The topic of the bachelor thesis is a reflection of dreams in the creative expression of an artist in the context of the application art therapy procedures. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the charakteristics of dreams, the motif of dreams throughout the history of visual arts, and subsequently presents the work with dreams within the framework of an art therapy approach. The practical part is devoted to the anylysis of selected visual artifacts on the theme of Dreams or Last night I had a dream, with the aim of presenting the use of the interpretive potential of this theme in projective-interventional art therapy.

According to psychoanalysis and the depth psychology, folktales and dreams can be seen as modalities through which the unconscious manifests itself. Using the folktale ATU 510B The Donkey Skin, some theories of folktales are introduced in this paper. Although the emphasis is placed on the psychoanalytic theory of Géza Róheim, the paper’s approach is multidisciplinary. First, the folktale is presented through the theory of the myth as proposed by the anthropologist C. Lévi-Strauss. Then, the structure of the folktale is considered using the theory of the linguist J. V. Propp. Finally, the theory of the contemporary Israeli psychoanalyst Ravit Raufman is mobilised to capture the meaning of the folktale The Princess with the Golden Star on Her Forehead in relation to the folktale The Maiden in the Chest.

This diploma thesis Dream and dreaming in Art Education at Primary school is dedicated to common states of consciosness and their usage in art activities with pupils at Primary school. The diploma thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and project part. The teoretical part is dealing with a dream from the point of the view of psychology. By using professional sources we will try to explain meaning of our dreams and origins of this specific state of consciousness. We will introduce how the well-known psychologist worked with dreams and dreaming and how they tried to express that. We will define the different types of dreams we could encounter. The second chapter is dedicated to the dreams in the art. It deals with artwork of selected painters from the Czech Republic and foreign countries, who were inspired by dreams and dreaming and they decided to use this theme in their artwork. The next part is developing didactic view on the problematic of working with the given topic and ilustrate the direction and ways of working with the theme of dreams in the Art Education at Primary school. The project part intorduces six lessons of the art series "Dreams and dreaming", which reflect the work with different themes related to the dreams and dreamimg in art education.

The scope of this work will be a comparative analysis of selected texts of John Steinbeck and William Saroyan, two important American writers of the 20th century with focusing on the characteristics of main characters. Theoretical basis of the work will be based on a brief introduction of both authors and their work as well as on their approach to the literary-historical context. In this regard the work reminds the issue of naturalism, the question of determination and the mening of the American dream. The interpretation itself will focus on types of individual characters and their role in stories in relation with the theoretical background of the work.

The central theme of the bachelor thesis includes a treatise on pre-school children's dreams. The final work is divided into two basic parts, theoretical and practical. In the first theoretical part the thesis deals with the definition, function, types and psychological theories of dreams, children's dreams and nightmares. In addition, the work describes how to talk to children about dreams and how to help them overcome anxiety caused by traumatic dreams. The second practical part is made of the qualitative research mapping what kinds of dreams the preschool children have and what they think about the dreams. The survey was conducted in the form of semi-structured interviews. The research group was five children aged 4-5 years.

