Evolutionary algorithms rely on the population initialization strategy to determine a set of candidate solutions, which provide the preliminary knowledge of the problem landscape for the subsequent evolutionary process. However, the distribution of the initial population is rarely concerned in the multimodal evolutionary community. Moreover, a large initial population has not been attractive enough for evolutionary multimodal optimization, because it is difficult and challenging to achieve a balance between diversity and convergence within limited computing resources. As an extended version of our previous conference paper, this paper focuses on the construction of a large initial population that is beneficial for evolutionary multimodal optimization. First, we propose an improved density-based population initialization strategy to generate a uniform initial population with a certain degree of randomness. Then, after acquiring the raw fitness landscape of the problem, a fitness-weighted density-based population initialization strategy is proposed to explore potential global peaks. Finally, we design a multi-species cooperative coevolution algorithm for multimodal optimization, which balances the exploration and exploitation of such a population in the evolutionary process. • Variational Quantum Circuits (VQCs) play a key role in several applications. • VQCs are parameterized quantum circuits trained by using classical optimizers. • The paper proposes to apply memetic algorithms to train VQCs. • The designed memetic algorithm outperforms the state-of-the-art classical optimizers. Among the ready-to-implement quantum algorithms, Variational Quantum Circuits (VQCs) play a key role in several applications, including machine learning. Their strength lies in the use of a parameterized quantum circuit that is trained by means of an optimization algorithm run on a classical computer. In such a scenario, there is a strong need to design appropriate classical optimization schemes that deal efficiently with VQCs and pave the way for quantum advantage in machine learning. Rao algorithms that include three algorithms are very simple and parameter-less algorithms with effective and desirable performance. This paper modifies these three algorithms, merges them, and establishes a powerful group algorithm. In the first optimization step, the suggested algorithm is tested on 30 standard CEC2014 functions with 50 dimensions to compare it with main algorithms, several well-known algorithms, and modified versions of RAO algorithm. It becomes evident in the first test that the suggested optimizer is effective, and reliable for optimization of real-parameter functions, and it has shown its superiority to original RAO algorithm and several modern and modified versions of RAO algorithms for most of the test functions and achieved more acceptable results than them. Moreover, the suggested algorithm benefits a faster convergence characteristic than original RAO algorithms. The proposed Colonial Competitive RAO (CCRAO) has been applied on five popular engineering problems and its results have been compared with those of recent papers. According to the results, CCRAO is an effective, robust, and reliable optimizer for engineering design problems and can contain all useful features of RAO algorithms altogether. Normalization of objectives plays a crucial role in evolutionary multi-objective optimization (EMO) to handle objective functions with different scales, which can be found in real-world problems. Although the effect of normalization methods on the performance of EMO algorithms has been investigated in the literature, that of preference-based EMO (PBEMO) algorithms is poorly understood. Since PBEMO aims to approximate a region of interest, its population generally does not cover the Pareto front in the objective space. This property may make normalization of objectives in PBEMO difficult. This paper investigates the effectiveness of three normalization methods in three representative PBEMO algorithms. We present a bounded archive-based method for approximating the nadir point. First, we demonstrate that the normalization methods in PBEMO perform significantly worse than that in conventional EMO in terms of approximating the ideal point, nadir point, and range of the PF. Then, we show that PBEMO requires normalization of objectives on problems with differently scaled objectives. The purpose of this paper is to increase the reliability of the network-level pavement maintenance budget allocation by reducing uncertainties of algorithm selection and parameter tuning. In this paper, reliability is defined as the ability of a network-level pavement maintenance plan to improve the condition of a pavement network within a certain budget. In order to quantify reliability, the reliability index is defined as the ratio between the post-maintenance network condition and the net maintenance cost. With this purpose in mind, a two-objective optimization model was developed. To test its applicability, the model was applied to a pavement network in Canada. The model was solved using the Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II and the differential evolution algorithms. Finally, the reliability indices of algorithms and termination criteria were computed. The results indicated that the differential evolution algorithm recommended less frequent but more intense interventions that made the solutions expensive and less reliable. This paper contributed to the network-level pavement maintenance body of knowledge by (1) developing a multi-objective optimization model to reduce uncertainties of parameter tuning and algorithm selection; (2) increasing the reliability of budget allocation; (3) showcasing the significance of pavement clustering in increasing reliability; and (4) developing and incorporating actual pavement improvement curves. This paper starts with two hypotheses. The first one is that the simultaneous optimization of the hyperparameters regulating the classifier within a wrapper method, while the best subset of features is being determined, should improve the