐ratings revealed substantially lower predictive ability for all the subscales. Agreement between parent‐ and teacher‐ratings of the two rating scales was generally moderate and using predictive ratings alone of both ratings showed the best predictive ability among the integration methods examined. Conclusion: The two rating scales have sound psychometric properties and will aid in screening and severity assessment of externalizing disorders in Japanese clinical settings. Objective: To develop a scale to determine parents' attitudes and beliefs regarding fluoride varnish. Design and methods: This study had a cross‐sectional design and was conducted between 2019 and 2021. A total of 810 parents were included in the study sample. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), discriminant validity, and convergent validity methods were used to estimate the scale validity. For reliability, the Cronbach alpha coefficient, item‐total correlation coefficients, and test–retest method were used. Results: As a result of psychometric analysis, the scale was found to have a three‐factor structure. The factor loads of the items were between 0.838 and 0.715. The three‐factor construct showed a good fit in confirmatory factor analysis (X2(41): 110.06, p <.001; RMSEA: 0.065; RMSR, 0.02; GFI, 0.95; and NFI, 0.94). Cronbach's α coefficient on the scale was 0.85. The item‐total correlation of the scale was found to be between 0.355 and 0.626. The test–retest intra‐class correlation coefficient of the scale was 0.72. Conclusions: This study suggests that the developed scale is a reliable tool to evaluate the attitudes and beliefs of parents toward fluoride varnish. Background: Professionals providing self‐management support to parents regarding the care for their child with a chronic condition nowadays is an important aspect of child healthcare. This requires professionals to orient themselves towards partnership and collaboration with parents. The aims of the current study were the development and validation of the S‐Scan‐Parental self‐management Support (S‐scan ‐ PS) as a tool for healthcare professionals to reflect on their attitude and practices regarding the support for parental self‐management. Methods: An existing instrument was adapted together with field experts for professionals to self‐evaluate their support for self‐management of parents. The resulting 36‐item self‐report questionnaire was filled in by healthcare professionals in the Netherlands working with children and their parents. Cognitive interviews, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and test–retest reliability analysis were part of the development and validation process. Results: In total, 434 professionals, including physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and nurses, from 13 rehabilitation institutes and 5 medical centres participated. The cognitive interviews with child healthcare professionals indicated adequate face and content validity. The S‐scan ‐ PS scale had acceptable internal consistency (0.71 ≤ α ≤ 0.91) for the total score as well as the domain scores. CFA showed acceptable root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) model fit (0.066), though not on other tested goodness‐of‐fit indices. Test–retest reliability of the instrument was moderate with an average intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) = 0.61. Conclusions: The S‐scan ‐ PS fulfils important psychometric criteria for use by child healthcare professionals to reflect on parental self‐management support. Such self‐reflection might help to improve their approach towards supporting self‐management of parents in the care for their child with a chronic condition. This study developed the Couple Interaction Pattern Scale (CIPS) based on the interpersonal theory, comprising five subscales: friendly complementary (FC), hostile complementary (HC), mutual hostile‐dominant (MHD), friendly‐dominant eliciting hostile‐submissive (FDHS), and hostile‐dominant eliciting friendly‐submissive (HDFS). The psychometric properties of the CIPS were examined through three independent studies. Study one conducted item reduction and preliminary analysis using a sample of 662 married individuals, with an additional 80 married individuals for test–retest reliability assessment. Study two validated the scale through 1207 married individuals. In study three, the effect of couple interaction pattern (CIP) on marital quality was analyzed among 310 newlywed couples using the actor–partner interdependence model (APIM). Results supported the construct validity, acceptable internal consistency, and test–retest reliability of the CIPS. Besides, concurrent validity was also proved by associations with conflictual communication patterns, marital quality, stability, emotional connection, and perceived partner support. Background: A simple self‐assessment screening questionnaire for olfactory dysfunction is direly needed in Rhinology practice, and this questionnaire should be accessible to affected individuals. The self‐reported mini olfactory questionnaire (Self‐MOQ), constructed to fill this gap, could be an important tool, especially in the era of telemedicine. Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the validity and reliability of the Arabic version of the self‐reported mini olfactory questionnaire (Self‐MOQ) in patients with olfactory dysfunction. Methodology: This cross‐sectional study included all adult patients who visited a rhinology clinic between January and June 2023 with a complaint of olfactory dysfunction and a control group. The participants completed a questionnaire that included items on demographics, risk factors of olfactory dysfunction, the olfaction VAS, SNOT‐22, and Arabic Self‐MOQ. The Self‐MOQ was forward‐ and back‐translated by qualified professional translators familiar with American English and Arabic. The reliability of the Arabic Self‐MOQ was evaluated using Cronbach's α. The test–retest reliability was assessed by estimating the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) for the total Arabic Self‐MOQ score and the individual items. The discriminative ability was examined by comparing the scores of the case and control groups. The construct validity was assessed by comparing the Arabic Self‐MOQ to the olfaction VAS. Results: The study sample included 307 respondents (196 cases and 111 controls; 34 undertook the retest). The Cronbach's α coefficients were 0.92 (total Self‐MOQ) and considered excellent. The ICC for the total Self‐MOQ score was 0.87 (95% CI: 0.757, 0.933; p <.001), which indicated good test–retest reliability. Strong correlations were observed between the Self‐MOQ items and VAS scores (r = 0.732, p <.001), (r = 0.689, p <.001). Forensic evaluations have advanced considerably with the development of specialized measures validated on forensic and correctional samples. Prior to this progress, such evaluations relied heavily on extrapolations from general psychological tests to crucial, legally relevant questions. Since then, decades of empirical work have produced forensic assessment instruments (FAIs) addressing psycholegal standards in addition to forensically relevant instruments (FRIs) examining issues central to forensic practice (e.g., malingering) but not the standards themselves. This article provides a critical examination of the development, validation, and modern applications of six published FAIs that each address one of three broad criminal forensic issues (i.e., insanity, competency to stand trial, and Miranda abilities and waivers). Evaluations of the measures' reliability and validity particularly in forensic samples are highlighted. To complement FAIs, FRIs related to response styles are briefly explored. As a primary goal, forensic practitioners are provided with the knowledge and background about FAIs to enhance their criminal forensic practices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: To evaluate the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the Cambodian Nursing Care Quality Scale. Design: Methodological design. Methods: This study was carried out in several steps: a forward‐backward translation was done, face and construct validity was measured using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and the reliability