Objectives: The Nasal Polyposis Symptom Diary (NPSD) is a novel and short patient-reported outcome (PRO) tool specifically developed to assess important and relevant symptoms reported by patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis (CRSwNP). We evaluated the psychometric properties of 4 predefined NPSD-derived scores intended to support symptom-improvement assessments of investigational therapies for inclusion in product labeling. Methods: Five hundred eighteen patients with severe CRSwNP from a Phase III clinical trial (NCT03401229) completed the NPSD, comprising 11 items: 8 symptom-specific, 2 symptom-impact, and 1 optional medication-compliance. The psychometric characteristics of 3 single-item symptom scores (Nasal Blockage Score [NBS], Nasal Congestion Score [NCS], and Difficulty with Sense of Smell Score [DSS]) and a Total Symptom Score (TSS, summary of the 8 symptom-specific items) were evaluated for reliability, validity, and ability to detect change. Within-patient meaningful change thresholds (MCTs) were established using anchor- and distribution-based methods. Comparative PROs included the 22-item Sino-Nasal Outcome Test (SNOT-22) and Patient Global Impression of Severity (PGI-S). Results: The TSS exhibited strong internal consistency (Cronbach α =.88) and test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient >.80). Correlation between the TSS and SNOT-22 total score indicated good convergent validity (r =.70). All 4 NPSD scores demonstrated known-groups validity (significant differences among subgroups of patients with predetermined disease severity levels based on PGI-S categories) and were sensitive to detect change in patients' clinical status (significant differences among subgroups of patients with reported changes between 2 time-points in PGI-S and Patient Global Impression of Change scores). MCTs for improvement were established at 1.0 point for NBS, NCS, and DSS, and 4.0 points for TSS. Conclusion: These findings support the reliability, validity, and suitability of the 4 NPSD-derived scores for evaluating treatment effect on CRSwNP symptoms and their use in clinical trials with predetermined MCTs for improvement. Background: Biomechanical studies have shown that an increased medial posterior tibial slope (MPTS) may affect anteroposterior knee laxity and tibial shear forces, ultimately increasing the risk for graft failure after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Previous clinical studies have, however, reported inconclusive results. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the MPTS and graft failure as well as functional outcomes after anatomic primary isolated ACL reconstruction using a hamstring tendon autograft. It was hypothesized that an increased MPTS would be associated with a higher ACL graft failure rate. Furthermore, a higher MPTS would negatively correlate with functional outcomes in patients without ACL graft failure. Study Design: Case-control study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: Consecutive patients who underwent isolated primary ACL reconstruction with an anteromedial portal drilling technique between January 2011 and December 2019 were retrospectively reviewed. The MPTS was measured on preoperative lateral knee radiographs. At a minimum of 24 months postoperatively, the ACL graft failure rate and patient-reported outcome measures (PROM; International Knee Documentation Committee subjective knee form, Lysholm score, Tegner Activity Scale, visual analog scale for pain and subjective instability) were evaluated. Differences in the MPTS between patients with and without ACL graft failure as well as the frequency of graft failure between those with an MPTS <12° and those with an MPTS ≥12° were assessed for statistical significance. Binary logistic regression analysis was performed to stratify the risk of graft failure with the following variables: MPTS, age at surgery, and sex. Correlation analysis was performed to evaluate the relationship between the MPTS and PROM in patients without ACL graft failure. Results: In total, 326 patients were included (median follow-up, 71.0 months [IQR, 49.0-104.0 months]). There was no significant difference in the MPTS between patients with and without graft failure (10.6°± 3.2° vs 11.2°± 2.8°, respectively; P =.264). Additionally, there was no significant difference in the frequency of graft failure between patients with an MPTS <12° and those with an MPTS ≥12° (15.6% vs 16.5%, respectively; P =.835). Binary logistic regression showed that younger age at the time of surgery (odds ratio, 1.069 [95% CI, 1.031-1.109]) was associated with graft failure; sex and MPTS were not associated with graft failure. In patients without ACL graft failure, there was no significant correlation between the MPTS and PROM. Conclusion: In patients who underwent anatomic primary isolated ACL reconstruction, an increased MPTS was not associated with a higher rate of graft failure or inferior functional outcomes. Background: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury increases risks for osteoarthritis (OA), a poorly modifiable and disabling condition. Joint changes of potentially reversible pre-OA have been described just 2 years after ACL reconstruction (ACLR) when early bone shape changes have also been reported. Purpose: This study evaluates relationships between interlimb differences in tibiofemoral bone shape derived from statistical shape modeling (SSM) of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and participant factors on patient-reported outcomes 2 years after unilateral ACLR. Study Design: Cross-sectional study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: SSM-derived tibiofemoral bone shape and subchondral bone area were assessed from bilateral knee MRI scans of 72 participants with unilateral ACLR (mean age, 34 ± 11 years; 32 women) and compared with a reference cohort of 398 older individuals without OA (mean age, 50 ± 3 years; 213 women). Multivariable logistic regression models examined relationships between participant and surgical factors with interlimb differences in bone shapes or subchondral bone areas. Relationships between patient-reported outcomes and the interlimb differences in bone shape and subchondral area were examined using similar models. Results: Bone shape scores and subchondral bone areas were greater (more OA-like) in ACLR knees than uninjured contralateral knees in every bone metric tested (P ≤.001). Interlimb differences in femur shape scores of participants with ACLR were 65% greater (P <.001) than those of the significantly older reference cohort. Taller height, medial meniscal tears, and decreasing age were associated with larger interlimb differences in shape scores and subchondral areas (P <.05). Bone–patellar tendon–bone (BPTB) autograft recipients demonstrated greater interlimb subchondral area differences compared with allograft recipients (P <.05). Interlimb differences for hamstring autograft recipients did not differ from those with BPTB or allograft. Greater interlimb differences in medial femur subchondral areas were associated with worse patient-reported Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score Symptoms (R = 0.27; P =.040). Conclusion: Even in the absence of radiographic OA, just 2 years after unilateral ACLR patients showed greater bone shape scores and subchondral areas consistent with pre-OA in their ACLR knees. Furthermore, greater medial femur bone areas were weakly associated with worse symptoms. Introduction: While there may be differences in the choice of suicide methods between attempters with and those without a history of psychiatric disorders, it is not clear whether these differences predict the actual degree of physical injury. The present study aimed to investigate the association between the history of psychiatric disorder and the degree of physical injury among suicide attempters in a Japanese rural area. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study analyzing secondary data of 806 suicide attempters from April 2012 to March 2022 obtained from a Japanese rural city. The exposure variable was a history of psychiatric disorders. The primary outcome was the degree of physical injury of suicide attempters: moderate and severe. We conducted a multivariate Poisson regression analysis to estimate the prevalence ratios (PRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results: Among 806 suicide attempters, a significant negative association between the history of psychiatric disorder and the degree of physical injury was observed (PR = 0.40; 95% CI, 0.28-0.59). Those with and without psychiatric disorders were more likely to choose low- and severe-lethality suicide methods such as drug or psychotropic overdoses and hanging or deep wrist injuries, respectively (P <.001). Conclusions: The present study highlights the importance of considering suicide attempters, both with and without psychiatric disorders, while formulating targeted suicide prevention strategies. Background: Young baseball players with medial elbow injuries are known to have high forearm flexor-pronator muscle elasticity; however, the causal relationship between forearm muscle elasticity and the occurrence of medial elbow injuries remains unclear. Purpose/Hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to determine whether the forearm flexor-pronator muscle elasticity is a risk factor for medial elbow injury in young baseball players. It was hypothesized that high flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU) elasticity would be a risk factor for medial elbow injuries. Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 2. Methods: Young baseball players (aged 9-12 years) with no history of elbow injuries underwent examination during which the strain ratios (SRs) of the pronator teres, flexor digitorum superficialis, and FCU muscles were measured using ultrasound strain elastography as an index of elasticity. Additionally, the participants completed a questionnaire assessing age, height, weight, months of experience as a baseball player, position in baseball, number of training days per week, number of throws per day, and elbow pain during throwing; then the range of motion of the shoulder and hip internal/external rotation were measured. One year after the baseline measurements, the occurrence of new medial elbow injuries was evaluated. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was subsequently conducted to determine risk factors for medial elbow injuries. Cutoff points for significant SR values obtained from the multivariate logistic regression analysis were calculated using the receiver operating characteristic curve. Results: Of the 314 players, 76 (24.2%) were diagnosed with medial elbow injury. