BOARD OF DIRECTORS AS THE STATUTORY BODY OF A BANK Abstract This thesis focuses on the board of directors as the statutory body of a bank, and provides a comprehensive view on the Czech, EU and selected foreign legal regulation of this area, with an emphasis on the specifics of the legal regulation of a bank's board of directors and the legal requirements imposed on its members, in comparison with the legal regulation of the boards of directors of other, "regular" Czech joint stock companies, i.e. joint stock companies not subjected to banking regulation and supervision of the Czech National Bank. The first chapter contains an overview of the relevant legal regulations and other sources - its aim is to provide an overview of the sources referred to herein together with a brief analysis of the binding nature of selected sources so that the reader gets an opportunity to better orientate themselves in the complicated area of banking regulation. The main aim of thisbachelor thesis is an analysis of offers of short-term and long-term deposits of selected financial institutions operating in the market in the Czech Republic and their subsequent comparison.The thesis consists of two parts, theoretical and practical.The theoretical part describes and characterizes financial institutions, differences between short-term and long-term deposits, basic terms related to the term deposits and calculations important to determine the revenues. Furthermore, the theoretical part deals with mapping of offers of term deposits of individual financial institutions in the market in the Czech Republic.The practical part is focused on the comparison of revenues from deposits of selected financial institutions in the Czech Republic.The result is a recommendation of the best term deposit in accordance with given requirements.

Dne 20. července 2021 Evropská komise představila ambiciózní balíček legislativních návrhů na posílení pravidel EU pro boj proti praní špinavých peněz a financování terorismu (AML/CFT). Součástí balíčku je nejen návrh na vytvoření nového orgánu EU pro boj proti praní špinavých peněz, ale především přijetí nové právní úpravy, která má současně obsahovat přímo použitelná pravidla, a to i v oblastech hloubkové kontroly klienta a skutečného vlastnictví. Součástí legislativního balíčku je současně návrh nové (šesté) směrnice, která nahradí dosavadní směrnici 2015/849/EU. Nově navrhovaná směrnice předkládá nové mechanismy, které mají členské státy zavést za účelem předcházení využívání finančního systému k praní peněz nebo financování terorismu. Mechanismům navrhované směrnice a jejich vlivu na bankovní obchody je věnován následující článek. On 20 July 2021, the European Commission presented an ambitious package of legislative proposals to strengthen the EU‘s anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) rules. The package includes not only a proposal for the creation of a new EU anti-money laundering body, but above all the adoption of new legislation, which should simultaneously contain directly applicable rules, including in the areas of client due diligence and beneficial ownership. The legislative package also includes a proposal for a new (sixth) directive, which will replace the previous directive 2015/849/ EU. The newly proposed directive presents new mechanisms for Member States to put in place to prevent the use of the financial system for money laundering or terrorist financing. The following article is devoted to the mechanisms of the proposed directive and their influence on banking transactions.

