The International Hearing Protector Fit-Testing Symposium (IHPFTS) occurred August 18-19, 2023 in Dallas, TX. It was the first gathering of an international audience where fit testing end users, occupational health professionals, audiologists, safety professionals, industrial hygienists, researchers, policymakers, and product manufacturers met to discuss the state of the science and pathways forward for hearing protector fit testing (HPFT) in occupational settings. Specifically, the goal of the IHPFTS was to advance the evidence base regarding the role of HPFT in an effective hearing loss prevention program. This goal was addressed over the span of a two-day agenda that included three keynote speakers, twenty-one podium presentations, seven poster sessions, and two working lunches. The information provided in this paper discusses the topics presented by the keynote speakers, and the submitted abstracts for both the podium and poster presentations. Optimum reservoir recovery and profitability results from guidance by an effective reservoir management plan. Success in developing the most appropriate reservoir management plan requires knowledge and considerations of (1) the reservoir system, including rocks, fluids, and rock-fluid interactions, as well as wellbores and associated equipment and surface facilities; (2) the technologies available to describe, analyze, and exploit the reservoir; and (3) the business environment under which the plan will be developed and implemented. Reservoir management plans de-optimize with time as technology and the business environment change or as new reservoir information becomes available. Reservoir characterization is essential for planning appropriately scaled reservoir management plans. Nowadays in the oil industry the companies are implementing sound of reservoir management techniques through cooperative research and development projects. Good estimates in a field development plan give a solid foundation for decision in all phases of the petroleum activity. At the first meeting of the first International Reservoir Characterization, in Dallas, 1985, the attendees chose the following definition of reservoir characterization: “Reservoir characterization is a quantitatively assigning reservoir properties, recognizing geologic information and uncertainties in spatial variabilityˮ. Traditionally, its goal has been to transfer quantitative information on reservoir property distribution with enough detail and accuracy to a numerical simulator so that the fluidflow simulation predictions would match reservoir performance. Through simulation, an appropriately detailed and accurate model of reservoir property distribution enables the operator to avoid the deleterious effects of heterogeneities and exploit them the best economic advantage. To the extent that information supplied to the simulator is incomplete, inaccurate, or at an inappropriate scale, the ability to predict reservoir performance and maximize economic returns is lessened. This study of gay enclaves seeks to answer two questions: First, can neighborhoods in the southern United States city of Dallas constitute an urban gay ghetto according to the previous models of enclaves? Second, is this paradigm of urban enclave existence useful in understanding the current LGBT communities that exist within urban spaces? This project uses 2000 Census data of same-sex unmarried partner households, document analysis of gay and lesbian newspapers, and field study as evidence to support the existence of a gay ghetto (or enclave) in Dallas, Texas. Although the paradigm of an urban gay ghetto as used by Levine (1979) is useful for sociologists to understand whether or not a gay community exists, the model has a number of shortfalls that are addressed in the paper, including the presentation of "gay" as a unified quasi-ethnic identity that is mainstreamed to deny differences amongst LGBT people based upon race, class, and gender. The article offers information about the paper to be discussed at North American Association of Christians in Social Work Convention 2007 in Dallas, Texas concerning the church planting in a government funded social services program. The purpose of the paper is to offer an assessment of the advisability of planting a church out of a federally funded social services program. The said paper will articulate the importance of the church and church planting among the urban poor.

This paper presents preliminary findings from our ongoing research on the Dallas walkouts in March of 2006. Drawing on journalistic accounts of the events of March 27-28 and data from in depth interviews with students involved in the protests, we outline four major themes highlighted by the student walkouts protesting legislation to criminalize undocumented immigrants and their supporters: the role of rapid communication mediated by social networking software, the spontaneity of the events, and the stirring emotions that attended the walkouts and lingered long after the events. This research paper focuses on the application of Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies and spatial regressive modeling techniques, analyzing data at a variety of different geographic aggregations, to examine the impact of the Modifiable Areal Unit Problems (MAUP) (Openshaw and Taylor, 1979) impact on the results of criminological research. In this paper, we extend the work of Miethe and colleagues both conceptually and methodologically. Our goals have been to think critically about how GIS can be used in crime research, to stretch the GIS technology and revise the methodologies we currently use in crime analysis. We develop a series of unique contextual level data set incorporating information from crime location and census data in Dallas, TX. We demonstrate the need for caution when assuming pure "value added" through GIS data integration. Rather, we provide an application that explicitly incorporates spatial structure, while examining the MAUPs impact on a variety of commonly used independent variables in the criminological literature. Based on in-depth interviews and fieldwork in Dallas, Texas, this article examines decisions about home language in Latino families. Parents weigh the importance of both family-specific contexts such as migration strategies and parental language ability as well as the role of Spanish in the labor market and cultural milieu of the community when determining home language. Many historical studies on elites have asked about change over time, particularly in regards to new sources of wealth. Data and limitations have led researchers to assume that families making money from a new industry are newly socially elite, but the validity of this assumption is an empirical question. Dallas from 1925-42 is well-suited to help answer it because the city in that time period featured (a) a new potential source of considerable wealth in the 1930 East Texas oil boom, (b) the oldest, most entrenched high society in the region, (c) a pervasive "new money vs. old money" schema, and (d) clear measures of sociopolitical power in the form of social registers and key organizational memberships. Using multiple measures of social importance and family entrenchment, I find no systematic differences within the social elite between oilmen and men working in other industries, suggesting that oil families on the whole may have been no "newer" than other socially elite families in oil boom Dallas.
