The article presents an abstract of the paper titled "Effect of Nitric Oxide (NO) Donors With Different Redox Characteristics on the Modulation of Cyclooxgenase-2 in Primary Mouse Astrocytes." It investigates the effect of nitrogen monooxide on biomolecules in its redox state. The results show that synthesis and function of cyclooxygenase-2 is affected by the form of NO released.

New cationic derivatives of starch are attractive targets for biomedical applications due to their propensity for electrostatically binding with anionic biomolecules, such as nucleic acids and certain proteins. In the first step, 1‐Butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium chloride [BMIM]Cl is used as a solvent to prepare tosyl starch from starch and tosyl chloride. The reaction between 1‐methylimidazole and tosyl starch produced cationic starch salt. Starch derivatives are characterized using elemental analysis, FT‐IR spectroscopy, 13C NMR, 1H NMR, and SEM analysis. The cationic starch derivative has an antimicrobial effect on all organisms tested and the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) recorded different values depending on what species is tested. The prepared cationic starch bearing substantial permanent positive charge exhibited high water solubility and can bind strongly with anionic surface, supporting their potential for a variety of applications such as antimicrobial surfaces. A biocompatible support made of ZnGlu-coated magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (ZnGlu-MNPs) was prepared by a simple electrostatic self-assembly technique and structurally characterized. Aspergillus niger lipase (ANL) was immobilized onto the ZnGlu-MNPs with high protein loading (118.0 mg g−1) and high enzyme-activity recovery (more than 82.0 %). The as-prepared immobilized ANL exhibits high catalytic performance and a wide pH and temperature adaptability. Moreover, the stabilities and the solvent tolerance of ANL@ZnGlu-MNPs were clearly superior to those of the free counterpart. The novel ANL@ZnGlu-MNPs was easily recycled from the reaction medium by magnetic forces. Therefore, the as-prepared ZnGlu-MNPs is a promising novel carrier for immobilized enzymes. The polymerized lipids of Sphagnum fuscum cell wall fragments were found to be: composed of long chain hydroxy acids, long chain dicarboxylic acids, fatty alcohols and fatty acids. Their content, on a dry weight basis, was low in the topmost 3 cm of the shoot and increased with shoot age (and depth). A pronounced increase (16-fold) occurred in the contents of hydroxy acids which comprised 76% of the totals at the depth of 40-43 cm. The increase at the depth of 40-43 cm is considered to be at least partly associated with the frequently found destruction of the most susceptible part, the thin-walled stem centre. The results suggest that aliphatic lipid polymers are present and accumulated in cell walls resistant to breakdown. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To date, various stretchable conductors have been fabricated, but simultaneous realization of the transparency, high stretchability, electrical conductivity, self‐healing capability, and sensing property through a simple, fast, cost‐efficient approach is still challenging. Here, α‐lipoic acid (LA), a naturally small biological molecule found in humans and animals, is used to fabricate transparent (>85%), electrical conductivity, highly stretchable (strain up to 1100%), and rehealable (mechanical healing efficiency of 86%, electrical healing efficiency of 96%) ionic conductor by solvent‐free one‐step polymerization. Furthermore, the ionic conductors with appealing sensitivity can be served as strain sensors to detect and distinguish various human activities. Notably, this ionic conductor can be fully recycled and reprocessed into new ionic conductors or adhesives by a direct heating process, which offers a promising prospect in great reduction of electronic wastes that have brought acute environmental pollution. In consideration of the extremely facile preparation process, biological available materials, satisfactory functionalities, and full recyclability, the emergence of LA‐based ionic conductors is believed to open up a new avenue for developing sustainable and wearable electronic devices in the future.