The bachelor thesis focuses on the design and implementation of a virtual ATM. The concept comes from a historical machine called Sensorama, one of the oldest virtual reality systems. It is used to mediate common banking operations and functions of a physical ATM through virtual reality. The work analyzes the existing solution of the client's relationship with the bank on the basis of which it implements a virtual environment. Specifically a functional ATM and an interactive bank branch. Everything happens remotely via the Neos metaversion interface. The concept takes full advantage of the interactive features of virtual reality, helping the user to better understand each banking process. This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of banks with focus on electronic banking. The thesis has two part - theoretical and practical one. The theoretical part of this thesis characterizes the banking system in the Czech Republic, defines the term bank, characterizes its functions and selected banking products and also briefly describes the history of banks and money. Attention is being paid especially to the means of electronic communication between banks and their clients. The thesis then defines the term electronic banking, characterizes different means of electronic banking (cards, phone banking, homebanking, internetbanking and smartbanking), shortly describes their history, their advantages, the risks resulting from this type of communication and possible solutions for preventing these risks. In the theoretical part, I used mainly the descriptive method and the method of analysis. This bachelor thesis deals with a language humour and its usage in advertising. The theoretical part first defines humour, distinguishes two basic types, i.e. language and content-based humour, and summarizes the theoretical knowledge of the influence of humour on key indicators of advertising effectiveness. Then it concentrates on Czech language and its elements that allow advertisers to create and modify commercial messages so that the advertising achieves desired goals. Specific elements of language humour are then presented on the examples of Czech advertisements, which forms a prelude to the research itself. The practical part of the work is a research of the usage of language humour in advertising carried out by the form of descriptive analysis. Commercials in the banking sector were chosen as a research sample. For the purposes of the research, ten categories of language comic elements were created, into which the individual elements were divided and examined. Research shows that the spectrum of language comic elements is wide, however, most of the commercials fall into the category of wordplay based on the double meaning of words. This bachelor thesis deals with the area of mortgage loans. These are one of the possibilities how to obtain your own housing nowadays. Based on the available sources, the basic knowledge concerning the issue of mortgage loans, including the development of mortgage banking in our territory, is described. The thesis also includes an analysis of the current situation in the mortgage market. The aim of the thesis is to describe the currently offered variants of mortgage loans for selected banking houses. Based on the market share, the five largest banks in the mortgage market were chosen. Specifically, it concerns Hypoteční banka, Česká spořitelna, Komerční banka, Raiffeisenbank and UniCredit Bank. The main goal of the thesis is to choose the most advantageous solution in the form of a mortgage loan according to the specific requirements of fictitious applicants based on the comparison of individual offers of the mentioned banks. This bachelor thesis deals with the Czech mortgage market. The main aim of the practical part is to introduce the audience to the issue of mortgage loans and their role within the bank products. It analyses all-important attributes and descriptions of mortgages. The paper then occupies with mortgage loans in the Czech Republic, it briefly describes its development and current state, including today's requirements for obtaining mortgage loans and current mortgage providers on the Czech market. In the theoretical part, I use primarily analyzing and descriptive methods, the main source of information was Czech financial literature. In the second, practical part, the paper deals mainly with some selected mortgage loan providers and their offers. Firstly, I mention some general recommendations and secondly, concrete examples, which I use to compare the offers of each bank. The aim of the practical part is particularly comparison and evaluation of each offer, the method I use is mainly comparison. This master's thesis explores how job automation has influenced a selected bank branch workplace and what role gender plays in this process. The thesis is based on a case study focused on a team from one anonymized Czech branch of an international bank where robots are being introduced into the work process. Between November 2018 and February 2019, semi-structured interviews were conducted with six members of this team and obtained data were subjected to an analysis, the results of which are presented in this thesis. Interview questions revolved around changes in the workplace and the evaluation of these changes by the employees. The thesis therefore examines, among other things, whether robots have had any impact on working hours or workplace interpersonal relationships, what control tools narrators have had to monitor the work process, how robots have highlighted existing gender inequalities in the workplace and what issues have arisen after their implementation. The case study has pointed out the importance of further, closer inspection of robot implementation cases, each of which may be affected by a number of specific elements. The main aim of the diploma thesis is to perform a financial analysis of Komerční banka, a. s. in sufficient time, to find out its capital adequacy and, in case of deficiencies, to propose measures that would lead to improvement of the situation. To meet this objective, horizontal and vertical balance sheet items, profit and loss account were prepared. In conclusion, the financial situation of the bank was assessed on the basis of selected ratio indicators. The results of all partial analyzes were correlated with the results of three competing banks and the entire banking sector for higher relevance.

The name of this bachelor thesis is Bank Products and Services as Perceived by Students of University of South Bohemia. It deals with financial product in terms of marketing mix in field of financial services. In the first part are product's features and life cycle described The focus is on financial products, which are provided to students. This viva focuses on the issue of loan agreements, from the viewpoint of the bank as the loan creditor. The aim of this thesis was to analyze student bank accounts offered by selected banking institutions in Czech Republic. This analysis and following evaluation was based on study of offered products as well as on a questionnaire survey which was focused on interest about student bank accounts, satisfaction, use of banking services and other products. This thesis consists of two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the issue of banking, describes student bank accounts. The practical part contains comparison of selected bank accounts, evaluation of the questionaire and evaluation of established hypotheses. This thesis could help to potencial clients with the choice of the bank account. However, it is not easy to recommend one product.

