This study explores how foreign direct investment (FDI), material footprint, economic growth, and information and communication technology (ICT) influence the load capacity factor (LCF) in 37 Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries. The analysis leverages data spanning 1970 to 2019 and employs a range of robust econometric techniques (FM-OLS, D-OLS, DSUR). The findings reveal a surprising yet significant positive association between material footprint and LCF. Conversely, economic growth, FDI, and ICT all exhibit negative relationships with LCF. Interestingly, a causal analysis suggests that these variables-ICT, material footprint, and economic growth-have a two-way influence on LCF, meaning they both affect and are affected by it. These insights highlight the complex interplay between economic development, material footprint, and technological advancement in shaping SSA's LCF. As globalization continues to shape the global economic landscape, understanding its intricate relationship with economic growth remains paramount in regions like sub-Saharan Africa. Hence, this study presents a comprehensive analysis of globalization's impact on economic growth in sub-Saharan Africa from 1971 to 2019. Using panel data from reputable databases on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), World Development Indicators, Penn World Table 10.0, and Our World Data, the paper explores various dimensions of globalization, including economic, social, and political factors. The feasible generalized least square (FGLS) estimation technique was used to analyze data. Findings reveal nuanced dynamics, with social and financial globalization indices showing positive effects on economic growth and statistically significant at 1% significance level. Additionally, this study uncovers the influence of demographic indicators, government consumption, and the rule of law on economic growth. The result of the study revealed demographic indicators, government consumption, and the rule of law had statistically significant impacts on the economic growth of sub-Sahara Africa. In contrast, certain aspects of economic globalization exhibit negative impacts. However, political, trade, information, and cultural globalization had no significant impact on economic growth of the region. It is important to recognize that the absence of significant effects does not necessarily imply an absence of impact, but rather reflects the multifaceted nature of globalization's influence on economic growth. Several factors, including differences in the periods analyzed, may account for the differences in these results compared to previous studies. This study not only adds to the existing literature on globalization and economic growth but also offers valuable insights for policymakers tasked with promoting sustainable development in sub-Saharan Africa. By acknowledging the complexities of globalization's impact, policy makers can formulate more effective strategies to harness its benefits while mitigating its potential drawbacks. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of globalization's role in economic development, laying the foundation for evidence-based policy interventions tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities facing sub-Saharan Africa. Purpose: This study aims to shed light on the experience of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in balancing three main pillars: the environmental criteria, the reduction of CO2 emissions and the economic growth. Based on the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) framework, it will assess the causal relationship between economic indicators such as gross domestic product (GDP) per capita, trade openness and energy use and environmental indicators such as CO2 emissions. Design/methodology/approach: The analysis relies on a period of 40 years (1981–2020) where data is extracted from the World Bank database. This study uses the unit root test for time series stationarity, the optimal lag length test, the "Johansen" test for co-integration and the vector error correction model. Findings: The paper concludes to two major findings. On a short-term basis, CO2 emissions and economic indicators are negatively correlated, whereas on a long-term basis, there is no association between CO2 emissions and economic indicators in the UAE. Research limitations/implications: The research ends with important recommendations. It illustrates the importance of rationalizing the use of primary resources and the necessity to embrace successful and efficient policies in the energy production. Practical implications: More specifically, UAE is urged to address the problem of CO2 emissions in the electricity sector and increase awareness of the use of environmentally friendly processes in the transport and industrial sectors. While setting their economic agendas, UAE are encouraged to meet environmental criteria and invest in renewable energy projects such as "Shams 1", the largest solar power plant outside of Spain and the USA. Originality/value: The current study is significant in its research on the environmental impact of economic development, trade openness and energy use policies in the UAE. Scholars have given enormous attention to the roles of energy use and trade in economic growth strategies; however, recent international trade literature suggests that not merely the volume of trade but the diversification of goods may have a potential effect on economic growth. Thus, this paper uses the diversification of export goods and diversification of import goods as explanatory variables along with energy consumption and assessed the role of these important variables in economic development. The empirical results from Westerlund's (J Appl Econom 23:193–233, 2008) and Westerlund's (Oxf Bull Econ Stat 69:709–748, 2007) tests disclosed the existence of cointegration. The long-run estimations obtained from the CUP-FM technique revealed that both import and export product diversifications positively influence economic growth. This presents a vital opportunity for emerging nations to expand growth by diversifying export and import products. Likewise, energy use, labor, and capital contribute to increasing economic growth. The estimates from the causality test illustrated bidirectional causality between export diversification and economic growth and unidirectional causality from energy to export diversification. This study aims to investigate the impact of the banking sector on economic growth and commodity prices. Through panel data analysis, the research explores the relationship between the banking sector and economic growth in Spain, France, and Romania from 2000 to 2020. The findings reveal a positive correlation between the strength of the banking sector and economic growth across these nations, underscoring its pivotal role in fostering economic expansion and subsequently improving commodity prices. Additionally, this study evaluates various regulatory measures crucial ensuring the banking sector's sustainability and preventing financial crises, including credit risk management, lending policies, liquidity constraints, and