Objective: To analyze the status quo of the knowledge and related factors of cancer prevention and treatment among residents in Liaoning Province in 2021. Methods: From August to November 2021, through network sampling method, 17 474 permanent residents aged 15-69 years in Liaoning Province were surveyed. The WeChat public account was used to collect information such as demographic characteristics and core knowledge of cancer prevention and treatment. The Chi-square test was used to compare the difference of the level of the cancer prevention and treatment knowledge among different groups. The multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze the related factors. Results: Among the 17 474 subjects, 43.1% (7 528) were male and 58.7% (10 262) were urban residents. The overall awareness rate was 72.3%, and the awareness rate of cancer cognition, prevention, early diagnosis and treatment, cancer management and rehabilitation were 71.4%, 67.6%, 72.7%, 83.4% and 63.5%, respectively. The multivariate logistic regression model showed that the residents who were man ( OR : 0.850, 95% CI : 0.781-0.925), in rural areas ( OR : 0.753, 95% CI : 0.694-0.817), 55-59 years old ( OR : 0.851, 95% CI : 0.751-0.963), quitters ( OR : 0.721, 95% CI : 0.640-0.813) and smoker ( OR : 0.724, 95% CI : 0.654-0.801) had lower awareness rates, while the residents who were 35-54 years old ( OR : 1.312, 95% CI : 1.202-1.432), with an educational level of junior high school/senior high school/college degree or above ( OR : 1.834-5.130, 95% CI : 1.575-6.047), technical personnel ( OR : 1.592, 95% CI : 1.367-1.854), civil servant/institution staff ( OR : 1.282, 95% CI : 1.094-1.503), enterprise/business/service staff ( OR : 1.218, 95% CI : 1.071-1.385), retired ( OR : 1.324, 95% CI : 1.114-1.573) and with family history of cancer ( OR : 1.369, 95% CI : 1.266-1.481) had higher awareness rates. Conclusion: The level of the awareness of core knowledge of cancer prevention and treatment among residents in Liaoning Province has met the requirements of the Healthy China Action. Region, gender, education level, age, family history of cancer and smoking are relevant factors.

Chemical constituents were isolated and purified from fruiting bodies of Ganoderma calidophilum by various column chromatographic techniques, and their chemical structures were identified through combined analysis of physicochemical properties and spectral data. As a result, 11 compounds were isolated and identified as(24E)-lanosta-8,24-dien-3,11-dione-26-al(1), ganoderone A(2), 3-oxo-15α-acetoxy-lanosta-7,9(11), 24-trien-26-oleic acid(3),(23E)-27-nor-lanosta-8,23-diene-3,7,25-trione(4), ganodecanone B(5), ganoderic aldehyde A(6), 11β-hydroxy-lucidadiol(7), 3,4-dihydroxyacetophenone(8), methyl gentiate(9), ganoleucin C(10), ganotheaecolumol H(11). Among them, compound 1 is a new triterpenoid. The cytotoxic activities of all of the compounds against tumor cell lines were evaluated. The results showed that compounds 1, 3, 4 and 6 showed cytotoxic activity against BEL-7402, with IC_(50) values of 26.55, 11.35, 23.23, 18.66 μmol·L~(-1); compounds 1 and 3-6 showed cytotoxic activity against K562, with IC_(50) values of 5.79, 22.16, 12.16, 35.32, and 5.59 μmol·L~(-1), and compound 4 showed cytotoxic activity against A549, with IC_(50) value of 42.50 μmol·L~(-1).

