Historically, humanity has suffered and endured deadly pandemics of varying mortality rates. Irrefutably, research shows that the outbreak of pandemics is flooded by mythical and fallacious information among the public, hence stifling the prevention, treatment, and management of diseases. This paper focused on comparing selected aspects of the two pandemics, that is, HIV/AIDS and Coronavirus. This comparative analysis is important for drawing informative lessons for effective response and management of pandemics in the future. Through a literature review analysis, the paper established that both pandemics have more similarities than distinctions. The etiology and epidemiology of the diseases assume a similar cascading trajectory; the public health information about the diseases is characterized by myths, conspiracy theories, illusions, and delusions from the public. The myths associated with pandemics prevail around causation, disease transmission, and cure. The pandemics present economic paradoxes, though arguably the negatives outdo the positives. There is a need for the governments and international health custodians to be richly prepared for the pandemics in the future. This implies having special budgetary allocations for possible pandemic outbreaks, investing in vaccine development and disease surveillance, and training and skilling personnel in all social-health-related sectors. Alcohol drinking has long been reported to be common in people living with HIV/AIDS, having biological and behavioral impacts on the transmission, progression, and prevention of HIV/AIDS. A total of 7059 eligible articles and reviews published in English from 1990 to 2019 were extracted from the WOS. Results show an increase in publication volume, while citations peak for papers published in 2006. Content analysis reveals a wide-ranging coverage of topics, with the most popular being effects of alcohol consumption on ART adherence and outcomes, alcohol-related sexual behaviors, TB co-infection, and psycho–socio-cultural considerations in examining and designing measures targeting alcohol use and interventions to reduce alcohol dependence in PLWHA. This calls for more active engagement of governments in research and in designing and implementing interventions, as well as collaborations and knowledge transfer from high-income countries to developing counterparts, to effectively address alcohol use-related issues in PLWHA, moving toward the HIV/AIDS eradication target. This study describes the growth of research publications from 1991 to 2021 in the Web of Science database and points out current research landscapes in the fields of HIV/AIDS and substance use. Latent Dirichlet Allocation was used for classifying 21 359 papers into corresponding topics. The most common topics were HIV transmission, HIV infection, quality of life and mental health of substance users, and the biomedical effect of substance use. Emerging research landscapes include vulnerabilities of people who inject drugs to HIV transmission and related health problems. This study found a lack of research on health services, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral in combination with clinical evaluation and treatment services. Future investment and implementation of HIV/AIDS and substance use programs should focus on research of health services and clinical evaluation, especially context-specific interventions. Background: Antiretroviral treatment failure is a global issue, particularly in developing countries such as Sub-Saharan Africa. Prior research findings were highly variable and inconsistent across areas. As a result, the goal of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to determine the pooled prevalence of treatment failure among children receiving antiretroviral medication in Sub-Saharan Africa. Methods: To find qualifying papers, we searched databases (such as PubMed, Google Scholar, African Journals Online, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library). The data were retrieved using Microsoft Excel and exported to STATA Version 14 for analysis. To check for publication bias, we employed Egger and Begg's regression tests. A random-effects model was used to assess the pooled prevalence of treatment failure due to high levels of variability. Results: Following the removal of duplicated articles and quality screening, a total of 33 primary articles were determined to be appropriate for inclusion in the final analysis for this study. Overall, the pooled prevalence of treatment failure among HIV-infected children was 25.86% (95% CI: 21.46, 30.26). There is great variety across the included studies, with the majority of them being conducted in Ethiopia. Cameroon had the greatest pooled prevalence of treatment failure among HIV-infected children, at 39.41% (95% CI: 21.54, 57.28), while Ethiopia had the lowest, at 13.77% (95% CI: 10.08, 17.47). Conclusions: The pooled estimate prevalence of treatment failure among HIV-infected children in Sub-Saharan Africa was high. The implementation of national and international policies and strategies on ART clinic care services should be given special focus in order to reduce treatment failure in children living with HIV/AIDS. Introduction: Implementing occupation‐based practice in low‐resourced settings can be challenging especially when working with children with HIV/Aids whose daily occupation of play is often affected by their health condition and other contextual factors such as poverty or stigma. Aim: The aim of this paper is to obtain consensus from experts on the content and application of a play‐based intervention for children with HIV/Aids living in a low‐resourced