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that a 0.1 increase in the SR of the FCU muscle (odds ratio [OR], 1.211; 95% CI, 1.116-1.314) and number of throws per day (OR, 1.012; 95% CI, 1.001-1.022) were significantly associated with medial elbow injuries. Receiver operating characteristic curve analyses revealed that the optimal cutoff for the SR of the FCU muscle was 0.920 (area under the curve, 0.694; sensitivity, 75.0%; specificity, 56.7%). Conclusion: Increased FCU elasticity is a risk factor for medial elbow injury. Evaluation of the FCU elasticity may be useful in identifying young baseball players at high risk of medial elbow injuries and may facilitate prevention of medial elbow injury. As shown by the results of multivariate logistic regression analysis, FCU elasticity itself may be useful in identifying young baseball players at high risk of elbow injuries. Background: Physical tests are commonly used in patellar tendinopathy to aid the clinical diagnosis, assess the prognosis, and monitor treatment. However, it is still unknown whether these physical measures are associated with patient-reported outcomes after exercise therapy. Purpose: To identify the prognostic value of baseline physical test results and to determine the association between physical response after exercise therapy and clinical improvement over 24 weeks. Study Design: Case-control study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: This study recruited 76 consecutive athletes with patellar tendinopathy who were randomized to 2 different programs of exercise therapy for 24 weeks. Athletes underwent a range of physical tests before and during exercise therapy (12 and 24 weeks), including isometric muscle strength (quadriceps and hip abductors), muscle flexibility (quadriceps, hamstrings, soleus, and gastrocnemius), vertical jump height, and visual analog scale (VAS) scores by palpation, after 3 jump trials, and after single-leg squat (VAS-SLS). The Victorian Institute of Sports Assessment–Patella (VISA-P) questionnaire was used as the primary patient-reported outcome. Linear mixed-effect models were used to assess the prognostic value of baseline physical tests. The change in VISA-P score was further dichotomized into clinical responsiveness (≥14 points) and nonresponsiveness (<14 points). Multiple linear and logistic regression models were performed to evaluate associations between physical response and clinical improvement. Results: Of the 76 included patients, 67 (88%) had complete follow-ups. The estimated mean VISA-P score increased by 23 points (95% CI, 19-28 points) after 24 weeks. No association was found between any baseline physical test results and a 24-week change in VISA-P score (all P interaction >.2, using the likelihood ratio test). Improvement in VAS-SLS after exercise therapy was not associated with VISA-P improvement after adjustment (β = −1.76; P =.01; Bonferroni-corrected P =.10; R 2 = 36.3%). No associations were found between changes in other physical test results and clinical improvement (all P >.05). Conclusion: In patients with patellar tendinopathy, physical test results including strength and flexibility in the lower limb, jump performance, and pain levels during pain-provoking tests were not identified as prognostic factors for patient-reported outcomes after exercise therapy. Similarly, changes in physical test results were not associated with changes in patient-reported outcomes after adjustments. Background: Prevalence of type 2 diabetes (T2D) is rising, and its burden on the healthcare system remains a challenge. Consumption of a plant-predominant diet is a promising approach for achieving remission, which has emerged as a therapeutic target. Objective: To establish feasibility of achieving T2D remission with a plant-predominant diet in a cohort of free-living individuals. Methods: Patients referred to a wellness clinic were treated with a low-fat, whole food, plant-predominant diet while receiving standard medical treatment. Included patients were adults, mostly elderly, with HbA1c > 6.5%, with or without use of antidiabetic medications. Results: N = 59 patients were included in this analysis, with mean age 71.5 years (range 41-89). Twenty-two (37%) patients achieved T2D remission. Mean differences showed a significant decrease post-lifestyle change (T2) compared to prior to lifestyle change (T1) for the following outcomes [least squares mean difference (95% CI)]: BMI [−2.6 (−4.8, −.3)] kg/m2; HbA1c [ −1.3 (−1.6, −1.0)] %; and fasting glucose [−29.6 (−41.8, −17.5)] mg/dL. No significant differences were observed for systolic or diastolic blood pressure, HDL, LDL, or triglycerides. Conclusion: A lifestyle-based treatment intervention promoting adherence to a plant-predominant diet and integrated as part of routine care can successfully achieve T2D remission in wellness clinic patients. Introduction and objective: Research attitudes among nursing students are essential to improve the quality of care and promote evidence-based practice. The objective of this study was to determine the attitude towards research of nursing students during their undergraduate internship and explore the demographic and study-related factors that may affect these attitudes. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional retrospective study, 100 nursing interns who are >18 years old, currently studying and working, and have a prior academic background were included. To assess the attitudes toward research, the 43-item Likert-like Scale of Attitudes Towards Research questionnaire was used, which has been previously validated in the Peruvian population and includes three distinct dimensions: affective, cognitive, and behavioral. Results: The mean age was 28.7 ± 5.2 years and 88% were women. Fifty percent had favorable attitudes toward research. The favorable attitude according to the affective, cognitive, and behavioral dimensions was 28%, 11%, and 45%, respectively. Although the youngest age group (20 to 30 years old) had the highest frequency of favorable attitudes (36%), no significant differences were found when compared to other age groups (p =.082). Conclusions: Nursing students presented favorable attitudes toward research during their undergraduate internship, especially among young students. However, more research is needed to understand how these attitudes are shaped and consolidated during the research process and how they can be further improved to promote evidence-based practice in nursing. An abbreviated version of the Conformity to Masculine Norms Inventory, the CMNI-30, was developed with several strengths. However, its measurement invariance across men with different sexual orientations has not been examined in a U.S. sample, so it is unclear whether these different populations understand the items similarly. In addition, no studies have compared conformity to masculinity norms across sexual orientations. This would be important to understand sexual minority men's experience of masculinity and how it differs from heteronormative masculinity. This article explores the measurement invariance of the CMNI-30 among 882 heterosexual, gay, and bisexual+ men using confirmatory factor analysis, and compares their CMNI-30 subscale scores. Results indicated that the CMNI-30 demonstrated residual invariance between men of different sexual orientations, suggesting that men of different sexual orientations interpreted the items similarly. We also found higher levels of conformity to the masculine norms of Winning, Heterosexual self-presentation, and Power over women among heterosexual men relative to gay and bisexual+ men, and higher levels of Pursuit of status among gay men relative to the other groups. Engaging adolescent males is a promising violence prevention strategy. This study explored primary versus secondary prevention effects of a gender-transformative program (i.e., Manhood 2.0) versus job-readiness training on multiple forms of violence perpetration. Adolescent males, ages 13 to 19 years, were recruited through youth-serving organizations in Pittsburgh, PA, between July 27, 2015, and June 5, 2017, to participate in an unblinded community-based cluster-randomized trial in 20 neighborhoods. The intervention curriculum, Manhood 2.0, focused on challenging norms that foster gender-based violence and building bystander skills. The control program was job-readiness training. We completed a planned secondary analysis of surveys from baseline and 9 months post intervention (follow-up), wherein we stratified participants based on any sexual violence/adolescent relationship abuse (SV/ARA) at baseline and examined risk of perpetration of SV/ARA, incapacitated sex, sexual harassment, cyber sexual abuse, peer violence, bullying, and homophobic teasing at follow-up. Among 866 participants, mean age was 15.6 years, 70% identified as Black, 6% as Hispanic, and 6% as multiracial. In both the Manhood 2.0 intervention group and job-readiness control groups, youth who reported SV/ARA at baseline were significantly more likely to report any form of SV/ARA, incapacitated sex, sexual harassment, cyber sexual abuse, bullying, and homophobic teasing at follow-up. Among participants who reported no SV/ARA perpetration at baseline, participating in the Manhood 2.0 intervention program was associated with increased risk of SV/ARA at follow-up compared to participating in the job-readiness control program. Among participants who reported SV/ARA perpetration at baseline, participating in the Manhood 2.0 intervention group was associated with lower risk of peer violence at follow-up. Violence against women is considered as one of the most serious social problems in all the societies. It is common that the abused women experience physical, psychological, and health problems, as well as reproductive health issues. Domestic violence affects women's health behaviors and ability to seek any form of health care. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between health-promoting behaviors and reproductive health needs in women experienced domestic violence. This cross-sectional study was conducted from May 5 to September 21, 2021, on 380 abused women. Cluster sampling was performed in health centers of Karaj. Data were collected using demographic survey questions, Domestic Violence Survey, Reproductive Health Needs of Domestic Violated Women scale, and health-promoting behaviors questionnaire. The mean (standard deviation) scores for reproductive health needs and health-promoting behaviors were 158.88 (20.24) and 131.08 (20.53), respectively. Psychological violence had the highest (69.5%) prevalence among all types and 37.6% of women reported severe violence. The results of Spearman's rank correlation coefficient test indicated that all dimensions of the reproductive health needs of abused women (men's participation, self-care, support and health services, and sexual and marital relationships) positively and significantly related to the total score and various dimensions of health-promoting behaviors (interpersonal relationship, health responsibility, physical activity, spiritual growth, nutrition, and stress management). The dimensions of health-promoting behaviors together can explain 21.6% of the changes in reproductive health needs based on linear regression. Violence is a global public concern and paying attention to the various health dimensions in abused women is an important aspect of the health policies. Background: The influence of bony morphology on the development of posterior shoulder instability is not well known. Purpose: To determine if acromial morphology, as measured on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), is associated with posterior or anterior shoulder instability. Design: Cross-sectional study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: MRI measurements of posterior acromial coverage (PAC), posterior acromial height (PAH), posterior acromial tilt (PAT), and anterior acromial coverage (AAC) were completed for 3 separate matched groups who underwent surgical intervention: posterior instability, anterior instability, and a comparison group of patients who underwent arthroscopic surgery for snapping scapula. Inclusion criteria were patients with recurrent instability <40 years of age without multidirectional instability, glenoid bone loss >13.5%, or glenoid retroversion >10%. Results: Overall, 37 patients were included in each group. PAC was significantly less in the posterior instability group than in the anterior instability and comparison groups (68.3° vs 88.7° vs 81.7°; P <.001). PAH was significantly greater in the posterior group than in the anterior instability group (11.0 mm vs −0.1 mm; P <.001) and comparison group (0.7 mm; P <.001). There was no difference between the posterior and anterior groups in terms of PAT or AAC (P =.45 and P =.05, respectively). PAT was significantly