In this paper, firstly, we establish the inertia formulae for some matrix expressions related to the generalized inverse . Then, as applications, based on the derived inertia formulae, we study the definiteness of some matrices. Finally, necessary and sufficient conditions for some matrices to be positive definite, positive semidefinite, negative definite and negative semi-definite are given, respectively.

Aiming at the problem that extreme learning machine( ELM) requires to determine the structure of the model in online learning, the paper proposed an on-line incremental ELM algorithm that supports both data increments and structural changes. On the basis of on-line sequential extreme ELM, the algorithm determined whether to add a new node or not by monitoring the changes of error. It used generalized inverse of block matrix to help update the model after new node was included so that the model maintains high accuracy. Experiments on different datasets with diverse volumes show that, the proposed algorithm has better classification and regression accuracies compared with classic ELM and its on-line and incremental learning versions, and it is suitable for various types of data analytical assignments. Aiming at such difficulties as unknown goal configuration, grasping space limitation and numerous obstacles in configuration space for motion planning of humanoid robot arm grasping object with high-dimensional space redundancy, this paper proposed a rapidly-exploring random tree (RRT) collision avoidance method based on generalized inverse. Firstly, it proposed hierarchical conceptual model of sub-dimensional space motion planning, established kinematics and inverse kinematics models of humanoid robot's upper. Secondly, it proposed weighted minimum norm generalized inverse RRT planning algorithm. Finally, it verified the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm through three-dimensional computer simulation and adopting the collision detection algorithm developed on the basis of oriented bounding box. The problem of attitude regulation control of an underactuated spacecraft is resolved by using sliding mode method. The three-axis underactuated spacecraft attitude dynamics and kinematics models are introduced. A sliding mode controller using generalized inverse and second order approaching law is designed for underactuated axis stabilization control, and the realisability of the controller is analyzed. A perturbed null-projection is constructed to guarantee the feasibility of the controller. On the basis of stabilization of the underactuated axis, a sliding mode controller is designed for another two axes as well. The proof of bounded stability is given in Lyapunov's sense.
