The crystal structure and electrocatalytic performance of Ni-based MOFs were controlled by the symmetrical engineering of Br functional groups on the terephthalic acid ligand. The asymmetric coordination between metal active sites and the ligand makes Ni-DBC-1Br an excellent OER electrocatalyst with a significantly lower overpotential (247 mV) accompanied by a low Tafel slope of 58.1 mV dec−1 in 1 M KOH (pH = 13.88). This study investigated the influence of green manure planting on the spectroscopic properties of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in saline–alkali soil under freshwater leaching conditions at different soil depths. The UV254, UV253/UV203, α300, α355, SUVA254, SUVA260, and SR ultraviolet parameters indicated reductions in the content of large molecular substances, benzene ring substitution degree, colored dissolved organic matter, aromaticity, and hydrophobic components in the soil leachate DOM with an increasing soil depth. Compared with the non-green manure treatment control, green manure planting mitigated the leaching of dissolved organic matter in soil during saline irrigation, with rape green manure demonstrating superior effectiveness. Utilizing three-dimensional fluorescence combined with parallel factor analysis, this study analyzed three fluorescent components of soil leachate DOM: C1 (visible-light fulvic acid), C2 (humic acid), and C3 (tyrosine-like protein). The combined contribution of the two humic substance components (C1 + C2) was approximately 70%, indicating the dominance of humic substances in leachate DOM. The fluorescence parameters of soil leachate DOM included an average of the fluorescence index (FI) values between 1.4 and 1.9, low humification index (HIX) values consistently below 4, and biological index (BIX) values ranging from 0.8 to 1.0, suggesting a mixed source, low humification degree, poor stability, and moderate self-source characteristics. Compared with the non-green manure treatment control, both the green manure treatments exhibited a relatively higher proportion of biogenic sources and humification degree in soil leachate DOM. This suggests that planting green manure can reduce the relative DOM content under freshwater leaching conditions, increase the proportion of biogenic sources in soil leachate DOM, and enhance soil humification. Background: As stroke has become the leading cause of death and disability in China, it has induced a heavy disease burden on society, families, and patients. Despite much attention within the literature, the effect of multiple risk factors on length of stay (LOS) and inpatient costs in China is still not fully understood. Aim: To analyse the association between the number of risk factors combined and inpatient costs among adults with stroke and explore the mediating effect of LOS on inpatient costs. Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted among stroke patients in a tertiary hospital in Nantong City from January 2018 to December 2019. Lifestyle factors (smoking status, exercise), personal disease history (overweight, hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, atrial fibrillation), family history of stroke, and demographic characteristics were interviewed by trained nurses. Inpatient costs and LOS were extracted from electronic medical records. Hierarchical multiple linear regression models and mediation analysis were used to examine the direct and indirect effects of the number of risk factors combined for stroke on inpatient costs. Results: A total of 620 individuals were included, comprising 391 ischaemic stroke patients and 229 haemorrhagic stroke patients, and the mean age was 63.2 years, with 60.32% being male. The overall mean cost for stroke inpatients was 30730.78 CNY ($ 4444.91), and the average length of stay (LOS) was 12.50 days. Mediation analysis indicated that the greater number of risk factors was not only directly related to higher inpatient costs (direct effect = 0.16, 95%CI:[0.11,0.22]), but also indirectly associated with inpatient cost through longer LOS (indirect effect = 0.08, 95% CI: [0.04,0.11]). Furthermore, patients with high risk of stroke had longer LOS than those in low-risk patients, which in turn led to heavier hospitalization expenses. Conclusions: Both the greater number of risk factors and high-risk rating among stroke patients increased the length of stay and inpatient costs. Aqueous zinc‐ion batteries are promising energy storage devices due to their low cost, good ionic conductivity, and high safety. Conductive polyaniline is a promising cathode because of its redox activity, but because the neutral electrolyte protonates only weakly, it displays