results with respect to those obtained with a pre-parameterized classifier. The second one is that solving these two problems can be formulated as a lexicographic optimization problem, allowing the use of a simple single-objective evolutionary algorithm to solve this multi-objective problem. The fitness function is of key importance for such wrapper methods. It is responsible for guiding the search towards potentially good solutions and it also consumes most of the runtime. Having these issues in mind, this paper also proposes a new lexicographic fitness function, designed to minimize the runtime of the algorithm and also to avoid over-fitting. Furthermore, the execution time and the quality of the results obtained by the wrapper procedure also depend on some algorithmic hyperparameters: the similarity thresholds used when comparing two different solutions lexicographically and the percentage of data samples used for validation during the training process. Thus, an experimental analysis has been carried out to find adequate values for these hyperparameters. Finally, the lexicographic cooperative co-evolutionary wrapper approach, using the new fitness function proposed in this paper, has been tested with several datasets belonging to the University of California, Irvine (UCI) repository and also with some real high-dimensional datasets, obtaining quite good results, compared to other state-of-the-art wrapper methods. Intelligent machines are an important carrier of artificial intelligence, which are widely used not only in the industrial field, but also in various fields of daily life and work. Path planning is an important research direction for studying machine intelligence. The main purpose is to search for a feasible path so that the robot can walk along the searched path in a complex environment. This paper aims to study the evolutionary algorithm of intelligent machines based on artificial intelligence. On the basis of introducing the characteristics of artificial potential field algorithm, the concept and characteristics of genetic algorithm, using genetic algorithm as the framework, the artificial potential field algorithm is combined with the crossover of genetic algorithm. In the operator, the optimization performance of the crossover operator is improved. The research results show that the length of the path obtained by the improved algorithm is shorter and better than that of the genetic algorithm of the single-point crossover operator. Many-objective optimization problems (MaOPs) are challenging tasks involving optimizing many conflicting objectives simultaneously. Decomposition-based many-objective evolutionary algorithms have effectively maintained a balance between convergence and diversity in recent years. However, these algorithms face challenges in accurately approximating the complex geometric structure of irregular Pareto fronts (PFs). In this paper, an information entropy-driven evolutionary algorithm based on reinforcement learning (RL-RVEA) for many-objective optimization with irregular Pareto fronts is proposed. The proposed algorithm leverages reinforcement learning to guide the evolution process by interacting with the environment to learn the shape and features of PF, which adaptively adjusts the distribution of reference vectors to cover the PFs structure effectively. Moreover, an information entropy-driven adaptive scalarization approach is designed in this paper to reflect the diversity of nondominated solutions, which facilitates the algorithm to balance multiple competing objectives adaptively and select solutions efficiently while maintaining individual diversity. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, the RL-RVEA compared with seven state-of-the-art algorithms on the DTLZ, MaF, and WFG test suites and four real-world MaOPs. The number of research works on dynamic constrained optimization problems has been increasing rapidly over the past two decades. In this domain, many real-life decision problems need to be solved repeatedly with changing data and parameters. However, no research on dynamic problems with changes in the coefficients of the constraint functions has been reported. In this paper, to deal with such problems, a new evolutionary framework with multiple novel mechanisms is proposed. The new mechanisms are for (1) dealing with both linear and non-linear components in the constraint functions, (2) identifying the rate of change in the coefficients of the variables and (3) updating the population efficiently after every change occurs in the problem. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we designed a new set of 13 dynamic benchmark problems, each of which consists of 20 dynamic changes and 3 different scenarios. The results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm significantly contributes in achieving good quality solutions, high feasibility rates and fast convergence in rapidly changing environments. The peak shear strength of clayey soil-geomembrane interfaces is a vital parameter for the design of relevant engineering infrastructure. However, due to the large number of influence factors and the complex action mechanism, accurate prediction of the peak shear strength for clayey soil-geomembrane interfaces is always a challenge. In this paper, a machine learning model was established by combining Mind Evolutionary Algorithm (MEA) and the ensemble algorithm of Adaptive Boosting Algorithm (ADA)-Back Propagation Artificial Neural Network (BPANN) to predict the peak shear strength of clayey soil-geomembrane interfaces based on the results of 623 laboratory interface direct shear experiments. By comparing with the conventional machine learning algorithms, including Particle Swarm Optimisation Algorithm (PSO) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) tuned ADA-BPANN, MEA tuned Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Random Forest (RF), the superior performance of MEA tuned ADA-BPANN has been validated, with higher predicting precision, shorter training time, and the avoidance of local optimum and overfitting. By adopting the proposed novel