By a generalization of the Joukowski method, a procedure is developed for effecting localized modifications of airfoil shapes and for determining graphically the resultant changes in the pressure distribution. The application of the procedure to the determination of the pressure distribution over airfoils of original design is demonstrated. Formulas for the lift, the moment, and the aerodynamic center are also given.

A method for estimating the life of a regeneratively cooled rocket thrust chamber was developed and is based on the hot-gas wall temperature and the temperature difference between the hot-gas wall and the outside surface of the closeout. This method permits a quick estimate of the life of a thrust chamber when design changes or test-cycle variations are considered. Strain range and life are presented graphically as functions of these temperature parameters for a typical high-performance rocket thrust chamber with a half-hard zirconium-copper liner and an electroformed nickel closeout.

Analysis method utilizes graph-theoretic approach for evaluating computation cost and makes logical distinction between linear graph of a computation and linear graph of a program. Graphical determination of atmospheric pressure from rocketsonde temperature measurements

Equations relating the critical temperature and ion current density for surface ionization of cesium on tungsten are derived for the cases of zero and finite electric fields at the ion-emitting surface. These equations are used to obtain a series of graphs that can be used to solve many problems relating to ion-rocket theoretical performance. The effect of operation at less than space-charge-limited current density and the effect of nonuniform propellant flux onto the ion-emitting surface are also treated.
