Reclassification of massive datasets acquired through different approaches, such as web scraping, is a big challenge to demonstrate the effectiveness of a machine learning model. Notably, there is a strong influence of the quality of the dataset used for training those models. Thus, we propose a threshold algorithm as an efficient method to remove stopwords. This method employs an unsupervised classification technique, such as K-means, to accurately categorize user reviews from the IMDb dataset into their most suitable categories, generating a well-balanced dataset. Analysis of the performance of the algorithm revealed a notable influence of the text vectorization method used concerning the generation of clusters when assessing various preprocessing approaches. Moreover, the algorithm demonstrated that the word embedding technique and the removal of stopwords to retrieve the clustered text significantly impacted the categorization. The proposed method involves confirming the presence of a suggested stopword within each review across various genres. Upon satisfying this condition, the method assesses if the word's frequency exceeds a predefined threshold. The threshold algorithm yielded a mapping genre success above 80% compared to precompiled lists and a Zipf's law-based method. In addition, we employed the mini-batch K-means method for the clustering formation of each differently preprocessed dataset. This approach enabled us to reclassify reviews more coherently. Summing up, our methodology categorizes sparsely labeled data into meaningful clusters, in particular, by using a combination of the proposed stopword removal method and TF-IDF. Conceptual distance refers to the degree of proximity between two concepts within a conceptualization. It is closely related to semantic similarity and relationships, but its measurement strongly depends on the context of the given concepts. DIS-C represents an advancement in the computation of semantic similarity/relationships that is independent of the type of knowledge structure and semantic relations when generating a graph from a knowledge base (ontologies, semantic networks, and hierarchies, among others). This approach determines the semantic similarity between two indirectly connected concepts in an ontology by propagating local distances by applying an algorithm based on the All Pairs Shortest Path (APSP) problem. This process is implemented for each pair of concepts to establish the most effective and efficient paths to connect these concepts. The algorithm identifies the shortest path between concepts, which allows for an inference of the most relevant relationships between them. However, one of the critical issues with this process is computational complexity, combined with the design of APSP algorithms, such as Dijkstra, which is n 3 . This paper studies different alternatives to improve the DIS-C approach by adapting approximation algorithms, focusing on Dijkstra, pruned Dijkstra, and sketch-based methods, to compute the conceptual distance according to the need to scale DIS-C to analyze very large graphs; therefore, reducing the related computational complexity is critical. Tests were performed using different datasets to calculate the conceptual distance when using the original version of DIS-C and when using the influence area of nodes. In situations where time optimization is necessary for generating results, using the original DIS-C model is not the optimal method. Therefore, we propose a simplified version of DIS-C to calculate conceptual distances based on centrality estimation. The obtained results for the simple version of DIS-C indicated that the processing time decreased 2.381 times when compared to the original DIS-C version. Additionally, for both versions of DIS-C (normal and simple), the APSP algorithm decreased the computational cost when using a two-hop coverage-based approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research uses the computing of conceptual distance to measure information content in Wikipedia categories. The proposed metric, generality, relates information content to conceptual distance by determining the ratio of the information that a concept provides to others compared to the information that it receives. The DIS-C algorithm calculates generality values for each concept, considering each relationship's conceptual distance and distance weight. The findings of this study are compared to current methods in the field and found to be comparable to results obtained using the WordNet corpus. Several Sun models suggest a radioactive balance, where the concentration of greenhouse gases and the albedo effect are related to the Earth's surface temperature. There is a considerable increment in greenhouse gases due to anthropogenic activities. Climate change correlates with this alteration in the atmosphere and an increase in surface temperature. Efficient forecasting of climate change and its impacts could be helpful to respond to the threat of c.c. and develop sustainably. Many studies have predicted temperature changes in the coming years. The global community has to create a model that can realize good predictions to ensure the best way to deal with this warming. Thus, we propose a finite-time thermodynamic (FTT) approach in the current work. FTT can solve problems such as the faint young Sun paradox. Human activity recognition (HAR) is crucial to infer the activities of human beings, and to provide support in various aspects such as monitoring, alerting, and security. Distinct activities may possess similar movements that need to be further distinguished using contextual information. In this paper, we extract features for context-aware HAR using a convolutional neural network (CNN). Instead of a traditional CNN, a combined 3D-CNN, 2D-CNN, and 1D-CNN was designed to enhance the effectiveness of the feature extraction. Regarding the classification model, a weighted twin support vector machine (WTSVM) was used, which had advantages in reducing the computational cost in a high-dimensional environment compared to a traditional support vector machine. A performance evaluation showed that the proposed algorithm achieves an average training accuracy of 98.3% using 5-fold cross-validation. Ablation studies analyzed the contributions of the individual components of the 3D-CNN, the 2D-CNN, the 1D-CNN, the weighted samples of the SVM, and the twin strategy of solving two hyperplanes. The corresponding improvements in the average training accuracy of these five components were 6.27%, 4.13%, 2.40%, 2.29%, and 3.26%, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The global outburst of COVID-19 introduced severe issues concerning the capacity and adoption of healthcare systems and how vulnerable citizen classes might be affected. The pandemic generated the most