model, sensitivity analysis was carried out, which indicates that normal pressure has the largest influence on the peak shear strength, followed by geomembrane roughness. Furthermore, an analytical equation was proposed to assess the peak shear strength that allows the usage of machine learning skills for the practitioners with limited machine learning knowledge. The benefits of using crossover in crossing fitness gaps have been studied extensively in evolutionary computation. Recent runtime results show that majority-vote crossover is particularly efficient at optimizing the well-known Jump benchmark function that includes a fitness gap next to the global optimum. Also estimation-of-distribution algorithms (EDAs), which use an implicit crossover, are much more efficient on Jump than typical mutation-based algorithms. However, the allowed gap size for polynomial runtimes with EDAs is at most logarithmic in the problem dimension n. In this paper, we investigate variants of the Jump function where the gap is shifted and appears in the middle of the typical search trajectory. Such gaps can still be overcome efficiently in time O (n log ⁡ n) by majority-vote crossover and an estimation-of-distribution algorithm, even for gap sizes almost n. However, if the global optimum is located in the gap instead of the usual all-ones string, majority-vote crossover would nevertheless approach the all-ones string and be highly inefficient. In sharp contrast, an EDA can still find such a shifted optimum efficiently. Thanks to a general property called fair sampling , the EDA will with high probability sample from almost every fitness level of the function, including levels in the gap, and sample the global optimum even though the overall search trajectory points towards the all-ones string. Satellite range scheduling always plays a crucial role in tracking, telemetry, and control of the spacecraft. With the significant increase in the number and type of satellites in orbit, the demands of users for satellite range scheduling are becoming more and more diverse. However, existing studies for the satellite range scheduling problem (SRSP) rarely consider multiple optimization objectives, which is quite significant in practice. Hence, this paper investigates a multi-objective satellite range scheduling problem (MO-SRSP) that optimizes three objectives simultaneously: the overall profits of tasks, load-balance of antennas, and completion timeliness of tasks. To address MO-SRSP, this paper establishes a mathematical model on the basis of analysis of MO-SRSP and proposes a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm, which is called multi-objective differential evolution algorithm based on space division and adaptive selection strategy (MODE-SDAS). The space division strategy will uniformly divide the objective space into a set of subspaces and preserve a set of non-dominated solutions in each subspace during the environmental selection even if some of these solutions are dominated by other solutions in other subspaces, so as to maintain the diversity of the algorithm. The adaptive selection strategy will adaptively allocate computational resources to different subspaces to improve the convergence of the population. Besides, problem-specific designs such as coding and encoding methods, the discrete differential evolution operator, as well as objective-specific individual variation operators are incorporated into the algorithm to enhance the search capability. Finally, extensive experiments based on simulation test cases are carried out to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of MODE-SDAS. The comparison results show that MODE-SDAS significantly outperforms its competitors in terms of three metrics. Today, intelligent optimization has become a science that few researchers have not used in dealing with problems in their field. Diversity and flexibility have made the use, efficiency, and usefulness of various nature-inspired optimization methods, such as evolutionary and meta-heuristic algorithms, more evident in such problems. This work first provides a comprehensive overview of all considerations governing various optimization problems with detailed corresponding categories. Then, the most comprehensive review and recent methods (during 1965–2022) are presented in evolution-based, swarm-based, physics-based, human-based, and hybrid-based categories. More than 320 new algorithms have been reviewed. All specifications including authors, year, abbreviation, inspired source, controls, and their application are considered in this regard. Statistical analyzes of papers and publishers, annually and for 57 years, along with their ranking, are also examined in detail. Aiming at the problems of single optimization strategy and poor comprehensive performance of MOFA, multi-objective firefly algorithm with adaptive region division is proposed in this paper. By leveraging the convergence index, our algorithm intelligently divides the dominant and non-dominant solution groups into three sub-regions, namely balance, exploration, and development areas, each with a distinct learning strategy that complements the strengths of fireflies. Specifically, fireflies in the balance area learn from global optimal particles with diversity to achieve a balanced exploration and development ability. Fireflies in the exploration area jointly learn from globally optimal particles with convergence and diversity, increasing the algorithm's likelihood of discovering Pareto optimal solutions. Lastly, fireflies in the development area rapidly converge under the guidance of the globally optimal particle of convergence, thus improving the algorithm's development ability. To further enhance the comprehensive optimization performance, we introduce a novel fusion index as an external archive update strategy that preserves solutions with superior convergence and diversity. This paper presents a new training algorithm that can update the situation of layers' network, and therefore, connections, neurons, and firing rate of neurons based on FORCE (first-order reduced and controlled