The first works focused on the improvement of the care of the chronic herat failure patients were published about 30 years ago. The new Guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic heart failure were published in 2016 and have brought new information about heart failure (definition of heart failure, influence of ejection fraction of left ventricle) against the Guidelines from 2012. Prevalence of heart failure is about 1-2 % in adult population in developed countries and increases according to the age (more than 10 % in age over 70 years). In chronic heart failure patients is very often polymorbidity, but they are also treated with inadequate doses of medication, poorly educated and also their compliance to the recommended treatment regimen in unsatisfactory. For future years is to be expected increase incidence and prevalence of heart failure, according to the age and also the new therapeutic options. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