setting. Methods: A Delphi study involving two rounds using an online survey format was conducted with experts from the field of child development, play and/or HIV/Aids. Consensus agreement was reached when at least 70% of Delphi experts rated each item at 3 or higher on a 5‐point Likert scale. Consumer and Community Involvement: This paper is part of a multi‐stage study that involved input and feedback from families of children who were born HIV/Aids, occupational therapists working with families of children with HIV/Aids, and input from local and international experts working with people with HIV/Aids. Results: Thirty‐seven experts completed the first round, and 35 completed the second round of the study. Consensus was achieved on the application of the Cooper's Model of Children's Play, techniques to be used and the structure of the intervention. Experts also agreed on the inclusion of a pre‐intervention workshop as part of the play‐based intervention. Discussion and conclusion: The consensus on the content and application of a play‐based intervention framework through a process of gaining expert perspectives provides confidence that the intervention planned to promote play for children with HIV/Aids living in low‐resourced settings is likely to be effective. This paper examined the behavior of the HIV/AIDS epidemic stochastic model driven by both White Noise and Lévy jumps. Initially, we demonstrated that the stochastic model under consideration has one and only one positive solution which exists globally. Based on the analytical results on the model, we obtained the threshold parameters which are responsible for the eradication and the permanence of the disease. The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is one of the few African countries where human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) transmission is still a silent issue. In the context of the DRC, the purpose of this paper was to investigate how HIV is transmitted among inmates within Congolese correctional facilities. It focuses on the ways certain Congolese correctional services' cultures facilitate the spread of HIV. The paper argues that incarceration settings allow for the importation of pre-incarceration lifestyles and risky behaviours into prisons; hence increasing the risk of HIV/AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) transmission among convicts. Methodologically, the paper followed a qualitative approach based mainly on secondary data. A content analysis was used to analyse the data. The findings of the study indicated that prisoners' preincarceration lifestyle supplemented by prison culture and settings engendered HIV high-risk behaviour among inmates in Congo's prisons. In addition, the paper appealed for the government to pay attention to prison cultures generated by the interaction between prison environments and a quest for a sense of psychological wellbeing inside correctional facilities. Background: Ready acceptance of experiences of new diagnoses among HIV-positive persons is a known personal and public health safety-net. Its beneficial effects include prompt commencement and sustenance of HIV-positive treatment and care, better management of transmission risk, and disclosure of the HIV-positive status to significant others. Yet, no known study has explored this topic in Ghana; despite Ghana's generalised HIV/AIDS infection rate. Existing studies have illuminated the effects of such reactions on affected significant others; not the infected.Methods: This paper studied qualitatively the experiences of new diagnoses among 26 persons living with HIV/AIDS. Sample selection was random, from two hospitals in a district in Ghana heavily affected by HIV/AIDS. The paper applied the Hopelessness Theory of Depression.Results: As expected, the vast majority of respondents experienced the new diagnoses of their HIV-positive infection with a myriad of negative psychosocial reactions, including thoughts of committing suicide. Yet, few of them received the news with resignation. For the vast majority of respondents, having comorbidities from AIDS prior to the diagnosis primarily shaped their initial reactions to their diagnosis. The respondents' transitioning to self-acceptance of their HIV-positive status was mostly facilitated by receiving counselling from healthcare workers.Conclusions: Although the new HIV-positive diagnosis was immobilising to most respondents, the trauma faded, paving the way for beneficial public health actions. The results imply the critical need for continuous education on HIV/AIDS by public health advocates, using mass media, particularly, TV. Background: The COVID-19 pandemic affected the self-management and care of people living with HIV, requiring adaptations in the way health services are provided. However, it is unclear how these changes impacted HIV care in low-income countries. Methods: A systematic review including the current evidence related to changes in HIV care continuum during COVID-19 was conducted through a systematic search in the online databases including CINAHL, OVID-Medline, CAB Direct, and OVID-Embase. A two-step screening process was carried out to include eligible papers and reports according to inclusion criteria. Results: From the searches we identified 21 total studies published between 2021 and 2024, the studies revealed mostly negative impacts on all stages of the HIV care continuum in low-income countries. There were impacts related to the blocking measures due to COVID-19, fear of contracting the disease, difficulties in providing resources such as income, food and transports, reductions in the provision of care from prevention to viral