error) training algorithm. The Quantized Full FORCE algorithm (QFF) also updates the number of neurons and connections between different layers in the network per iteration in a way that the whole firing rate of each layer is updated via selecting the best neurons and combining strong features. The update method is sequential, so that with each instance passing through the network, the network structure is updated with the Full FORCE algorithm. The algorithm updates the structure of networks with a multiple/single middle layer of the supervised version of feed forward networks such as Multilayer perceptron (MLP), changing them into partially-connected networks. A combination of principal component analysis PCA and Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) algorithms has been used to cluster the network input features. The paper focuses on the deep supervised MLP network with backpropagation (BP) and various datasets and its comparison with other MLP based stat of art methods and hybrid evolutionary algorithms. We achieved 98.15 percent accuracy for facial expression 98.6 and 97.7 percent for Wisconsin breast Cancer and Iris Flower in respectively. Reducing the number of lower-level function evaluations (LFEs) is crucial to designing a bilevel evolutionary algorithm (BLEA) for bilevel optimization. Direct neighbor solution transfer (DST) is regularly used in BLEA because it can improve the lower-level search efficiency and reduce the number of LFEs. But this method still faces the challenge of misleading searches to make the algorithm converge to the wrong optimum. This paper proposes a bilevel improved multi-operator differential evolution algorithm (BL-IMODE) for bilevel optimization, which uses the knowledge transfer and adaptive coordinate systems approach. Specifically, this paper proposes a lower-level search knowledge transfer (LLS-KT) and a lower-level (LL) optimal solution distribution information transfer (LLO-DIT) mechanism to implement knowledge transfer. In LLS-KT, transferring LL solutions to the LL optimizer is similar to DST, but the LLS-KT transfers multiple solutions and thus has less possibility of misleading searches than DST. Moreover, the LLO-DIT transfers the LL optimal solution distribution information to the LL optimizer for generating promising offspring solutions. Since this method does not directly transfer LL solutions, it avoids misleading searches. Additionally, the adaptive coordinate systems (ACS) approach is used in two-level optimizers to suit different fitness landscapes and further reduce the number of LFEs. In ACS, three differential evolution mutation operators are produced in two coordinate systems. An adaptive strategy is used to select the suitable differential evolution mutation operator to generate promising offspring solutions in the Eigen coordinate or original coordinate system. Experimental studies on three test suites benchmark problems for comparison with seven state-of-the-art algorithms are conducted. The results show BL-IMODE has a significant advantage over the comparative algorithms. Time is a crucial factor for decision making, especially in environments where it is necessary to provide a high quality of experience for the users and at the same time make efficient use of their resources; functions that in some cases may conflict. That is one of the challenges that mobile operators have now; the unceasing growth in terms of users and service requirements that generate not only technical challenges. In an initial approach to this problem, we proposed a multi-objective model for selecting the cooperation scheme between base stations and an evolutionary algorithm that provides a set of optimal solutions. However, to find the optimal set of solutions, the convergence time of the proposed algorithm varies between a few seconds to hours, which makes it feasible only for network planning exercises. The recent multi-objective optimization problems are very complex which require an effective and robust evolutionary method for obtaining a global Pareto-optimal solutions. Most of these multi-objective evolutionary techniques are population-based methods which usually work on random search approaches and often trapped into local minima during their execution. A new fuzzy tuned mayfly algorithm (FTMA) is presented in this paper, to obtain the Pareto-optimal solutions for any complex multi-objective power system problem. It has a self-adapting global exploration capability to get the best Pareto-optimal solutions by varying two crucial parameters i.e., crossover (P c) and mutation P m probabilities. Moreover, a model of Pareto-dominance is employed to rank non-dominating solutions to maintain the diversity within the populations. The proposed evolutionary approach is examined on a standard ZDT benchmark test suite and its algorithmic performance is statistically compared with a few of the recent optimization techniques such as NSGA-II, NSGA-III, MMODE, MOAVOA and MMA algorithm. It is further applied to minimize two distinct objective functions (i.e., total transmission loss and voltage stability index) for IEEE-118 bus system and IEEE-24 bus RTS. A comprehensive statistical analysis is presented for the obtained numerical results, which proves that proposed FTMA has better convergence with better solution diversity in comparison to the other competing algorithms. Adversarial sample generation problem is a hot issue in the security field of deep learning. Evolutionary algorithm has been widely used to solve this problem in recent years because of its good global search ability. However, existing methods still suffer from the "curse of dimensionality" when attacking high-resolution images. In this paper, a two-stage frequency domain generation algorithm of black-box adversarial samples based on differential evolution is proposed. In the first stage, a representative image-guided differential evolution method is proposed to quickly generate a universal adversarial perturbation with a high attack success rate in the frequency-domain. In the second stage, a space reduction strategy based on