The diploma thesis deals with the profitability of the banking sector in the Czech Republic and Slovakia in the period 2006-2016. The part of the thesis is also to define and assess the determinants of profitability. The theoretical part focuses on summary of specialized studies dealing with the given issue. Furthermore, the theoretical part focuses on description of the structure of the Czech and Slovak banking sector, including their similar and different features, and the legal framework. There is also examined the development of banking sectors from the macroeconomic perspective. The practical part analyses the development of ROAA and ROAE in both banking sectors. Development is also assessed in the context of the global financial crisis. There is also identified microeconomic and macroeconomic factors influencing the profitability of banks in the Czech and Slovak sectors are identified through regression analysis. The profitability of the banking sector is expressed by indicator ROAE. The thesis also includes a comparison of the obtained results and their comparison with other studies.

1 Economic Impact of Central Banking Abstract Aim of the following work is to analyse economic impact of central banking, and it is primarily reaction to loose monetary policies adopted after subprime crisis by most of world's central institutions. In first part, I am focusing on presentation of some historical facts related to formation of central banking and summarizing institutional development of banks in Czech Republic, United States and Japan. Second part is focusing on explanation of theoretical basis on which following critic of central banking is built upon. It is mainly explanation of subjective value theory, time preferences and interest that is inevitable result of existence of production structure. The topic of my Diploma Thesis is Digital communication of banks with a selected customer segment. The target group is created by people aged 18 to 30. The goal of the thesis is to find out the preferences of young people how their banks should communicate with them through digital technologies. To find out the preferences, I will use published studies and my own survey. In response to the findings, I will try to recommend the right digital communication with young generation. The theoretical part of this thesis is devoted to topics such as communication and customer. This part will concentrate on on-line communication and social networks. The practical part will focus on current digital communicaton of banks, it will present the results of my survey and recommendation for the banks for the future.

Kopecká, M. Peer-to-peer loans and their providers in Czech Republic. Bachelor thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2017 The bachelor thesis focuses on peer-to-peer loans and their providers in the Czech Republic. The thesis assesses peer-to-peer loans from the point of view of a representative borrower based on three selected indicators, such as interest rate, annual percentage rate and increase coefficient. The thesis further examines the question, whether system of peer-to-peer lending is more advantageous than traditional banking institutions for the borrower. The output of the thesis is finding the most advantageous peer-to-peer loans provider for a given applicant and its subsequent comparison with a selected banking institution. Finally, general recommendations are made for applicants to help them choose the appropriate consumer loans provider.

This diploma thesis deals with the regulation of the activities of banks, which has already been relatively extensive but as a result of the most recent financial crisis, it has been extended by new rules and requirements. The aim of this thesis is to clarify the essence of the basic obligations of the banks related to the entry into the banking sector and to working in the sector, and last but not least to leaving the sector and to the termination of the banking activity. The letter of credit contract and the collection contract The diploma thesis deals with the topic of the Direct Debit Contract and the Letter of Credit. A Letter of Credit is a special payment instrument issued as a rule by a bank that the principal has undertaken to pay to the person in whose interest the Letter of Credit is open and designated as the authorized amount up to the amount agreed. The Direct Debit is the commitment of the collector of receivables to obtain from the third party a receipt of a sum of money or other Direct Debit. Current legislation, contained in the Civil Code, took over the legal regulation of the Letter of Credit and the Direct Debit from the Commercial Code without any major changes. Both institutes show a number of identical and different elements. From a practical point of view, it is not possible to look for serious application problems in the Letter of Credit or Direct Debit. This bachelor thesis is focused on historical development and modern approach of banking regulation and supervision in Great Britain. Provision of banking services plays a key role in this country. It deals primarily with acts that have been adopted throughout the existence of banking in this area and which are concerned with the adjustment of the regulatory framework of this industry. Significant importance in this work was given to appropriate steps that were taken by the regulator during the financial crisis and subsequent reforms to ensure the stability of the British banking system. The conclusion is devoted to the current method of regulation and supervision of the banking sector.

