We present the dynamics of biomass production values of macromycetes in relation to the different age of spruce monocultures on former agricultural land (Western Carpathians). Altogether 145 macromycetes were evaluated in fresh weight biomass of sporocarps (kg.ha
-1 ). The highest production ratios of sporocarp biomass were obtained at the permanent research plot (PRP) C – 54-year-old stand (1,732.65 kg.ha-1 ) and lowest biomass at PRP B – 34-year-old stand (1,028.24). The ectomycorrhizal macromycetes (EM) was the highest production ecotrophical group, which produced 2,700.86 kg.ha-1 of sporocarp biomass with high values in 24-year forest growth. The species Lactarius rufus (906.14 kg. ha-1 ) had the highest biomass production as well as saprotrophs Rhodocollybia butyracea (174.86) and wood-inhabiting species Hypholoma fasciculare (506.38). The effect of the season showed to be statistically significant for the production of EM species (F = 6.242, p < 0.01). Wood-inhabiting species were influenced by age of stands (F = 5.814, p < 0.001). The seasons, age of stands as well as their interaction were statistically insignificant for terrestrial macromycetes (TS). The condition for optimum production of EM and TS macromycetes was average night temperature 8.2–10 ºC, where the relationship of temperature is dependent on 42.1%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

This diploma thesis focuses on the effect of light on the growth and content of miliacin in millet panicum (Panicum milliaceum L.). A field trial on the ground of the Faculty of Agriculture and Technology at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice was set up with varieties Unikum, Kornberg and Hanácka Mana. Plant samples were taken at the time of clustering and maturity, and the height and weight of individual parts were determined together with the content of miliacin. Next, a lab trial with Unikum variety was set up, when the seeds were germinated for 11 days under the different wavelengths of colored spectrum of visible light and then the germination rate, the length and weight of the obtained sprouts were determined, and the analysis of the miliacin content was performed. The amount of miliacin in a dry matter was determined using gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry.

This thesis deals with the issue of global decline in insect populations. Insects are one of the most numerous and diversified groups of animals in the world. This community plays irreplaceable roles in nature, contributing to the proper functioning of the entire ecosystem. However, fairly compelling evidence has now begun to emerge of long-term insect declines around the world. These declines are caused by many causes and factors that contribute to varying degrees of decline in the abundance and diversity of insect populations, and are often interrelated. The aim of this thesis is therefore to provide an overview of this global problem, and in particular its main causes. The topic has been elaborated through the study of scientific literature and subsequent presentation of the impact of individual factors on specific insect species or groups. It was found that the main reasons for the decline of insect populations are the loss of natural habitats, pollution, the spread of invasive species and pathogens, climate crisis and light pollution. The service life of the lower parts of the membrane walls is influenced by the operating parameters and design of the boilers, but above all, by the fuel used. During the combustion of wood chips, straw, corn, and solid alternative fuels, created during the recycling of mostly plas- tic packaging, completely different chemical conditions occur, and thus the interaction of vari- ously aggressive corrodents with the surface of the membrane walls. With the regular use of unalloyed or low-alloyed steels, wall losses in the order of mm/year can occur due to a combination of corrosion attack and abrasive wear. In the paper, microstruc- tural and microchemical analyzes of the described damage are documented, the main causes are determined, and possible methods of protection are discussed.

V tomto článku bylo v laboratorních podmínkách v modelové atmosféře simulující spaliny z biomasy obsahující chlor a další prvky a pod modelovou úsadou zkoušeno několik různých povlaků na bázi niklu. Kromě různých typů niklových nástřiků byly zvoleny i různé technologie nanášení – elektrický oblouk, plazma, HVOF. In this paper, several different nickel-based coatings were tested under laboratory conditions in a model atmosphere simulating biomass flue gas containing chlorine and other elements and under a model deposit. In addition to different types of nickel coatings, different deposition technologies - electric arc, plasma, HVOF - were chosen. The base material was 16Mo3 ferritic steel and AISI 310 austenitic steel. The total exposure time in laboratory conditions was 2000 hours. Several techniques – gravimetric analysis, light metallography and WDS microanalysis – were used to compare the corrosion and structural stability of the tested injections/coatings at 550 °C. Some of the tested coatings showed significantly lower corrosion damage than the base material and could be a good option for retrofitting coal to biomass boilers.

This thesis focuses on the pupil's knowledge about photosynthesis, biomass, the teacher's attitude to teaching these issues including the use of digital educational resources. The focal point of this thesis is a questionnaire survey among primary school teachers and students, which examines the level of knowledge and personal attitudes of both groups of respondents to teaching this topic and its digitization. 154 pupils and 10 teachers from 5 different primary schools were involved in the survey. An analysis of a number of textbooks published by Fraus was also included. The results confirmed that misconceptions, which have already been described in the past, remain among the students. These include, for example: "The plant breathes when it is not performing photosynthesis. The main reason why plants perform photosynthesis is oxygen production. The plant breathes carbon dioxide and exhales oxygen." The literature and the results of this study suggest that using modern aids in science classes and in self-study could be a solution to dealing with misconceptions.

