Před zavedením výbušnin v Evropě existovaly dva základní způsoby těžby: pomocí ohně a nástrojů, z nichž nejběžnější byly kladivo a dláto. Používání dřeva, a tedy i ohně, lze vysledovat až do protohistorických dob.

V různých fázích výrobního procesu (získávání surovin, příprava keramických hmot, tváření, sušení, výpal) zapojovali nebo využívali různé toky energií – zejména mechanickou (lidské tělo), kinetickou, vodní, sluneční a tepelnou. Užitné vlastnosti nádob často úzce souvisely s kvalitou materiálů (keramických hmot) a schopností vyrovnávat se s tepelnou energií nebo odolávat mechanickému namáhání. Příspěvek prozkoumává proměny energetických a materiálových toků v hrnčířské výrobě v delším časovém horizontu od 13. až do konce 19. století pomocí přístupu chaîne opératoire.

Legal instruments of energy efficiency Abstract and key words The diploma thesis deals with energy efficiency as a unique source of energy. The subject of this thesis is to specify key legal instruments of energy efficiency, i.e. conceptual, administrative and economical instruments. The diploma thesis is divided into five chapters. In the introductory chapter, being called Energy Policy, there is a brief outline of the background of energy politics on both the international and EU level, including environmental protection. This introductory chapter also ranks the Czech Republic among countries with high energy performance. Energy efficiency is the opportunity to lower its energy performance. The second chapter, Legal Instruments of Energy Efficiency, defines legal instruments of energy efficiency as a part of environmental protection. This chapter is a general one; the instruments are concretized in the following chapters. In addition, this chapter focuses on the principle of sustainable development, as well as issues related to human factor, climate conditions and rebound effect. The third chapter, called Conceptual Instruments, provides further information relating to conceptual strategies of energy efficiency. For the EU conceptions, key directives are mentioned to regulate energy efficiency, namely the...

Blood-feeding arthropods, Ixodes ricinus acquire and digest vast amounts of the host blood meal, which often exceeds their body volume up to 100 times. It seems to be an only source of energy which they need for the reproduction. I identified homologues of six sugar transporters genes encoding sugar transporters in the I. ricinus tick. Transcripts encoding sugar transporters were found in digestive tract of I. ricinus. The results of RT PCR analysis characterised tissue expression profiles of the sugar transporters while fed by blood. The sugar transporters were determined as a drug target by RNAi. In this master thesis, the use of RNAi and available sugar inhibitors did not confirm glucose importance in physiology of ticks. Membrane feeding showed that blood meal with 2-deoxy-D-glucose had a significant impact on the reproduction and viability of the ticks.

MCT oils are triglycerides whose fatty acids have an aliphatic tail of 6-12 carbon atoms. Within the gastrointestinal tract, MCT are digested to their respective fatty acids (MCFAs) and rapidly absorbed and transported into the portal vein which then takes them straight to the liver, therefore MCTs are not stored in fat deposits in the body as much as LCTs. In addition, MCTs can pass through the mitochondrial membrane of the liver and muscle not depending on the carnitine transporter, what makes them a very readily available source of energy. Endurance athletes try to maximize their ability to mantain glycogen stores during exercise, so that using these supplements as a quick source of energy should lead to improved endurance performance. The aim of the work is to provide a more objective view of the prevailing trends and different conclusions of particular scientific studies and to clarify the impact of MCT on sport endurance performance. The work includes meta-analysis based on data collection method from previously published scientific studies following the use of MCTs in relation to sport endurance performance. Medical database PubMed and multidisciplinary databases EBSCO and Google Scholar were used to search for these studies. The meta-analysis does not show any specific effect of MCTs...