This bachelor thesis deals with the usage of negative interest rates as a part of the monetary policy of central banks. The theoretical analysis/part describes banking risks and further deals with the risk measurement and risk management, the interest rates in central banking, the interbank rates and the PRIBOR rate quotation. This diploma thesis deals with model of project realization within the bank. It is divided into theoretical and practical parts which complement each other. The first part, the theoretical one, is focused on defining theoretical assumptions about the business process', modelling, project and key performance indicators. The practical part includes the determination of project realization course, its comparison with established standards and subsequently designs of business process model. This diploma thesis deals with the analysis of current accounts on the Czech banking market. Its goal is to find the most appropriate accounts for different types of clients. The work is divided into three parts. The theoretical part describes the problem of multicriteria decision making, basic concepts and principles, methods for calculating weight of the criteria and individual methods of multicriterial evaluation of alternatives. The second part is devoted to the description of the currently offered current accounts for individuals and a description of the selected criteria according to which the individual alternatives are evaluated. The last computational part tries to find the most appropriate accounts for those clients. Weights are calculated using the scoring method and DEMATEL method. Subsequently, the best accounts are selected by WSA, TOPSIS, ELECTRE III and MAPPAC. The calculations are made by using MS Excel add-in application Sanna.

The bachelor thesis focuses primarily on the analysis of revenue development of Česká spořitelna. Then it examines whether this revenue development affected the parent company Erste Group. The introductory section defines the main revenue categories. Within these categories the main factors that influenced their development within Česká spořitelna are analyzed. Consequently, the development and main factors affecting these categories are compared with the development of the Erste Group. The thesis captures the development of revenues between 2012 and 2016.

Hrbacek, F. The role of bank charges in bank economy. Bachelor thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2016. This bachelor thesis issue with charges policy of domestic and foreign bank from the same banking group. As first assess the charges policy of the Czech republic, then the share of selected domestic bank in total income from fees and commis-sions of the Czech banking sector. Next part of the bachelor thesis deals with the comparison of banks charges selected bank within the same banking group. Value of fees is listed both in absolute expression and relative expression in dependence on the average gross wage of the country. The results from comparison are discussed and made a draft recommendation against high charges of domestic banks.

Článek ukazuje proces a výsledky pokročilé kontextové analýzy těchto nestrukturovaných dat vybraných veřejných bankovních stránek na sociální síti Facebook. Analýza zákaznických názorů, problémů a přání může hrát významnou roli pro pozici těchto společností na trhu a jejich orientaci na zákazníky. Využity byly metody shlukování a sentiment analýz, výsledky odrážejí stav chování zákazníků a bank na této síti. Článek zdůrazňuje důležitost problematiky Word of Mouth a jeho analýz informačními technologiemi. Zároveň diskutuje, jak analýza kontextu může přenést marketing na další úroveň identifikace zákazníkova chování a jeho vztahu ke společnosti.

I deal with specific problems in the financial analysis for the banking sector. I use these indicators bank bank liquidity, bank profitability, capital adequacy, productivity, quality of bank assets, capital adequacy. I found calculate solvency capital adequacy using CSOB and by calculating, I found that I have been over 8%, and therefore CSOB solvent.

The thesis focuses on the competition and concentration of the Czech banking market, using the Competitive Intelligence tools to gain and maintain the competitive advantage. Assessment of the domestic banking market concentration is based on the results of indicators, such as the concentration ratio and Herfindahl Hirschman Index. On the basis of the degree of the competition among the subjects in this segment the attention is given to the process of the Competitive Intelligence which, if implemented properly in the company structure, ensures the bank to gain and maintain the competitive advantage. Possible areas of interest are also mentioned, systematic monitoring of these areas enables the bank to take timely actions responding to changes in the competitor strategy and leading to improve relationships with clients.