frequency-domain pixel blocks is designed to reduce the search space and alleviate the problem of "curse of dimensionality". In addition, a new space–frequency interaction sensitivity measure is introduced to evaluate the similarity between the adversarial samples and the original images. The adversarial perturbations obtained by the measure are more in line with the subjective perception of the human eye. The key to solving constrained multiobjective optimization problems (CMOPs) lies in maintaining the feasibility, convergence, and diversity of the population. In recent years, various constraint handling techniques (CHTs) and strategies have been proposed to enhance the performance of constrained multiobjective evolutionary algorithms (CMOEAs). However, most of these algorithms face difficulties in dealing with problems that have large infeasible regions and discontinuous small feasible regions, as they have trouble crossing large infeasible regions while simultaneously maintaining the convergence and diversity of the population. To tackle this issue, this paper proposes a dual-population auxiliary coevolutionary algorithm with an enhanced operator, denoted as DAEAEO. Auxiliary population 1 employs an improved ϵ -constraint handling technique to provide high-quality feasible solutions for the main population. Auxiliary population 2 adopts the non-dominated sorting method to provide favorable objective information for the main population to help it cross the infeasible region. In addition, to further improve diversity, each population adopts an enhanced operator and a genetic operator to generate offspring, respectively. Finally, knowledge transfer between offspring is realized. The outbreak of uncertain events, e.g., financial crisis, regional conflict and abrupt contagion, has a significant impact on residents' income. Hence, the wealth management and portfolio selection become more and more important. In addition, the behavioral finance believes that decision-making process of the investors not only depend on utility maximization, but also on who to compare with. It differs from the traditional finance based on rational cognitive acquiring and decision-making of agents, in this paper, we consider both investment uncertainty and investment utility with reference level for portfolio selection. First, we introduce the uncertainty theory and loss aversion utility with reference level based on behavioral finance. Then we study an uncertain multi-period portfolio selection problem. Moreover, we formulate an uncertain behavioral portfolio selection model with three objective functions for which we propose an equivalent program consisting of a main model and two auxiliary models for tri-objective optimization model. Thereafter, we use a modified evolutionary root system growth algorithm to solve the transformed models. The multi-robot task allocation problem has garnered significant attention in research and development. This paper addresses the multi-robot task allocation problem by introducing a unified model that seamlessly transforms into four popular mathematical models through simple parameter adjustments. We propose an efficient indicator-based multi-objective evolutionary algorithm with a hybrid encoding scheme for task execution order and robot starting point information. The algorithm employs the hypervolume indicator for environmental selection to enhance convergence and the modified crowding distance for archive updates to promote diversity. Additionally, an adaptive archive update mechanism is designed for time efficiency. In experiments comparing our proposed algorithm with 8 state-of-the-art algorithms on 18 randomly generated instances of various sizes, along with 4 real-world problems from the TSPLIB benchmark, our algorithm consistently outperformed the comparison algorithms in five key indicators. The challenge of high-dimensional feature selection (FS) lies in the search technique, which needs to consider both minimizing the size of feature subset and maximizing the classification accuracy. Recently, multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs) have shown excellent performance in solving FS tasks. However, most existing MOEAs struggle to effectively balance these two conflicting objectives when solving high-dimensional FS tasks. To cover this issue, in this paper, a decomposition-based multi-population evolutionary algorithm is proposed, called MPEA-FS. In the initialization stage, a multi-population generation strategy (MGS) based on feature weights (MGS) was adopted, with each population corresponding to a search subspace, which can improve the algorithm's search ability. During the evolutionary stage, an external population is designed to integrate the excellent feature subsets of multiple populations to achieve knowledge sharing between them. In addition, to reduce the feature dimension, a feature reduction strategy (FRS) is proposed, which can remove unimportant features while maintaining classification accuracy. Extensive experiments are performed on 13 high-dimensional datasets, and the proposed algorithm is compared with 5 state-of-the-art FS methods proposed in the last 3 years on multiple metrics. Constrained multimodal multi-objective optimization (CMMOPs) involves multiple equivalent constrained Pareto optimal sets (CPSs) matching the same constrained Pareto front (CPF). An essential challenge in solving CMMOPs is how to balance exploration and exploitation in searching for the CPSs. To tackle this issue, a dynamic constrained co-evolutionary multimodal multi-objective algorithm termed DCMMEA is developed in this paper. DCMMEA involves a constraint-relaxed population for handling constraints and a convergence-relaxed population for improving convergence quality. Subsequently, a constraint-relaxed epsilon strategy that considers the constraint violation degree between individuals is designed and applied dynamically in the constraint-relaxed population to develop equivalent CPSs. Similarly, a dynamic convergence-relaxed epsilon strategy that considers the differences between objective values is developed and