smaller in the posterior instability group than the comparison group (55.2° vs 62.2°; P =.026). The anterior and comparison groups were not significantly different in PAH or PAT (P =.874 and P =.067, respectively) but were significantly different in AAC (P =.026). Conclusion: A higher and flatter posterior acromion, as measured on preoperative MRI, appears to be associated with patients who require arthroscopic capsulolabral repair due to posterior shoulder instability. Background: Sports function and psychological readiness to return to sports (RTS) are important outcomes when evaluating rehabilitation after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). It is, however, unclear which specific factors contribute most to these outcomes. Purpose: To determine associations between demographic characteristics, objective measurements of physical function, patient-reported outcome measure scores, sports-related function assessed with the Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) Sport and Recreation subscale, and psychological readiness to RTS assessed with the Anterior Cruciate Ligament–Return to Sport after Injury (ACL-RSI) scale at 1 year after ACLR. Study Design: Cross-sectional study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: At a mean of 12.5 ± 2.0 months after ACLR, 143 participants (50.3% female), with a mean age of 25.0 ± 5.7 years, were assessed for demographic characteristics, physical factors (hop performance, muscle strength, ankle and hip range of motion), and psychological factors (KOOS Pain and Symptoms subscales, Perceived Stress Scale, fear of reinjury) as well as the KOOS Sport and Recreation subscale and ACL-RSI scale. Backward linear regression models were used to evaluate factors associated with sports function and psychological readiness to RTS. Results: Lower isokinetic knee extension peak torque (limb symmetry index) (B = 18.38 [95% CI, 3.01-33.75]), lower preinjury activity level (B = 2.00 [95% CI, 0.87-3.14]), greater knee pain (B = 0.90 [95% CI, 0.70-1.10]), shorter time between injury and reconstruction (B = 0.16 [95% CI, 0.05-0.26]), and greater fear of reinjury (B = 0.11 [95% CI, 0.01-0.20]) were associated with a worse KOOS Sport and Recreation subscore (R 2 = 0.683). A shorter hop distance (B = 0.15 [95% CI, 0.00-0.29]) was associated with a lower ACL-RSI score (R 2 = 0.245). Conclusion: A combination of knee muscle strength, activity level, knee pain, timing of surgery, and fear of reinjury accounted for approximately 70% of the variation in sports function at 1 year after ACLR. In contrast, there was only 1 weak association between physical function and psychological readiness to RTS at this time point. Background: End-stage ankle osteoarthritis is a condition that can be treated with ankle arthrodesis (AA) or total ankle arthroplasty (TAA). The goal of this study is to estimate the 2016-2017 United States' utilization of TAA and AA in specific ambulatory settings and delineate patient and hospital factors associated with the selection of TAA vs AA for treatment of ankle osteoarthritis. Methods: TAA and AA procedures performed for ankle osteoarthritis were identified in the 2016-2017 Nationwide Ambulatory Surgery Sample (NASS) Database. Notably, the NASS database only examines instances of ambulatory surgery encounters at hospital-owned facilities. As such, instances of TAA and AA performed at privately owned or freestanding ambulatory surgical centers or those performed inpatient are excluded from this analysis. Cases were weighted using nationally representative discharge weights. Univariate analyses and a combined multiple logistic regression model were used to compare demographic, hospital-related, and socioeconomic factors associated with TAA vs AA. Results: In total, 6577 cases were identified, which represents 9072 cases after weighting. Of these, TAA was performed for 2233 (24.6%). Based on the logistic regression model, several factors were associated with increased utilization of TAA vs AA. With regard to patient factors, older patients were more likely to undergo TAA, as well as females. Conversely, patients with a higher comorbidity burden were less likely to receive TAA over AA. With regard to socioeconomic factors, urban teaching and urban nonteaching hospitals were significantly more likely to use TAA compared to rural hospitals. Similarly, privately insured patients and those with a median household income of $71 000 or more were also more likely to receive TAA over AA. Private hospitals ("not-for-profit" and "investor-owned") were significantly more likely to offer TAA over AA. Conclusion: Using a large nationally representative cohort, the current data revealed that during 2016-2017, 24.6% of operatively treated cases of end-stage ankle osteoarthritis in the ambulatory setting are treated with TAA. Associations between socioeconomic and hospital-level factors with TAA utilization suggest that nonclinical factors may influence surgical treatment choice for ankle osteoarthritis. Background: The Foot and Ankle Outcome Score (FAOS) is widely used in clinical practice and research. However, FAOS reference values are missing to aid interpretation. This study aimed to establish national record–based reference values for the FAOS. Methods: A national representative sample of 9996 adult Danish citizens was derived from the Danish Civil Registration System. The FAOS questionnaire was sent to all participants, including 2 supplemental questions regarding previous foot and ankle problems and body mass index (BMI). A threshold of 10 FAOS points was predefined as a clinically relevant difference across all 5 subscales. Results: A total of 2759 participants completed the FAOS. Mean age of participants was 60.5 years, and 51% were women. The mean FAOS subscale scores were as follows: pain, 87.1 (95% CI 86.4-87.8); symptoms, 85.1 (95% CI 84.5-85.8); activity of daily living (ADL), 88.9 (95% CI 88.2-89.6); sport and recreation function 78.5 (95% CI 77.4-79.6); and quality of life (QOL), 79.9 (95% CI 79.0-80.9). The mean difference between men and women was small and not clinically relevant (ranged from 0.9 in ADL to 3.4 in QOL). The largest differences in mean scores between age groups ranged from 4.3 in symptoms to 16.4 in sport/rec. Except for the subscale sport/rec, all age-related differences were below the predefined threshold of 10 for clinical relevance. The difference in mean subscale scores between the lowest BMI group (<24.7) and the obese group (>30) ranged from 19.6 in ADL to 39.1 in sport/rec. Conclusion: We found in our population that BMI severely impacted FAOS scores. We recommend using BMI-specific reference FAOS values. Separate FAOS reference values for men and women appear not needed. Stratifying reference values for age is likely not needed except for the subscale sport and recreation function. Background: Tibial tubercle osteotomy (TTO) is a well-established surgical treatment option for patients with patellofemoral disorders. Purpose: To determine the rate of early (≤90 day) postoperative complications after TTO and variables related to postoperative complications. Study Design: Case series; Level of evidence, 4. Methods: Patients who underwent TTO at a single academic institution within a 15-year period (2008-2022) were identified. All patients with a minimum 90-day follow-up were considered for study inclusion. Exclusion criteria were age younger than 14 years and revision surgery. Patient characteristics, surgical history, and concomitant procedures were identified, and risk factor analysis was performed to identify variables associated with early postoperative complications. Results: A total of 344 knees in 313 patients met eligibility criteria and were included in the final analysis. One intraoperative complication (0.3%), a premature closure of the incision before repair of the vastus medialis, was identified. There were 141 postoperative complications (138 surgical, 3 medical) in 118 patients for a complication rate of 34.3%. The most common complications were stiffness requiring a nonstandard-of-care intervention (16.3%), superficial wound infection/wound dehiscence (8.1%), and hemarthrosis/effusion requiring aspiration (5.8%). Patients experiencing postoperative complications were older (mean difference, 3.49 years; 95% CI, 1.26-5.73 years; P =.002), had a higher mean Charlson Comorbidity Index (mean difference, 0.26; 95% CI, 0.08-0.45; P =.006), and were more likely to be current smokers (P =.015) compared with patients with no complications. Inpatient surgery (defined as surgery in a hospital setting with at least 1 overnight stay) was associated with postoperative complications (odds ratio [OR], 2.29; 95% CI, 1.39-3.77; P =.001); this association remained significant generation of a multivariate model (OR, 2.07; 95% CI, 1.19-3.58; P =.010). Previous surgery on the ipsilateral knee (P <.001) and concomitant autologous chondrocyte implantation (P =.046) were also associated with postoperative complications. Conclusion: The study findings indicated a low intraoperative complication rate (0.3%) and a relatively high early postoperative (≤90 day) complication rate (34.3%) after TTO. Background: Black Americans have a higher prevalence of stroke and stroke-related deaths than any other racial group. Racial disparities in stroke outcomes are even wider among women than men. Conventional studies have cited differences in lifestyle (i.e. smoking, alcohol consumption, etc.) and vascular risk factors between races as the source of these disparities. However, these studies fail to account for the higher prevalence of minoritized populations at the lower end of the socioeconomic distribution. Objectives: This study explores differences in stroke risk factors across age and socioeconomic cohorts to determine whether comorbidities can sufficiently explain disparities at all ages and income levels. Design: Using the 2006–2018 National Health Interview Survey data, statistical analysis evaluated differences in risk factors among a full sample cohort (aged 18–85 years; n = 131,091) and a "young" subsample cohort (aged 18–59 years; n = 6183) of women. Methods: Logistics and unconditional quantile regression models assessed the relationship between stroke and comorbid, demographic, and behavioral characteristics across socioeconomic classes. Results: Results suggest that Black women had a 1.415-fold (confidence interval = 1.259, 1.591) higher likelihood of stroke compared with White women after controlling for age, behavior, and comorbidities. Racial disparities were not statistically significant at the higher income ranges for either the full (odds ratio = 1.404, p = 0.3114) or young samples (odds ratio = 1.576, p = 0.7718). However, Blacks had significantly higher odds of stroke in the lower quartiles (lower odds ratio: 1.329, p = 0.0242; lower middle odds ratio: 1.233, p = 0.0486; and upper middle odds ratio: 1.994, p = 0.0005). Disparities were larger among young women (odds ratio = 1.449, confidence interval = 1.211, 1.734). Conclusion: While comorbidities were highly associated with stroke prevalence in all socioeconomic cohorts, Blacks only had higher relative odds in the lower income classes. Lack of biological or behavioral explanations for these findings suggests that unobserved or uncontrolled factors such as systemic racism, prejudicial institutions, or differential treatment may contribute to this. Stigmas and taboos surrounding male sexual violence, stating that men cannot be sexually victimized and would not experience many adverse effects as a result, continue to shroud the issue of male sexual victimization (SV). Male victims, therefore, remain under-recognized in research, policy, and treatment provisions. Furthermore, knowledge regarding male SV is severely compromised by studying male victims