international financing and investment strategies. By analyzing the interplay between regulatory measures and banking sector performance, incorporating variables such as non-performing loans, household debt, liquid liabilities, government consumption expenditure, foreign investments, and trade openness, this research provides policymakers with valuable insights to formulate effective strategies for promoting economic stability and ensuring the sustainability and growth of the banking sector. This research aims to examine the effects of the development in the higher education and financial sector on economic growth in the case of North Cyprus. Findings of time series data show that there is a long-term equilibrium relationship between real income and its elements such as labor, capital, higher education, and financial growth. Results show that both capital and labor have a statistically significant effect on economic growth. Additionally, development in the financial sector is a significant contributor to economic growth, however, higher education shows evidence of greater contribution to economic growth in North Cyprus. It draws attention that the higher education sector has a greater impact on economic development than the financial sector. In this context, government authorities should support both the financial and higher education sectors in order to accelerate their contribution to economic development. This study examined the relationship between Islamic financial inclusion and economic development in Indonesia and Iraq using panel data from 2000 to 2014. The study used variables such as GDP per capita growth, education, inflation, government consumption, trade openness, domestic credit, loans by Islamic financial institutions, the rule of law, and regulatory quality. The findings showed significant variation across countries and periods regarding economic development, education, and the adoption of Islamic finance. Correlation analysis revealed both positive and negative relationships between the variables. Panel unit root and cross-sectional dependency tests highlighted the need for advanced methods to analyze panel data. Panel co-integration tests suggested evidence of a long-term relationship between Islamic financial inclusion and economic development. The FMOLS estimators demonstrated the significance and direction of the relationships. The study provided insights into the role of Islamic financial inclusion in promoting economic development in Indonesia and Iraq, emphasizing the potential benefits of integrating Islamic finance into the financial systems of these countries. The purpose of the study is to investigate the impact of stock market development on economic growth for nine developed European countries. In many countries, the stock market (SM), is considered. one of the crucial elements for promoting sustainable economic growth and development. By analysing data from nine developed European countries over 21 years, from 2000 to 2020, including Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Turkey, and Poland, this study seeks to determine the effect of the stock. market. on economic growth. The years 2021 and 2022 are not included due to the lack of data, mainly as a result of the pandemic period. The dataset, extracted from the World Bank database, is used to generate results by applying different econometric models such as OLS, OLS Robust, Fixed, and the Random Effect, which turned out to be more suitable in this study. According to research, macroeconomic factors such as stock. market development (SMD), and inflation (INF), have a significant positive impact while, domestic credit to the private sector (DC), has a negative significant impact on economic growth, in respective periods and countries. Therefore, new research on this topic could help better understand the stock market's impact on economic growth, and new conclusions might greatly benefit developed European countries. This research explored the relationship between financial development and economic growth in the MENA region from 1996 to 2022. Using panel data, it assessed whether financial institutions and financial markets had differing impacts on economic growth. Various statistical methods, including OLS, GMM, quantile, and U-tests, were employed to analyze this correlation. Our findings revealed a nonlinear relationship between financial development (institutions and markets) and economic growth, characterized by an inverted U-shaped curve. This relationship was influenced by the MENA region's limited financial regulations and the "vanishing effect". Financial institutions were found to have an insignificant impact on economic growth but played a role in constraining it. Conversely, financial markets significantly contributed to growth initially, but this effect diminished over time, eventually turning negative. Additionally, this research highlighted the positive influences of liquidity and exports on economic growth, while noting that the rule of law and political stability had adverse effects. It is hypothesized that a well-functioning financial market is necessary but not sufficient condition to achieve the expected economic growth. Therefore, policy instruments of government aimed at streamlining financial sector activity in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) are imperative. As a result, this paper explores the effect of financial development on economic growth by allowing the link between the two far variables to be mediated by the quality of institutions for the period 2000–2019. Using Twenty-nine (29) countries and the System-Generalized Method of Moments (system-GMM) estimation method, it is found that financial development has a positive and significant effect on economic growth. In addition, it is found that, when rule of law, political stability, and regulatory quality are highly effective, the positive effect of financial development on economic growth is magnified. Research and Development (R&D) in particular and innovation in general are the best drivers of long-run sustainable economic growth and spending in R&D has been recognized as one of the means to the economic accomplishment of both developed and developing countries. However, the sustainability of the association between R&D & economic growth exclusively depends upon the performance of other macroeconomic determinants. Hence, we examine the effect of R&D on economic growth in the existence of five important macroeconomic determinants. The study focusses on 151 selected countries, including both developed and developing, over the period 1996-2020 and focused on the macro-level analysis. Our research is based on the deployment of system Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) technique. The GMM technique encompasses longitudinal data; and is gathered by pooling time-series across a pool of cross-sectional units, specifically countrywise. The biggest advantage of using the GMM technique is that it allows for addressing the endogeneity problem using lagged explanatory variables as instrumental variables. We have three samples in our analysis, namely pool of developed