This bachelor thesis is dedicated to the analysis of changes in bank charges in three selected banks from 2006 to 2015. On account of wide range of bank charges, only charges for a usual bank client who uses only some bank services are selected. His profile was constructed by Ing. Petr Nacher, the owner of the server www.bankovnipoplatky.com, and is based on data selected from Czech banks. The aim of this thesis is to record the development of bank charges and changes in current account´offer of selected banks in the term before and after economic crisis and under pressure from the bank clients. To meet a target the data about bank chargers were collected from the lists of tariffs and subsequently recorded to the tables. The changes in bank chargers and banks offers of current accounts are evaluated in this thesis. The outcome of the analysis shows that the banks are very affected by the competitive environment and that is why the method of pricing services regarding typical bank client is (analogous. The bank´s sector wasn´t very concerned by the economic crisis so the results don´t indicate any significant changes before and after the period of this crisis. It was evaluated that bank charges increase but costs of typical client don´t show this tendency because of the offer of a pack of bank services. Some possible recommendations for a typical bank client how to save on chargers are suggested at the end of the thesis. The trends used by banks to lure a larger amount of clients are also evaluated.

in English - Diploma thesis - Filip Košťál The topic of this thesis is "Legal Regulation of Banking Activities". Firstly, the thesis describes reasons and theoretical basis for regulation of banks. Next, the thesis focuses on three levels of regulation of banking, i.e., regulation within the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, which prepares recommendations, which, however, are mostly followed by regulatory activities at the European Union level. Last but not least, the thesis also focuses on Czech legislation, which is, together with directly applicable regulations of the European Union binding for banks carrying out activities in the Czech Republic. The subject matter of this thesis is to approach prudential requirements for banking activities in the Czech Republic. Taking into account the importance of the banking sector in the economy of each country, this area is widely regulated by directly applicable European legislation, for example by new regulation (EU) No. 757/2013 of the European parliament and of the Council of 26 June 2013 on prudential requirements for credit institutions and investment firms. Diploma thesis focus on topic about marketing communication chosen bank. Aim of this thesis is analyze current marketing communication of Waldviertler Sparkasse Bank AG and propose recommendation. Structure of this thesis is three parts, theoretical, practical and final recommendations. First part is focused on marketing theory and communication mix of services. First chapter of practical part contained presentation of chosen bank and analyses current marketing activities. Bank was compared with other competing bank subjects with positioning map, semantic differential and my own observation. For purpose of thesis were used two survey, first survey compared chosen bank institutions and second was about bank marketing. At the end was evaluated current communication of Waldviertler Sparkasse Bank AG and recommendation how improve communication for more effectiveness.

At the beginning of the thesis I am focused on gathering information on mortgage loans in the current financial market. At the beginning of the chapter on mortgage credit, I will discuss dividing the mortgage loans. I draw up a detailed procedure that has everything a client to do to get a loan, what are the procedures in banks and what banks need to know information about the client. The next chapter will bring information on building savings and conditions, which the client must satisfy in order to get a loan from the savings. Also characteristic of this product. In the last chapter of the theoretical part of the introductory acquainted readers with investments in mutual funds and bring their individual characteristics and procedures for negotiation. In the practical part will deal has particular offering selected companies, which will be compared using the methods of multi-criteria decision. The work is divided on the analysis of mortgage loans, building savings and investment products. Information from these analyzes will also be used for application to a specific customer with specific requirements for housing. From the client I find out any information about his wishes and requirements for their future with regards to housing. The client chooses the aspects that are most important for him and the order in which they should be respected. It is for this reason that it is often not important final amount that the client pays for the loan, but for him the current situation in life more important monthly installment. Finally, the client selected the optimal variant, as can finance their own housing.

