Summary: In the paper, a nonlinear analysis of RC phase‐shift oscillator with operational amplifier is done. Using Kirchhoff's laws, a nonlinear system of three differential equations that describes the behavior of the oscillator is obtained. This system is analyzed using the Poincaré–Andronov–Hopf bifurcation theory. The basic principles of the Poincaré–Andronov–Hopf bifurcation theory are presented in advance, including the Center Manifold Theory and the Theory of Normal Forms. It was found that, under certain conditions, the oscillator system has a limit cycle, which means that the oscillator under consideration generates periodic oscillations. The period, amplitude, and stability of the generated periodic oscillations are determined theoretically. The obtained analytical results are confirmed by a numerical analysis of the nonlinear system of differential equations performed by MATLAB. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, we consider the almost periodic dynamics of an impulsive multispecies Lotka-Volterra competition system with time delays on time scales. By establishing some comparison theorems of dynamic equations with impulses and delays on time scales, a permanence result for the model is obtained. Furthermore, based on the permanence result, by studying the Lyapunov stability theory of impulsive dynamic equations on time scales, we establish the existence and uniformly asymptotic stability of a unique positive almost periodic solution of the system. Finally, we give an example to show the feasibility of our main results, and our example also shows that the continuous time system and its corresponding discrete time system have the same dynamics. In this paper, we present an improved method for analyzing the stability of the nonlinear hybrid dynamical systems (NHDSs) using a monodromy matrix. We define an n‐dimensional NHDS and focus on an orbit whose initial values exist near the periodic orbit. Because the system has nonlinearity, the circuit equation cannot be expressed in the form of a linear ordinary differential equation, meaning that the existing monodromy‐matrix‐based stability analysis method cannot be used because it requires a matrix exponential. Therefore, we propose a general theory for calculating orbital perturbations during Poincaré observation. Perturbation through switching events is expressed by a state‐transition matrix, which we refer to as the saltation matrix. By computing the perturbations, we obtain the monodromy matrix, whose characteristic multipliers denote the stability of the periodic orbit. We apply the proposed algorithm to an interrupted electric circuit with a nonlinear characteristic to confirm its validity. © 2018 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. In this paper, we prove the results on existence and uniqueness of the maximal solutions for measure differential equations, considering more general conditions on functions f and g by using the correspondence between the solutions of these equations and the solutions of generalized ODEs. Moreover, we prove these results for the dynamic equations on time scales, using the correspondence between the solutions of these last equations and the solutions of the measure differential equations. In this paper, helicoidal flat surfaces in the 3‐dimensional sphere S3 are considered. A complete classification of such surfaces, that generalizes a classification of rotational flat surfaces, is given in terms of the first and second fundamental forms for asymptotic parameters. Summary: In this paper, we present the vibration control design for a string with the boundary time‐varying output constraint. The dynamics of the string is a distributed parameter system described by a partial differential equation and two ordinary differential equations. A barrier Lyapunov function with a logarithmic function is adopted to prevent the time‐varying constraint violations. Adaptive control is designed to handle the system parametric uncertainties. Stability analysis and the solvability of the inequality equations are provided. Numerical simulations are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control design. In this paper we mainly investigate the Cauchy problem of a generalized Camassa–Holm equation. We first derive two global existence results and two blow‐up results from the relationship between the Degasperis–Procesi equation and the generalized Camassa–Holm equation. Dynamic two-phase interaction of soil can be modelled by a displacement-based, two-phase formulation. The finite element method together with a semi-implicit Euler-Cromer time-stepping scheme renders a discrete equation that can be solved by recursion. By experience, it is found that the CFL stability condition for undrained wave propagation is not sufficient for the considered two-phase formulation to be numerically stable at low values of permeability. Because the stability analysis of the two-phase formulation is onerous, an analysis is performed on a simplified two-phase formulation that is derived by assuming an incompressible pore fluid. The deformation of saturated porous media is now captured in a single, second-order partial differential equation, where the energy dissipation associated with the flow of the fluid relative to the soil skeleton is represented by a damping term. The paper focuses on the different options to discretize the damping term and its effect