countries, pool of developing countries, and the pool of both developed and developing countries. Our study deploys four proxies of R&D to work the nexus between R&D and economic growth in presence of five important macroeconomic determinants. In each of these three samples, we run four GMM models, depending upon the deployment of four R&D activities that we used in this study. We observe an evidence that R&D plays a significant role in economic growth when the selected macroeconomic determinants are used as control variables. Our findings are mostly robust to R&D specifications, country specifications, model specifications, and estimation strategies. Most importantly, the effect of lagged economic growth is highly positive, signifying that economies with higher economic growth in the previous years tend to grow faster in presence of R&D intensity. The behaviour of other macroeconomic variables is having diverse nature. Some of these variables behave positively, while others behave negatively. This study suggests that policymakers should focus on improving R&D activities and strengthening the chosen macroeconomic determinants to facilitate economic development. Hence, it contributes to the ongoing policy debate, that is with reference to R&D effect on economic growth, on the finest strategies for attaining sustainable economic growth in all these selected countries. The reach and scope of microinsurance have expanded considerably over the last couple of decades. The literature on microinsurance focuses predominantly on its microeconomic impact. In contrast, I examine the contemporaneous and intertemporal effect of microinsurance on economic development using rich census data of microinsurance coverage in African economies. Estimates suggest that microinsurance affects economic growth both on impact and over time, with the magnitude of the intertemporal effect exceeding that of the contemporaneous effect. Evidence also suggests nonlinearities in the microinsurance–growth nexus. The marginal effect of microinsurance is a negative function of the starting level of development. For low-income countries, microinsurance has a robust positive effect on economic growth, both in terms of impact and over time. However, microinsurance may fail to leave a lasting trace on the aggregate economy in "richer" developing countries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

From a theoretical point of view, a more diversified economy across all major sectors has more potential to grow and is more resilient to survive external shocks than more sectoral concentrated economies. The economy's diversification is a process; in most cases, structural change is required through policy implementation. The primary aim of this study was to analyze the relationships between the level of diversity (Tress Index) across sectors of the economy, GDP per capita (a proxy for economic development), domestic investment, employment and exports. The Gauteng province was selected as the study region because this region is a leading economic region in South Africa and the African continent. A quantitative methodology used time series secondary data from 1993 to 2021, with the diversification index selected as the dependent variable. Interesting results were achieved, leading to a new theory in development economics. When a region experiences an economic down-swing, sectoral concentration occurs, while diversification across sectors occurs in an economic growth environment. A positive relationship has been identified between economic diversification and the predictive variables, including economic development, domestic investment, employment and export. A policy of increased diversification across all economic sectors is a viable economic development strategy developing countries should implement within an environment for growth and investment. Since its independence, Tunisia has embarked on monetary and financial sector reforms aimed at boosting economic growth. However, these reforms have not been effective due to inflation pressures in this country. Thus, this paper examines the nature of the relationship between financial development and economic growth between 1965 and 2019, using the non-linear logistic smooth transition regression model and considering inflation as a threshold financial development. The results show the existence of a non-linear abrupt relationship with an inflation threshold equal to 3.63%. Specifically, when inflation is below 3.63%, all variables, including inflation, have a significant and positive impact on economic growth. However, when inflation exceeds the estimated threshold, inflation has a significant and negative impact with an elasticity equal to − 0.365. To effectively manage inflation, the Tunisian authorities are encouraged to set and embrace specific inflation targets as a goal. This approach aims to mitigate inflationary pressures and foster a favourable environment for financial development in Tunisia, thereby promoting economic growth. Hence, it becomes imperative to implement such measures that alleviate inflationary pressures and drive economic growth through the facilitation of development finance by the banking sector. This paper is undertaken to investigate the role of institutional quality in proportion to the economic growth of war-torn countries during the last 20 years. Within this framework, the paper employed three different models to investigate the link that exists between good governance indicators and economic growth. According to the results, the long-run PMG model indicated that political stability and regulatory quality increase war-torn countries' economic development. Contrarily, it has been demonstrated that the situation of law and corruption in these countries reduces economic growth. Neither the long-term nor short-term estimations from the MG and DFE models showed any noteworthy results. Next, the FMOLS and DOLS revealed that political stability, voice and accountability have a favorable effect on the economic development of these nations. On the other hand, these nations' regulatory standards had a very detrimental impact on economic growth. Lastly, the fixed-effects model showed that a 1% improvement in these nations' political stability will result in a 4.5% increase in GDP. This research will aid managers, academics, and policymakers in determining the course of actions needed in their areas of specialization or nations of interest to ensure economic growth and put in place an effective institutional framework through enforced supervision. The low level of domestic capital formation experienced in most developing economies coupled with the desire for sustainable economic growth has necessitated the need to seek assistance in the form of foreign direct investment (FDI) to bridge the savings-investment gap. This study, therefore, examined the impact of FDI and domestic capital formation on the economic growth of Nigeria. Data were sourced from CBN statistical bulletin from 1986-2021 using Autoregressive distributed lag coupled with Granger causality tests. The result showed that domestic capital formation has an insignificant