used dynamically in the convergence-relaxed population. It explores CPSs with high convergence quality and transfers the convergence knowledge to the constraint-relaxed population. Additionally, the constraint- relaxed population size is dynamically increased and the convergence-relaxed population size is dynamically decreased to balance the exploration and exploitation procedures. Experiments are performed on standard CMMOP test suites and validate that DCMMEA obtains superior performance on solving CMMOPs in comparison to state-of-the-art algorithms. Production scheduling and maintenance planning are two interactive factors in modern manufacturing system. However, at present, almost all studies ignore the impact of unpunctual maintenance activities on the integrated production and maintenance scheduling since the unavailabilities of repairmen are dynamically changed, e.g., repairmen increase, decrease and their unavailable intervals update. Under these contexts, this paper addresses a novel integrated optimization problem of condition-based preventive maintenance (CBPM) and production rescheduling with multi-phase processing speed selection and dynamic repairman assignment. More precisely, (1) a novel multi-phase-multi-threshold CBPM policy with remaining-useful-life-based inspection and multi-phase processing speed selection is proposed to obtain some selectable maintenance plans for each production machine; (2) a hybrid rescheduling strategy (HRS) that includes three rescheduling strategies is designed for responding to the dynamic changes of repairman; and (3) an adaptive clustering- and Meta-Lamarckian learning-based bi-population co-evolutionary algorithm (ACML-BCEA) is developed to deal with the concerned problem. In the numerical simulations, the effectiveness of designed operators and proposed ACML-BCEA algorithm is first verified. Next, the superiority and competitiveness of the proposed CBPM policy and HRS are separately demonstrated by comparing with other CBPM policies and rescheduling strategies. Most studies in dynamic multi-objective optimization have predominantly focused on rapidly and accurately tracking changes in the Pareto optimal front (POF) and Pareto optimal set (POS) when the environment undergoes changes. However, there are real-world scenarios where it is necessary to simultaneously solve changing objective functions and satisfy the preference of Decision Makers (DMs). In particular, the DMs may be only interested in a partial region of the POF, known as the region of interest (ROI), rather than requiring the entire POF. To meet the challenge of simultaneously predicting a changing POF and/or POS and dynamic ROI, this paper proposes a new dynamic multi-objective evolutionary algorithm (DMOEAs) based on the preference. The proposed algorithm consists of three key components: an evolutionary direction adjustment strategy based on changing reference points to accommodate shifts in preferences, an angle-based search strategy for tracking the varying ROI, and a hybrid prediction strategy that combines linear prediction models and population manifold estimation within the ROI to ensure convergence and distribution in scenarios where preferences remain unchanged. Experimental studies conducted on 30 widely used benchmark problems in which it outperforms contrasting algorithms on 71% of test suits. Solving Large-Scale Multi-Objective Optimization Problems (LSMOPs) is the major challenge in evolution computation. Due to the large number of decision variables involved, it is not easy for existing multi-objective evolutionary algorithms to search the entire decision variable space with limited computation resources. To address the above problem, a large-scale multi-objective evolutionary algorithm based on problem transformation, called LSMOEA/PT, is presented in this paper. LSMOEA/PT uses an improved problem transformation strategy to transform LSMOPs into small-scale multi-objective problems to accelerate convergence speed and reduce computational resources. Specifically, The transformation strategy selects reference solutions to initialize a weight population by applying the opposite individual method. After optimizing the weight population, a dual line strategy is implemented to combine the weight vectors with the decision variables from the original population, thereby generating a new population. The new population is combined with the original population for environment selection. In LSMOEA/PT, a double learning swarm optimizer is introduced to speed up the convergence of the population. A uniform distribution strategy is conducted to update transformed solutions after the problem transformation process, increasing the diversity of the population. Experimental results show that LSMOEA/PT is competitive with eleven state-of-the-art algorithms on large-scale multi-objective optimization test problems with up to 2000 decision variables. Dynamic multi-objective optimization problems (DMOPs) are prevalent in the real world, where the challenge in solving DMOPs is how to track the time-varying Pareto-optimal front (PF) and Pareto-optimal set (PS) quickly and accurately. However, balancing convergence and diversity is challenging as a single strategy can only address a particular type of DMOP. To solve this issue, a dynamic multi-objective optimization evolutionary algorithm with adaptive boosting (AB-DMOEA) is proposed in this paper. In the AB-DMOEA, an adaptive boosting response mechanism will increase the weights of high-performing strategies, including those based on prediction, memory, and diversity, which have been improved and integrated into the mechanism to tackle various problems. Additionally, the dominated solutions reinforcement strategy optimizes the population to ensure the effective operation of the above mechanism. In static optimization, the static optimization boosting mechanism selects the appropriate static multi-objective optimizer for the current problem. AB-DMOEA is compared with the other seven state-of-the-art DMOEAs on 35 benchmark DMOPs. The comprehensive experimental results demonstrate that