This thesis presents the psychological concept of dreams and fairy tales and the possible similarities existing between them. Its main source is a depth psychology, psychoanalysis particularly. The thesis is consisting of two parts. In the first part, the theories of dreams and fairy tales are described and the possibilities for their interpretations are given. Then the affinity between dreams and fairy tales is presented including the theory of the Hungarian psychoanalytic Géza Róheim and the Israeli psychologist Ravit Raufman. Róheim assumes that fairy tales represent a social transformation of individual dreams. The development of this idea is: the fairy tales are inducting dreams that would be dreamed, anyway. But they finish better now, with the victory for the child. Raufman applies the methods with which fairy tales have been studied on dreams and defines the affinities between them. In the other part, the similarities between dreams and fairy tales are checked using collected dreams of children aged from 6 to 15. The thesis focuses on the conceptual area of sleeping (including waking, dreaming etc.) based on the theories and methods of the cognitive-cultural approach to language. The first chapter deals with the human experience of sleeping. The conceptual area is interpreted both in relation to physical experience and as a part of the Central European cultural code. The second chapter concentrates on the concept and the approach of the linguistic picture of the world (e.g. Bartmiński, 2012), the detection and verification of the semantic connotations method (Bartmiński, Panasiuk, 2001), the conceptual metaphor theory (Lakoff, Johnson, 1980/2002), the cognitive conception of metonymy (cf. ibid), and the interaction between metaphor and metonymy (i.e. metaphtonymy, Goosens, 1990, 2002). The third chapter is based on the linguistic data excerpted from various Czech dictionaries and describes the conceptual area. First are introduced derivational nests, then relevant semantic relations and etymology of the selected terms (spát, bdít etc.). This academic-practical Bachelor's thesis attempts to outline various approaches to the depiction of dream imagery through the medium of photography. The first part of the academic section juxtaposes the interpretation of the meanings of dreams with regard to two theories Sigmund Freud's depth psychology and Carl Gustav Jung's theory of optimism. Furthermore, it is concerned with imagination as such, i.e. the ability to evoke mental images of memories or entirely new visions transformed into the visual art of photography. The second part of the academic section presents diverse artistic approaches to imaginary photographies: Spanning from pictorialism, surrealism up to postmodern photographies and contemporary tendencies. The practical section of the thesis thematically continues the academic one by presenting five dream photographies. The comprehensive collection with the name "The Photographies of a Single Night" was inspired by my own dreams.

The diploma thesis Milan Kundera and Intertextuality deals with aspects of relations between the texts in his novels. The first part outlines the intertextuality, theory of the novel and the approaches of some literary theorists towards this issue. The second half of the thesis analyzes the intertextuality in Kundera's works in various forms, mainly based on the themes of dreams and physicality. The aim of this thesis is to present tchämong, a specific Korean dream of conception, that if properly interpretated can provide some information pertaining to the conception and other qualities of the unborn child to the dreamer. This thesis contextualizes tchämong into a broader category of dreams of conception, and then focuses on its specific features in Korea's culture. The fundamental aim of this paper is to exemplify the claim that tchämong is embedded in the system of traditional beliefs, practices and myths, which act as a main factor in continuing this tradition into modern times. The primary focus is given to tchämong within the framework of pregnancy practices and beliefs and close relation between tchämong and myths, which is expressed especially in its symbolism.

The time period during which the Surrealist Group in Czechoslovakia and during which Vítězslav Nezval was creating surrealistic works has several theoretical bases in psychology and philosophy. The purpose of this thesis is to list these bases and interpret them in connection with Nezval's surrealistic works. Sources used comprise of fictional and theoretical literature and also period press and publications about surrealism.

One of the main goals of the thesis entitled Dreams and Painting in Czech Art in 1930s is to describe the relationship between dreams and fine arts. Through studding artists' approach to this topic and analyzing their works of art I want to explain in which way and to what degree dreams can influence art. The paper is focusing only on Czech artistic scene where some artists belonged to the Surrealist movement. The purpose of my dissertation is to analyze and further elaborate upon its main topic: the questions that are of a mutual deep interest to both medicine and philosophy. Surrealistic Moments in Raymond Queneau's Novels The objective of this thesis is to study the connection between Raymond Queneau's novels and surrealism. Raymond Queneau was part of the surrealistic group for only a relatively short time and after he left it, he fully rejected the surrealistic movement and concentrated his literary output in another direction. Nevertheless, there are surrealistic moments to be found in his work, on which this thesis will focus. The thesis contains a brief characterisation of surrealism as a literary movement and a basic overview of Raymond Queneau's life and the structure of his works. Special focus is given to the part of the author's life when he was active in the surrealistic group. The thesis further studies the period of time when Raymond Queneau was no longer part of the surrealistic group and when he turned his attention to completely different literary aspects of his production and participated in the work of other literary groups, whose methods differed substantially from the methods of surrealism (Oulipo); special focus is given to the significant aspects of the author's output, i.e. emphasis on the literary form, structure and order of his works. The topic of this dissertation is the phemomenon of the dream, dreamy picture and their projection into the creation of surrealist artworks. The disertation tries to connect the basic knowledge of psychoanalysis and the history of art. The thesis attepmts to solve the questions of how the dream imagination is different from the imaginative art of the previous centuries and how the dream topics are involved in the artworks. One of the most important resources for the art work of surrealism was in the psychoanalysis and the knowledge of the work of Sigmund Freud. That is the reason why the first part of this thesis is dedicated to Freud?s The Interpretation of Dreams and the dream symbolism ? its origin, knowledge resources and reflection in the fine arts. The closing chapter uses the previously undiscovered knowledge to present the work of Jindřich Štýrský and tries to indicate how the dream imagination was projected to the artwork of this signifiant surrealist painter.

