International audience; Here we describe the first campaign launched by the Perseverance rover to detect frost during the first Martian year of operations (669 sols as of Jan 5, 2023). This campaign was conceived, developed and executed following lessons learnt from the Mars Science Laboratory Mission, where frost was likely detected [1].Between sols 546 and 548 during northern winter (Ls ~297), measurements of ground temperature and relative humidity by the Mars Environmental Dynamics Analyzer (MEDA, [2]) were used to predict frost formation, while SuperCam laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) and Raman spectrometer measurements [3,4] were used to detect frost formation on a target informally called Snowy Mountain. While the measured ground temperature fell below the estimated frost point, and therefore frost was predicted by MEDA, neither H enrichment in LIBS measurements nor Raman peaks associated with water ice were detected by SuperCam.

El objetivo del presente trabajo es examinar los modos en que el ‘yo’ se manifiesta en la poesía yámbica de Hiponacte de Éfeso (s. VI a.

The objective of this work is the conservation by modern digital means of the architectural firsts located in the city of Riobamba, an interactive photographic repository was designed in which 360° aerial shots were used. A mixed methodology was used, both qualitative and quantitative, employing methods such as documentary, descriptive, population and survey techniques, interview and observation sheets, investigating the first fruits for their historical relevance and social impact, subsequently, a buyer persona was developed to determine the user who occupied the repository, official data and information from government entities was sought with the use of the interview, The data obtained were analyzed in order to facilitate the photographic taking and move on to the creative phase, formulating guiding ideas that gave feasible solutions in the design of the proposal. With what was learned in the experimentation, the final design was started, the photographs went through a process of digital development, colorization and digital stitching; In addition, a third process of composition - punctual edition, all equirectangular shots were transferred to the panoraven platform, facilitating the creation of the repository with a contribution of interactivity, a hotspot tour and informative texts were used with the option of infospot, to reinforce the interactivity a map was added so that people know the location of the scoops and a gyroscope to create a better experience on the cell phone and adaptability on various platforms. These processes resulted in an interactive digital photographic repository of easy access, dissemination, functional and with the logo "Riobamba city of the first fruits" this identifying resource of the city was preserved, finally it can be concluded that the use of new technologies is essential to reach new generations, being essential that government entities invest in these cultural resources, which enhance tourism and consequently activate the economy of the city of Riobamba. DIURNAL cloud variations ,AEROSOLS ,DUST storms ,ICE clouds ,MARS (Planet) ,TROPOSPHERIC aerosols ,INFRARED radiation - Abstract
The two upward‐looking Thermal InfraRed Sensor (TIRS) channels from the Mars Environmental Dynamics Analyzer (MEDA) instrument suite on board the Perseverance rover enable the retrieval of total aerosol optical depth (dust plus water ice cloud) above the rover for all observations when TIRS is taken. Because TIRS observes at thermal infrared wavelengths, the retrievals are possible during both the day and night and thus, they provide an excellent way to monitor both the diurnal and seasonal variations of aerosols above Jezero Crater. A retrieval algorithm has been developed for this purpose and here, we describe that algorithm along with our results for the first 400 sols of the Perseverance mission covering nearly the entire aphelion season as well as a regional dust storm and the beginning of the perihelion season. We find systematic diurnal variations in aerosol optical depth that can be associated with dust and water ice clouds as well as a clear change from a cloud‐filled aphelion season to a perihelion season where dust is the dominant aerosol. A comparison of retrieved optical depths between TIRS and the SkyCam camera that is also part of MEDA indicates evidence of possible diurnal variations in cloud height or particle size. Plain Language Summary: Observations made by the Thermal InfraRed Sensor (TIRS) instrument on the Perseverance rover enable the amount of airborne dust and clouds above the rover to be determined. The TIRS instrument observes thermal infrared radiation so it can observe the dust and clouds both during the day and night. Here, we present results for the first 13 months of observations by TIRS. These results show that the dust and clouds vary as a function of season on Mars and as a function of the time of day. At the beginning of the period of time studied here, there were more clouds than dust, and the clouds were maximum just before dawn and just after dusk. Later in the season, dust became the dominant aerosol, with the diurnal maximum near midday. Key Points: The Thermal InfraRed Sensor (TIRS) upward‐looking sensors enable the retrieval of total aerosol optical depth during both day and nightAerosol optical depth shows clear diurnal and seasonal trends. Diurnal maximum opacity is near dawn for clouds and near noon for dustTIRS retrievals of aerosol optical depth can detail the complex time history of rapidly changing events such as dust storms [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