was evaluated. A convenience sampling method was employed to recruit 350 nurses from May 2021 to March 2022. Results: The exploratory factor analysis extracted six factors that explained 60.76% of the total variance. The six‐factor model is supported by confirmatory factor analysis. The Cronbach's alpha and the intra‐class correlation coefficient were 0.94 and 0.85, respectively. This study aimed to face validate an adolescent ovulatory menstrual (OM) health literacy questionnaire and to measure reliability by test–retest. Draft questions from an earlier content validation were adjusted following face validity assessment with 28 adolescents. Test–retest reliability was assessed by 89 adolescents aged 14–18 years over a two‐week period across four school sites. The mean levels of agreement recorded from the critical, interactive and functional health literacy domains were 83%, 74% and 68%, respectively. There were 44 out of 74 items with Kappa statistics >0.40. The questionnaire has confirmed face validity and adequate test–retest reliability for assessing adolescent OM health literacy. Background: Personality traits are associated with pain‐related beliefs and coping strategies, and different chronic conditions are linked through specific personality profiles. This highlights the importance of having valid and reliable measures of personality traits for use in clinical and research settings when assessing patients in chronic pain. Purpose: To translate and cross‐culturally adapt the 10‐item Big Five Inventory (BFI‐10) into Danish. Methods: A bilingual expert panel (N = 4) and a panel of laymen (N = 8) translated and culturally adapted the questionnaire into Danish. Face validity was evaluated in a group of persons suffering from recurring or ongoing painful conditions (N = 9). Data were collected to evaluate the internal consistency, test–retest reliability and factor structure (N = 96). Results: Some of the participants in the lay panel considered the questionnaire too short, considering its aim of assessing personality. Acceptable internal consistency was found for two out of five subscales (0.78 for both Extraversion and Neuroticism), while the internal consistency was non‐acceptable for the remaining subscales (0.17–0.45). Test–retest reliability was acceptable for three subscales (0.80 for Neuroticism, 0.84 for Conscientiousness, and 0.85 for Extraversion). Assumptions for determining the factor structure were not met and therefore was this analysis omitted. Discussion: Although face valid, only two out of five subscales had acceptable internal consistency and only three subscales had acceptable test–retest reliability. Background: The older person care home population is increasing. As skin ages, it becomes vulnerable to dryness, itching, cracks and tears. These are experienced by most older people, they impair quality of life and can lead skin breakdown, increased dependency, hospital stays and greater financial and human costs. Dryness, itching, cracks and tears can be prevented, but despite best practice guidance, concordance is suboptimal. Objectives: (i) develop and test a theory‐based diagnostic instrument to accurately and prospectively assess barriers and facilitators and (ii) survey barriers and facilitators to care home staff in the delivery of skin hygiene care. Methods: Instrument development and survey. Barriers and facilitators identified from the literature and pilot study were categorised in a Delphi survey of experts (n = 8) to the Theoretical Domains Framework. This model was tested in three rounds for face validity (n = 38), construct validity (n = 235) and test–retest reliability (n = 11). Barriers and facilitators were surveyed in Round 2 and reported in accordance with TRIPOD. Results: A 29‐item valid and reliable instrument (SHELL‐CH) resulted (χ2/df = 1.539, RMSEA = 0.047, CFA = 0.872). Key barriers were delivering skin hygiene care to agitated or confused residents, pressure to rush or engage in other tasks from colleagues, being busy and the unrealistic expectations of relatives. Knowledge of skin hygiene care was a facilitator. Background: Existing gerontological nursing competencies include the requisite knowledge and skills required for aged care nursing. What were not previously considered were legal and ethical aspects and access to technology, e‐health and social media. Objectives: This study aimed to validate an Australian gerontological nursing competencies scale and assess the factors associated with for aged care nurses in Taiwan. Methods: A methodological study design was used to validate the scale with a sample of 369 aged care nurses from aged care settings including nursing homes, long‐term care facilities and aged care wards in Taiwan. The cultural adaptation and psychometric validation were evaluated. The content validity, construct validity through exploratory factor analysis and the internal consistency of the scale were assessed. Results: The exploratory factor analysis extracted two levels of gerontological nursing practice, 'essential' and 'enhanced', which accounted for 80.8% of the total variance. The internal consistency, split‐half reliability and test–retest reliability were excellent. Aged care nurses with higher levels of education, aged care education as their highest degree and continued education within 6 months, and certified long‐term care education had higher gerontological nursing competencies scores than those who did not. Conclusions: This validated gerontological nursing competencies scale is a reliable and valid tool that can be implemented in future workforce planning, research and postgraduate and undergraduate curriculum and education in Taiwan and other Mandarin‐speaking locales. Implications for practice: Using validated gerontological nursing competencies scales to explain different levels of specialist practice is crucial for addressing negative views about aged nursing and explicitly demonstrate the possibilities for career pathways in gerontological nursing. Background: Bladder and bowel dysfunction (BBD) is a common problem in school‐aged children and is evaluated using questionnaires. Among available questionnaires, "Vancouver Symptom Score for Dysfunctional Elimination Syndrome" (VSSDES) is considered superior in validity and reliability. We translated VSSDES into Hindi and performed validity and reliability testing of Hindi‐VSSDES in children aged 4–16 years with lower urinary tract dysfunction (LUTD). Methods: In this cross‐sectional study, we followed Consensus‐based Standards for the selection of health Measurement Instruments recommendation to develop Hindi‐VSSDES. Forward‐translation–harmonization–back‐translation–expert committee review–prefinal version sequence of translation was followed by cognitive debriefing. One hundred and sixteen children with symptoms suggestive of LUTD and 106 healthy controls were recruited. Construct validity of Hindi‐VSSDES was assessed via structural validity (factor analysis) and hypotheses testing. In addition, test–retest reliability and internal‐consistency reliability were assessed. Results: Hindi‐VSSDES had acceptable face validity. Factor analysis identified four factors representing three domains. All a priori hypotheses were met. The questionnaire displayed excellent convergent validity and discriminative ability (area under receiver operating characteristic curve 0.83). The cutoff scores for screening and diagnosis were 7 and 11, respectively. Scores were comparable whether children self‐filled the questionnaire or parents were proxy. Scores in girls were significantly higher. It had an excellent test–retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.96) and Cronbach's ɑ was 0.62. The smallest detectable change was 4.1 points. Median time to complete the questionnaire was 7 min and majority (91%) rated it as easy. Conclusions: Hindi‐VSSDES is the first validated and reliable Hindi questionnaire for children with BBD. Clinimetric properties of responsiveness and interpretability are yet to be tested. Purpose: To translate and validate the Italian version of the Spirituality and Spiritual Care Rating Scale (SSCRS‐ita). Methods: A single‐center cross‐sectional study was performed from October 15 to November 15, 2019 in a public hospital in