remarkable transformation of health services, appropriating the increase in new information and communication technologies to bring sustainability to health services. This paper proposes a novel, methodological, and collaborative approach based on patient-centered technology, which consists of a recommender system architecture to assist the health service level according to medical specialties. The system provides recommendations according to the user profile of the citizens and a ranked list of medical facilities. Thus, we propose a health attention factor to semantically compute the similarity between medical specialties and offer medical centers with response capacity, health service type, and close user geographic location. Thus, considering the challenges described in the state-of-the-art, this approach tackles issues related to recommenders in mobile devices and the diversity of items in the healthcare domain, incorporating semantic and geospatial processing. The recommender system was tested in diverse districts of Mexico City, and the spatial visualization of the medical facilities filtering by the recommendations is displayed in a Web-GIS application. In our era of the technology-enabled entrepreneurship and technology-driven innovation, engineering education has a key role to promote a sustainable model for educating leaders and for creating new contexts for experimental and experiential learning. One of the key challenges modern Engineering Education faces is the fast integration of knowledge to curricula and the design of participatory and student-centered learning models. The nature of engineering problems requires a variety of skills and competencies that have to be developed. Mobile information systems agendas are increasingly becoming an essential part of human life and they play an important role in several daily activities. These have been developed for different contexts such as public facilities in smart cities, health care, traffic congestions, e-commerce, financial security, user-generated content, and crowdsourcing. In GIScience, problems related to routing systems have been deeply explored by using several techniques, but they are not focused on security or crime rates. In this paper, an approach to provide estimations defined by crime rates for generating safe routes in mobile devices is proposed. It consists of integrating crowd-sensed and official crime data with a mobile application. Thus, data are semantically processed by an ontology and classified by the Bayes algorithm. A geospatial repository was used to store tweets related to crime events of Mexico City and official reports that were geocoded for obtaining safe routes. A forecast related to crime events that can occur in a certain place with the collected information was performed. The novelty is a hybrid approach based on semantic processing to retrieve relevant data from unstructured data sources and a classifier algorithm to collect relevant crime data from official government reports with a mobile application. Smart cities are characterized by the use of massive information and digital communication technologies as well as sensor networks where the Internet and smart data are the core. This paper proposes a methodology to geocode traffic-related events that are collected from Twitter and how to use geocoded information to gather a training dataset, apply a Support Vector Machine method, and build a prediction model. This model produces spatiotemporal information regarding traffic congestions with a spatiotemporal analysis. Furthermore, a spatial distribution represented by heat maps is proposed to describe the traffic behavior of specific and sensed areas of Mexico City in a Web-GIS application. This work demonstrates that social media are a good alternative that can be leveraged to gather collaboratively Volunteered Geographic Information for sensing the dynamic of a city in which citizens act as sensors. The goal of this article is the application of a non-adaptive classification algorithm to support the variable management process for internal climate control. The protected agriculture has given many advantages for the care and improvement in the production of almost any food. This work is focused on improving a control system for climate variables. The decision for activating an actuator for the correct care of the crop is very important. A sorting network technique with predefined compare–interchange operations and designed to order data very efficiently is proposed. This approach has been applied to the process of handling actuators within a control system. An advantage of using the sorting networks is that it has an inflexibility when processing a data list; it always takes the same units of time and is executed in the same number of operations for an input size of n. Sorting network–based applications are scarce in the state-of-the-art because there are not many techniques that are effective for sorting very small data sizes. The use of sorting networks in the process of assessing the determination of actuators is proposed. This operation is scheduled in the design of control and performed at each reading back data. Objectives: Given the challenge of limiting the transmission of coronavirus disease 2019 while simultaneously continuing to provide medical care for other chronic and degenerative diseases and monitor therapy, a remote medical advice and guidance program was created to help individuals receive health services at their homes., Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional, and observational study was performed from April 13, 2020 to April 19, 2021 among Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) health services beneficiaries. Mobile text messages were used to assign patients throughout Mexico to a doctor, who coordinated a video call with the nursing service for advice and remote care., Results: In total, 17,472 calls were registered, with an average duration of 10.28 minutes. Almost half (49.4%) of the people who requested attention through the remote program were workers, 31.5% were workers' relatives, and 19.1% were retired workers. The average age of the program users was 50.66 ± 18.02 years. A total of 144 doctors from 28 different specialties participated. In this program, 7,163 calls were made because of respiratory symptoms, 1,514 for therapeutic monitoring (prescriptions), and 8,183 because of other diseases, including mental health., Conclusions: Remote healthcare programs have shown the potential to support the health system. This program is the first to deploy real-time video calls with a health team utilizing institutional electronic clinical records in Mexico. The implementation of this pandemic management program impacted the number of consultations given remotely, resulting in effective triage.