The dream about an earthly paradise, rediscovery of an original, absolutely harmonic paradisal life is, in Dostoevskij's opinion, one of the deepest and the most valuable dreams of the human heart. The spiritual course of any human being has its own history, it is born from thesis (babtism), goes through antithesis (crises) and finishes in synthesis (beauty). A man comes from the Eden Paradise and aims at heaven. So, a man in course of his spiritual life is in a real split into two paradises: the Eden Paradise from which he is coming from and the Kingdom of God where he is aiming at. The midpoint of the life course is accompanied by a crisis, that can also be described as separation from the the paradise. The characters of novels by Dostoevskij failed due to the fact, that they were not able to admit their presence between two "paradise states" and so their ideas about earthly paradise establishment were being corrupted. This thesis should solve the mystery of the synesthesia (especially on field of the theory of literature). The explanation of selected art schools of the second half of nineteenth century should anchor this phenomenon in the history of literature. The thesis analysis the concrete cases selected from the primary texts (collection of poems Zazděná okna, prose Román o Manfredu Macmillenovi and drama Sen o říši krásy). This analysis is based on the various types od synesthesia. The analysis prooved that this phenomenon does not only exist in the world literature, but it also exists in the Czech literature of that age. The comparison of the results extracted by Sean A. Day, Ph.D. was very interesting. This thesis examines also the colours and seing of the colours in the dreams. The work of Svetozar Nevole showed up useful. Although the work is almost 50 years younger than the primary literature, there were no big problems with adaptation of this theory for the primary texts.

The revolutionary dream Devětsil is about young artists and leftist intellectuals who set up the avant-gardist union of artists known as the Devětsil in october 1920. The establishment of the Devětsil was the culmination their experience and participation in events of the revolutionary era (1918 - 1920) when the realization of social revolution made great changes possible in Czechoslovakia. The idea for the Devětsil came about spring 1919 during the first bigger revolutionary wave. As the part of the avant-garde scene, members of the Devětsil wanted to create more than an artistic union, they wanted to have political and action program. However their conceptions of the revolution were very abstract in spite of their marxist convictions. Althoug one of their main goals was the abstract realization and the expression of a revolutionary actuality, they were not actually in touch with the revolution because there was a big intellectual distinction betwen members of the Devětsil and proletariansm who according to Marx were main protagonicts of the revolutionary process. The goal of this thesis is to accentuate the communicational aspect of dealing with unconscious manifestations, with emphasis on handling dreams. Based on the analysis of Sigmund Freud's texts, it examines the ways in which we can talk about dreams and other unconscious manifestations and what influence such talk has on the individuals participating in the communicational process. The thesis charts several of Sigmund Freud's important texts that are used as a basis to prove that thanks to the mystery surrounding it, a dream can exert significant influence on communication. Sigmund Freud's theory was chosen for this thesis, whose works about dreams and whose interest in examining unconscious manifestations, such as forgetting, slipping of the tongue, faulty acts and other, contain a communicational potential, whose surface Freud barely scratches, or which he often treats with outright neglect. This paper presents 12 individual case studies representing three different psychiatric diagnoses: depression, schizophrenia, and phobia. The collected data suggests that aspects of each one of the disorders covered are somehow reflected in the dreams and dream existence of the patients. Based on repeated in-depth interviews (n=48) with each of the participants (n=12), it is clear that dream content often repeats in each individual. Further phenomenological and qualitative content analysis revealed repetition of characteristic dream content (feelings, phenomenon, and existentials) in each of the three groups. While more research is needed, the results suggest dream content could be a significant tool in establishing a diagnosis and in aiding the psycho-therapeutic process.