in convenience samples with a focus on hands-on forms of sexual violence. Finally, severity of SV is often described using a one-dimensional approach based on presumed severity leading to an oversimplified image. This study addresses these various gaps in scientific research by constructing severity profiles of male SV based on self-reported consequences, prevalence, and co-occurrence of SV. A total of 1,078 male victims were selected from a Belgian nationally representative sample collected between October 2019 and January 2021. Profiles are constructed using latent class analysis. Sociodemographic differences across the profiles are examined through multinomial regression analysis. Finally, differences in current mental health problems across the profiles are assessed. Four distinct male victim profiles are identified: (a) low severity—low victimization (58.3%), (b) medium severity—hands-off victimization (21.4%), (c) medium severity—poly-victimization (13.3%), and (d) high severity—poly-victimization (7.0%). Group comparisons show how male victims in the high-severity class report significantly higher rates of mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, and suicide and/or self-harm. Significant differences in class membership were found for age, occupational status, relationship status, sexual orientation, and financial status. This study provides new insights in the patterns of male SV and highlights the presence of poly-victimization among male victims. Additionally, we point out how the so-called minor forms of SV (i.e., hands-off SV) can have a large effect on male victims. The study ends with suggestions for care and future research. The aim of this study is to analyze the well-being of individuals who had a newborn child during the previous year and to compare their well-being with that of individuals who had children previously and with childless individuals. The sample consisted of 2008 respondents (81% women) who participated in an online survey. Respondents rated their life satisfaction, positive and negative affect, and flourishing in two time points spanning one year. 102 respondents experienced childbirth between the two time points, 673 had children before, and 1233 did not have children. The results show that life satisfaction increased between two time points in the subsample of individuals who had a child during the previous year; they also had higher life satisfaction compared to other parents and non-parents. There was no difference between the groups in affective well-being and flourishing. However, parents who had a newborn child showed a decrease in flourishing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Antibiotic resistance is a public health concern in Nigeria and the world, and healthcare workers contributed to the upsurge of antibiotic resistance in hospital settings. This study focused on the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of antibiotic use and the frequency of prescriptions of antibiotics from the list of WHO Model Essentials Antibiotics (AWaRe) (in the last 6 months) among healthcare workers and established the determining factors in six hospitals in Niger state, Nigeria. Methodology: A KAP survey was conducted in Niger State, Nigeria, from March to June 2022. A structured self-administered, pretested questionnaire was distributed to six hospitals in the state following a stratified random sampling considering the staff capacity, the population of the city, and patients' patronage. Results: A total of 350 questionnaires distributed, and 313 (89.4%) completed and returned from the six hospitals. The median scores were knowledge (75%), attitude (69%), practice (62%), and self-reported prescription (70%), and respondents with good scores were knowledge [195 (62.3%)], attitude [185 (59.1%)], practice [201 (64.2%)], and prescription [117 (37.4%)]. In multivariate analysis, older respondents are more likely to have a good prescription (p = 0.006), and prior antimicrobial training improved their knowledge (p < 0.001), attitude (p = 0.007), and prescription pattern (p = 0.009). All the study participants had prescribed one or more of the most prescribed antibiotics; Amoxicillin clavulanate (Access group, 96.5%), Amoxicillin (Access group, 95.9%), and Metronidazole (Access group, 95.7%). Conclusions: The study suggests that antibiotic education for healthcare workers and antimicrobial stewardship programs are significant interventions to mitigate antibiotic overuse in the state. Background: Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) is a common cause of hip pain, especially in young patients. When left untreated, it has been demonstrated to be a risk factor for the onset or progression of osteoarthritis (OA) and has been identified as one of the main contributors leading to the need for total hip arthroplasty (THA) at a young age. While the short-term therapeutic potential of hip arthroscopy is widely recognized, little is known regarding its potential mid- to long-term preventive effect on the progression of hip OA. Purpose: To (1) report clinical outcomes of arthroscopically treated FAI syndrome with a minimum 5-year follow-up and compare the results to a cohort with FAI treated nonsurgically and (2) determine the influence of hip arthroscopy on the onset and progression of hip OA in patients diagnosed with FAI. Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: Patients who had hip pain and were diagnosed with FAI were included. Exclusion criteria were (1) previous or concomitant hip surgery, (2) <5 years of follow-up, and (3) insufficient radiographs. Patients treated with hip arthroscopy were compared with a cohort of patients with FAI who were treated nonsurgically. Kaplan-Meier estimates of failure (defined as conversion to THA) were performed. Bivariate analysis and Cox regression were used to identify factors associated with inferior clinical and radiographic outcomes. Results: A total of 957 patients (650 female, 307 male; 1114 hips) (mean age, 28.03 ± 8.9 years [range, 6.5-41.0 years]) with FAI were included. A total of 132 hips underwent hip arthroscopy and 982 hips were nonoperatively treated. The mean follow-up was 12.5 ± 4.7 years (range, 5.0-23.4 years). At the final follow-up, the rate of OA progression was 26.5% in the operative group and 35.2% in the nonoperative cohort (P <.01). Conversion to THA was performed in 6.8% of the surgical patients and 10.5% of the initially nonsurgical patients (P =.19). Additionally, there was no significant difference in the risk of failure between the operatively and nonoperatively treated patients. Male sex, increased age at initial diagnosis, presence of cam morphology, and increased initial Tönnis grade were risk factors for failure (male sex: hazard ratio [HR], 2.3; P <.01; per year of increased age: HR, 1.1; P <.01; presence of cam: HR, 3.5; P <.01; per Tönnis grade: HR, 4.0; P <.01). Conclusion: At a mean follow-up of nearly 13 years, 7% of patients of the surgical group experienced progression to THA, compared with 11% of the nonoperative control group. While most of the operative group showed little to no OA at final follow-up, moderate OA (Tönnis grade 2) was present in 12% of the cohort compared with 22% of nonsurgical patients. Increased age at diagnosis, male sex, presence of a cam morphology, and presence of initial arthritic joint changes were found to be risk factors for failure. The results of this study demonstrated evidence for a preventive effect of hip arthroscopy on the development and progression of OA in young patients with FAI at mid- to long-term follow-up. Objective: To investigate the effects of multidirectional elastic tape on pain and function in individuals with lateral elbow tendinopathy. Study Design: Randomised crossover trial. Setting: Biomechanics laboratory. Subjects: 27 participants (11 females, mean (SD) age: 48.6 (11.9) years) with clinically diagnosed lateral elbow tendinopathy of at least six weeks' duration. Interventions: Tensioned multidirectional elastic tape applied over the wrist, compared to control tape (untensioned), and no tape conditions. Main measures: Pain-free grip strength and pressure pain threshold were recorded at three timepoints for each condition: baseline, post-application, and following an exercise circuit. Change scores were calculated as the post-application or post-exercise value minus baseline. Repeated-measure analyses of variance were used to examine differences between conditions. Results: There were no statistically significant differences in pain-free grip strength between conditions (flexed position: F2,52 = 0.02, p = 0.98; extended position: F2,52 = 2.26, p = 0.12) or across timepoints (post-application vs post-exercise) (flexed position: F1,26 = 0.94, p = 0.34; extended position: F1,26 = 0.79, p = 0.38). Seven participants (26%) increased pain-free grip strength above the minimal detectable change following application of multidirectional elastic tape. There were no statistically significant differences in pressure pain threshold between conditions (affected lateral epicondyle: F1.51,39.17 = 0.54, p = 0.54) or across timepoints (affected lateral epicondyle: F1,26 = 0.94, p = 0.34). Conclusion: Tensioned multidirectional elastic tape may not immediately improve pain-free grip strength or pressure pain threshold in our lateral elbow tendinopathy population; however, individual variation may exist. Acute stent thrombosis (AST) is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. The main aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and C-reactive protein (CRP) to albumin ratio (CAR) in predicting AST and high SYNTAX score in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The criteria of the Academic Research Consortium were used to determine definite stent thrombosis. A total of 2077 consecutive patients with ACS undergoing PCI were retrospectively enrolled. Platelet, white blood cell and neutrophil counts, as well as SII, CRP, CAR, and peak cardiac troponin I (cTnI) values were significantly higher, whereas the lymphocyte count and albumin values were significantly lower in the AST (+) group compared with the AST (−) group (P <.05). SYNTAX score showed significant positive correlations with SII (r =.429, P <.001) and CRP (r =.402, P <.001). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that SII and CAR, as well as age, diabetes mellitus, stent length, and peak cTnI are independent predictors of AST and high SYNTAX score. Background: Physical fatigue and cognitive performance have been suggested as risk factors for an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, and fatigue has also been demonstrated to reduce cognitive processing. The combined effects of fatigue and lower cognitive function during cognitive-challenging movements may increase knee mechanics associated with the ACL injury risk. Hypotheses: We hypothesized that (1) knee mechanics would be detrimentally affected by fatigue and associated with baseline cognitive function and (2) fatigue-induced deleterious changes in cognitive performance and knee mechanics would be correlated. Study Design: Descriptive laboratory study. Methods: A total of 22 athletes completed baseline cognitive testing. After performing maximal vertical jumps, they performed a jump-land-jump task based on unanticipated visual cues. Then, they completed a fatigue protocol including countermovement jumps, among other tasks, until the jump height decreased below 90% of their assessed maximum. Immediately after reaching the first fatigue point, they performed another set of jump-landing tasks, followed by repeating the fatigue protocol until the jump height decreased below 85% of their assessed maximum. After reaching the second fatigue point, they performed a final set of jump-landing tasks and repeated the initial cognitive assessment battery. Results: Mixed-effects models revealed that knee flexion decreased through the fatigue protocol (baseline: 61.8°; midpoint: 61.1°; final: 60.1°; P =.003). Stepwise regression showed that fatigue-worsened attentional control corresponded to smaller knee abduction angles (R 2adjusted = 51.68%; βstandardized = 1.16; P =.001), and worse reaction time after fatigue correlated with increased knee abduction angles (βstandardized = 0.85; P =.006) after accounting for the role of attentional control. Conclusion: Fatigue induced incremental modifications in sagittal-plane knee mechanics during an unanticipated sports movement. In addition, fatigue induced changes in cognitive function related to ACL injury–relevant knee mechanics. Background: Operative treatment of displaced tibial spine fractures consists of fixation and reduction of the fragment in addition to restoring tension of the anterior cruciate ligament. Purpose: To determine whether residual displacement of the anterior portion of a tibial spine fragment affects the range of motion (ROM) or laxity in operatively and nonoperatively treated patients. Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: Data were gathered from 328 patients younger than 18 years who were treated for tibial spine fractures between 2000 and 2019 at 10 institutions. ROM and anterior lip displacement (ALD) measurements were summarized and compared from pretreatment to final follow-up. ALD measurements were categorized as excellent (0 to <1 mm), good (1 to <3 mm), fair (3 to 5 mm), or poor (>5 mm). Posttreatment residual laxity and arthrofibrosis were assessed. Results: Overall, 88% of patients (290/328) underwent operative treatment. The median follow-up was 8.1 months (range, 3-152 months) for the operative group and 6.7 months (range, 3-72 months) for the nonoperative group. The median ALD measurement of the cohort was 6 mm pretreatment, decreasing to 0 mm after treatment (P <.001). At final follow-up, 62% of all patients (203/328) had excellent ALD measurements, compared with 5% (12/264) before treatment. Subjective laxity was seen in 11% of the nonoperative group (4/37) and 5% of the operative group (15/285; P =.25). Across the cohort, there was no association between final knee ROM and final ALD category. While there were more patients with arthrofibrosis in the operative group (7%) compared with the nonoperative group (3%) (P =.49), this was not different across the ALD displacement categories. Conclusion: Residual ALD was not associated with posttreatment subjective residual laxity, extension loss, or flexion loss. Background: For elite professional soccer players and alpine skiers, injuries associated with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture, such as meniscal, cartilage, or collateral ligament lesions, could result in a delayed return to sport compared with isolated ACL injury. Purpose/Hypothesis: The purpose of the study was to provide a detailed description of associated injuries at the time of primary ACL reconstruction in elite soccer players and alpine skiers. It was hypothesized that soccer players and skiers would present different typical injury patterns due to different injury mechanisms. Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: Surgical reports and arthroscopic images of elite professional soccer players and alpine skiers who underwent primary ACL reconstruction at a single institution between January 2010 and June 2022 were analyzed retrospectively. The presence and location of multiligamentous injury, meniscal tears, and chondral lesions were compared between the athlete groups. A propensity score matching analysis with 1:1 ratio was performed between skiers and soccer players to limit the effect of selection bias. Results: Included were ACL reconstruction data representative of 37 soccer players and 44 alpine skiers. Meniscal pathology was found in 32 (86%) soccer players and 30 (68%) skiers. Chondral injuries were reported in 11 (30%) soccer players and 15 (34%) skiers. Results of the propensity score matching analysis in 15 pairs of soccer players and skiers indicated that soccer players had a significantly higher rate of medial meniscal injuries (73% vs 27%; P =.03) and lateral posterior root tears (33% vs 0%; P =.04) compared with skiers. Conclusion: A higher prevalence of combined chondral and meniscal injuries versus isolated ACL injuries was observed in both groups of athletes. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the three-dimensional changes in maxillary alveolar morphology after using modified NAM in patients with complete unilateral cleft lip and palate. Design: This is a retrospective study. Setting: The study was carried out in the dental hospital, Faculty of Dentistry of Naresuan University, Phitsanulok, which serves as a tertiary care center. Patients: The population sample consisted of 19 patients with nonsyndromic complete unilateral cleft lip and palate. Intervention: All patients received the modified NAM treatment based on the treatment protocol of the Naresuan University Cleft and Craniofacial Center, Thailand. Main Outcome Measure: Dental models obtained at pre-treatment (T0) and post-treatment (T1) were scanned to construct the digital models. The maxillary digital models that showed dimensional changes between T0 and T1 were measured using a computer graphic software. Results: The modified NAM resulted in a significant decrease in the anterior cleft width, posterior cleft width, and anterior arch width. Conversely, it caused a significant increase in the length of the lesser cleft segment and the greater segment rotation. However, the change in the height of both segments and posterior arch width was not found to be significant. Background: Cognitive appraisals play a fundamental role in mental health outcomes following exposure to trauma. Appraisals influence emotional reactions, coping responses, and adaptation to stress and represent a modifiable factor that can serve as a central focus for intervention. Most studies have primarily focused on the role of dysfunctional cognitions in the persistence of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In this study, we extend research in this area by investigating the role of problem-solving appraisal, an adaptive cognitive strategy, in the association between stress and PTSD. Methods: A total of 322 participants completed the Perceived Stress Scale, the problem-solving inventory (PSI), and the PTSD Checklist for DSM-5. Descriptive statistics were generated, and intercorrelations and mediation analysis were performed. Results: Problem-solving confidence and personal control partially mediated the relationship between stress and PTSD. However, contrary to existing research, the approach-avoidance style, which is a subscale of the PSI, did not mediate the relationship between these variables. Conclusion: Interventions for PTSD should incorporate a complementary focus on developing and increasing adaptive cognitions pertaining to personal control and confidence in problem-solving abilities. Background: Osteoarthritis is a chronic, progressive, and degenerative condition with limited therapy options. Recently, biologic therapies have been an evolving option for the management of osteoarthritis. Purpose: To assess whether allogenic mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) have the potential to improve functional parameters and induce cartilage regeneration in patients with osteoarthritis. Study Design: Randomized controlled trial; Level of evidence, 1. Methods: A total of 146 patients with grade 2 and 3 osteoarthritis were randomized to either an MSC group or placebo group with a ratio of 1:1. There were 73 patients per group who received either a single intra-articular injection of bone marrow–derived MSCs (BMMSCs; 25 million cells) or placebo, followed by 20 mg per 2 mL of hyaluronic acid under ultrasound guidance. The primary endpoint was the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) total score. The secondary endpoints were WOMAC subscores for pain, stiffness, and physical function; the visual analog scale score for pain; and magnetic resonance imaging findings using T2 mapping and cartilage volume. Results: Overall, 65 patients from the BMMSC group and 68 patients from the placebo group completed 12-month follow-up. The BMMSC group showed significant improvements in the WOMAC total score compared with the placebo group at 6 and 12 months (percentage change: −23.64% [95% CI, −32.88 to −14.40] at 6 months and −45.60% [95% CI, −55.97 to −35.23] at 12 months P <.001; percentage change, −44.3%). BMMSCs significantly improved WOMAC pain, stiffness, and physical function subscores as well as visual analog scale scores at 6 and 12 months (P <.001). T2 mapping showed that there was no worsening of deep cartilage in the medial femorotibial compartment of the knee in the BMMSC group at 12-month follow-up, whereas in the placebo group, there was significant and gradual worsening of cartilage (P <.001). Cartilage volume did not change significantly in the BMMSC group. There were 5 adverse events that were possibly/probably related to the study drug and consisted of injection-site swelling and pain, which improved within a few days. Conclusion: In this small randomized trial, BMMSCs proved to be safe and effective for the treatment of grade 2 and 3 osteoarthritis. The intervention was simple and easy to administer, provided sustained relief of pain and stiffness, improved physical function, and prevented worsening of cartilage quality for ≥12 months. Background: Mindfulness in Motion (MIM) is a workplace resilience-building intervention that has shown reductions in perceived stress and burnout, as well as increased resilience and work engagement in health care workers. Objective: To evaluate effects of MIM delivered in a synchronous virtual format on self-reported respiratory rates (RR), as well as perceived stress and resiliency of health care workers. Methods: Breath counts were self-reported by 275 participants before and after 8 weekly MIM sessions. MIM was delivered virtually in a group format as a structured, evidence-based workplace intervention including a variety of mindfulness, relaxation, and resilience-building techniques. Participants counted their breaths for 30 seconds, which was then multiplied by 2 to report RR. Additionally, participants completed Perceived Stress Scale and Connor–Davidson Resiliency Scale. Results: According to mixed effect analyses there were main effects of MIM Session (P <.001) and Weeks (P <.001), but no Session by Week interaction (P =.489) on RR. On average, RR prior to MIM sessions were reduced from 13.24 bpm (95% CI = 12.94, 13.55 bpm) to 9.69 bpm (95% CI = 9.39, 9.99 bpm). When comparing average Pre-MIM and Post-MIM RR throughout the MIM intervention, Week-2 (mean = 12.34; 95% CI = 11.89, 12.79 bpm) was not significantly different than Week-1 (mean = 12.78; 95% CI = 12.34, 13.23 bpm), but Week-3 through Week-8 demonstrated significantly lower average Pre-MIM and Post-MIM RR compared to Week-1 (average weekly difference range: 1.36 to 2.48 bpm, P <.05). Perceived stress was reduced from Week-1 (17.52 ± 6.25) to after Week-8 (13.52 ± 6.04; P <.001), while perceived resiliency was increased from Week-1 (11.30 ± 5.14) to after Week-8 (19.29 ± 2.58); P <.001). Conclusion: Thus far, completion of MIM sessions has shown acute and long-term effects on self-reported RR, but more research is required to determine the extent of improved parasympathetic (relaxed) states. Intimate partner violence (IPV) is an extensive public health concern, largely affecting women aged 20 to 24 years. Research suggests that bisexual women are more likely than heterosexual and homosexual women to be victims of IPV. Bisexual women are also more likely to