Chapter XVI of the book "American Negro Slavery: A Survey of the Supply, Employment and Control of Negro Labor As Determined by the Plantation Regime," by Ulrich Bonnell Phillips is presented. It explores the life of African slaves and Americans in plantations in British colonies in the U.S. It relates that the standard community is composed of a white household in the midst of many Black families. It claims that the lives of whites and blacks were segregated and intertwined.