Hemp is an ancient crop that has a wide range of uses compared to commonly grown crops. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of variety and cultivation system on the yield of total biomass, amount of flowers, leaves, achenes and plant waste, the thousand achene weight, the proportion of size fractions of achenes, the proportion of shelled aschenes and husks and the yield of oil. Hemp cultivation can be recommended for organic farming, because hemp plants had significantly the higher weight of female plants and the yield of total biomass in green and dry matter in t/ha both at flowering and at the end of vegetation perod. They also had the higher production of inflorescences and leaves, and the production of achenes. The cultivation systems are comparable in the proportion of coating layers of achenes and the thousand achene weight. The conventional system was significantly better in the proportion of oil in the achenes and the proportion of the size fraction of achenes above 3.5 mm. When comparing the varieties, a higher yield of biomass and achenes was achieved for the variety Santhica 70 from conventional production (Meclov), namely 57.3 t/ha and 1.5 t/ha. The yield of flowers and leaves was higher from organic production (Chlum) in the Fedora 17 variety, namely 3.08 /ha. The higher proportion of oil in hemp achenes was determined for the variety Santhica 70 from conventional production (Sušice) at 16.5%.

The aim of the study was to determine the total content of organic carbon in the soils planted by selected energy plants (Dactylis glomerata, Elymus elongatus subsp. Ponticus, Festuca arundinacea, Phleum pratense). The plant cultures were established on 16. 4. 2019 at the experimental field of the Faculty of agriculture, University of South Bohemia, České Budějovice. The organic carbon content was monitored regularly depending on the depth of sampling and fertilization of variants. The first sampling was carried out before the plant culture establishment. Further samples were taken every 2 months. All of the samples were taken from the depth of 0-10 cm and 10-20 cm by pedological sounding rod. Subsequently, the samples were adjusted for the analysis and examined with the SKALÁR instrument in the laboratory at the Department of Agroecosystems. During the measurement, a sharp increase of organic carbon in the sample taken in the spring of 2020 was observed. A higher content of organic carbon was observed in the samples taken from the depth of 0-10 cm, though, statistically not significant. It was further found, that fertilization influences the total content of organic carbon. The fertilized variants showed higher values than unfertilized. The highest amount of total organic carbon was recorded at the Phleum pretense variant. However, the differences between the plants were not statistically significant.

This Ph.D. thesis is focused on the new developed mobile upward-looking system, which allows to study with non-destructive method invertebrates and fish near the water surface. In the first part, we studied behaviour of a horizontal sound beam, using a standard target at a known depth. The second part, I compared the newly developed upward-looking system with fry trawl to possibly monitoring juvenile fish whether the recorded data correspond to reality. In the third part, we used two different frequencies to differentiate Chaoborus larvae from the smallest juvenile fish. In last part, I compared new system and a very used passive gillnets method. This work provides an initial step towards the improvement of study water surface layer.

The aim of this diploma thesis was to evaluate soil conservation technologies in the maize cultivation using cover crops. Biomass production was studied in selected cover crops. The influence of various tillage technologies and cover crops on the maize grain yield was monitored, and the number of maize plants in a row was evaluated. The exper-iment took place in 2018/2019 in Žabčice, at the school farm of Mendel University. Five types of cover crops were covered in the experiment: green peas, oats, mustard, phacelia and lucerne. Three options of tillage were studied: strip tillage, minimum tillage and no tillage. The oats showed the largest production of biomass. The largest production of maize grain was without using any cover crops, but some cover crops had almost the same grain production. Out of the cover crops, the best influence on the yield was by oats, otherwise the lowest influence on the yield was by lucerne. Maize achieved the highest yield after the minimum tillage technology.

Hemp is a significant oil and fibre crop that finds its use again, due to its almost 100% biodegradability, various use but also its specific features. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the influence of the variety on hemp production and possibilities of the hemp cultivation in organic farming in different ways of its use. Five varieties of hemp (Fortuna 75, Carmagnola, KC Zuzana, KC Virtus, Felina 32) cultivated in organic farming in the Velhartice area were used for evaluating the density and the health status of the stand, plant height and diameter, yield of fibre, hurds and total biomass. We can recommend growing hemp in organic farming because hemp achieved yields similar to average production from the conventional farming system there. We can recommend KC Virtus and Felina 32 variety, which reached a high yield of achenes and inflorescences for the combined production of biomass and achenes or biomass and inflorescences. The KC Virtus variety reached the highest fibre (2.8 t/ha) and hurds production (8.3 t/ha) too.