suppression. Conclusion: Overall, researchers identified several negative impacts of COVID-19 restrictions on HIV care continuum during pandemic; however, some observations indicated indirect positive impacts on some aspects of HIV care. Decline in HIV care practices during pandemic compared to before pandemic were observed including using preventative methods, counseling and testing, receiving HIV healthcare services, HIV medical appointments, antiretroviral adherence, engagement with treatment, and poor viral suppression. Introduction: The purpose of the study was to determine the volume and extent of general human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV)/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) research in Turkey as well as the coverage of national HIV/AIDS research agenda. Material and methods: Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection advanced search engine was applied to conduct bibliometric search. "HIV or AIDS or HIV/AIDS or Human immunodeficiency virus or HIV-1 or HIV-2 or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome" and "Turkey" were used as search key words. In addition, the study included "Language = English", "Document area = medicine" and "Document type = Article". We also selected science citation index expanded (SCI-EXPANDED) and social sciences citation index (SSCI) as Web of Science indexes. The data in WoS improved all information on publications, including fields of study, institutions, group authors, funding agencies, journals, citations, and co-authorship. Results: In total, 313 articles were found. The first document was published in 1996, and 310 (99%) papers were published in the last 20 years. The documents were mostly (62.300%) published in science citation index expanded (SCI-EXPANDED) indexed journals. Most of the publications were from medicine general internal (33.866%) area. The top-ranked affiliations from Turkey in HIV/AIDS research were Istanbul University (19.169%), Ege University (10.863%), University of Health Sciences (9.265%), and Hacettepe University (8.626%). ACTHIV-IST (ACTion against HIV in Istanbul) study group (n = 3, 0.958) was Turkey's most productive HIV/AIDS research group. 87.220% of the studies were not funded. Conclusions: According to the findings, Turkey has limited HIV/AIDS research output. Furthermore, the majority of investigations were conducted by only a few centers. Because the study covered the entire country, and there are more centers that follow HIV/AIDS patients, these centers should also take part in the research. India continues to grapple with a significant burden of HIV infections. Despite notable progress in prevention and treatment efforts, multiple challenges, such as high-risk populations, inadequate testing facilities, and limited access to healthcare in remote areas, persist. Though the Government of India offers HIV-1 plasma viral load testing at various medical centers, aiding treatment decisions and monitoring antiretroviral therapy effectiveness, enhancing care for individuals living with HIV under the National AIDS Control Program (NACP), the nation's large population and diverse demographics further complicate its outreach and response. Hence, strategic interventions and alternative methods of testing remain crucial to curbing HIV transmission and improving the quality of life for those affected. Dried blood spot (DBS) sampling has emerged as a convenient and cost-effective alternative for HIV-1 viral load testing, revolutionizing the landscape of diagnostic and monitoring strategies for HIV infection. Though the plasma-based viral load remains the gold standard for monitoring HIV-1, DBS-based HIV-1 viral load testing holds immense promise for improving access to care, particularly in resource-limited settings where traditional plasma-based methods may be logistically challenging. DBS entails the collection of a small volume of blood onto filter paper, followed by drying and storage. This approach offers numerous advantages, including simplified sample collection, transportation, and storage, reducing the need for cold-chain logistics. Recent studies have demonstrated the feasibility and accuracy of DBS-based HIV-1 viral load testing, revealing a strong correlation between DBS and plasma measurements. Its implementation can enhance the early detection of treatment failure, guide therapeutic decisions, and ultimately contribute to better clinical outcomes for HIV-infected individuals. Introduction: Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are harmful and unintended reactions to medicines given at standard doses through a proper route of administration for the purpose of prophylaxis, diagnosis, or treatment. Objective: The objective of this research paper was to assess median time to development of ADRs and associated factors among children HIV positive patients on antiretroviral treatment (ART) in North West Amhara Specialized Hospitals. Methods: The adverse drug effect survival time was estimated using the Kaplan–Meier survival method and log‐rank test curves was applied for analyze "time‐to‐event" data. Cox regression model was used to identify the associated factors. Adjusted hazard ratios with their respective 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated and a value of p less than 0.05 was used to declare the presence of a significant association. Result: The overall incidence of ADRs was 0.67 (95% CI: 3.74–4.44) per 10,000 person‐year observation, with a median of 57 months. Adults are presenting with opportunistic Infections (OIs) experiences, baseline CD4 < 200 cells/µL counts, 1e, tenofovir disoproxil fumarate–lamivudine–efavirenz