limited electrochemical activity. A polyaniline cathode is developed with proton self‐doping from manganese metal–organic frameworks (Mn–MOFs) that alleviates the deprotonation and electrochemical activity concerns arising during the charge/discharge process. The MOFs carboxyl group provides protons to prevent deprotonation and allows the polyaniline to reach a high zinc storage redox activity. The proton self‐doped polyaniline cathode has a superior specific capacity (273 mAh g−1 at 0.5 A g−1), a high rate property (154 mAh g−1 at 20 A g−1), and excellent cyclability retention (87% over 4000 cycles at 15 A g−1). The phenomenon of ordered self-assembly on solid substrates is a topic of interest in both fundamental surface science research and its applications in nanotechnology. The regulation and control of two-dimensional (2D) self-assembled supra-molecular structures on surfaces have been realized through applying external stimuli. By utilizing scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), researchers can investigate the detailed phase transition process of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs), providing insight into the interplay between intermolecular weak interactions and substrate–molecule interactions, which govern the formation of molecular self-assembly. This review will discuss the structural transition of self-assembly probed by STM in response to external stimuli and provide state-of-the-art methods such as tip-induced confinement for the alignment of SAM domains and selective chirality. The spinel LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 cathode material was synthesized via a metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) method followed by high-temperature calcination. The effects of the solvent molecular chain length on the structure, morphology, and electrochemical properties of the MOF precursors and LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 materials were investigated. The results show that the content of Mn3+, the size of MOF precursors, and LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 particle gradually decreases with the increasing of solvent molecular chain length. Among them, the LNMO-EG sample exhibits superior electrochemical performance, the discharge capacity retention of 96.1% after 200 cycles at 1C rate, at a high rate of 5C, it still delivers a capacity of 120.8 mAh g−1 and capacity remains 85.2% after 500 cycles. These improvements might be due to the synergistic effect of moderate particle size, high Mn3+ content, and low impurity content, which avoids material agglomeration during long-term cycling and promotes the diffusion of Li+ during the interaction/deinteraction process. H3PO4 pretreated and Li3PO4 coated Li-rich materials Li1.2Ni0.2Mn0.6O2 have been prepared via hydrothermal followed by a facile modified method. The pretreated process partially extracts Li and O from lattice, results in pre-activation of Li2MnO3 component and the formation of spinel phase. A stable Li3PO4 coating is formed on the surface of the material during the subsequent heat treatment. H3PO4 pretreatment and Li3PO4 coating are skillfully combined using a simple method. Electrochemical studies exhibit that the electrochemical performance of Li1.2Ni0.2Mn0.6O2 is obviously improved after surface modification. The surface treated material with 0.04 mol L−1 H3PO4 shows more excellent electrochemical properties than those of Li1.2Ni0.2Mn0.6O2 cathode, with a high specific discharge capacity of 262.6 mAh g−1 at 0.1 C, a great capacity retention of 92.2% at 1 C after 100 cycles, and an outstanding rate capability reaching 105.4 mAh g−1 at 10 C. The enhanced performance is caused by the formation of spinel phase and Li3PO4 coating layer, which can accelerate the migration of Li+ and facilitate the charge transfer reaction. Spinel LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4(LNMO) cathode with high voltage plateau at around 4.7 V (vs. Li/Li+) has attracted great attention. While the unsatisfactory electrochemical performance at high voltage hinders its practical application in next generation lithium ion batteries. Based on our previous research, FEC as electrolyte additive significantly improves the electrochemical performance of high voltage LNMO cell. The LNMO/Li cell with 4 wt% FEC shows the best rate capability, 76% capacity retention even at 5C. And the high temperature cycling performance of LNMO/G full cell with FEC is improved. The result from Raman indicates that FEC can transform the association structure of AGGs in the electrolytes to the salvation structure of SSIPs which increases the conductivity of electrolyte. EIS, SEM, TEM, XPS and FTIR analyses indicate that a more stable CEI film has been formed on the cathode surface with appropriate FEC as additive, which can promote the transport of lithium ions and inhibit the dissolution of transition metal elements. Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-polystyrenesulfonate and manganese oxide (PEDOT:PSS/MnO2) hybrids were prepared via a facile solvothermal method coupled with an oxidative polymerization route. The effects of the reaction temperature and the KMnO4-to-organic monomer (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene, EDOT) ratio on the morphology, structure, and electrochemical properties of the materials were investigated. The optimized composites comprised homogeneous nanorod-like structures and exhibited overwhelmingly high conductivity (36 S cm−1) and superior supercapacitance—more specifically, they exhibited high-rate capability. The electrochemical properties of the nanocomposites were investigated using cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge-discharge cycling. The prepared hybrids showed a high capacitance of 365.5 F g−1 at a current density of 1 A g−1, a good rate performance of 325.4 F g−1 at 20 A g−1 (capacitance retention of 89%), and excellent cycling stability with approximately 80% capacitance retention after 2000 cycles at a current density of 5 A g−1 in a 6 M KOH aqueous electrolyte. Abstract Traditional approaches to recycle and regenerate spent lithium-ion batteries by leaching are polluted and complicated. In this study, a green and simple technique has been provided to regenerate spent LiNi 0.5 Co 0.2 Mn 0.3 O 2 cathode material, besides, the regenerated mechanisms are investigated. Studies indicate that lost lithium ions in material lattice are replenished by added lithium, meanwhile, insulting impurities on particle surface remove basically, cracked and broken particles disappear during the regeneration process. Electrochemical tests demonstrate that the performances of regenerated material improve significantly. The discharge capacities are 164.6 mAh g−1 at 0.1 C rate and 147 mAh g−1 at 1 C rate, respectively. They still could deliver a discharge capacity of 131 mAh g-1 with a high capacity retention rate of 89.12% after 100 cycles at 1 C, which can be considered as a preferable electrical energy storage system. In order to control cyanobacteria blooms with silver carp in Lake Taihu, an in situ experiment was carried out by stocking silver carp at a biomass of 35, 70, and 150 g m-3 and no carp control in waterproof enclosures. Physicochemical water parameters and biomass of plankton were measured in enclosures to evaluate the suitable stocking density of silver carp for relieving internal nutrients and constraining cyanobacteria growth in Lake Taihu. It is found that the 35 g m-3 silver carp group and 70 g m-3 silver carp group presented lower total phosphorus, lower chlorophyll-a, and higher water transparency. Increased nitrogen to phosphorus ratio, which indicated the result of algae decline in fish presence enclosures, was attributed to decline of phosphorus. Phosphorus decline also exerted limitation on reestablish of cyanobacteria bloom. Crustacean zooplankton biomass and Microcystis biomass decreased significantly in fish presence enclosures. Silver carp could be more effective to regulate algae bloom in enclosures with dense cyanobacteria. Therefore, nonclassic manipulation is supposed to be appropriate method to get rid of cyanobacteria blooms in Lake Taihu by stocking 35 to 70 g m-3 silver carp in application. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introductions or alien species invasions will induce changes in aquatic ecosystems but are rarely reported in Chinese highland lakes. The Japanese smelt (Hypomesus nipponensis) invaded and has become a dominant fish species in Lake Erhai, a highland lake in southwestern China, since 2016. Here, we engineered Ecopath models for two different periods, 2008–2009 (preinvasion) and 2016–2018 (postinvasion), in Lake Erhai to model ecosystem impacts from the Japanese smelt invasion. In the dynamic Ecosim model based on the 2016–2018 Ecopath model, we ran three 50-year scenarios to simulate the potential effects of Japanese smelts on the system. Our results showed competition between invasive and native species as well as changes in trophic structures, highlighting the impacts of the invasive species over time. The lake ecosystem additionally experienced significant degradation after invasion, mainly reflected in several related indicators, such as total biomass/total system throughput (TB/TST), total primary production/total biomass (TPP/TB), total