be blamed for their abuse experiences after disclosing, a phenomenon known as victim blame attribution (VBA). However, very little VBA research recognizes bisexuality as a separate category. Therefore, the main aim of this quasi-experimental study was to investigate the role of female victim sexuality (bisexuality, homosexuality, and heterosexuality) and observer sex in the attribution of blame to the victim and perpetrator of IPV. Participants (N = 232; aged 18–24 years, M = 21.05, SD = 1.73) were randomly assigned into one of four conditions (heterosexual victim, bisexual victim with same-sex partner, bisexual victim with different-sex partner, homosexual victim), each containing a vignette portraying IPV within a relationship. Randomization checks were performed to ensure that participants in the four conditions did not differ significantly on underlying attitudes (institutional heterosexism (IH), aversive heterosexism (AH), heterosexual privilege (HP), sexist attitudes, just world beliefs) that may have affected their responses on outcome measures. Main analyses demonstrated that bisexual victims with a same-sex partner received the highest attribution of blame, whereas perpetrators in this condition received the lowest blame attribution. Male participants attributed significantly higher blame to victims than did female participants, regardless of victim sexuality. These findings substantiate the role of victim sexuality and observer sex in IPV blame attribution patterns. Background: Cancer has been associated with an increased risk of in-hospital mortality in CDI patients. However, data on delayed mortality in cancer patients with CDI are scarce. Aim/Objective: The aim of the present study was to compare outcomes between oncological patients and the general population with Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) after 90 days of follow-up. Methods: A multicenter prospective cohort study was conducted in 28 hospitals participating in the VINCat program. Cases were all consecutive adult patients who met the case definition of CDI. Sociodemographic, clinical, and epidemiological variables and evolution at discharge and after 90 days were recorded for each case. Findings/results: The mortality rate was higher in oncological patients (OR = 1.70, 95% CI: 1.08–2.67). In addition, oncological patients receiving chemotherapy (CT) presented higher recurrence rates (18.5% vs 9.8%, p = 0.049). Among oncological patients treated with metronidazole, those with active CT showed a higher rate of recurrence (35.3% vs 8.0% p = 0.04). Discussion: Oncological patients presented a higher risk of poor outcomes after CDI. Background: The Broström procedure with suture tape augmentation has become commonplace for surgical treatment of chronic lateral ankle instability. However, there is no consensus among surgeons whether internal bracing of the ATFL alone or a combined ATFL and calcaneofibular ligament (CFL) internal brace produces superior clinical outcomes. This retrospective study aims to investigate whether isolated internal bracing of the ATFL has comparable outcomes to combined ATFL and CFL brace. Methods: There were 85 patients from a single tertiary medical center's electronic medical record identified who underwent an ATFL or ATFL and CFL reconstruction between January 2017 and December 2020. Postoperative outcomes including patient satisfaction, ankle instability, ankle pain, and the need for revision surgery at 1-year follow-up were evaluated. Results: Forty-eight patients underwent isolated ATFL reconstruction, and 37 underwent combined ATFL and CFL reconstruction. The choice was made between the 2 options based on surgeon preference. At 1-year follow-up, postoperative outcomes were statistically indistinguishable between the 2 treatment groups. Conclusion: The modified Broström reconstruction with ATFL and CFL reconstruction with an internal brace did not produce superior functional outcomes measured at 1 year compared to isolated ATFL reconstruction. Objectives: We aimed to elucidate whether lower limb extra-fascial compartment and muscle areas affect the calf muscle pumping action on lower limbs. Method: This study included 90 patients (180 limbs) who underwent preoperative air plethysmography (APG) and preoperative non-contrast computed tomography (CT) of the lower limbs for diagnosis of unilateral or bilateral primary varicose veins. A correlation between cross-sectional CT images and preoperative APG was confirmed. Cross-sectional CT was used to measure the extra-fascial compartment and muscle areas of the calf. The lower limbs were divided into two groups: those that were normal and those with primary varicose veins. Results: The extra-fascial compartment area was significantly correlated with the ejection fraction in normal (r = 0.388, n = 53, p = 0.004) and varicose limbs (r = 0.232, n = 91, p = 0.027). Sexual and gender minority (SGM) women are among the many victims killed by intimate partner homicide (IPH) each year, though the differences between different SGM groups (and how these groups compare to non-SGM IPH) have not been well established. The objective of this article was to identify practicable, correlated risk factors of IPH of SGM women that may have utility in prevention of future IPH among these populations in the U.S. Homicide data from the National Violent Death Reporting System spanning 2003 to 2017 were used to identify a profile of IPH specific to SGM women compared to women who were neither sexual nor gender minorities. Situational and individual characteristics significantly differentiated sexual minority (SM) women from non-SGM women victims of IPH, including substance abuse history (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] = 4.80 [2.42, 9.51]), having themselves used a weapon during the incident (AOR = 3.63 [1.44, 9.16]), and the type of weapon(s) used, such as firearms (AOR = 0.61 [0.40, 0.91]), with notably different differentiating characteristics for gender minority (GM) women (vs. non-SGM women) such as the likelihood that thevictim was known to have experienced interpersonal violence victimization in the previous month (AOR = 0.50 [0.07, 3.67]). Lesbian and bisexual women homicide victims were far more likely to have been killed via IPH than non-SGM women (AOR for Black SM women = 7.84 [3.65, 16.88], AOR for White SM women = 2.30 [1.03, 5.17]). There was no corresponding difference for GM women victims, whose likelihood of being killed by an intimate partner was similar to that of non-SGM women. Based on these findings, actionable public health recommendations--centered around evidence that neither "all women" nor "all LGBTQ people" are appropriate intimate partner violence prevention umbrellas--are proposed. Background: There is a significant long-term risk of posttraumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). Elucidating the risk factors and successfully identifying at-risk patients is challenging. Purpose/Hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to produce machine learning survival models that can identify (1) patients at risk of symptomatic PTOA and (2) patients who are at risk of undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) after ACLR. It was hypothesized that these models would outperform traditional Kaplan-Meier estimators. Study Design: Case-control study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: A geographic database was used to identify patients undergoing ACLR between 1990 and 2016 with a minimum 7.5-year follow-up. Models were used to analyze various factors to predict the rate and time to (1) symptomatic osteoarthritis and (2) TKA using random survival forest (RSF) algorithms. Performance was measured using out-of-bag (OOB) c-statistic, calibration, and Brier score. The predictive performances of the RSF models were compared with Kaplan-Meier estimators. Model interpretability was enhanced utilizing global variable importance and partial dependence curves. Results: A total of 974 patients with ACLR and a minimum follow-up of 7.5 years were included; among these, 215 (22.1%) developed symptomatic osteoarthritis, and 25 (2.6%) progressed to TKA. The RSF algorithms achieved acceptable good to excellent predictive performance for symptomatic arthritis (OOB c-statistic, 0.75; Brier score, 0.128) and progression to TKA (OOB c-statistic, 0.89; Brier score, 0.026), respectively. Significant predictors of symptomatic PTOA included increased pain scores, older age, increased body mass index, increased time to ACLR, total number of arthroscopic surgeries before the diagnosis of arthritis, positive pivot-shift test after reconstruction, concomitant chondral injury, secondary meniscal tear, early (<250 days) or delayed (>500 days) return to sports or activity, and use of allograft. Significant predictors for TKA included older age, increased pain scores, total number of arthroscopic surgeries, high-demand activity/occupation, hypermobility, higher body mass index, systemic inflammatory disease, increased time to surgery, early (<250 days) or delayed (>500 days) return to sports or activity, and midsubstance tears. The Brier score over time revealed that RSF models outperformed traditional Kaplan-Meier estimators. Conclusion: Machine learning survival models were used to reliably identify patients at risk of developing symptomatic PTOA, and these models consistently outperformed traditional Kaplan-Meier estimators. Strong predictors for the development of PTOA after ACLR included increased pain scores at injury and postoperative visit, older age at injury, total number of arthroscopic procedures, positive postoperative pivot-shift test, and secondary meniscal tear. Background/objective: Since, to our knowledge, the effects of dry needling (DN) on active myofascial trigger point (MTrP) stiffness have not been analyzed previously with shear wave elastography (SWE), our aim was to compare the effects of a single session of DN and sham DN applied to the most active MTrP located in the upper trapezius muscle on clinical outcomes. Methods: A randomized, double-blinded sham-controlled trial was conducted; 60 patients were randomized into an experimental (DN) or sham (sham DN) group. Baseline data including sociodemographic and clinical characteristics were collected. SWE and pain pressure thresholds (PPTs) at the MTrP and a control point located 3 cm laterally were the main outcomes assessed before and 10 min after the interventions. Results: Patients receiving DN interventions experienced greater increases in the control point PPTs immediately after receiving the intervention compared with sham DN (p < 0.05), but no differences were found for the MTrP (p > 0.05). Post-intervention PPT improvements were found at both locations for both groups (p < 0.01). No significant changes for either MTrP or control locations were found for SWE outcomes in either group (all p s > 0.05). No significant within-group SWE differences were found in the DN or sham DN groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion: A single session of DN or sham DN applied to active MTrPs located in the upper trapezius muscle produced no detectable changes in stiffness at the MTrP or control locations. Background: Increased posterior tibial slope (PTS) is a risk factor for knee pathology. Accurate measurement of PTS is predicated on a quality lateral knee radiograph; however, little is known about how the quality of the radiograph affects the measured PTS. Purposes: To (1) describe a method for measuring malalignment on lateral knee radiographs, (2) assess the effects of malpositioning of the knee on radiographic measures of malalignment, and (3) determine any correlations between malalignment and the measured PTS. Study Design: Descriptive laboratory study. Methods: Using a setup similar to that of a standard radiology suite, 25 sets of radiographs were taken using 5 sawbone models. Each set included a true lateral view and separate malpositioned radiographs at 5°, 10°, and 15° of adduction, abduction, internal rotation, and external rotation. Malalignment for each radiograph was quantified as the anterior-posterior distance (APD) and proximal-distal distance (PDD) between femoral condyles. The medial PTS was measured in duplicate, and the interrater reliability was calculated. Results: The interrater reliability was excellent, with intraclass correlation coefficients of 0.92, 0.91, and 0.96 for the APD, PDD, and PTS, respectively. Malrotation significantly affected the APD (P <.001), with a mean change of 5.6 mm per 5°. Malpositioning in abduction/adduction significantly affected the PDD (P <.001), with a mean change of 5.1 mm per 5°. There was no significant impact of rotation or APD on the PTS. Abduction/adduction did affect the PTS (P <.001) above a threshold of 5° of malpositioning. The PTS decreased as the PDD increased, moving from adduction to abduction (R 2 = 0.5687). Conclusion: The measured PTS was more sensitive to malpositioning by abduction/adduction than by malrotation. Malrotation affected the APD, while abduction/adduction affected the PDD. Thus, the accuracy of the measured PTS was compromised more by poorly aligned distal femoral condyles than it was by poorly aligned posterior femoral condyles. Objectives: Musculoskeletal pain, one of the most common issues faced by older adults, has multidimensional effects including an increased risk of malnutrition. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the association between pain interference and nutritional status in older adults with chronic musculoskeletal pain. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, data were collected from older adults (age: >60 years) using the brief pain inventory and mini nutritional assessment questionnaire. The correlation between pain interference, pain severity, and nutritional status was assessed using the chi-square test and Spearman's rank correlation. Multiple logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the variables associated with abnormal nutrition status. Results: Overall 241 older adults were recruited in the study. The median (IQR) age of the participants was 70 (11) years, pain severity subscale was 4.2 (1.8), and pain interference subscale was 3.3 (3.1). Abnormal nutritional status was positively correlated with pain interference (Odds ratio [OR]: 1.26; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.08-1.48; P =.004), pain severity (OR: 1.25; 95% CI: 1.02-1.53; P =.034), age (OR 1.06; 95% CI: 1.01-1.11, P =.011), and hypertension (OR = 2.17; 95% CI: 1.11-4.26; P =.024). Conclusions: This study reports a strong correlation between pain interference and nutritional status. Therefore, pain interference can be a useful pain assessment tool to indicate risk of abnormal nutritional status in older adults. Objectives: Methamphetamine (METH) use has been associated with impairments in a variety of cognitive functions. In this study, it was aimed to assess the relation between cognitive measures and frequency of METH use. Methods: Ninety-eight participants with methamphetamine use disorder were assessed with Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST), Victoria-Stroop Word Color Test (SWCT), Trail Making Test (TMT) A and B. Participants were followed up during 6-month period with multiple urine toxicology tests (at baseline, month 1, month 2, month 3 and month 6). Results: Participants who had their prescriptions regularly were more likely to have higher rates of METH-negative urine results (P =.003). Participants who had more correct numbers, completed more categories and had more conceptual level responses on WCST were more likely to use lower frequency of METH (OR = 0.006, P <.01; OR = 0.171, P <.001; OR = 0.024, P <.001; respectively). The higher error numbers and perseverative error rates on WCST were associated with more frequent METH use (OR = 0.023, P <.001; OR = 0.076, P <.001). Interference factor on SWCT was related with lower frequency of METH use whereas color naming factor on SWCT was related with higher rates of urine results (OR = 0.012, P <.001; OR = 3.628, P <.001; respectively). Higher TMT B-A score was related with more frequent METH use, although the significance disappeared after adjustment (OR = 0.002, P <.001). Having psychotic symptoms predicted less frequent use, but after adjustment for other significant variables, there was no significance. Conclusion: Lower frequency of METH use in the follow-up could be predicted by neurocognitive assessments. Deficits in executive functions, attention, set-shifting and mental flexibility seems to be the most effected domains and this effect may be independent from the severity of psychotic symptoms. Introduction: Intercultural sensitivity and xenophobia levels of health education students can affect the care they give to the patient. It is important to know the level of intercultural sensitivity and xenophobia of students receiving health education and to determine the relationship between them. The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between xenophobic attitudes and intercultural sensitivity among university students. Methods: This quantitative cross-sectional research was conducted in between January and June 2022 with health education students. The study conducted with health education students at Gumushane University and Agri Ibrahim Cecen University. Child Development, Nursing, Emergency Management Services/Technicians, Nutrition and Dietetics, Elderly care, Social services, Medical Laboratory Techniques, and Disabled Care studying at these universities were included in the study. Students who received health education and wanted to participate voluntarily in the study were included. Students aged 18 and over, studying in the health education department of the university, studying in the 1, 2, 3, 4th classes and volunteering to participate in the study were included in the study. The Introductory Information Form, the Xenophobia Scale, and the Intercultural Sensitivity Scale were used to collect the research data. Results: This study was conducted with 789 students. According to our study, a significant negative correlation was found between the students' xenophobia scale and the intercultural sensitivity scale total score means (p <.05). Intercultural sensitivity has a negative and significant effect on the level of xenophobia (β = -0.116; t (787) = -3.283, p =.001). A significant difference was found between the students' Xenophobia Scale total score mean and gender, department, and grade (p <.05) as was the case between Intercultural Sensitivity Scale total score mean and gender, department, grade, immigrant acquaintance, and foreign language knowledge (English language) level (p <.05). Discussion: Intercultural sensitivity has a negative and significant effect on the level of xenophobia. It can negatively affect the level of caregiving of students receiving health education. It is thought that intercultural sensitivity will be developed by including course content in the curriculum to increase students' intercultural effectiveness and awareness levels and to reduce xenophobic prejudices. Background: The Anterior Cruciate Ligament–Return to Sport After Injury (ACL-RSI) scale measures athletes' emotion, confidence, and risk appraisal when returning to sports after an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and/or ACL reconstruction (ACLR). Purpose: To translate the ACL-RSI into the Indonesian language and to assess its validity and reliability in Indonesian-speaking patients after ACLR. Study Design: Cohort study (diagnosis); Level of evidence, 2. Methods: After a forward-and-backward translation procedure, the validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of the ACL-RSI (I-ACL-RSI) were investigated. Patients who had undergone ACLR at a single hospital were asked to complete 4 questionnaires: I-ACL-RSI, Injury–Psychological Readiness to Return to Sport, Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia, and International Knee Documentation Committee. After a 2-week interval, patients were asked to complete the I-ACL-RSI a second time. Following the COSMIN reporting guidelines (Consensus-Based Standards for the Selection of Health Measurement Instruments), we determined construct validity using hypothesis testing, as well as test-retest reliability, internal consistency, floor and ceiling effects, and measurement error. Results: Of 200 eligible patients, 102 (51%) were included in the analysis. All predefined hypotheses on correlations between the I-ACL-RSI and the other questionnaires were confirmed, indicating good construct validity. An intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.90 (2-way random, type agreement) was found for the first and second I-ACL-RSI scores, indicating good test-retest reliability. A Cronbach α of 0.95 indicated good internal consistency, and no floor or ceiling effects were found. The standard error of measurement was 3.9, with the minimal detectable change calculated as 10.9 points at the individual level and 1.1 points at the group level. Introduction: Positive risk-taking in occupational therapy intermediate care is a requirement, yet little is known about how positive risk-taking barriers influence discharge decisions at different experience levels. Method: A factorial survey was used to investigate positive risk-taking barriers (Limited Capacity, Risk Averse Family, Blame Culture and No Support). Participants self-categorised their experience level into Novice or Semi-expert or Expert before analysing four vignettes relating to recommending a home discharge for an older adult. Data were analysed using Multiple Regression and One-Way Analysis of Variance. Results: Seventy-four participants responded to two hundred eighty-one vignettes. The barriers that reduced the likelihood to recommend a home discharge for an older adult were 'No Support', Novices (β = −0.315, p = 0.002), Semi-experts (β = −0.313, p = 0.001) Experts (β = −0.254, p = 0.009); 'Limited Capacity', Novices (β = −0.305, p < 0.003), Semi-experts (β = −0.254, p = 0.006) Experts (β = −0.376, p = 0.001) and 'Blame Culture' Semi-experts (β = −0.240, p = 0.010). Novices were found to be less likely to recommend a home discharge by comparison. Conclusion: The 'Limited Capacity', 'No Support' and 'Blame Culture' barriers had the strongest effect and Novices were less likely to recommend a home discharge overall. Background: Social media has the potential to act as an avenue for patient recruitment, patient and surgeon education, and expansion of the physician-patient relationship. Purpose: To evaluate the existing social media presence among members of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) to describe trends in different subgroups within the membership. