This paper delves into the complex history of e-lending, specifically between the Big Five publishers and public libraries. It is commonly thought that the relationship between publishers and libraries is contentious, with publishers being obvious aggressors who see libraries as their enemy. The reality is not so clear cut. This paper aims to comprehensively document and analyze the history of the publisher-library relationship in the decade before COVID-19—specifically focusing on the individual relationships that formed between libraries and each publisher, the sales and e-lending trends during that time, and the media's role in painting the publishers collectively as libraries' rivals—so readers can understand the significance of the March 2020 library closures and the transition to a fully digital library lending world. This paper is part of a larger research project carried out to develop a digital scholarship services model for Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. The research is in its earliest stages of building a theoretical framework of digital scholarship services through reviewing the literature. The paper reports results from a literature analysis of current digital scholarship research. The study used the bibliometric method to systematically analyze the subject areas and keywords of digital scholarship research articles published in English from 2015 to July 17, 2021 in journals indexed in Scopus. The study covers 202 publications, along with full bibliographic information for descriptive statistical data analysis. The data was also analyzed using VOS viewer online application to map co-authorship, co-citation and keyword co-occurrence. The results show that digital scholarship is an evolving topic, and there is a shift towards focusing on digital humanities, digital libraries, scholarly communication/networked scholarship, digital publishing and applications of digital technologies. Although scholars from developing countries have published a range of articles in the field of digital scholarship, researchers from developed countries still play a dominant role. The results provide an up-to-dated general analysis of the situation of research on digital scholarship in recent years, and help identify appropriate research topics for the future. In the changing landscape of libraries, the area of Research Support Service is emerging, with new opportunities, and challenges. The study is based on the role of the libraries in supporting research in the Institutes and Universities. This literature review identifies the current level of publications that deal with the relationship of the libraries and their role in the research process, and an examination of science researcher's information seeking needs, role of university libraries in supporting research, changing electronic environment and changing librarian's role, and challenges faced by the libraries with these changes. It aims to determine whether notable changes in the research support services for the doctoral students and scientists have emerged in recent years. The study shows that the support services of doctoral students and scientists provided by libraries follow a steady trend, with many subtle changes, particularly on the technological basis. The selected literature review spreads from 2000 to 2019. The coverage is balanced in that here on one hand the support service of the researchers, the researchers' information seeking need, the environment for the research is discussed, and on the other hand, the challenges for the libraries in print and electronic environment is discussed. The author reflects on how the journal can adapt to the accelerating changes in research and learning practices in digital environments, arguing in favor of a "platform publication" in which members of the library science community can contribute. To facilitate such collaboration among libraries, she discusses her support of the "EDUCAUSE Review" information technology (IT) platform publication developed by academics.