In the first part, the thesis focuses on the reasons why the topic of electromobility is developing and why there is the effort to change the fleet for vehicles powered by alternative fuels. The thesis continues with a section dealing with electricity sources. There are various ways of generating electricity and the prognosis in which direction this area is going. In the next step the thesis deals with the problem of charging the batteries. This topic is one of the factors that hamper the development and many people consider this as the greatest threat. The thesis shows whether the concerns are well founded and which charging options exist. The level of electromobility in the Czech Republic is not the best so it is necessary to look at inspirational examples from other countries. Another topic of this thesis explains why there is such a situation in the Czech Republic and afterwards there are analysed negative and positive factors influencing the development of electromobility. In October 2015, the Ministry of Industry and Trade awarded a national action plan for clean mobility, which analyses the electromobility directions for the coming years. The next section shows the real values of how electric vehicles are being sold in the Czech Republic and what the development of sales is. In addition, the attitude of the domestic automaker to electromobility is stated. In conclusion, the thesis focuses on the views of various specialists and owners of electric cars, why they think that the development of electromobility is not as rapid as in other countries. In the practical part of the thesis there is introduced the BMW i3S electric car. This electric vehicle was loaned in a ACR auto a.s company for the purpose of this work and it was tested for various aspects that are crucial to electromobiles.

The interest of anthropology of religion often focuses on the view of life and values of practitioners of a religion or spiritual system and the following text is put into the same context. This master thesis deals with the Reiki phenomenon - originally eastern spiritual technique that was, just like other similar philosophical-spiritual systems, spread out in America and Europe in the second half of twentieth century. Reiki has another distinct feature, besides spirituality. It is its affiliation to so called healing systems because of which I do not consider it purely spiritual system, but rather specific spiritual praxis with healing aspect that is historically connected with medical environment. I base my theory not only on anthropology of religion, but I also think in terms of medical anthropology and the theory of embodiment. Through explaining of basic Reiki principles, I am showing that the world of Reiki practitioners is to a certain extent divided. The evolution of the teaching led to many significantly different modifications and to current state, where these modifications coexist and make one single definition of the teaching very difficult. The perspective of embodiment allows me to focus more in detail on the healing praxis itself and its most important aspect - the body, which I see...

Mankind has come to the point where it is fully dependent on energy. Primarily, this means the universally convertable electricity and also the thermal energy. The most widespread technologies for production of the above energies are unfortunately based on fossil fuels which, when combusted, produce greenhouse gases. Even though this is not the sole source of these substances, it belongs among the largest ones. The heightened concentration of greenhouse gases in Earth's atmosphere causes climate change which endangers the environment of the whole planet. To make this process stop or at least slow down, it is imperative to implement a wide range of measures to limit the greenhous gases production. Even though such measures will need to be carried out technically, their basis lies in law. The dissertation thesis "Energy and Environment from the Viewpoint of Law" deals with relationships between energy and environment (mostly energetics) and tools of law which can be releavant in this field. They can be found across different levels from international through European to national - Czech - level. From the perspective of applied tools, they incorporate conceptual, administrative and economical approaches. The roles of the respective means is such that the conceptual determine future progress,...

Biodiversity trends (such as the relationship between species richness and temperature or productivity) are always defined for a particular taxon at a specific area (the entire range of the taxon or often just a region arbitrarily chosen by researchers). The form of these trends varies between taxa and regions. The weak relationship between richness and temperature or productivity is sometimes interpreted as a counterevidence for the hypothesis explaining diversity patterns by these variables. However, the delimitation of taxa or region may play a crucial role for the form of the trends. The aim of this thesis is to determine whether some taxon properties (its size) or region properties (its area, range of explanatory variables, the temperature-productivity relationship or average temperature) affect the strength and slope of the richness-temperature and richness-productivity relationships. 46 data sets of species richness for a wide range of plants, invertebrates and ectothermic vertebrates within different regions of the world were used for the analysis. While the taxon size is likely to affect the strength and slope of the relationship when comparing individual (nested) subclades within larger clade, the comparison of different taxa in different regions of the world shows only the effect of the region...