Milan, Italy. The scale was drafted using the back‐translation method. Prior to administration, the Italian version of the scale was assessed for content validity and retest stability by calculating the content validity index. Internal consistency was investigated by calculating Cronbach's alpha coefficient, test‐retest stability by Spearman's rho coefficient. Findings: A total n = 337 nurses participated in the survey by correctly completing the scale. The Kaiser–Meyer–Olkin test (0.81) and Bartlett's test of sphericity (p < 0.001) confirmed the adequacy of the sample to conduct exploratory factor analysis (EFA). The factorial model of EFA without rotation and then with nonorthogonal Promax rotation confirmed the presence of the four constructs identified by the original author. Conclusions: SSCRS‐ita showed promising psychometric properties in terms of validity and reliability. The results of this study, together with the lack of in‐depth studies in the Italian health and educational panorama, suggest the need to develop an educational pathway which, starting from the curricula of basic training and continuing with the updating of nursing staff, is dedicated to the detection of the spiritual needs of the patient. Implications for nursing practice: The SSCRS‐ita is the first validated Italian tool concerning the consideration of the needs of spirituality and spiritual care in healthcare contexts; the possibility to use this tool is the first step towards a better integration of the mentioned dimensions of care in a nursing care qualitative perspective in Italy. Objectives: The Nasal Obstruction Symptom Evaluation (NOSE) scale is a symptom‐specific quality‐of‐life questionnaire for patients suffering from nasal obstruction. The instrument is designed specifically for patients with septal deviation and for the evaluation of the outcome of septoplasty. The aim of this study was to validate a Swedish version of the NOSE instrument for use in clinical practice and research. Methods: A Swedish version of the NOSE was tested in a case group consisting of 125 subjects with nasal obstruction (of which 31 underwent septoplasty) and a control group consisting of 65 healthy subjects. Base line data for the case and control groups were used to evaluate face validity, known groups validity, construct validity, internal consistency and factor structure analysis. Fifty participants in both the case groups and control groups were assessed both at baseline and after 2 weeks to evaluate test–retest reliability. The participants who underwent septoplasty were assessed at baseline and after 3–6 months to evaluate responsiveness. Results: The S‐NOSE was found to be reliable, valid, and responsive. Both Cronbach's α and McDonald Omega coefficients were >0.7, and the intra class coefficient was 0.942. The S‐NOSE scores were significantly correlated with nasal patency VAS in both the case group and the control group (p <.001 and p =.018, respectively). After septoplasty, the mean S‐NOSE score were significantly improved (p <.001). Furthermore, the S‐NOSE was shown to have excellent and robust psychometric properties. Conclusion: The S‐NOSE can be recommended in both clinical practice and research to evaluate the outcome of septoplasty in Swedish‐speaking populations. Level of Evidence: NA. Introduction: Thriving from Work is defined as the state of positive mental, physical, and social functioning in which workers' experiences of their work and working conditions enable them to thrive in their overall lives, contributing to their ability to achieve their full potential at work, at home, and in the community. The purpose of this study was to develop a psychometrically‐sound questionnaire measuring the positive contribution that work can have on one's well‐being both at, and outside of, their work. Methods: We used both a qualitative and quantitative approach of item reduction, domain mapping dimensionality testing, development of "long‐" and "short‐" versions of the questionnaire, reliability, and construct and criterion validity testing. This was established in two independent online samples of US based workers (n = 1550, n = 500). Results: We developed a bi‐factor model 30‐item long‐form and a uni‐factorial 8‐item short‐version. The long‐form measures both the latent construct of Thriving from Work and six domains (psychological/emotional; work‐life integration; social; experience of work; basic needs; health). Both long‐ and short‐ forms were found to have high empirical reliability (0.93 and 0.87 respectively). The short‐form captures 94% of variance of the long‐form. Construct and criterion validity were supported. Test‐retest reliability was high. Conclusions: The Thriving from Work Questionnaire appears to be a valid and reliable measure of work‐related well‐being in United States workers. Aim: Student engagement is an important factor to the success of higher education. This study aimed to develop a Generic Student Engagement Scale (GSES) for face‐to‐face and online learning. Design: This was a cross‐sectional psychometric study. Methods: We tested the psychometric properties of GSES in 451 students at the school of nursing and health studies undertaking online and face‐to‐face learning at a local university in Hong Kong between 2016 and 2018. Results: Content validity, face validity and test–retest reliability of GSES were satisfactory. The 29‐item GSES contains five factors "self‐regulated learning," "cognitive strategy use," "experienced emotion," "teacher–student interaction," and "enjoyment of school life" with the good model fit. The GSES is a reliable and valid psychometric instrument to measure student engagement in face‐to‐face and online learning among undergraduates and higher diploma students. Background: There is a lack of a valid and reliable instrument that measures objective and subjective knowledge of evidence‐based dietetic practices (EBDP) among registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs). The present study aimed to develop and assess the validity and reliability of an EBDP Questionnaire (EBDPQ) with objective knowledge items (i.e., quiz items) among RDNs in the USA. Methods: Subscales from four existing evidence‐based practice (EBP) instruments were combined and modified for dietetics. Content and face validity and internal consistency were used to assess the full survey. Survey responsiveness and test–retest reliability were evaluated within the objective knowledge subscale. Content experts (n = 11) and nutrition professionals (n = 16) completed validation reviews. Doctoral students enrolled in a research course (n = 12) were used to analyse survey responsiveness. Internal and test–retest relability analyses utilised RDN participants (time point 1, n = 482; time point 2, n = 335). Results: Content validation resulted in a 38‐item questionnaire. Average percent agreement among face validity reviewers was 95.1%. Only the pre‐validation version of the objective knowledge subscale resulted in significantly higher post‐course scores (Mdn = 11.50) compared to the pre‐course (Mdn = 9.75, p = 0.05). The validated instrument had excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's α = 0.91); however, the objective knowledge subscale was low (Cronbach's α = 0.41). A good degree of reliability was found between the two time points (intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.71). Conclusions: The EBDPQ demonstrated adequate validity and reliability among RDNs. Future research should assess construct validity, with the responsiveness and objective knowledge subscale requiring additional evaluation through an EBDP course. Introduction: To assess activity limitations in people with haemophilia (PwH), the self‐reported Haemophilia Activity List (HAL) is widely employed, despite several methodological limitations impacting the interpretation of categorical scores. Modern psychometric approaches avoid these limitations by using a probabilistic model, such as the Rasch model. The ACTIVLIM is a Rasch‐built measurement of activity limitations previously validated in several clinical conditions like neuromuscular disorders. Aims: This study sought to develop the ACTIVLIM‐Hemo, meaning an ACTIVLIM scale version specifically adapted to assess daily activity limitations