ART regimen, bedridden baseline functional status, World Health Organization (WHO) clinical stage II and III were notably associated with the incidence of ADRs development. Conclusion: ADRs were uncommon in this study. predictors, such as OIs experiences, a low CD4 count, ART regimen, an advanced WHO stage, and bedridden functional status were significantly associated with ADRs. The background of this paper starts with the history and significance of the author's relationship to the Campaign, U=U; Undetectable equals Untransmissable as an Indigenous woman and well-known advocate living with HIV. The methods used in this paper explored an adaptation of a thriving indigenous Health Framework implemented in New Zealand for over 40 years. We anticipate the methods used in this paper along with the U=U Campaign will make the U=U relevant to other Indigenous Peoples. The common threads of the cultures are our creation stories and our rendition of the Health Circle or the Four Pillars. We interviewed and surveyed key community members, family, people living with HIV, and social workers that work in those communities over a period of 6 months; 36 people participated. We shared personal stories anecdotally of her experiences. The results were a health model comparison of U=U from a Maori worldview. Each aspect of the Four Pillars or cornerstones of the model is explained from a personal experience perspective, which is inclusive and reflects a process familiar to Indigenous Peoples and worldviews. We are using stories to relay that information from that particular worldview. In conclusion, after much deliberation, discussions with key people, and personal experiences, we can tie the concept of U=U to an intrinsic framework that other Indigenous Peoples and communities can easily interpret. Background: As an effective strategy that reduces transmission among people at high risk of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) has revolutionized HIV prevention. Our study aims to provide a reference for the development of relevant research and the formulation of prevention and control policies for HIV. Methods: Through CiteSpace software, this study aims to present a comprehensive overview of the HIV PrEP knowledge structure, hotspots, and frontiers. We searched the Web of Science Core Collection for studies published between 2012 and 2022 related to HIV PrEP, and 3,243 papers remained after selection. Results: The number of HIV PrEP publications has increased over the past few years. A close integration and exchange of HIV PrEP research findings has taken place between countries and authors. Major ongoing research trends include long-term injection PrEP, the impact of chlamydia on HIV PrEP, and individual awareness of and attitudes toward HIV PrEP. Thus, more attention should be paid to innovations and breakthroughs in drugs, the factors that affect HIV transmission and susceptibility, and the future promotion of public acceptance of HIV PrEP. Conclusion: This study offers a systematic, objective, and comprehensive analysis of the related articles. This paper examines how experiences with a previous pandemic, particularly HIV/AIDS, may have informed approaches to COVID-19, with a focus on sexual orientation. Method: The sample was drawn from an online survey of Canadians 55+ conducted in 2020, comprising 1143 persons (mean age = 67; 88 gay or bisexual (GB) men, 65 lesbian or bisexual (LB) women, 818 heterosexual women, and 172 heterosexual men). Respondents reported if they, or someone close to them, "had been affected by" one or more pandemics and whether COVID-19 led them to "think more about their prior epidemic/pandemic experiences" and/or feel they "couldn't handle it again". Correlated items reflecting feeling "they have been here before"; "prepared for what is happening"; and "like they needed to act or do something" formed a scale named "agentic familiarity". Results: About half of respondents reported thinking about their previous pandemic experience; about 5% reporting feeling like "they couldn't handle it again" with no gender or sexual orientation differences. Higher agentic familiarity scores were found for GB men and for those with experience with HIV/AIDS vs. other pandemics. Discussion: These outcomes speak to resilience and growth experienced by LGBT (and especially GB) persons through shared stigma and trauma—with implications for current pandemic experiences and future actions, like advance care planning. HIV/AIDS remains one of the most significant global health challenges, affecting millions of people worldwide. Since the inception of the disease, various global response strategies have been devised and implemented, aiming to mitigate its impact and ultimately eradicate it. While these strategies have yielded remarkable progress, there are still key barriers impeding the global fight against the disease. This paper, thus, delves into the key global response strategies employed in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic since its inception, examines the impediments to their successful implementation, and outlines the trajectory towards a world without AIDS. To continue the momentum in the fight against HIV/AIDS, it is imperative to adopt a multifaceted approach that addresses the existing barriers. One pivotal aspect of this approach involves intensifying efforts to improve the uptake of HIV testing. Encouraging individuals to get tested is a critical step, as it not only aids in identifying more cases of HIV infection but also facilitates the linkage of those affected to appropriate care and support services. This essay argues for the utility of a platform-studies