positive impact on economic growth while FDI revealed an insignificant negative relationship. Exchange rate, interest rate, and inflation rate showed an insignificant negative relationship with the economic growth of Nigeria. It was therefore recommended that governments at various levels should create an enabling environment conducive to domestic capital formation and investment process bearing in mind the stability of macroeconomic variables in the country. This research aims to identify the impact of agriculture, forest and fishing value-added on international business, capital flow, and economic growth for India from 2000 to 2022, by examining short-term and long-term equilibrium using the Auto Regressive Distributive lag (ARDL) approach. Agriculture value added is taken as a dependent variable, and inward Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), stock of net FDI, economic growth and trade openness are taken as independent variables. Results indicate that there exists a long-term and short-term relationship between agriculture value added, economic growth and trade openness. Economic growth and trade openness have a statistically significant relationship with agricultural value added in the short and long run. Inward FDI and stock of FDI are not significant to agriculture value added. ARDL Bound test results indicate that there is a long-term cointegrating relation among the variables. The error correction term is also strong and significant (−13.96), suggesting resistance to shocks. Existing literatures coverage on agriculture and international business is scarce in the Indian context, and this research will be significant in that line. The results of this study resonate with the findings of a few studies conducted in other geographical areas, indicating the fact that the receptivity and absorptive capacity prevailing in an economy play a dominant role in receiving maximum benefits from inward capital flow leading to economic growth. This research reinstates that agriculture still influences economic growth in India. Openness is essential for creating a conducive atmosphere for economic development. The relationship between financial development and economic growth has been widely debated in the economics literature, but the results have been inconsistent and vary between the short and long run. In this study, we investigate the causal relationship between financial development and economic growth in Ethiopia using annual data from 1980 to 2021. We employ the Toda-Yamamoto causality test and the nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL) modeling framework to analyze the data. Our results show that none of the variables are stationary at the level, but after applying first differences, all variables become stationary. Using the Toda-Yamamoto causality test, we find no causality running from financial development to economic growth, but there is evidence of reverse causality from economic growth to financial development. Furthermore, the NARDL model results suggest that economic growth drives financial development, and the relationship between financial development and economic growth in Ethiopia is nonlinear and asymmetric. Specifically, neither positive nor negative shocks to economic growth affect financial development in the short run, but both affect it in the long run and in joint short run and long run effects. We conclude from our study that financial development may not guarantee economic growth without building better institutions and following sound and stable fiscal policies. Consequently, constructing an effective economic growth strategy that maintains financial development is crucial. Our findings have significant implications for policymakers, academics, and investors and underscore the importance of informed decision-making based on a thorough understanding of the relationship between financial development and economic growth. China's rapid economic development has attracted worldwide attention, but the resulting environmental problems also cannot be ignored. Whether environmental regulations can achieve a win–win situation between "green" and "economic growth" has become the focus of academic circles. While related studies have examined environmental regulation through the "Cost-following theory" and "Porter hypothesis", they have mostly focused on a particular region or province, thus neglecting the spatial effects. The spatial effects of environmental regulation are important to study because of the overall environmental correlation across regions and especially adjacent provinces. This paper extends the "cost-following theory" and the "Porter hypothesis" to the spatial perspective and proposes two hypotheses, respectively. Through the spatial expansion of environmental regulation theory, this paper not only analyses the direct effect of local environmental regulation on local economic growth, but also the spatial spillover effect of adjacent provinces' environmental regulation on local economic growth. The empirical results show that the relationship between environmental regulation and economic growth in China is consistent with the spatial perspective of "Cost-following theory", but not with the spatial perspective of "Porter hypothesis". Through the above analysis, this paper is able to address the issues of how to make environmental regulation policies in adjacent provinces or regions as a whole, and how to coordinate environmental regulation with economic growth in adjacent regions. Motivation: In the last years, a lot of attention has been paid to economic inequality -- a phenomenon that may lead to what some commentators predict as the end of capitalism. At the same time some economists believe that the economic inequalities are natural and excessive inequalities can be reduced through the process of economic growth. The natural starting point in the discussion concerning the relation between inequality and economic growth is the theory proposed by Simon Kuznets, according to which inequality rises in the early phases of economic development but falls eventually as the growth advances, taking the shape of the inverse-U shaped pattern. The empirical validity of the so-called "Kuznets curve" has been intensively investigated, but the evidence is ambiguous. In this context re-examining Kuznets theory in CEE countries is interesting especially because of the observed rapid economic growth as a result of structural transformation in these countries. Aim: The aim of the study is an attempt to investigate the nature of relation between economic growth and income inequality levels in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) countries in years 2004-2020 and verify if the analysed relation is taking an inverse-U shape as indicated by the Kuznets curve. Results: The results of conducted analysis indicate that the evidence for an inverted-U shaped relation between inequality levels and economic growth in CEE countries is much less robust than what is implied by Kuznets curve theory. The maritime industry is significant to the growth and development of nations. The relationship between shipping trade and