To compare short-term and long-term efficacy after laparoscopic left hepatectomy(LLR) to open left hepatectomy(OLH) for primary left-sided hepatolithiasis. Methods: Clinical data of 187 patients with left-sided hepatolithiasis and underwent laparoscopically or open left-sided hepatectomy from October 2014 to October 2019 at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University were retrospectively analyzed in this propensity score matching (PSM) study and were matched in terms of age, sex, body mass index, liver function, ASA score, comorbidities, history of biliary surgery, and smoking history on the ratio of 1∶1.There were 47 cases in each group and the mean age were (54.7±12.3)years old(range:34 to 75 years old) and (53.2±12.6) years old (range: 34 to 75 years old) in open and laparoscopically group respectively. The data of operation time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative hospital-stay, complication rate, biliary fistula rate, stone clearance rate, and stone recurrence rate were compared. The quantitative data were compared using t -test or rank-sum test. Count data were analyzed with χ(2) test or Fisher test. Results: No significant difference was observed in the clinical characteristics of included 94 patients in this study(all P> 0.05).The length of the postoperative hospital-stay after OLH was significantly higher than that in the LLH group((10.8±3.1) days vs .(8.5±2.2)days, t= 4.085, P= 0.000). LLR significantly decreased the incidence of postoperative biliary fistula compared with the OLH (6.3% vs .21.2%, χ(2)=4.374, P= 0.036) and the rates of postoperative complications in the OLH group was significantly higher than that in the LLH group (48.9% vs .27.6%, χ(2)=4.502, P= 0.034). Moreover, the stone recurrence rates in the LLH group was significantly lower than that after OLR (4.2% vs . 17.0%, χ(2)=4.029, P= 0.045). OLH (95 % CI : 1.55 to 10.75, P= 0.004) and postoperative complications (95 % CI : 1.29 to 9.52, P= 0.013) were independent risk factors for prolonged hospital stay. OLH (95 % CI : 1.428 to 44.080, P= 0.018) and residual stones (95 % CI : 1.580 to 62.379, P= 0.014) were independent risk factors for the occurrence of postoperative biliary fistula. Biliary fistula (95 % CI : 1.078 to 24.517, P= 0.040) was an independent risk factor for the recurrence of stones. Conclusion: Compared with OLH, LLH is safe and effective for the treatment of the primary left-sided hepatolithiasis with the clinical benefits of shorter hospital stay, fewer morbidity and biliary fistula occurrence, and lower stone recurrence rates.

Chemical constituents were isolated from the fruiting bodies of Ganoderma australe by various column chromatographic techniques and HPLC method, and their chemical structures were identified through the combined analysis of physicochemical properties and spectral data. Meanwhile, their α-glucosidase inhibitory activity and anti-oxidative ability were evaluated. Seven compounds were isolated from G. australe and were identified as 6-methoxyl-cyclo-(Phe-Ile)(1), applanoxidic acid A methyl ester(2), ergosta-7,22 E-dien-3β-ol(3), cinnamic acid(4), 5α,8α-epidioxy-(20S,22E,24R)-ergosta-6,22-diene-3β-ol(5), 1-(3, 4-dihydroxyphenyl) ethanone(6), salicylic acid(7) and benzoic acid(8). Among the compounds, compound 1 was a new cyclic dipeptide. Compound 2 was a new lanosta natural product, and compounds 4, 6, 7 and 8 were obtained from G. australe for the first time. Moreover, compounds 4 and 8 exhibited α-glucosidase inhibitory activity with inhibition rates of 36.8% and 34.7%, and compounds 4, 7 and 8 had a certain activity in DPPH free radical scavenging activity with IC_(50) values of 0.168, 0.458 and 0.170 g·L~(-1), respectively. The DPPH radical scavenging rate of compound 1 was 41.1%.

Objective: To investigate the effects of Coriaria Sinica Maxim's extract(CSME) on microcirculation and oxidative stress of wounds in rats with deep second-degree burn., Methods: One hundred and eighty rats were randomly divided into normal saline group(NS), white petroleum group(WPL), silver sulfadiazine group (SSD), Coriariasinica Maxim's extract group which were divided into low dose(CSME-L),middle dose(CSME-M) and high dose(CSME-H). After anesthesia with burn instrument to burn the hair removal area of rats, these wounds were confirmed by pathological results with deep second degree burns.And then,those drugs were applied respectively on the wounds,such as NS、WPL、SSD and different concentrations of CSME. After injury at 48 h, 7 d, 14 d and 21 d,the healing rate(HR) of wound was measured, and the microvessel density (MVD), tissue moisture (TM), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), model driven architecture (MDA), superoxide dismutase(SOD) and hydroxyproline(HYP) were detected, too. All pathological sections of the wound tissue were observed., Results: The HR of CSME groups were obviously increased with a dose-dependent manner, which was significantly higher than that of NS and WPL ( P <0.05); On the 21 st day, the diameter, number, distribution of the vessels and and the TM were less than other groups with a dose-dependent manner; On the 7 th and 14 th day after injury, CSME groups were significantly higher than the NS, WPL and SSD with a dose-dependent manner ( P <0.05), but, on the 21 st day after injury, they were lower than NS, WPL and SSD with a dose-dependent ( P <0.05) manner. The levels of SOD, HYP, NO and ET in CSME groups were higher than those in other groups with dose-dependent on SOD activity, HYP, NO and ET content ( P <0.05), while MDA activity was weaker than other groups ( P <0.05). Similarly, pathological findings were also shown that CSME groups were better than other groups with a dose-dependent manner in decrease decreasing of wound repair time and hyperplasia of scar tissue., Conclusions: CSME can relieve tissue edema, promote wound contraction, speed up the formation of eschar and accelerate the proliferation of granulation tissue, which are beneficial to the wound healing in the early stages. But, it can inhibit the hyperplasia of granulation tissue to prevent the excessive scar hyperplasia of burn wound in the later stages. Its mechanism is related to regulation what microcirculation, oxidativestress, NO and VEGF.