In my thesis I analyse the development of the banking system of Ukraine and the assessment of the concentration level of the banking system in conditions of crisis 2014-2015. The theoretical part is devoted to classification and causes of the banking crisis; also, it describes the historical aspects of crisis formation in Ukraine. The practical part is focused on the evaluation of the financial security level and macroeconomic situation in Ukraine. This part emphasises problems and the specifics of functioning of domestic banks. In addition, it considers the concentration level of the banking market. The analysis performed shows that the banking crisis is the result of accumulated macroeconomic imbalances of the past and present mistakes in the implementation of anti-crisis policy. Currently the efficient functioning of most domestic banks remains at insufficient level.

The thesis is focused on the analysis of legislation concerning loans and usage of contractual undertakings for the purpose of protection of the credit institution in the field of loans provided to corporations. Loan represent an economic tool that enables to provide a temporarily unused financial sources to another subject based on agreed terms and returnable character for the consideration in the form of interest payment. Corporation represent a form of legal person that is based on organized association of persons (physical and legal). The credit institution is exposed to a number of risks in relation to loans business. In the forefront it is exposed to the credit risk of non-payment of the debt by the debtor at maturity date mainly because of factual inability (deficient sources) to repay the debt. The credit institution is next to the credit risk exposed to other risks - liquidity risk, market risks (interest and exchange rate risk) and risk of changes of legislation (regulatory environment). Analysis of applicable contractual undertakings for the purpose of reduction of credit and other risks represent the main focus of the thesis. Money laundering and terrorist financing are serious problems that may not only disrupt the stability and reputation of financial institutions, but also affect a wide range of individuals. Therefore, this kind of conduct can be punished as a crime, including the active involvement of banks in money laundering. However, the diploma thesis focuses mainly on preventive measures introduced by the provisions of administrative law. The role of a well-functioning banking system is essential for the effective suppression of money laundering and financing of terrorism. Banks are the most frequent reporters of suspicious transactions and the bank services are used by wide range of persons. The role of banks is mainly determined by their designation as obliged entities by the Act no. 253/2008 Coll., on certain measures against the legalization of proceeds of crime and terrorist financing. The obligations arising out of this act are put into context with the Czech Banking Act and with regulations governing payments and implementation of international sanctions, including directly applicable laws of the European Union. The aim of this bachelor thesis is mapping the market offer and legal conditions related to difficulties in repaying a loan. The theoretical parts explains the concepts of loan, credit, interest rate, annual percen-tage rate of charge and the distribution of loans. These explanations are followed by basic information about loan consolidation, regulation of the loan agreement and the credit agreement. The last part of the review of literature deals with insolvency law and possibilities of bankruptcy. The practical part begins with a comparison of the total household debt in the years 2007-2016, followed by further development of household debt in 2015 and the develo-pment of insolvency in the Czech Republic in the years 2008-2015. For analyzing the market offer, I selected products of Česká spořitelna, a.s., GE Money bank, a.s. and Sberbank CZ, a.s. For comparison I created three model situations that were calculated for the individual banks. In the conclusion of the bachelor thesis I evaluate the results of the model situations and select the most advantageous options for clients.

The goal of this work was to evaluate the order of student accounts in terms of advantegousness, which are offered by banks on the domestic banking market. Not only theoretically, but also using quantitative methods. Firstly, the current offer of students products on the domestic market was explored, then a survey among some students was made in order to determine which student accounts are the most favourite ones, most commonly used and why. By using methods multiple-criteria evaluation of alternatives clients can make an easier decision when choosing from a large number of specified criteria. Afterwards, an appropriate evaluation criteria were fixed and evaluated in terms of profitability of individual alternatives by using methods of multiple criteria evaluation. For all analysed students, the account called - U konto pro mladé from UniCredit Bank was clearly selected as the best one. On the contrary account FRESH from Česká spořitelna appeared to be the mist disadvantageous one. According to the questionnaire, this account is owned by the majority of young respondents.