economic growth in Nigeria is acknowledged in the literature. Still, the need to emphasise the role of shipping import and export volume and exchange rate volatility in Nigeria's economic growth remains. The economic growth and development level that a maritime nation will derive from its ocean depends on its import and export volumes in the face of exchange rate volatility. Using the Vector Error Correction Model, this study analyses the effect of shipping trade on economic growth in Nigeria from 1970 to 2020. The study examines the effect of seaport imports, exports, and real exchange rates on GDP to determine if Nigeria's economic growth is sustainable, that is if the current pattern of shipping imports and exports for economic growth will not hamper future economic development. The cointegration test established a short- and long-term causality from import, export and exchange rates to GDP. The result showed that Nigeria's economic growth is import-dependent and that, in the long run, import and exchange rates significantly affect GDP. The study further indicates that the present export volume does not significantly contribute to GDP growth. The results imply that building an economic system on an import-dominated trade system is not sustainable for future development. This research investigated the nexus between public spending on infrastructural development and economic growth: evidence from Nigeria. As a matter of urgency, there is a need for the Nigerian government to invest in infrastructure for sustainable economic growth since infrastructural development touches all human fields of endeavors in one way or another. Notably, despite the country's pole position in the economic ranking in Africa, Nigeria's infrastructural state still falls short, which has led to negative economic growth in recent years. Therefore, it is pertinent in this study to unravel the causes and the missing gaps between increasing fiscal spending on infrastructure and slow economic growth in Nigeria. Interestingly, Autoregressive Distributed Lags and cointegration techniques were adopted to investigate whether there are long interactions between economic advancement and public funding of social amenities in the case of Nigeria. Furthermore, post-estimation tests were carried out to ascertain the validity of the models adopted in the study. The investigations from the study showed that short and long-run nexus subsists between government investment in infrastructure and economic growth in Nigeria. Hence, to address the problems underpinning this research, the study recommended that a proactive policy framework be used to promote economic growth via a redesigned fiscal framework in Nigeria. Also, protective laws and acts to safeguard the existing infrastructures should be wellpronounced and adopted by policymakers to expand the productive life span of social goods. This research examines the potential impact of economic growth, carbon emissions, trade, and energy use on tourism development in Pakistan from 1980 to 2018. This study employed the Autoregressive Distributed Lagged technique for the simultaneous estimations of short and long-run associations. The study found a positive impact of energy use, economic growth, and trade openness on tourism development in the short and long run. On the other hand, the study reveals a negative impact of CO2 emissions on tourism development in Pakistan. The study further applied an innovative accounting approach for robust results of the study. The study based on Toda Yamamoto causality approach revealed unidirectional causal association among the study variables. The results, thus, suggest the change in investment decisions as the government and policy makers should encourage investments in services sector rather than polluting industrial sector as the services sector is less polluting and leading sector of the economy. This research aims to study the relationship between economic growth and the increase in the tourism sector in Italy. Unlike most of the literature, we use the value added in the main economic sectors involved in tourism activity as a proxy for tourism development. The use of the tourism value added allows us to analyze the effect of both international and domestic tourism on per capita GDP growth. The main working hypothesis we tested is whether the relationship between GDP growth and the expansion of the tourism sector is in any way influenced by the geographic area referenced and/or the time period considered. Accordingly, we conducted our analysis at both the national and subnational (cluster) levels, splitting the original sample into two equal subperiods (1997–2008 and 2009–2019). The panel VAR analysis shows that for the country as a whole, tourism growth depends on the past value of the economic growth rate, especially for the subperiod 2009–2019. To investigate the effects of the European Union's (EU) member nations' shared sovereignty on economic growth. The member nations have lost substantial political and economic independence (sovereignty) and democracy. Therefore, their governments cannot facilitate rapid economic growth in their countries, affecting the EU as a whole. Data from the World Bank, institutional research entities, and the EU were utilized. The dependent variable is economic growth, and the independent and moderating variables are mainly institutions and the European Sovereignty Index. Shared sovereignty and its specific categories and foreign direct investment (FDI) outflows negatively impact economic development in the EU. Shared sovereignty negatively moderates the relationship between political rights and economic development and between FDI outflows and economic development. Democracy in member nations is formal rather than real. The present study focused on the EU's problems rather than its achievements and empirically investigated the direct and moderating effects of national sovereignty and member-country institutions on member-country economic growth. This focus and the nature of the investigation constitute the originality of the present study and reduce the gap in the literature about the effects of sovereignty, institutions, and capital spillovers (FDI outflows) on economic growth in Europe. In changing context of the present-day world, trade openness has a crucial role to play in economic development of different countries. Besides other factors, institutional quality plays a vibrant role in achieving a high growth rate. The objective of the present study is to understand how institutional quality influences economic growth and trade openness in India. To achieve the objectives of the study, Autoregressive Distributed Lag bound testing approach has been used. The findings show that there exists long-run relationship between the variables used in this study. From the findings, it can be concluded that total trade has a negative impact, whereas export enhances economic growth in the country. The results also show that improvement in institutional quality has a positive impact on economic growth. Bangladesh's economy has flourished a great deal during recent years, establishing itself as an enthralling