approach alongside textual analysis when studying the politics of sexual representation in contemporary television programming. Using a corpus of four LGBTQ+-themed programs that represent queer and trans sexualities and HIV/AIDS, the paper argues that funding mechanisms play a constitutive role in determining the kinds of sexual diversity that can circulate via streaming technologies. Comparing and contrasting content created for SVODs, BVODs, and video-sharing platforms, the essay considers the impact that the economic diversity of television's multiplatform ecology has on the sexual diversity of content that circulates there. Purposefully combining an analysis of online TV with social media entertainment, the essay casts 'streaming television' as a wide, varied category whose relationship to questions of representational diversity is more complex than existing scholarship on these issues sometimes suggests. Situating its analysis in the literatures of platform studies, media industry studies, and television's politics of LGBTQ + representation, the essay shifts the purview of 'diversity' away from representations of identity and toward diversities of funding mechanisms and diversities of sexual acts and practices. The essay argues for the necessity of textual analysis to properly articulate the relationship between platforms and the politics of sexual representation in the content that they circulate. In 2005, an applied theatre community outreach programme was launched to address low levels of HIV/AIDS awareness among farm workers in the Cape Winelands of South Africa. In cooperation with HIV testing organizations, the Lucky , the Hero mini-musical promoted regular HIV testing, condom use and acceptance of people living with HIV until being retired in 2017. Applying principles of the health belief model to interview data collected in 2015 from former Lucky, the Hero participants, this paper examines the effectiveness of the theatre production to achieve the behavioural outcomes of (i) encouraging regular HIV testing and ongoing awareness of HIV serostatus, and (ii) reducing AIDS-related social stigma. The findings suggest that the interventions were successful in persuading participants to know their HIV status immediately following the shows, as well as potentially contributing to a reduction of community-based external social stigma. However, the interventions were unable to maintain engagement with these behavioural outcomes in the years following the performances, resulting in low adherence to regular HIV testing and inconsistent condom use. Additionally, ongoing social and structural barriers to regular HIV testing and the potential for self-imposed HIV-related stigma were highlighted during the discussions. While applied theatre can be an effective avenue for HIV awareness and prevention, the paper demonstrates the importance of creating and maintaining strong community networks to support continued engagement with health-related behavioural outcomes. Early in South Africa's HIV/AIDS crisis, entertainment education emerged as a powerful vehicle for communicating health and social messaging to combat the epidemic. Applied theatre now accounts for the majority of arts-based HIV interventions in sub-Saharan Africa, and continues a history of theatre for social change in South Africa in particular. While much has been written about the dramaturgical and communication theories that support such interventions, the role of music, a formidable tool in the applied theatre intervention arsenal, has received considerably less attention within applied arts intervention scholarship. This paper draws from Durkheim's collective effervescence to propose a theoretical approach to music within the creation and maintenance of effervescent assemblies that is being employed by HIV/AIDS interventions to encourage participation in HIV testing. The theoretical model of musical effervescence is situated within ethnographic fieldwork conducted while accompanying an applied HIV/AIDS theatre company on a national tour of South Africa. Introduction: In this paper, we analyzed the study of a mathematical model of non-linear differential equation on the effect of HIV/AIDS disease among unaware HIV/AIDS-infected population. Material and methods: Population was divided into four categories, including HIV-negative individuals, unaware HIV-positive cases, aware HIV-positive, and AIDS patients. The model was investigated numerically and analytically using fourth-order Runge-Kutta approach and homotopy perturbation method (HPM). Results: We have discussed the parameter variation graphically. Unlike prevailing research methodologies in the interdisciplinary field of global health, feminist methodologies allow researchers to unsettle the premises and assumptions of the field. This paper describes how we mobilize transnational feminist ethnography in our research on HIV in India and postabortion care in Senegal. Transnational feminist perspectives enable us to re-embed HIV prevention and post-abortion care in the politics of gender and sexuality and in postcolonial histories of health governance. They consider the role of gender and sexuality not just in terms of gendered health inequalities, but also in terms of how global health problems are defined, managed, measured, and contested. We outline how our projects put this lens into practice by pushing the methodological boundaries of time, scale, and scope and through a historicized, multisited, and multiscalar approach that triangulates multiple sources of data. Feminist ethnography requires that we turn the critical gaze upon ourselves, reflecting on multiple and shifting personal