This dissertation deals with the notion of centration in the work of Teilhard de Chardin, the notion being examined with regard to two related aims: 1) to illustrate the logical structure of Teilhard's Christian theory of evolution, and 2) to explain the relation between centration carried out by created beings and centration assigned to God as the focal point of evolution. In other words: to explore the connection between fundamental freedom attributed by Teilhard to created beings and culminating in human beings according to him, and God's freedom demonstrating itself in controlling the universe and directing it to a goal being the fullness of being (pleroma). The first part presents Teilhard's life and the contexts of his work. The second part explains the main notions of Teilhard's theory and metaphysics, such as "consciousness", "spirit", "energy", "centro-complexity", and "matter", and relates them to the notion of centration. Centration is presented here as an activity of the consciousness consisting in the unifying formation of multitude by its interconnection with different types of relations around one centre. In such unification, the main law of evolution manifests itself - the Law of Differentiating Unity. This means that parts unified in such way start differentiating again. What is...

Author of this bachelor thesis attempts to uncover the phenomenon of castle ghosts from the point of view of castellans (caretakers and managers of castles). The situations that castellans experience have some features of the so-called boundary objects. These objects are typical for their ambiguity and acquiring of different meanings, depending on the point of view taken. In this case, there are two opposite viewpoints. On the one hand, there is the visitors' desire to meet or see a real ghost that is known from books and legends. On the other hand, the experience of people who work and live in castles is totally different - more intimate and inward. The author would like to describe this so far unresearched phenomenon by analysis of thirteen interviews with castellans of Czech castles. Yet this study does not present a plain description of supernatural situations. The author rather attempts to conclude how castellans face these situations. These castellans are considered as very pragmatic and respectable persons who dedicated their lives to care for a historical building. Even in this fact there is a remarkable contradiction. It is apparent that castellans are captivated by the mystical atmosphere of their work places. Still, they are required to be rational persons who need to handle the upkeep...

Creating the concept of energy self-sufficient buildings (the ESB) is after a passive house another hot topic, but the diversity of their approach is much broader. The article describes the ways of understanding of ESB, their definitions and the use of modified SBTool for assessing alternative proposals ESB on draft especially with respect to their characteristics and sustainable development.

Latitudinal gradient of diversity is typically being explained by the three main hypotheses: The Resources Limitation Hypothesis, The Speciation Rate Hypothesis and The Niche Conservatism Hypothesis. In my study I tested basic assumptions of these hypotheses using native and non-native vascular plants obtained from the new database GloNAF (Global Naturalized Alien Flora). I tested an effect of precipitation, NPP, temperature and historical velocity (difference in temperature and precipitation between the Last Glacial Maximum and present) on species richness. Given that the distribution of non-native species is among continents irregular (we can divide them into two groups - Australia with Europe and North America and South America with Africa and Asia), I tested the abovementioned relationships at both - global and continental scale. Species richness of native species increased with NPP, precipitation and temperature and decreased with the difference in temperature. The global distribution of non-native plants increased with precipitation and temperature velocity and decreases with temperature and precipitation velocity, although the results varied for particular continents. Unlike other studies the number of non-native species didn't correlate with the number of native plant species. Concurrently...

The aim of the study was to determinate digestibility of nutrients from diets for horses. The experiment was conducted on 9 Czech Warmblood horse breed on University school farm at Žabčice. For selected horses we found weight, age and workload. Horses were divided into 3 groups and in three balance periods were have gradually fed them the same amount of feed mixtures and meadow hay. Altogether an attempt fed 3 compound feed (mixtures), in which we analyzed components that were used in the experiment. Feed mixtures consisting from barley, oats, flaxseed meal, bean, dried whey, soybean meal, mineral premix and meadow hay. Diets mutually differed amounts of soybean meal. The experiment was arranged factor - so that no group of horses did not receive the same mixtures of 2x. The results were found to amount spent nutrients and calculated their digestibility. Digestibility of dry matter was 74.07 %+-4,45, crude fat 30.95 %+-23,62, energy 74.57 %+-3,89, nitrogen-free substances 79.79 %+-4,12, crude ash 66.31 %+-14,89, crude protein 80.17 %+-4,59 and crude fiber 69.91 %+-6,64. Digestibility of calcium, we estimated at 75.08 %+-8,35 and phosphorus 51.65 %+-15,93. Due fed mixture resulting difference in digestibility of crude protein at 1.02 % and the group fed mixtures, soybean meal and the group fed mixtures with the highest content of soybean meal (S10). The digestibility coefficients are most affected by the individual characteristics of horses and will need to make further balance for us to objectively determine the digestibility of crude protein in rations.