market. This country's remarkable growth trajectory can be attributed to technological innovation, foreign direct investment, trade and human capital, all of which have significant impacts on its economic growth. Bangladesh's economic development has been poorly explored in previous studies due to the lack of integration between these dynamics. Does the question arise whether this growth factors have a symmetrical or non-symmetrical effect on Bangladesh's economic growth and policymaking? We conducted this study with the primary objective of evaluating how technological innovation, foreign direct investment, trade, and human capital affect Bangladesh's economic development. Based on time series data years spanning 1990 to 2020, this study used the dynamic ARDL simulation method to accomplish its objective. This novel approach allows users to examine possible counterfactual changes in variables based on the ceteris paribus theory, as well as to test cointegration, long- and short-run symmetric associations between variables. Research findings indicate that technological innovation and human capital have a long-run symmetric relationship with Bangladesh's economic development. There is a significant correlation found between economic growth and all variables in the short run. To further check the robustness of the study we employed the nonlinear ARDL approach. Therefore, this study can undoubtedly be used by policymakers and the government as a basis for prioritizing and encouraging critical policy changes that will improve Bangladesh's economic development. This study examines the impact of exports, imports, and trade openness on Namibia's economic growth using the ARDL cointegration method. The results reveal a significant negative relationship between imports and economic growth, while exports and trade openness show positive and significant relationships with economic growth. Moreover, short-term economic growth is driven by exports, imports, and trade openness. The findings suggest that trade liberalisation and export-led growth are crucial for Namibia's economic development. Globally and in Vietnam, the short- and long-term impacts of public investment on economic development continue to be fiercely debated. This study employs an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model to analyze the effect of public investment on Vietnam's economic development over the years 1995 to 2019 in order to augment empirical evidence on this topic. According to the empirical results, increasing public, private, and foreign investment all have a long-term positive influence on economic development. However, the short-term effect of public investment has not been confirmed. Furthermore, the effect of public investment on economic growth is less than that of private investment. The relationship between economic growth and foreign trade was put in focus by many economists when foreign trade developed. The case of Free Trade is always associated with significant positive effects on foreign trade and economic growth. This paper explains the relationship between trade liberalization, foreign trade, and economic growth in Albania using annual economic development data for 1994-2019. This study is based on hypotheses for Causality Testing concerning the cointegration between GDP and foreign trade, trade liberalization and GDP, and GDP and exports in Albania. The ordinary least squares (OLS) model has been used. Empirical results for the Albanian case show that trade liberalization has a positive relationship with economic growth, exports, and imports. The study examined the effect of developing human capital on Nigeria's economic growth. Contextual analysis served as the main information source for this study, in addition to various documentary and electronic sources. The human capital theory is the foundation of this study. The study concludes that there is a clear and evident link between the development of human capital and economic growth in Nigeria and makes several recommendations, including encouraging private sector investment in health and education to increase their involvement in the delivery of human capital services to the populace. This assumes that government spending on the health sector is ineffective in addressing health challenges without private investment in health. Also, an increase in the welfare programs for health care workers in order to lower the misery index in Nigeria and prevent a mass flight of doctors and other health professionals from the country's shores is important as this would improve the quality of life for Nigerians. Agropreneurship is a powerful tool for shaping today's economic development. This article focuses on how governments, academics, and policymakers on agropreneurship programs can prepare both existing and potential agropreneurs to continue contributing to the economic growth and development of the country. This paper draws out the key findings of existing literature relating to the growing field of agropreneurship by critically and constructively reviewing literature that examines issues and perspectives on agropreneurship and the agricultural sector within the Nigeria context, especially with careful analysis of historical data and current data. The review is in line with the need to create sustainable development through agropreneurship initiatives: in an economy presently facing a high rate of unemployment, extreme poverty, poor earnings from foreign exchange, and insufficiency of food items, this article argues for the need to adopt an overarching agriculture value chain to ensure a rapid industrial and economic development across Nigeria. Therefore, an integrative framework for effective agropreneurship practice in Nigeria is proposed to build the capacity of the Nigerian agricultural system, which has a multiplier effect on both the socioeconomic and industrial advancement of the country because of its multifunctional nature. Scholars and practitioners are torn between diverging viewpoints on the contribution of foreign assistance and foreign direct investment to the economic development, economic growth, and prosperity of Africa. This paper aims to examine the long-term and causal relationship between foreign direct investment, official development assistance, and economic growth for 20 selected African countries from 2000–2018. Autoregressive distributed lags and the error correction model were used as the primary estimation techniques. The results indicated a notable positive long-term cointegrating relationship between official development assistance and economic growth, and between economic growth and foreign direct investment, as well as a cointegrating link between foreign direct investment and official development assistance. Economic growth was found to promote official development assistance, while foreign direct investment was found to encourage economic growth and official development assistance was found to promote economic growth in the long run. Since foreign direct investment and official development assistance are important to economic growth in a spiral effect, African countries are encouraged to