and professional positionalities during and after fieldwork and our ethical commitments to our interlocutors. While acknowledging the significant personal, institutional, and professional challenges of using feminist methodologies, especially given the dominant modes of research in global health, we urge greater consideration, among both advanced and early scholars, of the possibilities they offer for studying global health problems. Objectives: Persons with disabilities (PWD) often experience risks associated with HIV/AIDS including unmet needs and overlooked stigmatization. This could be attributed to certain misconceptions such as PWDs are asexual, and cannot enjoy sexual pleasure, among others. Therefore, this paper sought to investigate the extent of disability inclusion in recent National Strategic Plans (NSPs) for HIV/AIDS in West African countries. Methods: This study was a policy review of NSPs in 13 African countries. Relevant indicators in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the UNAIDS International Guidelines on HIV and Human Rights were used. Six indicators (identification of people living with disability (PLWD) as a key population, the inclusion of principles related to PWD within the NSPs on HIV/AIDS, protecting the rights of PWD, recognition of PWD as a vulnerable population at higher risk of HIV and in need of special protection, providing HIV-related support services for PWD and monitoring and evaluating the impact of HIV on PWD). Results: Findings from this study revealed that only 30% of West African countries recognized disability as an issue of concern. Also, 38.5% of these countries recognize the vulnerability of people with disabilities to HIV. However, only a few (7.6%) provided support in the context of special needs, monitoring, and surveillance specifically for persons with disabilities. Conclusion: Most of the West African NSPs are outdated and due for renewal. Therefore, it is necessary to integrate the needs of persons with disabilities within the context of HIV/AIDS in the NSPs. Community health workers (CHWs) are central to the global health response to crises like the AIDS epidemic. Yet community health work remains undervalued and undercompensated worldwide owing in large part to the gendered and racialized contexts of care work. This paper investigates the possibility of occupational security for CHWs by comparing two cases from South Africa's response to AIDS. The first draws on ethnographic research (2007–2009) in rural KwaZulu‐Natal province and documents the fraught formation of a union representing CHWs. The second examines legal action in the Free State province for a group of CHWs known as the Bophelo House 94, who were arrested and criminally charged in June 2014 after protesting their sudden dismissal by the government. This case comparison finds that collective action has thus far had limited effects on CHWs' position as a nascent occupation. The South African Ministry of Health has obstructed CHW professionalization, and non‐state actors' involvement has been a mixture of benefit and impediment: some social justice agencies have facilitated CHW advocacy, while many AIDS service organizations have cooperated with the state and exacerbated the precarity of CHWs' working conditions. The advent of the HIV/AIDS crisis transformed the desirability of committed heterosexual relationships. This paper employs a difference‐in‐differences approach to investigate the impact of the HIV/AIDS crisis on marriage rates. By using HIV/AIDS death rates as a proxy for HIV incidence, the study exploits county‐level variations in HIV/AIDS mortality and finds that counties with higher HIV/AIDS death rates experienced larger gains in marriage rates in the early years of the epidemic. AIDS is a chronic infectious disease that has been having a major impact on human health and social stability. In this paper, based on the deterministic SIATR model, a stochastic SIATR model is developed to account for the spread of AIDS by introducing the Ornstein–Uhlenbeck process. First, the existence and uniqueness of the global positive solution of the model are investigated. Second, a threshold R0E is set: when R0E < 1, the disease will become extinct; when R0E > 1, the disease will persist. Then, it is shown that there exists a stationary distribution for the model when R0E > 1. On this basis, we derive the exact expression for the probability density function of the model in the neighborhood of the quasi-equilibrium state. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) accounts for half of non-Hodgkin lymphoma cases in people living with human immunodeficiency syndrome (PLWH). The interplay of viremia, immune dysregulation and co-infection with oncogenic viruses play a role in pathogenesis of DLBCL in PLWH (HIV-DLBCL). This scoping review aimed to describe the molecular landscape of HIV-DLBCL, investigate the impact of biomarker on clinical outcomes and describe technologies used to characterise HIV-DLBCL. Thirty-two papers published between 2001 and 2023 were included in this review. Samples of HIV-DLBCL were relatively small (16-110). Cohort effects influenced frequencies of molecular characteristics hence their impact on survival was not clear. Molecular features were distinct from HIVunrelated DLBCL. The most frequently assessed characteristic was cell of origin (81.3% of studies). Somatic mutations were the least researched (6.3% of studies). Overall, biomarker identification in HIV-DLBCL requires broader richer data from larger or pooled samples using more powerful techniques such as next-generation sequencing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nigeria's