Objective: To obtain high?quality low?dose CT images using total generalized variation regularization based on the projection data for low?dose CT reconstruction., Methods: The projection data of the CT images were transformed from Poisson distribution to Gaussian distribution using the linear Anscombe transform. The transformed data were then restored by an efficient total generalized variation minimization algorithm. Reconstruction was finally achieved by inverse Anscombe transform and filtered back projection (FBP) method., Results: The image quality of low?dose CT was greatly improved by the proposed algorithm in both Clock and Shepp?Logan phantoms. The signal?to?noise ratios (SNRs) of the Clock and Shepp-Logan images reconstructed by FBP algorithm were 17.752 dB and 19.379 dB, which were increased by the proposed algorithm to 24.0352 and 23.4181 dB, respectively. The NMSE of the Clock and Shepp?Logan images reconstructed by FBP algorithm was 0.86% and 0.58%, which was reduced by the proposed algorithm to 0.2% and 0.23%, respectively., Conclusion: The proposed method can effectively suppress noise and strip artifacts in low?dose CT images when piecewise constant assumption is not possible.

Objective: To investigate the protective effect of Danxuetong injection (DXT, a combination of Danshen and Xueshuantong injections) against testicular ischemia-reperfusion injury following testis torsion/detorsion in rats., Methods: Thirty-two 4-week-old healthy male SD rats were randomly divided into four groups of equal number: sham operation, normal saline, single DXT injection, and successive DXT injection. The rat models of testicular ischemia-reperfusion injury were established by 2-hour 720-degree torsion/detorsion of the unilateral testis. At 6 weeks after modeling, the rats were killed and their testes were harvested for measure- ment of testicular coefficients, sperm counts, sperm motility, and the levels of total anti-oxidative capacity (T-AOC) , superoxide dismutase (SOD) , nitric oxide synthase (NOS) , and malondialdehyde ( MDA) in the testis tissue., Results: Compared with the rats of the normal saline group, those of the single DXT injection and successive DXT injection groups showed significant increases in the testicular coefficient (0.11 ± 0.03 vs 0.35 ± 0.04 and 0.40 ± 0.06, P < 0.05), sperm count ([0.46 ± 0.10] vs [1.44 ± 0.50] and [3.00 ± 1.28] x10(9)/ml, P < 0.05), sperm motility ([13.63 ± 14.04] vs [39.63 ± 5.04] and [76.31 ± 3.67]%, P < 0.05), the activity of SOD (72.76 ± 5.58 vs 116.25 ± 8.83 and 133.20 ± 13.84, P < 0.05), and the level of T-AOC (5.58 ± 1.07 vs 13.34 ± 5.81 and 19.21 ± 5.69, P < 0.05), but a remarkable decrease in the content of MDA (42.38 ± 8.94 vs 20.94 ± 5.65 and 15.02 ± 1.03, P < 0. 05) in the injured testes., Conclusion: DXT can effectively rid the testis tissue of oxygen free radicals, improve sperm count and motility by antioxidation, and protect the testis tissue of prepubertal rats against testicular ischemia-reperfusion injury after testis torsion/detorsion. It also has a protective effect on the contralateral testis, and successive injection has a better effect than single injection of DXT.

The present study explored phosphorus fractions in sediments with the growth of Vallisneria natans. Sediment samples in different layers were collected at 20, 50 and 80 d, and vertical change of several phosphorus fractions were measured in the samples. The root distributions and biomass of the V. natans were measured. Our results showed that roots were distributed between 0 and 14 cm in the experimental device. The average number of roots and average root length were 58 and 5.86 cm. After 80 days growth, the percentage of V. natans root biomass were 45.99%, 32.75%, 16.03% and 5.23% in the sediment with depths of 0-3, 4-6, 7-10 and 11-14 cm. Total phosphorus (TP) content, phosphorus extracted by NaOH (NaOH-P), and organic phosphorus (OP) levels remarkably decreased (P < 0.05) in the area with a high concentration of tape grass roots. The content of phosphorus extracted by HCl (HCl-P), and inorganic phosphorus (IP), showed no significant difference (P > 0.05). The results suggest that V. natans root affects the migration and transformation of phosphorus species in the sediment.

