Our master thesis is based on a case study in Siemens Ballerup. In the autumn of 2013 Siemens Ballerup was facing major organizational change and had to change their office environment to a new concept called: Siemens Office Concept. Our master thesis is based on four different theoretical areas: Organization development, culture, process of change and the creation of an innovative work environment. In the first part of the master thesis our theoretical foundation is based on Marry Jo Hatch and Daft et al. In this part we study how organizations should develop and adapt to the surrounding community. Next, we examine the cultural change in Siemens and how the cultures in Siemens affect the organizational change. The theoretical foundation of this consists of Majken Schultz and Edgar H. Schein. In continuation hereof, we examine how the process of change in Siemens has evolved. C. Otto Scharmers Theory U forms the basis of this part of the study. We conclude by summarizing our studies in a discussion where we reflect on how Siemens can maintain and develop an innovative environment. The discussion is based on Lotte Darsø and Ralph Stacey’s theoretical view on innovation.