widespread mixed epidemiology HIV program has achieved a 26% reduction in new infections since 2010. New HIV infections in Nigeria remain higher in key populations, adolescent girls and young women. Treatment as prevention was a relatively new concept in Nigeria in 2016, with U=U adopted and launched in 2019 by the Federal Ministry of Health. This paper provides justification on why a sustained focus on U=U campaigns in Nigeria will contribute to the successes of the Nigerian HIV program, improving the possibility of HIV epidemic control and attaining equitable health outcomes for all sub populations in Nigeria. Introduction The HIV/AIDS prevention program among pregnant mothers aims to reduce the risk of HIV transmission from mother to baby. It also aims to reduce stigma and discrimination, as well as deaths due to HIV/AIDS. This paper aimed to find out obstacles that occur in the implementation of HIV/AIDS transmission program in Indonesia. Methods Online literature search was done on Google Scholar, Science Direct and PubMed databases with the keywords related to “HIV/AIDS” and transmission prevention program among mothers to children. The search resulted in a total of 343 articles. Results After the abstracts were reviewed, there were only 16 articles selected. Conclusions The implementation of the program in Indonesia has been run but is not yet optimal because of several obstacles i.e., the insufficient number of health workers and poor knowledge of health workers. Figuring out solutions to the obstacles could ease the program implementation to reduce the cases of HIV/AIDS. In this paper, we formulate and analyze a class of discrete state-structured epidemic models that spread through both horizontal and vertical transmissions on networks, where infected individuals can move from one infected state to any other state so that our models include all possible state-transfers (disease deterioration and amelioration) among different states. Many epidemic transmissions with or without vertical transmission in nature can be analyzed by referring to our models, such as HIV-1, viral hepatitis, and Covid-19. We derive the basic reproduction number $ \mathcal{R}_0 $ = $ \mathcal{R}_h $+ $ \mathcal{R}_v $, and prove that the global dynamics are completely determined by the basic reproduction number: if $ \mathcal{R}_0\leq 1 $, the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable and the disease always dies out; if $ \mathcal{R}_0>1 $, the disease-free equilibrium is unstable, and there exists a unique endemic equilibrium that is globally asymptotically stable, and the disease persists at a positive level in the population. It also implies that vertical transmission has an impact on maintaining infectious diseases when horizontal transmission cannot sustain the disease on its own. The proof of global stability is based on the graph-theoretic approach and answer the open problem left in [1]. Finally, numerical simulations are performed to illustrate the theoretical results. This paper examines how transgender people were overlooked during COVID-19 to shed light on their predicaments and to offer them resources to deal with them as they are one of the most vulnerable parts of society. Four databases, including Pubmed, Psychinfo, Science Direct, and Google Scholar, were utilized to collect secondary data from published articles and grey literature. Transgender people faced several serious obstacles because of the outbreak of COVID-19, such as trouble accessing the government's social security programs during the lockdown. COVID-19 also left transgender people at a heightened risk of poverty and ill health because they exist on the margins of society, whose livelihoods are based on sex work, begging, and solicited endowments. They also ran a significantly higher risk of contracting SARS-CoV2 because they lived in congested areas or did not have permanent shelter, or were infected with fatal illnesses. Additionally, the pandemic raised unfavorable attitudes about transgender people, who already face trouble forming emotional relationships. The content analysis and data in this study give practical recommendations for supporting transgender individuals during the serious stages of the growth of the pandemic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As interlocutors in national level discourse with the power to influence public opinion and inform policy, the news media are an important data source in understanding the constitutive roles played by culture and discourse in shaping health experiences and outcomes. This paper reports on a critical discourse analysis of news media coverage of HIV in the Republic of Ireland between 2006 and 2016. This period is significant because of the considerable increase in new HIV diagnoses that occurred in Ireland after the 2008 recession. Analysis of articles (n = 103) demonstrated a pattern of dividing practices whereby people living with or affected by HIV were frequently positioned as somatically and morally deficient via discourses of risk and responsibility. Little focus was given over to examination of the structural drivers of HIV, occluding the social context of the epidemic. The findings suggest that media discourses on HIV have the potential to other people living with HIV and generate stigma by invoking a dynamic of blame and shame frequently implicated in the stigma process. Introduction: Although significant progress has been made in the fight against HIV/AIDS, structural factors continue to undermine this progress, especially among racialized populations in many countries. For instance, African, Caribbean and Black (ACB) men in Canada