in adult PwH. Methods: Daily activities were assessed as "impossible," "difficult" or "easy" by 114 PwH (median age of 44 years) with 63 of them reassessed after 12 days. The Rasch Rating Scale model was used to identify activities delineating a unidimensional and linear scale unbiased by demographic and clinical status. Concurrent validity was determined through correlation with the HAL sub‐scores and sum score. Results: The ACTIVLIM‐Hemo included 22 pertinent activities, with difficulties independent of demographic and clinical conditions, allowing a reliable measure of activity limitations (PSI =.92) expressed on a linear and unidimensional scale in PwH (7%–100 % range, ceiling effect of 1/114) with excellent test‐retest reliability (ICC =.978). Spearman rank correlations between ACTIVLIM‐Hemo and HAL sub‐scores ranged between.623 and.869. Conclusions: The ACTIVLIM‐Hemo is an easy‐to‐administer, valid and reliable alternative to HAL in assessing activity limitations in PwH. Purpose: To develop and validate a tool to evaluate the NANDA International, Inc. diagnostic classification. Methods: The tool, EVALUAN‐I, was validated in a non‐probabilistic sample (N = 460) on Spanish Registered Nurses (September–December 2019) in two phases. First, design and construct the instrument in three steps: (1) literature review to define the construct focusing on the orientation toward nursing concepts and theoretical foundations, the level of scientific evidence, the structural configuration, the applicability, the nurses' clinical reasoning skills, and the attitudes toward nursing diagnosis, (2) substantiation of the questionnaire items and design according to the criteria for a diagnostic classification, (3) expert test to establish the face validity and content validity. The second phase revolved around (4) conducting a pilot test and measuring the temporal stability (test‐retest) and Cohen's kappa coefficient; assessing psychometric properties by measuring (5) reliability (internal consistency using Cronbach alpha and interfactor correlation) and (6) construct validity (exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis). The manuscript follows the STROBE checklist. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee with registration number 2019‐190‐1. Findings: EVALUAN‐I displayed moderate test‐retest stability, adequate construct validity, and excellent reliability. The confirmatory factor analysis provided evidence about the configuration of EVALUAN‐I in relation to nine analytical dimensions: clinical competence, nurses' reasoning skills, attitudes towards nursing diagnosis, discipline's central concepts, classification's contents, physiopathological attributes, level of scientific evidence, diagnostic precision, and conceptual correspondence between terminologies. Conclusions: EVALUAN‐I is a valid and reliable instrument, which can be used to improve the epistemological, normative, and intuitive configuration of NANDA International, Inc. in a structured, systematic manner. Implications for Nursing Practice: Comprehensive evaluation of NANDA International, Inc. in different clinical settings around the world using a validated instrument, like EVALUAN‐I, would allow strengths and weaknesses to be identified and contribute to the classification's development and practical application. Premature ejaculation (PE) is considered as a disorder of perceived loss of ejaculatory control. However, we cannot objectively estimate ejaculatory control due to the absence of an objective tool to measure it. Hence, we designed a pilot study to validate holding time (HoT), a novel objective tool, hypothesized by us, to measure ejaculatory control in men. The construct validity of this tool to differentiate premature ejaculators from normal ejaculators was also assessed in our sample. The study sample had 10 healthy, sexually active normal ejaculators, and 10 premature ejaculators, who volunteered to participate in the study conducted from May 2020 to April 2021. The mean HoT in normal ejaculators was 120.2 ± 31.7 s and the same in premature ejaculators was 32.9 ± 12.9 s. Both the normal (r = 0.983) as well as premature ejaculators (r = 0.839) had good test–retest reliability. The construct validity of HoT to diagnose PE was good with 90% sensitivity, 91% specificity, 63.8% positive predictive value, and 98.1% negative predictive value to diagnose PE when compared with diagnosis by a standard tool. It could be concluded that HoT successfully measured ejaculatory control in men and differentiated normal ejaculators from the premature ejaculators in the sample studied. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aims: Heart failure (HF) is a common and morbid condition impacting multiple health domains. We previously reported the development of the PROMIS®‐Plus‐HF (PROMIS+HF) profile measure, including universal and HF‐specific items. To facilitate use, we developed shorter, PROMIS+HF profiles intended for research and clinical use. Methods and results: Candidate items were selected based on psychometric properties and symptom range coverage. HF clinicians (n = 43) rated item importance and clinical actionability. Based on these results, we developed the PROMIS+HF‐27 and PROMIS+HF‐10 profiles with summary scores (0–100) for overall, physical, mental, and social health. In a cross‐sectional sample (n = 600), we measured internal consistency reliability (Cronbach's alpha and Spearman–Brown), test–retest reliability (intraclass coefficient; n = 100), known‐groups validity via New York Heart Association (NYHA) class, and convergent validity with Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire (KCCQ) scores. In a longitudinal sample (n = 75), we evaluated responsiveness of baseline/follow‐up scores by calculating mean differences and Cohen's d and comparing with paired t‐tests. Internal consistency was good to excellent (α 0.82–0.94) for all PROMIS+HF‐27 scores and acceptable to good (α/Spearman–Brown 0.60–0.85) for PROMIS+HF‐10 scores. Test–retest intraclass coefficients were acceptable to excellent (0.75–0.97). Both profiles demonstrated known‐groups validity for the overall and physical health summary scores based on NYHA class, and convergent validity for nearly all scores compared with KCCQ scores. In the longitudinal sample, we demonstrated responsiveness for PROMIS+HF‐27 and PROMIS+HF‐10 overall and physical summary scores. For the PROMIS+HF overall summary scores, a group‐based increase of 7.6–8.3 points represented a small to medium change (Cohen's d = 0.40–0.42). For the PROMIS+HF physical summary scores, a group‐based increase of 5.0–5.9 points represented a small to medium change (Cohen's d = 0.29–0.35). Conclusions: The PROMIS+HF‐27 and PROMIS+HF‐10 profiles demonstrated good psychometric characteristics with evidence of responsiveness for overall and physical health. These new measures can facilitate patient‐centred research and clinical care, such as improving care quality through symptom monitoring, facilitating shared decision‐making, evaluating quality of care, assessing new interventions, and monitoring during the initiation and titration of guideline‐directed medical therapy. Aim: To validate child‐adapted shortened versions of the Irritable Bowel Syndrome‐Behavioural Responses Questionnaire (IBS‐BRQ; short scale denoted BRQ‐C) and the Visceral Sensitivity Index (VSI; short scale denoted VSI‐C) for children with functional abdominal pain disorders (FAPDs). Methods: A child psychologist supervised by a child gastroenterologist was responsible for shortening the scales (BRQ‐C, 11 items; and VSI‐C, 7 items). Then, a sample of 89 children aged 8–12 years with FAPDs was used in the validation. Construct validity was assessed with correlations. Measures included gastrointestinal symptoms, quality of life, pain intensity and anxiety. Also, internal consistency, test–retest reliability, administration time and factor structure were assessed. Results: Internal consistency for the BRQ‐C and the VSI‐C was α = 0.84 and α = 0.80, respectively. Correlations with related scales were similar between child‐adapted scales and original scales, indicating construct validity equivalence. Correlations between short scales and original scales were high. Mean administration time was reduced