the overall performance of the AB-DMOEA is superior or comparable to that of the compared algorithms. Reinforcement Learning (RL) has gained significant popularity in recent years for its ability to solve complex control problems. However, most existing RL algorithms are designed to train policies for each environment in isolation, limiting their applicability to real-world scenarios with many related environments. Recently, many multitask optimization algorithms have been proposed and successfully applied to a wide range of optimization problems. However, existing studies mainly focus on solving multiple continuous function benchmarks and overlook the potential of tailoring towards RL. In this paper, we propose a simple multitask optimization algorithm called Multitask Augmented Random Search (MARS) that trains multiple RL agents together and exploits the performance surplus from highly correlated tasks. MARS is a modification of the simple random search Augmented Random Search (ARS) algorithm, which has been shown to outperform complicated methods in solving continuous control MuJoCo environments such as Soft Actor-Critic (SAC), Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO), and Trusted Region Policy Optimization (TRPO). In this paper, a multi-operator differential evolution algorithm (MODE) is proposed to solve the Optimal Power Flow problem, called MODE-OPF. The MODE-OPF utilizes the strengths of more than one differential evolution operator in a single algorithmic framework. Additionally, an adaptive method is proposed to update the number of solutions evolved by each DE operator based on both the diversity of the population and the quality of solutions. This adaptive method has the ability to maintain diversity at the early stages of the optimization process and boost convergence at the later ones. The performance of the proposed MODE-OPF is tested by solving OPF problems for both small and large IEEE bus systems (i.e., IEEE-30 and IEEE-118) while considering intermittent solar and wind power generation. To prove the suitability of this proposed algorithm, its performance has been compared against several state-of-the-art optimization algorithms, where MODE-OPF outperforms other algorithms in all experimental results thereby improving a network's performance with lower cost. This paper introduces a novel surrogate-assisted multi-objective nutcracker optimization algorithm. This algorithm is built upon the recently proposed nutcracker optimization algorithm, drawing inspiration from the behaviours observed in Clark's nutcrackers. The algorithm is developed based on two distinct behaviours exhibited by these birds. To comprehensively evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, a dual-pronged approach is adopted. On the one hand, a set of artificial test problems is employed to scrutinize the algorithm's capabilities, while on the other hand, a set of real-world problems is considered to assess its practical efficacy. The results of the proposed algorithm are evaluated in comparison to existing baseline algorithms and state-of-the-art algorithms, using well-recognized performance metrics, both qualitatively and quantitatively. This paper proposes a hybrid bio-inspired search and optimization algorithm that combines the strengths of the PB3C (Parallel Big Bang Big Crunch) and 3PGA (3 Parent Genetic Algorithm) algorithms. The hybrid algorithm employs a single population-based evolutionary search coupled with multi-population parallel processing techniques to address optimization problems. The proposed algorithm is implemented in MATLAB software. We evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm on the CEC2021 standard test bench suite. The performance of the proposed approach is compared with that of the other nine algorithms. The comparative analysis shows that the proposed hybrid PB3C and 3PGA algorithms performed better than the other nine optimization algorithms. Furthermore, this chapter proposes an HPB3C-3PGA-based approach to evolve the near-optimal architecture of CNN. The proposed plant image classification approach is implemented in Python and compared with 12 other approaches. The proposed approach achieved an accuracy of 98.96% on the Mendeley dataset and 98.97% on the CVIP100 dataset. Researchers have proposed various algorithms to identify potential fraud in a new incoming transaction. However, these approaches require significant human investigator effort and are sometimes misleading. To address this issue, this paper proposes an improved multiobjective differential evolution (DE) algorithm to estimate the distribution of fraudulent transactions in a set of new incoming transactions, referred to as quantifying fraudulent transactions. Our paper has three major novelties. First, we present the problem formulation of cost-based feature selection with maximum quantification ability. Second, we improve the DE by applying effective trial vector generation algorithms to the random control parameter settings to exploit the advantage of individual DE variants. Combinatorial optimization problems (COPs) play an important role in both industrial production and theoretical research. As a classical class of optimization algorithms, evolutionary algorithms have shown good performance in COPs. However, as the size of the problem increases, it becomes difficult for evolutionary algorithms to produce satisfactory solutions within the specified time. In recent years, neural network algorithms have been applied to solve COPs and have shown superior effects. Inspired by this, this paper proposes a new algorithm based on graph structure for solving COPs. Through relaxation, COPs are transformed into their corresponding continuous optimization problems. The output state of our algorithm is converted to a discrete solution by approximation method. Compared with previous algorithms, our algorithm can not only solve COPs with general form such as binary quadratic programming (BQP), but also solve COPs with special form, which greatly expands the application scope of neural network algorithms. In addition, our algorithm