face barriers - such as unemployment, stigma, and racism - that increase their vulnerability to health-related events including HIV/AIDS. However, there is a paucity of culturally appropriate responses to address these factors within the ACB population in Canada. Hence, this paper sought to identify the structural barriers that increase the vulnerability of ACB heterosexual men to HIV, and the strategies for building resilience in response to HIV. Material and methods: This paper is based on the qualitative findings from the weSpeak project, which was a mixed-methods study informed by community-based participatory research (CBPR). Qualitative data were collected from 63 participants in Ottawa, Canada through focus group discussions (FGD) and in-depth interviews (IDI). The participants included ACB heterosexual men, service providers, and policy/decision-makers. All interviews were recorded, transcribed verbatim and analysed using NVivo Version 11. Results: The themes were: 1) systemic barriers to employment and income, 2) healthcare access and uptake, 3) stigma, discrimination and racism, 4) strategies for responding to HIV vulnerabilities. The participants highlighted the difficulties that new immigrants faced with recognition of their academic credentials, which then limits their income and job opportunities. Healthcare services were underutilized because of privacy issues, insufficient physicians and long waiting periods. Also, HIV-related stigma, anti-Black racism and stereotypes were factors that limited health and economic options for the participants. However, the participants acknowledged that health education, collaboration and engagement with faith-based leaders can reduce HIV vulnerabilities. Conclusions: The study highlights the role of structural factors in increasing HIV vulnerability among ACB heterosexual men, and the need for multilevel interventions to foster better a HIV response within the ACB community. This paper discusses the sexual experiences of people involved in polyamorous relationships to determine the relation between polyamory and HIV/AIDS. The study was guided by social cognitive theory, constructivism, the meaning-making model and interpretative phenomenological analysis. Four emerging themes are discussed: sex practices in polyamorous relationships; the construction of sexual rules and agreements; the value of trust and honesty; and psychosocial support and services for polyamorists. The study concludes that polyamory does not pose risk to HIV. The paper suggests a reconceptualization of the partner reduction policy which was influenced by Morris and Kretzchmar's (1997) mathematical model Further, the findings are crucial to social work practice in the area of HIV/AIDS and social work education, particularly in regards to anti-discrimination. Introduction: Nowadays human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is very dangerous. HIV targets the resistant system and weakens people's denial against many contaminations and some kinds of cancer. As the virus breaks up and impairs the function of immunity, infected people gradually become immunodeficient. Both deep learning and machine learning models play a great role in the prediction of diseases. The function of immunity is CD4 cell count. In this study both the machine learning and deep learning algorithms were applied. Material and methods: In this paper the data were collected from data world. Support vector machine, random forest, naïve Bayes, gated recurrent unit, and long short-term memory were used to fit the incidence data. The performance of the model was evaluated by accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and F-score with respective errors. Results: Based on the evaluation, deep learning models achieve better results in the metrics of accuracy, precision, and F-score than machine learning models. But in sensitivity metrics machine learning models achieve better result than deep learning. Machine learning algorithms SVM, RF, and NB provide accuracy of 89.00%, 87.00%, and 86.94%; precision of 75.89%, 74.97%, and 75.78%; sensitivity of 87.96%, 84.00%, and 84.12%; F-score of 82.87%, 80.03%, and 79.05%, respectively. LSTM, GRU provides accuracy of 97.65%, 96.00%, precision of 77.35%, 84.00%, sensitivity of 87.93%, 82.98%, and F-score of 82.03%, 83.20%, respectively. Conclusions: The possibility survival of the illness is less than no illness. The existence of TB negative is higher than TB positive. In the machine learning model SVM provides better sensitivity with 87.96%, long short-term memory provides accuracy of 97.65%, precision of 77.35%, sensitivity of 87.93%, and F-score of 82.03%. Intimate partner violence (IPV), HIV, and substance use are serious intersecting public health issues. This paper aims to describe the Social Intervention Group (SIG)'s syndemic-focused interventions for women that address the co-occurrence of IPV, HIV, and substance use, referred to as the SAVA syndemic. We reviewed SIG intervention studies from 2000 to 2020 that evaluated the effectiveness of syndemic-focused interventions which addressed two or more outcomes related to reducing IPV, HIV, and substance use among different populations of women who use drugs. This review identified five interventions that co-targeted SAVA outcomes. Of the five interventions, four showed a significant reduction in risks for two or more outcomes related to IPV, substance use, and HIV. The significant effects of SIG's interventions on IPV, substance use, and HIV outcomes among different populations of women demonstrate the potential of using syndemic theory and methods in guiding effective SAVA-focused interventions.