by 47% (BRQ‐C) and 42% (VSI‐C), compared with original scales. Test–retest reliability was r = 0.72 for BRQ‐C and r = 0.83 for VSI‐C. BRQ‐C had two factors (Avoidance and Bowel control). VSI‐C had a unifactorial structure. Objective: To test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the colostomy impact score (CIS) among patients with a permanent colostomy in China. Methods: A total of 218 patients completed the survey either in the clinic or remotely and mailed their responses. Reliability was estimated based on test‐retest reliability. Validity was evaluated based on content validity, construct validity, and discriminative validity. The sensitivity and specificity of the score were analysed. The area under the curve was analysed by drawing the receiver‐operating characteristic (ROC) curve; the optimal cutoff point was calculated to assess the impact of a stoma on domestic patients. Results: The test‐retest reliability of the CIS was 0.967. The content validity was 0.98, and the construct and discriminative validities were good; sensitivity, specificity, and area under the ROC curve were 100, 48.53, and 0.806%, respectively. The optimal cutoff point for the Chinese version of the Colostomy Impact Score was 11.5. Conclusions: The Chinese version of the CIS indicated good reliability and validity, making it suitable for the evaluation of the impact of a permanent colostomy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: Various psychopathologies are associated with threat‐related attention biases, which are typically measured using mechanized behavioral tasks. While useful and objective, behavioral measures do not capture the subjective experience of biased attention in daily‐living. To complement extant behavioral measures, we developed and validated a self‐report measure of threat‐related attention bias – the Attention Bias Questionnaire (ABQ). Methods: The ABQ consists of nine items reflecting the subjective experience of attention bias towards threats. To enable personalized relevance in threat‐content, the general term "threat" was used, and respondents were instructed to refer to specific things that threaten them personally. In a set of five studies, the ABQ was developed and validated. Internal consistency, discriminant validity, test‐retest reliability, and convergent validity were tested. Results: The ABQ emerged as a coherent and stable measure with two sub‐scales: Engagement with Threat and Difficulty to Disengage from Threat. ABQ scores were positively correlated with trait anxiety, social anxiety, PTSD, and depression, as well as behaviorally measured attention bias. Conclusion: Assessing the subjective experience of threat‐related attention bias can enrich existing knowledge about the cognitive mechanisms underlying psychopathology and complement extant behavioral bias measures in research and clinical evaluation. Objective: This study aimed to validate the self‐reported brief version of the Spence Children's Anxiety Scale–Children (SCAS‐C‐8) in pre‐adolescent Spanish children. Method: Participants were 824 children aged 8–12 from a community sample. The results revealed a good fit to the one‐factor structure, adequate internal consistency (α = 0.75), and evidence of test‐retest reliability (α = 0.77). Results: The strong relationship between the SCAS‐C‐8 and emotional problems provided evidence of convergent validity. Also, the results showed factorial gender invariance. Conclusion: The SCAS‐C‐8 is a suitable instrument for pre‐adolescent Spanish children. The brevity and simplicity of this scale may facilitate early detection and help to narrow the existent gap between the presence of anxiety problems and psychological assistance‐seeking. Aims: To develop a questionnaire to identify Intensive Care survivor needs at key transitions during the recovery process, and assess its validity and reliability in a group of ICU survivors. Methods: Development of the Support Needs After ICU (SNAC) questionnaire was based on a systematic scoping review, and analysis of patient interviews (n = 22). Face and content validity were assessed by service users (n = 12) and an expert panel of healthcare professionals (n = 6). A pilot survey among 200 ICU survivors assessed recruitment at one of five different stages after ICU discharge [(1) in hospital, (2) < 6 weeks, (3) 7 weeks to 6 months, (4) 7 to 12 months, or (5) 12 to 24 months post‐hospital discharge]; to assess reliability of the SNAC questionnaire; and to conduct exploratory data analysis. Reliability was determined using Cronbach's alpha for internal consistency; intraclass correlation coefficients for test–retest reliability. We explored correlations with sociodemographic variables using Pearson's correlation coefficient; differences between questionnaire scores and patient demographics using one‐way ANOVA. Results: The SNAC questionnaire consisted of 32 items that assessed five categories of support needs (informational, emotional, instrumental [e.g. practical physical help, provision of equipment or training], appraisal [e.g. clinician feedback on recovery] and spiritual needs). ICU survivors were recruited from Northern Ireland, England and Scotland. From a total of 375 questionnaires distributed, 202 (54%) were returned. The questionnaire had high internal consistency (0.97) and high test–retest reliability (r = 0.8) with subcategories ranging from 0.3 to 0.9. Conclusions: The SNAC questionnaire appears to be a comprehensive, valid, and reliable questionnaire. Further research will enable more robust examination of its properties e.g. factor analysis, and establish its utility in identifying whether patients' support needs evolve over time. Summary: Weight bias internalization (WBI) has been identified as a global public health concern, which is associated with significant psychological and physical consequences. Despite increased interest in WBI worldwide, cross‐cultural research is limited by the lack of availability of validated measures. The aim of the current study was therefore to translate into Greek and validate the Modified Weight Bias Internalization Scale (WBIS‐M), the most widely used instrument in the measurement of WBI. An online convenience sample of 642 participants (364 women and 278 men) completed the Greek translation of the WBIS‐M and validated the measures of satisfaction with appearance, investment in appearance, weight/appearance anxiety, body appreciation, dysfunctional eating habits and global self‐esteem to assess convergent validity. Principal factor and confirmatory analyses revealed that the WBIS‐M upheld its one‐factor structure. The WBIS‐M showed adequate internal consistency, convergent validity and 3‐week test–retest reliability. Routine outcome monitoring (ROM) is an important component of evidence‐based practice. To implement ROM in their practice, couple therapists need a brief measure that can quickly assess the relevant aspects of a couple's relationship. The Couple Relationship Scale (CRS) is a 10‐item measure of relational functioning that assesses emotional intimacy, commitment, trust, safety, cohesion, acceptance, conflict, physical intimacy, overall happiness, and personal well‐being. Three studies examined the initial psychometric properties of the CRS. Study One used a sample of 300 individuals to examine the concurrent validity, factor structure, and reliability of the CRS. In Study Two, 53 individuals completed the CRS twice to establish test‐retest reliability. In Study Three, 214 distressed individuals and 135 non‐distressed individuals were used to identify a clinical cutoff and reliable change index (RCI). Objectives: Autosomal recessive spastic ataxia of Charlevoix‐Saguenay (ARSACS) is the second most frequent recessive ataxia and commonly features reduced upper limb coordination. Sensitive outcome measures of upper limb coordination are essential to track disease progression and the effect of interventions. However, available clinical assessments are insufficient to capture behavioral variability and detailed aspects of motor control. While digital health metrics extracted from technology‐aided assessments promise more fine‐grained outcome measures, these have not been validated in ARSACS. Thus, the aim was to document the metrological properties of