primary production/total respiration (TPP/TR), Finn's mean path length (FML), Finn's cycling index (FCI) and the Connectance Index (CI). The simulation results indicated that the relative biomass of icefish (Neosalanx taihuensis), bighead carp (Hypophthalmichthys nobilis), sharpbelly (Hemiculter leucisculus), and zooplankton were significantly affected by increasing the strength of the top-down control of the Japanese smelt on its prey. The introduction of non-native fish species is known to have adverse effects on aquatic ecosystems, but their effect on plateau lakes is not well studied. In this study, we examined the effect of the Japanese smelt (Hypomesus nipponensis) invasion on the fish assemblage in Lake Erhai, a subtropical plateau lake in southwestern China. Through cluster analysis and non-metric multidimensional scaling (NMDS), we found a significant fish assemblage shift: the population of sharpbelly (Hemiculter leucisculus) fell by 67% in catch per unit effort (CPUE) from 2.262 to 0.741; topmouth gudgeon (Pseudorasbora parva) fell by 52% from 0.61 to 0.29; and icefish (Neosalanx taihuensis) plummeted by 88% from 0.736 to 0.088. Meanwhile, the numbers for crucian carp (Carassius auratus) improved by almost 185% from 1.82 to 3.36. A Pearson correlation analysis showed that these four species significantly correlated with the invasion of the Japanese smelt: sharpbelly (−0.71), topmouth gudgeon (−0.71), icefish (−0.62), and crucian carp (0.81). This study documented the expansion of invasive fish and their effects on native species over time, thus providing a case study of invasive fish as well as a theoretical basis for further research into interspecies interactions. Polyaniline/CoRE x Fe 2− x O 4 (RE=La, Ce, Y, x =0.05–0.25) nanocomposites were successfully synthesized by a novel coordination-oxidative polymerization-hydrothermal method, and doped by sulfosalicylic acid. The resultant nanocomposites were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and electromagnetic measurements. The composites mainly showed nanofibers with a diameter of ca. 70 nm and a length longer than 2 μm. The surface of composites was uniformly covered with numerous nanoparticles with an average size of ca . 10–20 nm. Microwave absorption properties of polyaniline/CoRE x Fe 2− x O 4 nanocomposites doped with La ion were found to be better than those doped with Ce and Y ions. For the polyaniline/CoLa x Fe 2− x O 4 nanocomposite, the optimal microwave absorption performance is at x =0.15, that is, the mass ratio of La in CoLa x Fe 2− x O 4 is 7.5%, with the conductivity of the composite about 0.833 S/cm. Furthermore, when the layer thickness is 2 mm, the maximum reflection loss achieves the maximum number of −42.65 dB at 15.91 GHz with a bandwidth of 6.14 GHz above −10 dB loss, suggesting that these nanocomposites are excellent in microwave absorbing capacity. Artificial enhancement of lakes using filter-feeding silver carp is a technique that is widely used to manipulate and/or promote fisheries' production in Chinese lakes. To evaluate the impact of this enhancement on nutrient cycling in the water column, we analyzed two silver carp biomass gradient testing sites by stocking experimental enclosures within Lake Taihu (eutrophic) with 0, 35, 70 and 150 g m − 3 of silver carp biomass and those within Lake Erhai (mesotrophic) with 0, 20, 50 and 100 g m − 3 of silver carp biomass. Total phosphorus and dissolved nitrogen were obviously influenced by the fish density. At relatively low densities, the silver carp were able to graze for particles of food directly, resulting in a decline in phosphorus and chlorophyll- a levels within the Lake Taihu enclosures. When fish were introduced to the Lake Erhai enclosures, chlorophyll- a levels increased. Increased dissolved nitrogen levels were recorded in the Lake Taihu enclosures during the experiment, while the enhanced uptake of nutrients by increased algae resulted in decreased dissolved nitrogen levels in the Lake Erhai enclosures. We hypothesize that although silver carp could potentially reduce cyanobacteria in water bodies with large algal blooms, the relatively small change in fish in Lake Taihu is still too minor to control severe algal blooms. In relatively clean water bodies such as Lake Erhai, artificial ecological enhancement using silver carp should be evaluated carefully before action is taken in order to assess the risk of increasing small algal blooms and nutrients. Herein, metallic sulfides (Zn x Cd 1-x S) with different molar ratio of Zn/Cd were constructed by a facile solvothermal technology and applied to photo-Fenton system as both catalyst and co-catalyst for