put in place policies that attract foreign direct investment and official development assistance. Thus, African countries should align their foreign and domestic investment and official development aid policies with their national developmental goals to attract foreign donations and investments. In Indonesia, fiscal decentralisation has been implemented for two decades, and it is expected that the regions will have a sufficient level of independence to increase economic growth and welfare. This study investigates the influence of fiscal decentralisation and human development on regional economic growth. The sample data comprised 484 county-level in Indonesia and utilised the panel data method. The findings showed that the central government grant, locally generated revenue, and human capital development positively influenced regional economic growth, although the degree of decentralisation negatively affected regional growth. Meanwhile, for regions with independence above 50 per cent, decentralisation, locally generated revenue, central government transfer and provincial loans and human capital development positively influenced regional economic growth. In addition, findings also indicated that a dynamic effect exists, implying that the performance of previous regional economic growth influenced current economic achievements. This study tackles the debate on the relationship between insurance development and economic growth by providing new evidence on the insurance sector. Most of the existing empirical studies focus primarily on the banking sector. This article applies linear dynamic panel-data approaches to examine the nexus between insurance (life insurance, non-life insurance, and the total insurance) and economic growth in 16 OECD countries from 2009 to 2020. We show that insurance development is associated with economic growth. The relationship between life and non-life insurance premiums and economic growth is non-linear. Based on the analysis of the data, an inverted U-shaped relationship is observed between insurance premiums and economic growth, thereby supporting the hypothesis reported in the literature on the non-linear relationship between financial development and economic growth. This implies that more finance may only be better up to a point, after which it tends to harm growth. Thus, our results confirm that the relationship between the insurance sector and economic growth appears to behave like the association between the financial industry and GDP. These findings offer several useful empirical implications for insurance companies and certain perspectives that would help policymakers, governments in OECD and other regions identify important aspects that can be considered while formulating financial regulations related to insurance activities. In a context where many African populations are excluded from the traditional banking system, financial inclusion appears to be a determining factor in enabling agents in need of financing, notably producers and consumers, to have easy access to financial services in order to contribute to the multiple efforts of economic and social progress of nations. However, to date, the literature remains silent on the optimal level of financial inclusion that can boost growth. Consequently, this paper aims to verify whether there is a non-linear relationship between economic growth and financial inclusion in the WAEMU zone. Econometric applications based on the PCSE (panel-corrected standard error) model on a panel of eight countries for the period 2014–2018 reveal a U-shaped relationship between the extended banking rate and economic growth. Economic growth shows two different behaviours depending on whether one is on the side of one or the other of the regimes inherent to the inflection point. In view of these results, we suggest that the public authorities: i) intensify campaigns to open accounts in local languages, ii) promote the development of online sales applications for goods and services, iii) pursue the dematerialisation of financial operations within public administrations. Finally, this paper paves the way for future research on the microeconomic component and a similar treatment of the subject, but taking into account the occurrence of the Covid pandemic19. Increased international trade flows and reduced trade restrictions have sparked ongoing debate and discussion about the influence of international trade on economic progress. Based on the empirical evaluation, the paper investigates the impact of trade openness on Kazakhstan's economic growth in a multivariate framework. It includes investment, international trade, labour force, human capital, and natural resource as explanatory constructs when gross domestic product per capita is the regressand variable. This research aims to assess the long-term relationship between trade and income development in Kazakhstan from 1992 to 2020. The Phillips and Perron (1988) and augmented Dickey and Fuller (1981) tests are used to check data stationarity. Because the data is stationary of orders I(0) and I(1), an autoregressive distributed lag model appears feasible. The bound test shows that the concerned variables have a long-term relationship. The results conclude that trade negatively impacts growth in the short and long run. While capital formation, labour quantity, quality, and natural resources positively affect the development of Kazakhstan's economy. This negative impact of trade on growth could be attributed to the country's shortage of good institutions and inefficient management, economic structure, and development policies. The capital market development in a national economy has an important influence on its economic growth and development and how successfully it will follow the economic trends on a world level. Especially important segment for encouraging the capital market development is the emergence of the investment funds. In the developed market systems, the investment funds are dominant by their participation in the financial system due to the risk diversification, the working transparency, the liquidity and the possibility to invest smaller amount of funds. In the developing countries, as it is a case with Republic of North Macedonia, the investment funds have existed for several years and they are at the beginning of their development. The legal framework establishment and the possibility for forming these kinds of collective investors which will enrich the financial market, and which has already been a world practice, have not brought significant changes in the financial system. The insufficient maturity of the capital market, the weak economic base, the limited competition and the closed market towards other countries, as well the fear of investing in something unknown significantly made the conditions for progress difficult. Studying the level of economic growth remains a topic of discussion among economists and policymakers. As economic growth further impacts the socioeconomic development of the country. The present study has investigated the impact of innovations and financial development on economic growth in case 58 developing counties