metrics from a technology‐aided assessment of arm and hand function in ARSACS. Methods: We relied on the Virtual Peg Insertion Test (VPIT) and used a previously established core set of 10 digital health metrics describing upper limb movement and grip force patterns during a pick‐and‐place task. We evaluated reliability, measurement error, and learning effects in 23 participants with ARSACS performing three repeated assessment sessions. In addition, we documented concurrent validity in 57 participants with ARSACS performing one session. Results: Eight metrics had excellent test–retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient 0.89 ± 0.08), five low measurement error (smallest real difference % 25.4 ± 5.7), and none strong learning effects (systematic change η −0.11 ± 2.5). Significant correlations (ρ 0.39 ± 0.13) with clinical scales describing gross and fine dexterity and lower limb coordination were observed. Interpretation: This establishes eight digital health metrics as valid and robust endpoints for cross‐sectional studies and five metrics as potentially sensitive endpoints for longitudinal studies in ARSACS, thereby promising novel insights into upper limb sensorimotor control. Background: The English version of the Foot Function Index (FFI) is a reliable and valid tool for measuring pain and functional instability due to chronic lateral ankle instability (CLAI). However, its use among Arabic speakers with CLAI is limited because of the unavailability of the Arabic version of the FFI (FFI-Arb). This study aimed to translate, cross-culturally adapt and validate the FFI from the original English version into Arabic. Methods: The FFI questionnaire was translated using the Beaton guidelines. Two-hundred-and-thirty native Arabic-speaking participants with CLAI were recruited from different physiotherapy clinics in Saudi Arabia. The convergent validity of the FFI-Arb was tested using the Spearman correlation with the Arabic version Cumberland ankle instability tool (CAIT-Arab). Test-retest reliability was tested among 92 participants who completed the form again after seven days. Results: Two-hundred-and-thirty participants were enrolled (mean age = 32.09, Standard deviation (SD) = 8.64 years old). There was excellent internal consistency for the three subscales of FFI: pain (0.95), disability (0.97), and activity limitation (0.86), as for the total score (0.98). Convergent validity was analyzed by Spearman rank correlation between the new translated versions of FFI-Arb and CAIT-Arab. The total FFI-Arb and CAIT-Arab scores were moderately correlated (rho = − 0.569; p < 0.001). Subscales of FFI-Arb, such as pain, disability, and activity limitation, were also moderately correlated with CAIT-Arab (rho = − 0.565, rho = − 0.561, rho = − 0.512; p < 0.001). The construct validity was confirmed by principal component analysis (factor analysis) showing a three-factor structure (eigenvalue 1) of FFI-Arb with a total variance of 77.3%. Test-retest reliability was excellent for the total score of the FFI-Arb and all its subscales (interclass correlation coefficient = 0.984–0.999). Conclusions: The FFI-Arb is a reliable and valid tool for Arabic-speaking patients with CLAI. The FFI-Arb can be utilized in hospitals and clinics in Arabic speaking countries. Introduction: Post-stroke upper limb motor improvement can be better quantified by describing movement patterns characterizing movement quality and use of compensations. Movement patterns can be described using both kinematic and clinical outcomes. One clinical outcome that assesses movement quality and compensations used for reaching a Close (18 points) and Far target (18 points) is the Reaching Performance Scale for Stroke (RPSS). Objective: To estimate the pilot test-retest reliability and validity (concurrent, discriminant) of the RPSS in individuals with chronic stroke. Design: Retrospective data analysis. Setting: Research laboratory. Participants: Seventy-two individuals with upper limb hemiparesis =6 months prior to participation. Intervention: Not applicable. Main Outcome Measure: RPSS Close and Far Target scores. Intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) helped assess pilot test-retest reliability on a subset of 14 participants. Concurrent validity was assessed for individual RPSS items with corresponding kinematic outcomes (trunk displacement, shoulder flexion, shoulder horizontal adduction, elbow extension, trajectory straightness) using Pearson correlations. We also ran multiple regression analyses with the RPSS total scores and used kinematic outcomes as the criterion standard. Logistic regression analyses estimated discriminant validity. We divided participants into two groups based on the Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) scores (mild: =50/66; moderate-to-severe: =49/66). Results: Test-retest reliability was excellent for Close (ICC = 0.98, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.94-0.99) and Far targets (ICC = 0.98, 95% CI 0.95-0.99). Individual RPSS items for both targets were mildly to moderately correlated with corresponding kinematic values. A combination of trajectory straightness, elbow extension, and trunk displacement explained the majority of the variance in RPSS scores (47%) for both targets. The RPSS scores discriminated between individuals with mild and moderate-to-severe motor impairment for both Close (ExpB = 3.33, P < .001; 95% CI 1.70-6.52) and Far targets (ExpB = 2.59, P < .001, 95% CI 1.65-4.07). Cutoff points for transition between groups were 15.5 (Close target) and 14 (Far target). Objectives: Oral epithelial dysplasia (OED) can lead to significant information needs (IN) related to the risk of cancer development, the need for long‐term monitoring and potential intervention. The present study aimed to develop and perform preliminary psychometric testing for a novel IN instrument specific to OED. Subjects and methods: Patients diagnosed with OED were invited to complete the Oral Epithelial Dysplasia Informational Needs Questionnaire (ODIN‐Q), which was developed based on a known theoretical framework and with items generated via expert input and the literature. Face validity and content validity were initially assessed prior to finalisation of the tool. ODIN‐Q was tested for internal consistency and test–retest reliability along with construct validity. Results: ODIN‐Q consists of 35 items, categorised under six domains, and rated by dual 4‐point Likert scales (amount of information received and degree of importance). Internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha) was rated "excellent" for the scale (0.93) and both subscales (0.92/0.94). For test–retest reliability, moderate agreement was found (κ = 0.49–0.53). Regarding construct validity, a significant but limited relationship was found between ODIN‐Q and the Krantz Health Opinion Survey. Conclusion: ODIN‐Q showed adequate psychometric properties of reliability and validity. Further validation is, however, needed to assess its structural validity and responsiveness. Background: Poor sleep quality predicts poor quality of life, poor self‐rated health, and chronic diseases and mental disorders among older adults. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) is the most widely used self‐report measure of sleep quality in older adults. Objectives: This study aimed to assess internal reliability, face validity, content validity and internal consistency of the Slovenian version of the PSQI (PSQI‐SLO) for sleep quality in older adults. Methods: A cross‐sectional study was used to evaluate content and face validity as well as reliability (ɑ, ω and item‐total correlations). Residents of 13 nursing homes and community‐dwelling older adults from all regions of Slovenia were sampled. A total of 831 participants aged 65 years and older participated in the study between March and August 2019. Results: All items were successfully translated to Slovenian. A minor cultural adaptation was made to improve the clarity of the meaning of all items. None of the items had an item content validity index (I‐CVI) score lower than 0.50. Kappa indices were excellent for half of the items and good for the remainder. Internal consistency agreed with prior research (ɑ = 0.74). Intraclass correlation coefficient for global PSQI‐SLO was 0.62 (p < 0.001). The total score of PSQI‐SLO (8.09 ± 3.64 (95%, CI = 7.85–8.34)) was expected and comparable. Fifty‐eight and four tenths' per cent (95%, CI = 55%–62%) had at least one chronic disease and 40% (95%, CI = 37%–42%) lived in a nursing home. Conclusions: PSQI‐SLO showed adequate internal consistency and test–retest reliability, and adequate construct and criterion validity. In Poland, individuals enter marriages and relationships increasingly to derive personal fulfillment, creating high expectations that may elevate individuals' risk for romantic disillusionment (the perception that the relationship has not lived up to expectations and has deteriorated). Given these dynamics in Poland, a Polish‐language measure of disillusionment would open up new research opportunities. Three studies, therefore, examined psychometric properties of a new Polish‐Language Relationship Disillusionment Scale (RDS‐PL), which was translated and back‐translated with an established English‐language measure. Study 1 (pilot study) administered the English‐ and Polish‐language RDS versions 2 months apart to 19 bilingual Polish university students, yielding cross‐language test–retest reliability of 0.61. In Study 2, 214 individuals completed the RDS‐PL and other Polish‐language measures. Confirmatory factor analyses supported a one‐factor RDS‐PL structure, and significant correlations of the RDS‐PL with relationship satisfaction, forgiveness, and resentment provided convergent validity. Study 3 (N = 280) supported the RDS‐PL's convergent validity with English and Polish‐language relationship measures. Studies 2 and 3 also partially supported its discriminant validity. Aim: To perform a cross‐cultural adaptation and validation of the Neurogenic Bladder Symptom Score (NBSS) to Spanish in patients with neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction. Materials and Methods: The questionnaire was culturally adapted according to international guidelines. It was applied, twice in a range of 14–28 days. Psychometric properties were tested such as content validity, construct validity, internal consistency, and test–retest reliability. Results: A total of 82 patients between 18 and 78 years old (mean age of 43.9) participated in the study, and completed the first NBSS assessment; only 39 (32.19%) performed the test–retest study. The internal consistency was tested by Cronbach α with a result of 0.86 (95% CI, 0.81–0.90). The reliability was tested by interclass correlation coefficient with a result of 0.91 [0.87–0.95] (p < 0.0001). The construct validity was tested by Pearson correlation between NBSS and Qualiveen‐SF, which showed a moderate correlation with a result of 0.57 (p < 0.0001). One‐way analysis of variance with trend analysis demonstrated that patients who reported having a more severe problem with their bladder function had a higher NBSS total score (p < 0.001). Aim: To develop and validate a questionnaire investigating endurance athletes' carbohydrate beliefs, knowledge, information sources, and other dietary and non‐dietary practices related to exercise‐associated gastrointestinal symptoms. Methods: A questionnaire was developed by a review of relevant literature and sports‐related questionnaires, and input from five experienced sports dietitians. Item construct and format was adapted and modified from a previous questionnaire. The modified questionnaire sought information on demographics, nutrition knowledge, beliefs, intended practices, information sources and exercise‐associated gastrointestinal symptoms. A five‐phase validity process was conducted to determine content, face and construct validity, item difficulty and internal reliability of the questionnaire. The Delphi technique was applied with experts over three anonymous rounds. Items were reviewed to determine whether to keep, modify, or delete, rate the relevance of each item using a content validity index (CVI), and provide comments. A content analysis was conducted on all comments after each round. Online interviews were conducted with a pilot group of endurance athletes (n = 15) to assess item difficulty and feasibility. Nutrition knowledge was compared between pilot group of athletes and experts to determine construct validity and internal consistency. A test‐retest process was applied to a second pilot group (n = 8) to verify questionnaire reliability. Results: High CVI (≥.83) and agreement scores were obtained through the Delphi technique. High reliability (r =.942) and acceptable internal consistency (α =.53‐.78) of the questionnaire were obtained. Background: Lack of evidence regarding whether a useful examination instrument such as an multiple choice question (MCQ) quiz is reliable for assessing delirium care knowledge. Aim: To develop and psychometrically test a MCQ‐based quiz for assessing the delirium care knowledge in critical care nurses. Design Instrument development and psychometric evaluation study. Methods: The development and validation process consisted of two phases. The first Phase focused on the quiz development, which was achieved through the following steps: (a) generation of an initial 20‐item pool; (b) assessment of content validity; (c) assessment of face validity; (d) conduction of a pilot test, involving the collection of data from 217 critical care nurses through an online survey; and (e) item analysis and item elimination according to item difficulty and discrimination indices. The MCQ quiz was finalized through the development process. The second phase emphasized quiz validation through estimation of the internal consistency, split‐half and test–retest reliability, and construct validity using parallel analysis with exploratory factor analysis (EFA). Results: A final 16‐item MCQ quiz was emerged from the item analysis. The Kuder–Richardson formula 20 coefficient for the overall quiz indicated good internal consistency (0.85), and the intraclass correlation coefficient with a 30‐day interval also indicated that the questionnaire had satisfactory stability (0.97). EFA confirmed that the quiz had appropriate construct validity, and four factors could explain 60.87% of the total variance. Conclusion: In this study, the MCQ, and single best answer quiz for assessing delirium care knowledge was developed, and its reliability and validity for this purpose were demonstrated. Relevance to clinical practice: This study introduced an evidence‐based quiz designed for future use in delirium care research and education that has significant implications for MCQ‐based knowledge assessment in clinical practice. Interoception, or the sense of the internal state of the body, is hypothesized to be essential for a wide range of psychobiological processes and the development and perpetuation of several (mental) health problems. However, the study of interoceptive accuracy, the objectively measured capacity to detect or discriminate conscious bodily signals, has been hampered by the use of tasks with questionable construct validity and is often limited to studying interoception solely in the cardiac domain. We developed a novel task to measure interoceptive accuracy in the respiratory domain, the respiratory occlusion discrimination (ROD) task. In this task, interoceptive accuracy is defined as an individual's ability to detect small differences in lengths of short respiratory occlusions, assessed by means of an adaptive staircase procedure. This article describes a validation study (N = 97) aimed at investigating the internal consistency, test‐retest reliability, and discriminant validity of the ROD task. The average just noticeable difference of lengths of respiratory occlusion was 74.22 ms, with large inter‐individual variability (SD = 37.1 ms). The results of the validation study indicate acceptable internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.70), 1‐week test‐retest reliability (r = 0.53), and discriminant validity, as indicated by a lack of correlation between the ROD task and an auditory discrimination task with identical design (r = 0.18), and a weak correlation with breathing behavior (r = −0.27). The ROD task is a promising novel paradigm to study interoceptive accuracy and its role in various psychobiological processes and disorders. In this manuscript, we