The aim of this study was to create valid Czech version of the most commonly used handedness questionairre: the Edinburgh handedness inventory (EHI). The formulations of particular items were changed during the translation procedure (modified direct translation) in order to unify the interpretation of the items. Structural equation modeling revealed a redundancy (writing), or insufficient accuracy (knife, broom, box opening) of some items in the EHI. Czech version of the EHI containing 6 items was created by exclusion of these problematic items. Results suggest that it is not necessary to weight particular items to calculate the laterality quotient (compozite score). Reliability measured as the McDonald's omega for the unidimensional Czech version of the EHI was 0,95 [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