from 2000 to 2020. To analyze the stationarity of the variables LLC, ADF-Fisher, IPS, and PP-Fisher unit roots have been used. This study uses a panel autoregressive distribution lag co-integration approach and a vector error-correction model for short-run dynamics of the model. For investigating the causal relationship among the variable's variance decomposition and impulse response function have been applied. The outcomes of the study show that innovations, availability of physical capital, and trade have a positive and significant impact on economic growth. Financial development has significant but inverse influence on economic growth. It is suggested that for higher economic growth, developing countries improve the threshold level of financial development and use an innovative process of production. Urbanization and inflation hurt economic growth. Thus, developing countries should promote a stable inflation rate with liberalized trade, innovation, and physical capital to enhance economic growth. This paper highlights the issues of import substitution in the context of attaining total macro-economic balance, market adaptation, and achieving new levels of regional economic development as a constituent part of the national economy of the Russian Federation. An effective strategy and goal management are the important forward-looking orientation points of the existence and development of the country. In this study, we tested the hypothesis that economic growth in the region can be estimated via the GRP per capita. To define the sectors and regions with a successful implementation of a substitution policy, our own special algorithm for sorting and classifying regions was used. This algorithm made it possible to estimate the effectiveness of the economic policy, if any. To confirm and estimate the hypothesis, tests based on panel data models were carried out. The results revealed that the economic policy of import substitution was 10% more efficient in the regions where it was implemented than those without an implemented policy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Financial development and its relationships with economic growth and income inequality have recently received considerable attention. The present study investigates the relationships between financial development and (i) economic growth, using data from 44 countries; (ii) economic inequality, using data from 42 middle-income countries. Estimates are obtained through a panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model for a period of 23 years (1995-2018). Results reveal that financial development contributes to economic growth in both groups of countries in the long run. However, the contribution financial development makes to economic growth is more noticeable in the case of upper-middle income countries. Additionally, Granger causality test based on Vector Error Correction (VEC) showed two-way Granger causality between financial development and economic growth. Findings disclosed an inverted U-shaped association between financial development and income inequality for both lower-middle income and upper-middle income countries. This study examines the relationship between green energy, non-renewable energy, financial development, and economic growth with carbon footprint by using panel data from 63 emerging and developed economies for the time period from 1990 to 2020. The study utilises second-generation panel data econometrics techniques to investigate cross-section independence and adjust for cross-section heterogeneity. The studies also used the CIPS and CADF unit root tests, Wester Lund bootstrap cointegration techniques, and AMG and CCEMG heterogeneous panel causality techniques. The findings show that, over the long run, all variables are cointegrated. Additionally, the data indicate that non-renewable energy consumption leads to carbon footprint, whereas green energy reduces environmental degradation and supports the reduction of environmental hazards. Likewise, financial development has a considerable negative effect on environmental degradation. A statistically significant bidirectional correlation is found between green energy, nonrenewable energy, financial development, economic growth, and carbon footprint according to the Dumitrescu-Hurlin causality test. It is a global challenge to achieve sustainable economic growth by improving the environment. The present study discussed the role of the financial development sector in achieving sustainable economic growth and environmental quality in South Asian countries from 1990 to 2020 by controlling labour force participation, globalization, industrialization, and the education sector. A feasible generalized least squares (FGLS) panel data econometric technique has been used to check the relationship among the variables. The results show that financial development has a U-shaped relationship with carbon emissions and economic growth. Furthermore, labour force participation, industrialization, globalization, and educational school enrolment significantly increase CO2 and economic growth. This study suggests that the governments of South Asian countries should take steps to increase economic growth. For this purpose, effective supervisory mechanisms of financial development through financial innovation, improving financial efficiency, maintaining financial stability, and reducing the environmental pollution. The development zone is an important institutional form of industrial spatial organization in China's economic transformation and is an essential growth pole of urban economic development. Based on the county-level panel data of Guangxi from 2005 to 2017, this study contributes to the discussion by exploring the effects of development zones on economic development in developed regions. Additionally, this study further attempts to illustrate the character of the agglomeration effect built on development zones and try to reveal the significant influence factors of the effect of development zones on the economy. Through the progressive difference-in-difference (DID) model approach, empirical results reveal that the development zone has a negative effect on the local economy within three years after its establishment, and the "development zone fever" significantly reduces the potential for regional economic growth. With the decrease in the established frequency of development zones, the effect of the development zone on economic growth becomes positive. However, this promoting effect is unsustainable because the agglomeration effect of development zones is mainly caused by the "clusters of enterprises". Certain industrial agglomeration and technological capabilities are essential prerequisites for development zones to promote economic growth, while the negative impact appears in a highly competitive environment caused by excessive government intervention. Therefore, the key to maintaining the sustainability of development zones' competition is to strengthen the assessment standard of survival of the fittest for enterprises, and promote the agglomeration of high-end industries by improving the selection effect of development zones.