The "Zákolanský potok" takes part in European nature program Special Area of Conservation because of the presence of stone crayfish (Austropotamobius torentium), which is listed as threatened species. The area around brook is intensively agriculturally cultivated. Water from wastewater treatments plants is drained to the local brooks. The aim of the work was to describe diversity of macrozoobenthos on the brook called "Zákolanský potok". Further aim was to evaluate the ecological condition of the watercourse using biotic indexes. The samples of macrobenthos were taken from three profiles in five sampling periods. Profile 1 was control, profile 2 was under the wastewater treatments plants and the third profile was placed down the stream. Diversity, biomass, saprobic index, BMWP, and ASTP scores were evaluated for the community of macrozoobenthos. The saprobic index was evaluated to the beta-mezosaprobity value (2.0-2.4) in the first profile, the saprobic index on the second profile showed a relatively wide range from worse oligosaprobity to worse beta-mesosaprobity (1.2-2.4). On the third profile, the saprobic index ranged from better beta-mesosaprobity to better alpha-mesosaprobity (1.6-2.6). The BMWP and ASPT scores in all profiles refer to medium to low quality aquatic environments. The diversity of the community gained the best values on the 3rd profile, here was found with one more taxon than on the 1st profile. With increasing organic load, diversity decreased on the 2nd profile, although a more sensitive species was found here.

Renewable energy sources are currently at their maximum capacity, but this does not mean that they are slowing down in growing. The first part of the thesis is focused on the issue of renewable resources in the countryside at a general level. The second part is focused specially on the territory of Jablunkov and the possibility of using individual sources of renewable energy in this area. Three of the most suitable sources have been chosen for practical realization options, including economic calculations, these include both fixed costs and operational costs. Calculations were made using the so-called „Kotlíková kalkulačka“, the Photovoltaic Geographical Information System and Microsoft Office. Part of the thesis is also an assessment of the ecological and social aspects of renewable resources, including their impact on the use of the territory itself and the impact on the landscape. The results clearly show up the benefits of new technologies in both economic and environmental terms, and provide space for further use of renewable energy sources, whether in rural areas or in cities. Economically, the purchase of a heat pump is the best choice, the possibility of building new jobs is mainly provided by using of biomass. The thesis should serve as support for an even greater use of renewable energy, or in the decision making progress in choosing the most suitable alternative of renewable energy source for a family house.

This diploma thesis on the topic "Cultivation of selected plant species for energy use" in the first chapters of the theoretical part deals with Czech and world energy. The chapters on renewable energy sources and the possibilities of using biomass for plants for energy purposes follow. The research also deals with grasslands as alternative energy sources with a focus on direct burning. The last chapters of the research are focused on the cultivation of selected energy crops, such as the Elymus elongatus grass (subspecies Ponticus, Szarvasi-1) and Miscanthus × giganteus. The practical part describes the establishment, nursing and harvesting of small-scale experiments of Szarvasi-1 grass and Miscanthus × giganteus grass varieties, which were cultivated on the premises of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice and were grown as energy crops for direct incineration. Experiments with the Szarvas-1 cultivation took place in three types of farming. The first variation was the so-called "extensive" form where the plants were not fertilized with any fertilizer. The second form of farming was the "intensive" variant, in which the fertilizer was fertilized with mineral fertilizers. The last variant labeled "digestate" was fertilized with organic fertilizer. Maloparcelian experiments with Miscanthus × giganteus were carried out only in one variation of cultivation than Szarvasi-1, "intensive". For both varieties of energy crops harvested in spring 2013 and for all cultivation variants, the yield potentials from the last five years of vegetation of these cultures were evaluated after a six-year vegetation period. The evaluated parameters were in particular the yields of fresh matter and dry matter in t ha-1, but also the average solids content in %. These results were recorded and compared with specialist literature. The results of the work show that Miscanthus × giganteus yields on average higher yields than Szarvasi-1, which surprisingly best responds to organic fertilizer fertilization.

This master´s thesis deals with various fundamental principles of utilization of waste biomass in heating industry. It describes and focuses on the usage of wood waste from logging to produce energy. Analysing real operational data of a selected heating-plant, company Teplárny Brno, a. s., it performs an evaluation of principal parameters waste wood fired heating plant. Based on analysis, there are proposed two variants of the heating plant (without the production of electric energy) and a combined heat and power source (with electricity production) for the Brno heat distribution in the text. The proposed fuel for both sources is the waste biomass, the same the installed heat capacity at the level of 40 MW by both sources. There is also projected a technological equipment in relation to the connection to the existing heat distribution system. The final evaluation is based on a mutual comparison of proposed sources and their comparison with a conventional natural gas fired central heat plant.