propose and validate a novel paradigm to measure interoceptive accuracy in the respiratory domain, the respiratory occlusion discrimination (ROD) task. This paradigm overcomes several of the considerable problems associated with popular methods to measure interoceptive accuracy. Background: Patient empowerment can improve health‐related outcomes and is important in chronic conditions, such as arthritis. This study aimed to validate the Health Care Empowerment Questionnaire (HCEQ), a patient‐reported experience measure of empowerment, for use with patients with arthritis and other rheumatic diseases. Methods: The HCEQ measures Patient Information Seeking (or Involvement in Decisions) and Healthcare Interaction Results (or Involvement in Interactions) and asks respondents to answer questions in two ways: whether they feel something happened and its importance to them. Face validity was assessed through qualitative data (n = 8, nominal group technique; n = 55, focus groups). Measure structure was assessed through confirmatory factor analysis (CFA); internal consistency was also assessed (n = 9226). Test‐retest reliability was assessed with sub‐sample of participants (n = 182). Results: We found adequate face validity of the HCEQ for patients with arthritis. The CFA indicated good fit to the data for the two‐factor structure of the HCEQ (RMSEA = 0.075; CFI = 0.987; TLI = 0.978; SRMR = 0.026). Internal consistency was strong (α=0.94 for both subscales). Test‐retest reliability was moderate for Patient Information Seeking (ICC=0.67) and good for Healthcare Interaction Results (ICC=0.77). Conclusions: The HCEQ, with modifications, demonstrated promising psychometric properties within this sample, laying the foundation for further assessment. This work supports the HCEQ as an appropriate instrument for examining experiences with and perceived importance of empowerment in individuals with arthritis and other rheumatic conditions. Aim: To verify the reliability and validity of a Japanese translation of the Satter eating competence Inventory‐2.0™ (ecSI‐2.0™) for parents of fifth and sixth grade elementary school students. Methods: Participants were parents who prepared meals for their children aged 10–12 years. A preliminary study was conducted with 11 parents using semi‐structured interviews and questionnaires, followed by a main study of 2,825 parents. Internal consistency and test–retest methods were used to verify reliability. Face and content validity were confirmed in the preliminary study, and feasibility was examined by the valid response rate and response time. Construct validity was verified using factor validity and known population validity. Results: Of the 2,825 persons surveyed, 626 returned valid responses, and among the 60 persons who received the re‐survey, 48 returned valid responses. The average score of the Japanese translation of the ecSI‐2.0™ was 33.1 (SD ± 7.8) points. Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the whole scale was.87 and ranged from.67–.79 for the four subscales. The test–retest method confirmed the scale's stability. Factor analysis confirmed that reproducibility of the four factors was similar to the original version. In the examination of known population validity, the same correlation as the original edition was confirmed. Background: Healthcare providers involved in an unexpected adverse patient safety event are affected by negative outcomes of the event and are called 'second victims'. The Second Victim Experience and Support Tool has been introduced as a reliable and valid measure to assess the second victim responses and to support recourses of healthcare professionals. Aim: The core objective of this survey was to assess the psychometric attributes of the scale within Iranian nurse. Methods: Having translated the scale based on the WHO guidelines and assessing its face validity, a board of 8 specialists assessed the content validity of the measure. In order to assess the psychometric characteristics of the questionnaire, a survey was conducted in 5 university‐affiliated hospitals of Urmia. Confirmatory factor analysis is adopted to assess the construct validity. The internal consistency and test–retest reliability of the scale were determined. Results: The Persian version of the scale consists of 29 items and 9 subscales. Confirmatory factor analysis illustrated that the scale reflects a foolproof construct validity. Cronbach α coefficients revealed the reliability of the scale (0.68–0.88). Conclusions: The survey proves to be a reliable and valid measure to evaluate the second victim responses and conceivable support resources of Iranian nurses or other Persian‐speaking healthcare professionals of the region. Implications for health policy and practice: Health policymakers ought to build up large‐scale surveys to determine the degree of second victimization of healthcare professionals so as to offer suitable support systems. Aim: To develop and test the psychometric properties of an instrument assessing career success in nurses. Background: Despite the importance of achieving success in nursing, to date, this construct has been measured using unidimensional or generic scales not fully reflecting career success as perceived by nurses. Methods: This scale development study used a large sample of nurses across 10 hospitals in Tabriz, Iran. Items were generated based on existing literature and previous, research team‐led, qualitative study, followed by testing content and face validity of the items. Exploratory factor analysis (N = 530 nurses) then assessed the underlying structure of the scale, and reliability was tested using Cronbach's alpha and a 2‐week test–retest correlation. Findings: From the initial 73 items, fourteen rated by experts as 'not relevant' and seven with poor face validity were deleted. Exploratory factor analysis further identified 13 poor items. The final 39‐item solution extracted four robust career success factors: expected career progress, providing quality care, effective self‐regulation, and person‐organization fit. Cronbach's alpha and test–retest correlation showed excellent reliability. Conclusion: This multidimensional nursing‐specific scale with very good psychometric properties is suitable for individual/group‐based decisions. Implications for Nursing and Health Policy: This instrument can assess current perceptions of career success in nurses, so work resources can be allocated to improve policies, services and training programmes to meet career aspirations of nurses and objectives of the organization. Objective: Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease (CMT) reduces health‐related quality of life (QOL), especially in children. Defining QOL in pediatric CMT can help physicians monitor disease burden clinically and in trials. We identified items pertaining to QOL in children with CMT and conducted validation studies to develop a pediatric CMT‐specific QOL outcome measure (pCMT‐QOL). Methods: Development and validation of the pCMT‐QOL patient‐reported outcome measure were iterative, involving identifying relevant domains, item pool generation, prospective pilot testing and clinical assessments, structured focus‐group interviews, and psychometric testing. Testing was conducted in children with CMT seen at participating sites from the USA, United Kingdom, and Australia. Results: We conducted systematic literature reviews and analysis of generic QOL measures to identify 6 domains relevant to QOL in children with CMT. Sixty items corresponding to those domains were developed de novo, or identified from literature review and CMT‐specific modification of items from the pediatric Neuro‐QOL measures. The draft version underwent prospective feasibility and face content validity assessments to develop a working version of the pCMT‐QOL measure. From 2010 to 2016, the pCMT‐QOL working version was administered to 398 children aged 8 to 18 years seen at the participating study sites of the Inherited Neuropathies Consortium. The resulting data underwent rigorous psychometric analysis, including factor analysis, test–retest reliability, internal consistency, convergent validity, item response theory analysis, and longitudinal analysis, to develop the final pCMT‐QOL patient‐reported outcome measure.