My bachelor thesis is focused on an impact of colours on human health. I describe a historical development of colours knowledge, what the colours are, how could influence human body and psyche. The colours surround everybody almost everywhere and therefore I describe a characteristic of each colour. The only favour of a human to the certain colour indicates his personality and therefore I consider this topic very interesting from psychological perspective. I also deal with energetic centres in human body, so called "chakras" and with their harmonization using different technique of colours. In conclusion I present a few colours therapies related to the health development. I believe my thesis could enhance a wide range of education processes as well as an area dealing with the healthy lifestyle.

Gradients in species richness are often explained by variation in energy availability. Positive relationship between energy and number of species may be caused by many mechanisms. One of them is the 'more individuals' hypothesis (MIH). According to it greater energy availability enable more individuals to coexist and more individuals can be divided into more species with viable populations. However, authors do vary in exact formulation of the MIH and so they vary in predictions that they test. Review of literature has also revealed that studies are fundamentally different in the approach to testing MIH. Some studies examine whether mechanism of MIH can operate in real assemblages and they often give a positive answer. Other studies ask whether MIH is able to explain spatial patterns of species richness. The answer is mostly negative. Number of species is often closely related to energy without the mediating effect of the number of individuals. There is also the question whether the number of individuals really determines number of species, and not vice versa. However, these two variables are certainly linked. Therefore, regardless of the causality, the relationship between the number of individuals and number of species is worth exploring.

The thesis "Who saves or does not save the energy: Uncovering the reasons for practicing energy-saving activities in households" identifies the segments which tend to (not) perform selected household energy saving activities and discover the reasons behind the (non) practicing these activities. The author uses both quantitative and qualitative approach. By quantitative approach, the author analyzes data from pilot project PURGE in order to identify segments which are more likely to do selected activities. Emphasis is placed on class position. The author's own qualitative survey by semi-structured interviews identifies the reasons behind this activities. Generally, the author discovered that the upper classes practice energy- saving activities more often than the lower classes which is consistent with findings that lower classes tend to perform habitual behavior and rely on technology and upper classes tend to calculate and study the effect of these activities. Among lowest educational category are (compared with other educational groups) more people who leave always or often turned on the television or radio, even when no one is watching. Women state more likely than men that they never turn down heating when leaving home for more than four hours, what corresponds to findings that arise from...

The aim of the thesis "International trade with strategically important commodities focused on crude oil" was archieved by analysis of current situation of trade with strategically important commodities focused on crude oil. Based on this analysis was integrated the Czech Republic in the internation trade with crude oil, how the state is affected by this trade and the prospect of further development of international trade with crude oil. At first was studied the theoretical solutions, which help to compose literary research. Terms as international trade, commodities, strategic commodities and crude oil were defined in this part of thesis. The attantion in another part of thesis was focused on the analysis the crude oil market. There were detected the most important world crude oil producers, states with the largest crude oil reserves, the largest consumers of oil, the major exportersv and importers of this strategic commodity and compared the world oil pruduction with crude oil consumption. The possible development of consumption and production in 2035 was also in this part outlined. Current situation on the crude oil market in the Czech Republic in 2012 showed that there are not significant crude oil reserves which would cover the consumption of the population in the country. It follows that the Czech Republic is dependent on crude oil import from Russian Federation, which may arise a varior international risks such as disruption of crude oil supplies, the use of crude oil as a political weapon or conflicts between states.