The chemical investigation on Ganoderma philippii led to the isolation of sixteen compounds by silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography. On the basis of spectroscopic data analyses, their structures were elucidated as 2, 5-dihydroxyacetophenone (1), methyl gentisate (2), (S) -dimethyl malate (3), muurola-4, 10 (14) -dien-11beta-ol (4), dihydroepicubenol (5), 5-hydroxymethylfuran carboxaldehyde (6), ergosta-7, 22E-dien-3beta-ol (7), ergosta-7, 22E-dien-3-one (8), ergosta-7, 22E-diene-2beta, 3alpha, 9alpha-triol (9), 6/beta-methoxyergo-sta-7, 22E-dien-3beta, 5alpha-diol (10), ergosta-4, 6, 8(14), 22E-tetraen-3-one (11), ergosta4, 6, 8-(14), 22E-etetraen-3beta-ol (12), 5alpha, 8alpha-epidioxy-ergosta-6, 22E-dien-3beta-ol (13), 7alpha-methoxy-5alpha, 6alpha-epoxyergosta-8-(14), 22E-dien-3beta-ol (14), ergosta-8, 22E-diene-3beta, 5alpha, 6beta, 7alpha-tetraol (15), and ergosta-5, 23-dien-3beta-ol, acetate (16). All the compounds were obtained from this fungus for the first time, and compounds 4 and 5 were isolated from the Ganoderma genus for the first time.

In order to study the process of phosphorus transfer between sediment and overlying water, Hydrilla verticillata and Vallisneria natans were cultured in spring, Potamogeton crispus was cultured in winter. Changes of environmental factors and phosphorus concentrations in water and sediment were investigated. The results indicated that: submerged macrophytes could reduce all phosphorus fractions in the overlying water. Phosphorus concentrations in overlying water maintained in a relative low level in the growth period of submerged macrophytes. The concentrations of total phosphorus (TP) in overlying water of H. verticillata, V. natans and P. crispus were 0.03-0.05, 0.04-0.12, 0.02-0.11 mg x L(-1), respectively. All phosphorus fractions in sediment were reduced. The maximum value between submerged macrophyte and control of H. verticillata, V. natans and P. crispus were 35.34, 60.67 and 25.92 mg x kg(-1), respectively. Dissolved oxygen (DO), redox potential (Eh) and pH in overlying water increased (DO 10.0-14.0 mg x L(-1), Eh 185-240 mV, pH 8.0-11.0) in the submerged macrophytes groups. Submerged macrophytes increased Eh( -140 - -23 mV) and maintained pH(7.2-8.0) in neutral range. The results indicated that submerged macrophytes affected phosphorus transferring between sediment and overlying water through increasing DO, Eh and pH in overlying water, and Eh in sediment.

Objective: To investigate the effect of lemon peel extracts (LPE) on the activity of lactate dehydrogenase and sucrase of Streptococcus mutans (Sm)., Methods: After serial dilution with trypticase soy broth (TSB) medium containing 2% glucose, LPE was used as the experimental group, and TSB without LPE as the control group. Sm was added to each group, which was then cultured for 6, 18, 24 and 48 hours in the anaerobic tank. The activity of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) was measured with the method of oxidation of reduction coenzymeIand the pH value of the culture solution was also detected. The activity of the sucrose was determined with the method of coloration of 3,5-dinitrosalicylic acid., Results: The activity of LDH, sucrase and the changes of solution pH were decreased with the increase of the concentration of LPE (P < 0.01). The activity of LDH were declined from (0.8025 ± 0.0913) × 10(3) U/L to (0.2099 ± 0.0283) × 10(3) U/L; the activity of sucrase were declined from (-0.0107 ± 0.0003) × 10(3) U/L to (-0.0078 ± 0.0002) × 10(3) U/L; the ΔpH were declined from (2.8067 ± 0.0404) to (2.5033 ± 0.0416) (24 h results). The differences were significant between experimental groups and the control group (P < 0.01), and there were also significant differences among experimental groups with different LPE concentration (P < 0.01). The inhibitory effect of acid generation and lactate dehydrogenas' activity of Sm were positively correlated (P < 0.01)., Conclusions: LPE can inhibit the activity of lactate dehydrogenase, sucrase and the acid production capacity of the Sm in a dose dependent manner. The inhibitory effects in logarithmic phase is stronger than that in other phases of growth cycle.