A multidisciplinary examination of the forms taken by withdrawal. What forms does withdrawal—meaning either that which withdraws itself or which is being withdrawn—take in artistic and cultural practices? What movements does it create or follow in specific contexts, and with what theoretical, material, and political consequences? The contributors to this book address these questions in a variety of writing practices, each focusing on specific scenes. Through interviews, artistic and literary texts, visual contributions, and academic texts, On Withdrawal explores various modalities of withdrawal, ranging from a silencing of critical voices to a political and aesthetic strategy of refusal. BACKGROUND: In recent years, the discharge of heavy metal ions in natural waters has become a serious problem. Among the various techniques that have been employed for heavy metal removal, adsorption is highly effective and economical because low-cost adsorbents can be employed. Brown algae are a potential biosorbent because of their high uptake capacities for various heavy metal ions. Petalonia fascia biomass immobilized in an agar matrix was tested as a new removal agent of MoVI from contaminated waters. RESULTS: Sorption studies were performed in batch and continuous systems. Petalonia fascia has a high adsorption capacity (1376 ± 2 mg g−1) at 20 °C and pH 1.0. Participation of hydroxyl and carboxylate functional groups in the adsorption of molybdate anions was confirmed by FT-IR analysis. SEM images showed that morphological surface changes happen after MoVI sorption. Mean free energies of sorption and activation parameters demonstrate that the sorption mechanism was chemical sorption. MoVI sorption onto brown seaweed surface was spontaneous and exothermic. Petalonia fascia has an energetically heterogeneous surface. Continuous sorption data were best fitted by a modified dose–response model. Scale-up of the sorption processes was achieved applying a bed depth service time (BDST) model. The critical bed depth, Z0 was 1.7 cm. CONCLUSIONS: Petalonia fascia biomass is a good adsorbent material for MoVI and it can be used in fixed bed columns for the purification of MoVI contaminated effluents. The high value of qmax and the low cost of this seaweed make this biomass a good sorbent for use in continuous treatment of groundwater and effluents contaminated with molybdate anions. © 2016 Society of Chemical Industry. The aim of this study was to analyze the biochemical alterations in the golden mussel Limnoperna fortune i under dietary glyphosate exposure. Mussels were fed during 4 weeks with the green algae Scenedesmus vacuolatus previously exposed to a commercial formulation of glyphosate (6 mg L −1 active principle) with the addition of alkyl aryl polyglycol ether surfactant. After 1, 7, 14, 21 and 28 days of dietary exposure, glutathione-S-transferase (GST), catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), acetylcholinesterase (AChE), carboxylesterases (CES) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activities, glutathione (GSH) content and damage to lipids and proteins levels were analyzed. A significant increase (72%) in the GST activity and a significant decrease (26%) in the CES activity in the mussels fed on glyphosate exposed algae for 28 days were observed. The ALP activity was significantly increased at 21 and 28 days of dietary exposure (48% and 72%, respectively). GSH content and CAT, SOD and AchE activities did not show any differences between the exposed and non exposed bivalves. No oxidative damage to lipids and proteins, measured as TBARS and carbonyl content respectively, was observed in response to glyphosate dietary exposure. The decrease in the CES activity and the increases in GST and ALP activities observed in L . fortunei indicate that dietary exposure to glyphosate provokes metabolic alterations, related with detoxification mechanisms. The Mars Environmental Dynamics Analyzer (MEDA) is a suite of environmental sensors onboard NASA’s Mars 2020 mission. The Thermal InfraRed Sensor (TIRS), developed at Centro de Astrobiología of Spain, is one of the six sensors comprising MEDA, and it will measure the net thermal infrared radiation and reflected solar radiation at the surface, as well as the atmospheric and surface skin temperatures using five different channels. In combination with MEDA's other sensors, TIRS will allow the quantification of the surface energy budget and the determination of key geophysical properties of the terrain such as the albedo and thermal inertia. Here we present a general description of the TIRS, its channels scientific requirements, and the mechanical and thermal design. Then, a detailed sensor mathematical model and a sensitivity analysis to model uncertainties are described. Some characterization test results to model parameters identification are included. Finally, accuracy and resolution calculus for each channel versus operational temperature is presented. The calculus is performed based on sensitivity equations, the practical tests results and the estimated values for different uncertainty sources. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
To adequately and efficiently evaluate patients with gastrointestinal symptoms in the context of axial spondyloarthritis can be difficult, considering that many of these patients suffer from chronic pain, present high inflammatory parameters, and use drugs with possible gastrointestinal adverse effects. In addition, the immunosuppressive treatments that these patients can receive make it necessary to always consider infections within the differential diagnoses of inflammatory bowel disease. In this article, we propose a practical approach to patients diagnosed with axial spondyloarthritis and suspected inflammatory bowel disease., Competing Interests: Disclosure The authors have no commercial or financial conflicts of interest to disclose, and no funding sources to report., (Copyright © 2020 Elsevier Inc.
