The curriculum of the study in pharmacy is changing rapidly. In this article the authors describe their expectations of the future role of pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists in production and quality control of drug products. These expectations are the basis of the new curricula, which intend to prepare students for an adequate exertion of their future profession. To meet the different demands arising from the varying professional practices, a more differentiated choice of study programmes is offered. In the future pharmacists will be trained on different vocational profiles. Furthermore a new study in pharmaceutical sciences will be started and the number of possible study routes will be increased.
