Objective: To investigate the impact of TGF-β3 on the chondrogenesis of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) under hypoxia environment. Methods: BM-MSCs were obtained from SD rat tibias and femora and cultured with whole bone marrow adherent method. Cell surface antigens were analyzed by flow cytometry and the multiple-directional differentiation capabilities were detected with special differentiation agents to affirm the reality of BM-MSCs. Under normoxia or hypoxia condition, BM-MSCs were induced with TGF-β3 or not. Then, alcian blue and immunofluorescence staining were performed to evaluate the expression level of aggrecan, collagen Ⅱ. qRT-PCR analysis were performed to analyze the expression of aggrecan, collagen Ⅱ and collagen Ⅹ. qRT-PCR and Western blot analysis was performed to detect the mRNA and protein level of HIF-1α, collagenⅡ and β-catenin. Results: BM-MSCs were fibroblast-like shape and had ablities of osteogeic, adipogenic and chondrogenic differentiation, with the expression of CD(29, )CD(44) and CD(90) but not CD(45). Alcian blue and immunofluorescence staining showed that BM-MSCs strongly expressed the aggrecan and collagen Ⅱ with the presence of TGF-β3 under hypoxia condition. qRT-PCR analysis showed the mRNA expression levels of collagen Ⅱ, aggrecan and collagen Ⅹ were up-regulated at 2.46, 2.20 and 1.80 folds, comparing with control group (all P <0.05). Western blot analysis showed that the protein levels of HIF-1α, collagenⅡ in BM-MSCs were up-regulated with the presence of TGF-β3 under hypoxia condition, but β-catenin level was down-regulated. Conclusion: TGF-β3 promotes the chondrogenic differentiation ability of BM-MSCs under hypoxia condition, which may be relative with the inhibition of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.

Objective: To study the expression of the gene of myosin regulatory light chain-2 (MYL2) in the development of rat testis tissue., Methods: Using real-time PCR and immunohistochemistry, we determined the mRNA transcription level and protein expression of MYL2 in the rat testis., Results: The mRNA expression of the MYL2 gene changed in an age-dependent manner, reaching the highest value on postnatal day (PND) 2, then dropped rapidly till PND 8, increased slowly on PNDs 10 and 12, decreased on PND 14, rose slightly from PND 15 and rapidly on PNDs 20 and 25, and declined slowly from PND 65. Immunohistochemistry showed that the MYL2 protein was mainly expressed in testicular sperm cells., Conclusions: The MYL2 gene may be involved in the proliferation of spermatogonial stem cells and the process of sperm cells developing into mature sperm.

Compared with the monomer, aggregate exhibits unique features such as electron and energy transfer which can be understood with the study of absorption spectra. In the experimental the absorption spectra of lutein monomer in ethanol solution and aggregate in 1∶1 aqueous ethanol solution are detected by utilizing UV-lVis spectrophotometer. The vibration structure of excited state of lutein monomer is obtained with Gauss decomposition of the absorption spectra. Theoretically, the molecular parameters of excitation energy, vibration frequency of characteristic mode, Huang-Phys factor are calculated by means of simulation of the monomer absorption spectra described by temporal correlation function and Frenkel exciton model. The spectral calculation of the lutein aggregate is conducted by using these parameters and then the factors of the spectral changes affected by the aggregate structure are analyzed. Some conclusions are drawn from the analysis: (1) The absorption peak position of the aggregate is determined mainly by intermolecular interaction. The calculation shows that the interaction is about 2 000 cm-1 according 77 nm blue shift of absorption spectra from experiment result. (2) With the increase of molecular number of the aggregate the half-width of the absorption spectra decreases and the peak position blue shift slightly due to enhanced cooperation effect. (3) Disorder degree from environment has great influence on half-width for the greater disorder degree the larger half-width. The results of this paper will provide a theoretical reference for the further study of lutein aggregate function in biological and materials systems.

The effect of temperature on the orientation of pigment in PSII was studied by the fluorescence excitation spectra and polarization fluorescence spectra of spinach thylakoid solution. The experimental results showed that in the temperature range of 15-45 degrees C the absorption band of chl a at 436 nm at room temperature red-shifted with increasing temperature. The excitation spectra intensity reached the maximum at the temperature of 35 degrees C, but greatly reduced with temperature at 65 and 78 degrees C. In the polarization fluorescence spectra the fluorescence peak of PSII didn't change with temperature from 15 to 45 degrees C. It was also found that the calculated fluorescence polarization degree increased with the temperature in the entire temperature range. The analysis indicated that temperature would affect the orientation of the pigments in PSII and the coupling strength between pigments so to change photosynthetic efficiency. The results will give a certain reference for the study of the energy absorption and transmission, regulation mechanism and also on solar cell materials.

The nanostructured CePO4 with monoclinic phase was controllably synthesized through a low temperature hydrothermal route by varying the reactant PO4(3-)/Ce(3+) molar ratio. The structures, morphologies, sizes and luminescence properties of the products were studied by XRD, FE-SEM, DSC-TG and photoluminescence spectra. With the PO4(3-)/Ce(3+) molar ratios increased, the synthesis temperature of as-synthesized monoclinic CePO4 was decreased, and the morphologies underwent the evolution from the rod-like nano-structures to the flower-like nanoclusters. When the PO4(3-)/Ce(3+) molar ratio was lower, CePO4 nanorods were obtained, while the PO4(3-)/Ce(3+) molar ratio was higher, the monoclinic CePO4 flower-like nanoclusters were crystallized. The photoluminescence spectrum showed that the CePO4 nanorods exhibit better photoluminescent property than the CePO4 flower-like nanoclusters. With the cycling use of phosphoric acid, the low-cost preparation of CePO4 could be achieved.

The paper studied the relationship between the resected length above and below the esophageal carcinoma and positive rate of the residual carcinoma in the resected rims. The positive rates of the carcinoma were 65.0%, 17.2%, 12.3%, 10.6%, 6.7%, 5.8%, 4.0%, 3.1%, 2.0%, 0.9% and 0% respectively while the length of the resected esophagus above and below the carcinoma was 1-10 cm and 10 cm respectively. The results shown that it would be the best for all patients with esophaged carcinoma to resect esophagus more than 10 cm in length above and below the carcinoma respectively.
