- Abstract
Speech audiometry is an audiological test based on standardized speech signals, aiming to assess the speech recognition and comprehension of hearing loss patients. Compared with pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry not only reflects whether the patients can understand speech, but also reflects the patients’ central auditory function, cognitive function, and other integrated abilities. Speech audiometry is extremely important in hearing intervention and rehabilitation, especially in hearing aid intervention. In this review, we focus on the whole process of speech audiometry in hearing loss patients’ pre- and post-fitting and hearing rehabilitation, including the prediction of hearing loss patients’ hearing aid effect, assisting in the accurate adjustment, evaluating the effect of hearing aid intervention, formulating personalized rehabilitation plans and providing quantitative indicators for long-term follow-up, etc., aiming to improve the overall hearing loss patients’ satisfaction with hearing intervention outcomes. In addition, in the future, with the help of new technologies and modes of personalized rehabilitation, social participation, psychological support, etc., speech audiometry will be used to improve the quality of life of the hearing loss patients and the effect of hearing rehabilitation.