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The AOSSM database was queried for a complete membership list. Members were excluded from analysis if they were not orthopaedic sports medicine surgeons practicing in the United States. Demographic characteristics, online media profiles, and levels of online presence were evaluated, and an online media presence score was calculated. Bivariate analysis was performed to compare demographic variables and levels of online presence. Results: A total of 2870 surgeons were included in the analysis. LinkedIn was the most used platform (56%), while YouTube was the least used (10%). Surgeons in academic practice had a significantly greater overall social media presence than their private practice counterparts. Female surgeons had a more significant active online presence on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook than male surgeons. Surgeons practicing in the Northeast had a greater social media presence than those in any other United States region, and surgeons in the earlier stages of practice (0-14 years) were more likely to utilize social media than their more senior colleagues (≥15 years of practice). On multivariate analysis, surgeons in the earlier stages of practice were more likely to have active Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook accounts, and female surgeons were more likely to have an active Facebook account. Additionally, multivariate analysis revealed that a greater number of ResearchGate publications were associated with male sex and having an academic practice. Comparatively, active Twitter and Instagram use was associated with having an academic practice. Conclusion: The most used platform in this surgeon population was LinkedIn. Orthopaedic surgeons in academic practice, female surgeons, those early in their career, and those practicing in the Northeast highlighted a subset of the sports medicine community who were more likely to have an active online presence compared to the rest of the AOSSM. Background: Healthcare workers report a higher incidence of depression than the general population. Work–family conflict is a risk factor, but the mechanisms explaining its association with depression are not well understood. This study examines the potential mediating and moderating role of sleep and decision latitude in translating work–family conflict into depression. Methods: In 2018, a cross-sectional survey was collected from healthcare workers (n = 1,059) in five public sector facilities in the northeast United States. The survey included questions on participants' work–family conflict, depression, sleep duration and disturbances, decision latitude, and other work environments and socio-demographic characteristics. Multivariable linear and Poisson regression modeling were used to examine associations among variables. Findings: There was a significant association between work–family conflict and depression (β = 2.70, p <.001). Sleep disturbances, although not short sleep duration, partially mediated this association. The association between work family–conflict and depression was stronger among workers with low decision latitude. Conclusions: Depression was prevalent among healthcare workers and was associated with work–family conflict. Sleep disturbances served as a significant mediator, while decision latitude modified the strength of the association. Application to Practice: Evidence-based interventions seeking to alleviate the effect of work–family conflict and improve healthcare workers' mental health should consider promoting employee sleep quality and improving employees' decision-making on the job. Background: Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) using the quadriceps tendon is an increasingly popular technique. Both partial-thickness quadriceps tendon (PT-Q) and full-thickness quadriceps tendon (FT-Q) graft depths are employed. Hypothesis/Purpose: This study was designed to assess isokinetic peak torque, average power, and total work during knee extension in patients with FT-Q or PT-Q grafts for ACLR. We hypothesized that both groups would show lower isokinetic values for the operated side, with greater deficits in the FT-Q group than in the PT-Q group. Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: A total of 26 patients who underwent ACLR with either an FT-Q or PT-Q graft were recruited between June 2021 and November 2021. Patients underwent isokinetic knee extension testing at > 1 year after surgery. Mixed repeated-measures analysis of covariance with least square difference post hoc testing was used to determine significant differences or interactions for all variables. Results: Peak torque was significantly lower for the operated limb than the nonoperated limb in the FT-Q group (mean difference [MD] ± standard error [SE], −38.6 ± 8.3 Nċm [95% CI, −55.7 to −21.5 Nċm]; P <.001; d = 0.90) but not in the PT-Q group (MD ± SE, −7.3 ± 7.7 Nċm [95% CI, −23.2 to 8.5 Nċm]; P =.348; d = 0.20). Similarly, average power for the operated limb was lower than that for the nonoperated limb in the FT-Q group (MD ± SE, −53.6 ± 13.4 W [95% CI, −81.3 to −26.9 W]; P <.001; d = 0.88) but not in the PT-Q group (MD ± SE, –4.1 ± 12.4 W [95% CI, −29.8 to 21.5 W]; P =.742; d = 0.07), and total work was lower for the operated limb compared with the nonoperated limb in the FT-Q group (MD ± SE, −118.2 ± 27.1 J [95% CI, −174.3 to −62.2 J]; P <.001; d = 0.96) but not in the PT-Q group (MD ± SE, −18.3 ± 25.1 J [95% CI, −70.2 to 33.6 J]; P =.472; d = 0.15). Conclusion: The FT-Q group showed significant deficits in the operated limb compared with the nonoperated limb for all isokinetic variables. Background: There are few well-studied clinical tests for the diagnosis of hip labral tears. As the differential diagnosis for hip pain is broad, accurate clinical examination is important in guiding advanced imaging and identifying patients who may benefit from surgical management. Purpose: To determine the diagnostic accuracy of 2 novel clinical tests for the diagnosis of hip labral tears. Study Design: Cohort study (diagnosis); Level of evidence, 2. Methods: Clinical examination findings including the Arlington, twist, and flexion-adduction-internal rotation (FADIR)/impingement tests as performed by a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip arthroscopy were obtained from retrospective chart review. The Arlington test ranges the hip from flexion-abduction-external rotation to FADIR while applying subtle internal rotation and external rotation motion. The twist test involves internal rotation and external rotation of the hip while weightbearing. Diagnostic accuracy statistics for each of the tests were calculated using magnetic resonance arthrography as the reference standard. Results: A total of 283 patients were included in the study with a mean age of 40.7 years (range, 13-77 years) and 66.4% were women. The Arlington test was found to have a sensitivity of 0.94 (95% CI, 0.90-0.96), specificity of 0.33 (95% CI, 0.16-0.56), positive predictive value (PPV) of 0.95 (95% CI, 0.92-0.97), and negative predictive value (NPV) of 0.26 (95% CI, 0.13-0.46). The twist test was found to have a sensitivity of 0.68 (95% CI, 0.62-0.73), specificity of 0.72 (95% CI, 0.49-0.88), PPV of 0.97 (95% CI, 0.94-0.99), and NPV of 0.13 (95% CI, 0.08-0.21). The FADIR/impingement test was found to have a sensitivity of 0.43 (95% CI, 0.37-0.49), specificity of 0.56 (95% CI, 0.34-0.75), PPV of 0.93 (95% CI, 0.87-0.97), and NPV of 0.06 (95% CI, 0.03-0.11). The Arlington test was significantly more sensitive than both the twist and FADIR/impingement tests (P <.05), while the twist test was significantly more specific than the Arlington test (P <.05). Conclusion: The Arlington test is more sensitive than the traditional FADIR/impingement test, while the twist test is more specific than the FADIR/impingement test in diagnosing hip labral tears in the hands of an experienced orthopaedic surgeon. While a growing number of studies have documented significant links between online racism (e.g., racist interactions, contents on racial violence) and comorbid factors (e.g., depression) associated with suicide risk, no studies have examined whether online racism predicts suicide ideation and if interpersonal factors can help explain this link. Thus, the current study examined the direct relationship between online racism and suicide ideation among racial minority emerging adults, and the indirect relationships via the interpersonal factors (perceived burdensomeness and thwarted belongingness). Using data from a convenience sample of 338 racial minority emerging adults, we conducted a path analysis with online racism predicting suicide ideation through thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensomeness. Online racism significantly predicted suicide ideation via perceived burdensomeness but not thwarted belongingness. Post hoc multi-group analysis found that this pathway was consistent across Black, Asian, and Latinx groups but was completely mediated for the Asian group. The findings suggest that online racism can increase feelings of being a burden to society, which can trigger thoughts of suicide. This process may be particularly salient among Asian individuals. Background: Despite initiatives to reduce central line–associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI), children and adolescents with hematologic malignancies, as well as those with relapsed disease, remain at the greatest risk for infection. This single-institution project evaluated changes in CLABSI rates following implementation of antibacterial prophylaxis with levofloxacin for patients with high-risk hematologic malignancies. Methods: Positive blood culture events meeting National Health Safety Network surveillance criteria to be classified as CLABSIs from January 1, 2006, to December 31, 2019, were included. Data were organized into four time periods for comparison based on implementation of CLABSI-reduction interventions. Conditional Poisson regression models were used to evaluate the effect of time (intervention period) on CLABSI rates with post hoc Tukey pairwise comparisons between each of the four time periods. Results: From 2006 and 2019, 227 patients experienced 310 CLABSIs. Clinically important decreases in CLABSI rates from baseline (4.84 per 1,000 line days) occurred with implementation of Children's Hospital Association (CHA) bundles (3.29 per 1,000 line days); however, this difference was not significant (p =.16). CLABSI rates decreased from baseline with the addition of formalized supportive cares (2.66 per 1,000 line days; incidence rate ratio [IRR] = 0.60; p <.01), and with the use of antibacterial prophylaxis (1.66 per 1,000 line days; IRR = 0.35; p <.01). Post hoc comparisons indicated decreased CLABSI rates with the use of antibacterial prophylaxis compared with CHA bundles alone (IRR = 0.49; p =.011) and CHA bundles plus formalized supportive cares (IRR = 0.58; p =.046). Discussion: Results demonstrate sustained success using a practice-based evidence approach to guide CLABSI-reduction interventions. Introduction: Handover is a key factor in the continuity of care and is the most vital communication means among nurses. Using an identical method for this can enhance the quality of the handover. Objective: To evaluate the effect of a shift reporting training program using the Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation tool on nurses' knowledge and practice and their perception of shift handoff communication in noncritical departments. Methods: A quasiexperimental research design. The study was held in noncritical departments on 83 staff nurses. Researcher used a knowledge questionnaire, an observation checklist, and two perception scales were used to collect data. Statistical data analysis was performed with SPSS using descriptive, chi-square or Fisher exact tests, correlation coefficient, multiple linear regression model. Results: Nurses varied in age from 22 to 45 years old, with 85.5% of them being female. After the intervention, their knowledge rose from 4.8% to 92.8% (p <.001), the adequate practice reached 100%, and their perception of the process had significant improvement (p <.001). Using multivariate analysis, the study involvement was the main significant independent positive predictor of nurses' knowledge and scores, and these latter were positive predictors of their perception. Conclusion: Using the shift work reporting method had a significant effect among the study participants using Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation tool and improved their knowledge, practice and perception of shift handoff communication.