can be embedded into other problem frameworks such as solving multi-objective combinatorial optimization problem (MOCOP) through scalarization method. A new penalty function is added to the objective function, which enables our algorithm to overcome the inconsistency between the optimal solution of the original problem and the corresponding continuous problem, so that our algorithm can perform well on various problems. Several numerical simulations are used to illustrate the effectiveness of our algorithm in solving COPs. In the proposed algorithm, an initial population with high quality and diversity is generated by a heuristic allocation strategy based on robot capacity constraints. During the evolutionary phase, a crossover strategy based on information in the non-dominated solution set is designed for exploration in the global scope. A multi-objective local search with an iterated greedy idea is introduced to improve the exploration ability of the algorithm. Meanwhile, a restart operator based on the ideal point is presented to jump out of the local optimum. Finally, extensive experiments based on different scales are conducted. The differential evolution (DE) algorithm is widely regarded as one of the most influential evolutionary algorithms for addressing complex optimization problems. However, the fixed mutation strategy limits the adaptive ability of DE, and the lack of utilization of historical information limits the optimization ability of DE. In this paper, an indicator-based self-learning differential evolution algorithm (ISDE) is proposed. A jump out mechanism based on deep reinforcement learning is adopted to control the mutation intensity of the population. The neural network in the jump out mechanism is designed as a decision maker. The mutation intensity of the population is controlled by the neural network, and the neural network are trained by a double deep Q network algorithm based on the continuous data generated during the evolution process. A population range indicator (PRI) is utilized to describe individual differences in the population. A diversity maintenance mechanism is designed to maintain individual differences according to the value of PRI. A grey predictive evolutionary algorithm, which is attracting more and more attention, regards the population series of evolutionary algorithms as an equidistant time series. The population evolution is essentially regarded as a process in which the function values have variable-speed decrease with the increase of the number of iterations (for minimization problems). Therefore, a fitness-driven evolutionary population sequence with the property of variable-speed evolution should be more appropriately modelled as a non-equidistant time series. A novel meta-heuristic optimization algorithm, non-equidistant grey prediction evolution algorithm is proposed in this paper. The proposed algorithm is identified by its reproduction operator which is developed by the following two steps. Firstly, a non-equidistant grey model (NeGM (1,1)) based on the average fitness value of each generation population to preserve the non-equidistant nature is modelled. Secondly, the interval in the fitting stage of the NeGM (1,1) is defined as an increasing time interval. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated on CEC2019 and CEC2020 benchmark functions. This paper proposes the optimal power flow using efficient and reliable optimization technique of enhanced sine cosine algorithm (ESCA). The proposed algorithm used to solve the multi objective power flow function problems such as generating cost, losses, emission of power plant and to improve the voltage stability. In this IEEE standard 30 bus system with four different multi objective functions have been tested and results obtained by Enhanced sine cosine algorithm are compared with other evolutionary algorithms. Find the global optimal solution of the model is one promising research topic in computational intelligent community. Dependent on analogies to natural processes, the evolutionary swarm intelligent algorithms are widely used for solving global optimization problems which directed by the fitness values. In this paper, we propose one efficient fractional global learning machine (Fragmachine) which includes two stages (descending and ascending) to determine the optimal search path. The neural network model is used to approach the given fitness value. Specifically, for the descending stage, the integer gradient of the network output with respect the current location is employed to find the next descending point, while for the ascending stage, the fractional gradient is implemented to climb and escape from the local optimal point. We further propose one adaptive learning rate during training which relies on both the current gradient (integer or fractional) information and the fitness value. The fitness landscape is a theory applied to the evolutionary dynamics of biological evolution to explain the behavior of evolutionary algorithms in the solution of optimization problems. With the continuous advancement of evolutionary algorithm optimization, a fitness landscape can present more abundant feature information, such as the local fitness, fitness distance correlation, and landscape roughness. These landscape features reflect the optimal solution distribution, quantity, and local unimodal topology of the optimization problem from various angles. This paper expresses the adaptability landscape features of typical optimization problems, engages in a quantitative analysis of the fitness distance correlation information, evaluates the difficulty of solving the problem within the search space, and obtains the correlation degree classification result. The search strategy adapts the mixed mutation and the fitness distance correlation for differential evolution. Empirical studies show that, the fitness distance correlation search strategy for the differential evolution algorithm can avoid falling into the local optimum, improve accuracy and convergence, and solve the single-objective optimization problem in a more comprehensive manner.