the first time. The catalytic activity of photo-Fenton systems could be enhanced by adding any as-prepared samples. Moreover, photo-Fenton system containing ZCS-3 (molar ratio of Zn:Cd = 3:7) presented the highest degradation rate for Rhodamine B (RhB, 93.5%), which showed significant improvement compared with that of photo-system without ZCS-3(43.7%). The excellent performance of this photo-Fenton system was mainly ascribed to the synergistic effect between photocatalytic and co-catalytic of ZCS-3. EPR and XPS results confirmed that the Zn2+ in the ZCS-3 would be reduced to Zn+ by the •O2–, which generated under visible light irradiation in photo-Fenton system. Thereby, more Zn+/Zn2+ exposed on the ZCS-3 surface during this photo-Fenton reaction, ensuring the acceleration of conversion between Fe2+ and Fe3+. The catalytic mechanism revealed that the formation of stable double recycles of Zn2+/Zn+ and Fe2+/Fe3+ in catalytic process displayed prominent enhancement for the catalytic properties of the photo-Fenton system. Rebuilding a clear-water state dominated by submerged macrophytes is essential for addressing eutrophication, yet the impact of benthic fish on water quality is complex. We conducted two experiments to explore the interaction of submerged plants and benthic fish on the water quality. Experiment I investigated the water clearing effects of submerged macrophytes with varying coverage (from 0% to 40%) before and after the removal of benthic fish. Experiment II explored the impacts of benthic fish at different densities on aquatic ecosystems with and without submerged macrophytes. The results showed that an increase in submerged macrophytes coverage significantly enhanced the reduction of some major water quality parameters. We assert that the coverage of submerged macrophytes should not be lower than 40% to establish and sustain a clear-water state in shallow lakes. However, benthic fish significantly weaken the ability of submerged macrophytes to improve water quality. Surprisingly, the presence or absence of macrophytes may reverse the role of benthic fish in freshwater ecosystems. When macrophytes are present, benthic fish can cause water quality to deteriorate. Conversely, when macrophytes are absent, benthic fish with a density of ≤ 10 g/m 3 can restrict the growth of phytoplankton by directly consuming algae or by disturbing sediments to increase turbidity, thereby potentially improving water quality. But the detrimental effects of benthic fish with higher densities may gradually outweigh their benefits to water clarity. Therefore, the percentage of submerged macrophyte cover in combination with the density of benthic fish play crucial roles in shaping the ecological effects of benthic fish and overall ecosystem dynamics. Rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) have developed into one of the most attractive materials for large-scale energy storage owing to their advantages such as high energy density, low cost, and environmental friendliness. Nevertheless, the sluggish diffusion kinetics and inherent impoverished conductivity affect their practical application. Herein, the β-MnO 2 composited with carbon nanotubes (CNT@M) is prepared through a simple hydrothermal approach as a high-performance cathode for AZIBs. The CNT@M electrode exhibits excellent cycling stability, in which the maximum specific discharge capacity is 259 mA h g -1 at 3 A g -1 , and there is still 220 mA h g -1 after 2000 cycles. The specific capacity is obviously better than that of β-MnO 2 (32 mA h g -1 after 2000 cycles). The outstanding electrochemical performance of the battery is inseparable from the structural framework of CNT and inherent high conductivity. Furthermore, CNT@M can form a complex conductive network based on CNTs to provide excellent ion diffusion and charge transfer. Therefore, the active material can maintain a long-term cycle and achieve stable capacity retention. This research provides a reasonable solution for the reliable conception of Mn-based electrodes and indicates its potential application in high-performance AZIB cathode materials.

Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the frontline medical staff faced more workload and heavier physical and mental stress, which increased their job burnout and negative emotions. However, little is known about the potential factors mediating and moderating these relations. This study investigates the association between long working hours and depressive symptoms among frontline medical staff in China, and explores the potential mediating effect of job burnout, and moderating effect of family and organizational support on these associations., Methods: Data of 992 frontline medical staff who participated in the prevention and control of COVID-19 was obtained from the online survey conducted in November to December 2021 in China. Depressive symptoms were evaluated using the Patient Health Questionaire-9 (PHQ-9). Moderated mediating model was employed to understand the relationship between long working hours (X), depressive symptoms (Y) mediated through job burnout (M), moderated by family support (W1) and organizational support (W2), while controlling all possible covariates., Results: 56.96% of participants worked more than 8 h per day. 49.8% of them had depressive symptoms (PHQ-9 ≥ 5) and 65.8% experienced job-related burnout. Long working hours was positively associated with depressive symptoms score ( β  = 0.26, 95% CI:0.13 ~ 0.40). Mediation analyses revealed that job burnout significantly mediated this relationship (indirect effect = 0.17, 95% CI: 0.08 ~ 0.26). Moderated mediation further indicated that both two interactions of social support (family support W1, organizational support W2) and job burnout were negatively related to depressive symptoms among frontline medical staff, indicating that higher social support being less job burnout with lower depressive symptoms., Conclusion: Longer working hours and higher job burnout may contribute to worse mental health among frontline medical staff. A LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 cathode material with high surface orientation was prepared via a complexing reaction coupled with the elevated-temperature solid-state method. First, a bimetal-organic framework containing Ni 2+ and Mn 2+ ions was synthesized via a self-assembly route using pyromellitic acid (PMA) as a dispersant and complexing agent. This step was followed by calcination with lithium acetate using PMA as a structure-directing agent. The resulting LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 (M-LNMO) cathode material was investigated using X-ray diffraction, transmission and scanning electron microscopies, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and charge/discharge tests. For comparison, LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 samples were prepared by coprecipitation and the solid-phase method under the same conditions. M-LNMO was highly crystalline with low impurity, uniform grain size, and a preferred orientation in the (111) and (110) planes. Owing to these advantages, the M-LNMO cathode material exhibited overwhelmingly high cyclic stability and rate capability and M-LNMO delivered a capacity of 145 mAh g -1 at a discharge rate of 0.1C and a discharge capacity retention of 86.6% at 5C after 1000 cycles. Even at an extremely high discharge rate (10C), the specific capacity was 112.7 mAh g -1 , and 78.7% of its initial capacity was retained over 500 cycles. The superior electrochemical performance, particularly during a low-rate operation, was conferred by improved crystallinity and the crystal orientation of the particles.

In this work, a novel and facile one-pot method has been developed for the synthesis of a hybrid consisting of Ni-Mn-Co ternary oxide and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-polystyrenesulfonate (PEDOT-PSS/NMCO) with a hierarchical three-dimensional net structure via a solvothermal-coprecipitation coupled with oxidative polymerization route. Apart from the achievement of polymerization, coprecipitation, and solvothermal in one pot, the hydroxyl (OH(-)) ions generated from the oxidative polymerization of organic monomer by neutral KMnO4 solution were skillfully employed as precipitants for metal ions. As compared with the PEDOT-PSS/Ni-Mn binary oxide, PEDOT-PSS/Co-Mn binary oxide, and PEDOT-PSS/MnO2, PEDOT-PSS1.5/NMCO exhibits overwhelmingly superior supercapacitive performance, more specifically, a high specific capacitance of 1234.5 F g(-1) at a current density of 1 A g(-1), a good capacitance retention of 83.7% at a high current density of 5 A g(-1) after 1000 cycles, an energy density of 51.9 W h kg(-1) at a power density of 275 W kg(-1), and an energy density of 21.4 W h kg(-1) at an extremely elevated power density of 5500 W kg(-1). Noticeably, the energy density and power density of PEDOT-PSS/NMCO are by far higher than those of the existing analogues recently reported. The exceptional performance of PEDOT-PSS/NMCO benefits from its unique mesoporous architecture, which could provide a larger reaction surface area, faster ion and electron transfer ability, and good structural stability. The desirable integrated performance enables the multicomponent composite to be a promising electrode material for energy storage applications.