Objective: To detect the nitric oxide (NO) production and energy metabolism of the interleukin (IL)-1beta-treated residual hepatocytes from rats after partial hepatectomy., Methods: Forty rats were equally divided into partial hepatectomies (PH) group and control group. In the control group the rats were otherwise matched and underwent sham surgeries. The residual hepatocytes were separated by the collagenase perfusion method. The hepatocytes were cultured with cytokines such as IL-1beta. The production of NO in the two groups were measured with Griess reagent method, the production of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) protein detected with Western blot, the content of the nucleotide in the hepatocytes detected with high-performance liquid chromatography, and the content of the ketone body in the hepatocytes of the two groups determined with the enzymatic method. Afterwards the ketone body ratio (acetoacetate/beta-hydroxy butyrate, KBR) was calculated., Results: The production of NO in the PH group was twice as much as that in the Sham group. IL-1beta decreased the content of ATP and the KBR in the hepatocytes of both groups, and the decrease magni tude in the PH group was significantly larger than that in the Sham group. After the injection of L-arginine, the production of NO in the hepatocytes in the PH group increased, and the level of ATP and KBR decreased. N(G)-methyl-L-arginine (L-NMMA), the inhibitor of NO synthase, inhibited the production of NO and reversed the decrease of ATP and KBR., Conclusion: After partial hepatectomy, increased NO production in the hepatocytes after the treatment of interleukin-1beta may disturb the function of mitochondria by inhibiting the synthesis of ATP.

Objective: To investigatre appropriate macroporous resins and the optimal technological parameters of the purification process of tartary buckwheat total flavonoids., Method: Static and dynamic adsorption-desorption methods were adopted, and evaluated for separating efficiency by macroporous resins absorption rates, desorption rates., Result: The DM -2 macroporous resin had the best separating efficiency. The best absorbed condition is H2O as solvent of extracts, diameter vs height: 1: 10, pH 3 - 4, absorption power: 3.0 mL x min(-1). The optimum adsorption condition is the volume of 50% ethanol 80 mL (approximately 5 BV (resin bed volume) as eluting solvent, pH 8, the desorption power: 3.0 mL x min(-1)., Conclusion: This technology is simple, quick and cost-effective, which is suitable for industrialization.

Objective: To clarify whether the acupoints of Zusanli (ST36) and Sanyinjiao (SP6) have specific actions other than non-acupoints to bone., Methods: Forty Sprague-Dawley female rats were divided into five groups: Sham operated (sham) group; Ovariectomized (OVX, model) group; non-acupuncture group; OVX, needling on Zusanli and Sanyinjiao (Acp-A) group; OVX, needling on the reverse sides of Zusanli and Sanyinjiao (Acp-B) group; OVX, periostineal stimulation on the same height as points of Zusanli and Sanyinjiao (Acp-C) group. The experiment was continued for 23 weeks and then all animals were sacrificed., Results: OVX had a significantly higher body weight and lower bone mineral density (BMD) on the lumbar vertebrae, total femora and tibiae than sham rats, however, Acp-A showed a higher BMD compared with the other OVX groups. On the other hand, bone weights, bone strength and bone morphometry such as trabecular volume, trabecular separation, labeled width and bone formation rate also showed the same improvements in Acp-A as compared to the other OVX rats., Conclusion: The stimulation on Zusanli and Sanyinjiao specifically prevented the development of osteopenic rats compared with non-acupoints.

Objective: To study the effect of Acanthopanax senticosus injection (ASI) on the activities of human tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and natural killer cell (NKC) in the patients with lung cancer and the underlying mechanism., Method: 73 cases with lung cancer were randomly divided into two groups, namely, the treatment group (n = 39) and observation group (n = 34); 61 cases with or without other diseases were respectively divided into control A (n = 30) and B (n = 31) groups. The patients in treatment group were injected with ASI for 21 days. The activities of human TNF and NKC and the levels of IgG, IgA and IgM were detected respectively., Result: After injection with ASI the activity of TNF-alpha in treatment group was comparable with that in the two control groups and was significant lower that that in observation group. The activity of TNF-beta and the levels of IgA, IgG and IgM were significantly higher than those in observation group and two control groups (P < 0.01). The activity of NKC was also remarkably higher than observation and two control groups., Conclusion: ASI can regulate the cellular immunity and factor, indicating that ASI can be used as an assistant drug to regulate the function of cellular immunity in the patients with lung cancer.

Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of Modified Banxia Houpu Decoction (MBHD) in treating heroin abusers with protracted abstinence syndrome., Methods: One hundred and eighty-seven heroin abusers were randomly divided into three groups, the 58 patients in the control group, 62 in the treated group A and 67 in the treated group B. All were detoxified with lofexidine hydrochloride (LFX) tablet for 12 days. MBHD was given to the two treated groups, the medication started from the beginning of detoxification in the group B, and from the end of detoxification in group A for 60 days. To the control group, an imitate preparation was given. The observation was carried out 10 days after withdrawal of medication, and the protracted abstinence related symptoms were observed and scored. And the condition of re-abusing in patients were investigated through urinary examination one year later., Results: The heroin abusers' protracted abstinence symptom score in the treated group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P < 0.01), and comparison of the scores between the two treated groups also showed significant difference (A < B, P < 0.01). The 1-year re-abusing rate in treated group B was significantly lower than that in the control group and in the treated group A (P < 0.05)., Conclusion: MBHD could improve the heroin abusers' protracted abstinence symptoms after detoxification. In spite of the complexity of various factors, to effectively control the early stage abstinence symptoms and median stage protracted abstinence symptoms is one of the effective measures to prevent drug re-abusing.

RNA was extracted from stored bone marrow smears, expression of WT1 gene in the patients with MDS was examined by means of nest RT-PCR. The results showed WT1 gene was highly expressed in some cases of MDS. Expression rates were higher in the patients with RAEB and RAEB-t than those patients with RA and RAS. WT1 expression is related to the advance of MDS. The detection of WT1 gene expression by RT-PCR might be useful for assessing disease progress in the patients with MDS.

After preincubation of crude synaptic membranes (P2 membranes) with phorber ester (PMA) or GABAB receptor agonist baclofen (BAL), the rate of inhibition of BAL on basal adenylate cyclase (AC) activity and forskolin-stimulated AC activity significantly reduced (desensitized). This effect of BAL did not change after preincubation with forskolin suggesting that the desensitization mechanism of GABAB receptor coupled AC is related with activation of protein kinase C (PKC), but not with protein kinase A. It was further found that the equilibrium dissociation constant (Kd) of GABAB receptor was increased during desensitization. Our results suggest that PKC activation may cause some structural or conformational changes of GABAB receptor, resulting in an uncoupling from G protein and desensitization of GABAB receptor-coupled AC.

In one trial passive avoidance response in mice, the effects of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)B receptor agonist baclofen and antagonist CGP35348 and CGP36742 on acquisition, consolidation and retrieval of memory were observed. The results showed that the antagonists could significantly promote the acquisition impairment induced by baclofen, the consolidation impairment induced by baclofen and NaNO2, and the retrieval impairment induced by baclofen and 30% alcohol. These results suggest that the GABAB receptor antagonists may become a novel type of drug for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

The present study includes 32 cases of sudden deafness treated with Sequential External Counterpulsation in addition to combined TCM-WM therapy, 30 cases treated with combined TCM-WM, and 30 cases treated with WM alone. The clinical findings of these 3 groups were quite similar, hence they were comparable. The mean duration of treatment, percentage of effectiveness and percentage of recurrence within 3 years were 13 days, 75% and 16.6% respectively in the first group; 19 days, 56.6% and 29.4% in the second group; and 21 days, 53.2% and 37.5% in the third group. The first group showed shorter duration of treatment higher effective rate and lower recurrence rate; and all their differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The data revealed that, the treatment of sudden deafness with Sequential External Counterpulsation in addition to combined TCM-WM has great advantage over treatment with combined TCM-WM or WM alone.

The experiment shows that high concentration of Aster tataricus plus Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch. can inhibit the tracheal systoliea caused by histamine, but for tracheal systoliea caused by acetylcholine the inhibition is indistinct. The experiment also shows that Aster tataricus, glycyrrhiza uralensis and Tussilago far fara L. combined have coordinated inhibiting effect on the tracheal systoliea caused by histamine and acetylcholine.