on the stability criterion. Based on the eigenvalue analyses of a single element, it is observed that in addition to the CFL stability condition, the influence of the permeability must be included. This paper introduces a permeability-dependent stability criterion. The findings are illustrated and validated with an example for the dynamic response of a sand deposit. Previously, existence and uniqueness of a class of monotone similarity solutions for a nonlinear differential equation arising in magnetohydrodynamic Falkner-Skan flow were considered in the case of accelerating flows. It was shown that a solution satisfying certain monotonicity properties exists and is unique for the case of accelerated flows and some decelerated flows. In this paper, we show that solutions to the problem can exist for decelerated flows even when the monotonicity conditions do not hold. In particular, these types of solutions have nonmonotone second derivatives and are, hence, a distinct type of solution from those studied previously. By virtue of this result, the present paper demonstrates the existence of an important type of solution for decelerated flows. Importantly, we show that multiple solutions can exist for the case of strongly decelerated flows, and this occurs because of the fact that the solutions do not satisfy the aforementioned monotonicity requirements. In this work successive differentiation method is applied to solve highly nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) such as Benjamin-Bona-Mahony equation, Burger's equation, Fornberg-Whitham equation, and Gardner equation. To show the efficacy of this new technique, figures have been incorporated to compare exact solution and results of this method. Wave variable is used to convert the highly nonlinear PDE into ordinary differential equation with order reduction. In a fairly recent paper (2008 American Control Conference, June 11-13, 1035-1039), the problem of dealing with trading in optimal pairs was treated from the viewpoint of stochastic control. The analysis of the subsequent nonlinear evolution partial differential equation was based upon a succession of Ansätze, which can lead to a solution of the terminal-value problem. Through an application of the Lie Theory of Continuous Groups to this equation, we show that the Ansätze are based upon the underlying symmetries of the equation (their (14)). We solve the problem in a more general context by allowing the parameters to be explicitly time dependent. The extension means that more realistic problems are amenable to the same mode of solution. In the present paper, an iteration regularization method for solving the Cauchy problem of the modified Helmholtz equation is proposed. The a priori and a posteriori rule for choosing regularization parameters with corresponding error estimates between the exact solution and its approximation are also given. The Allen-Cahn equation, coupled with dynamic boundary conditions, has recently received a good deal of attention. The new issue of this paper is the setting of a rather general mass constraint, which may involve either the solution inside the domain or its trace on the boundary. The system of nonlinear partial differential equations can be formulated as a variational inequality. The presence of the constraint in the evolution process leads to additional terms in the equation and the boundary condition containing a suitable Lagrange multiplier. In this paper, we study a one-dimensional morphogenesis model considered by C. Stinner et al. (Math. Meth. Appl. Sci. 2012; 35: 445-465). Under homogeneous boundary conditions, we prove the existence of nonconstant positive steady states through local bifurcation theories. Then we rigorously study the stability of these nonconstant solutions when the sensitivity functions are chosen to be linear and logarithmic, respectively. Finally, we present numerical solutions to illustrate the formation of stable inhomogeneous spatial patterns. In this paper, we consider an inverse source problem of identification of F( t) function in the linear parabolic equation u t = u xx + F( t) and u0( x) function as the initial condition from the measured final data and local boundary data. Based on the optimal control framework by Green's function, we construct Fréchet derivative of Tikhonov functional. The stability of the minimizer is established from the necessary condition. This paper addresses the problem of solving a class of periodic discrete-time Riccati equation with an indefinite sign of its quadratic term. Such an equation is closely related to the so-called full-information H ∞ control of discrete-time periodic systems. A globally convergent iterative algorithm with a local quadratic convergence rate is proposed for this purpose. This paper presents a mathematically accurate and numerically very fast procedure to compute both expectation and variance (and standard deviation) of the stresses in a visco‐elastic material with stochastically fluctuating elastic properties. The stochastic material properties turn the evolution equation for the viscous strain components into a stochastic ordinary differential equation (ODE). We solve this ODE analytically for arbitrary loading cases which allows for a separation of deterministic and stochastic contributions. As a consequence, we are able to present precise formulas for the expectation and variance of the stresses.
