The purpose of the experiment was to investigate the effect of fresh Cajanus cajan leaf powder on the growth performance, breeding economic benefits, slaughtering performance, meat quality, and intestinal microorganisms of finishing pigs. Twenty-four healthy Hainan black pigs with similar weights in the same batch were randomly divided into four groups, with six replicates in each group and one pig in each replicate. The pigs in the control group were fed a basal diet, and the experimental group B, group C, and group D were supplemented with 10%, 15%, and 20% fresh Cajanus cajan leaf powder in the basal diet, respectively. The pre-test period was seven days, and the formal test period was 270 days. The results showed that compared with the control group, the average daily feed intake of finishing pigs in the experimental groups decreased significantly (P<0.05), and the average daily gain and final weight of finishing pigs in the experimental group D decreased significantly (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, experimental group B, and experimental group D, the breeding profit of the experimental group C increased by 6.36%, 5.68%, and 9.99%, respectively. Compared with the control group, the backfat thickness of finishing pigs in the experimental groups decreased significantly (P<0.05), the meat color score of the experimental groups increased significantly (P<0.05), and the pH24 h value of pork in the experimental group B and group C increased significantly (P<0.05). The content of total amino acids, total essential amino acids and flavor amino acids in the longissimus dorsi muscle of the experimental groups increased significantly (P<0.05). The content of saturated fatty acids in the experimental group C and group D decreased significantly (P<0.05), the content of monounsaturated fatty acids and unsaturated fatty acids increased significantly (P<0.05), and the content of polyunsaturated fatty acids increased significantly in the experimental group D (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the relative abundance of Bacteroides in the experimental group B increased (P<0.05), while the relative abundance of Proteobacteria in the experimental group B and group C decreased (P<0.05). At the genus level, the relative abundance of Escherichia-shigella in the experimental groups decreased (P<0.05). The study indicates that adding fresh Cajanus cajan leaf powder to the diet can improve slaughter performance, meat quality, and flavor of fattening pigs, optimize intestinal microbial structure, reduce fat deposition and relative abundance of harmful bacteria, and adding 15% fresh Cajanus cajan leaf powder was the best. Hyperbranched polymers (HBPs) are a new kind of polymers used as modifiers of epoxy resins to increase their strength and toughness without affecting the processability. The influence of some HBPs on the physical properties and thermal resistance of epoxy resin was summarized in this paper, including four parts:hyperbranched polyether as an epoxy modifier, hyperbranched polyamide/polyimide/polyethyleneimine as an epoxy modifier, hyperbranched polysiloxanes as an epoxy modifier and other hyperbranched polymers as an epoxy modifier. Then the drawback of hyperbranched polymers used as modifiers of epoxy resins was revealed. In addition, more and more fascinating materials and devices based on hyperbranched polymers will be successfully developed and fabricated in the future. The main limitation of the HBPs in the field of epoxy resin modification is that the synthesis steps of most HBPs are cumbersome. Thus, in the future, with the advent of simpler, greener synthetic methods, HBPs will be more widely used in other emerging fields and modified resins.

A transfer function was set up on the model of the thrust and thrust vector measuring platform for trajectory/attitude control rocket engine by using the principle of the mode-testing method to decouple the matrix. The finite-element analysis was used to evaluate the natural frequency. By using the mode-testing method, a more precise test of the measuring platform was done in order to get the natural frequency, damping ratio, principal modes of vibration and residual under 4 kHz of the measuring platform in the actual installation estate, which proved the validity of the finite-element analysis and the reasonableness of the measuring platform system. By using the model to analyze the influence on measure results of system parameters on MATLAB/Simulink environment, and experiment in the actual installation estate, the accuracy of the transfer function is proved. Nontraumatic avascular necrosis of the femoral head(NANFH) is a common and refractory femoral head disease that causes bone death due to interruption of blood supply. Early clinical symptoms are atypical, such as hip pain and limited joint function. In the late stage, severe pain, shortening of the affected limb, claudication, and other serious symptoms are common, which se-riously affects the quality of life of patients. Therefore, it is of great significance to actively improve the clinical symptoms of NANFH to enhance the quality of life of patients. The pathogenesis of NANFH is complex, such as traumatic vascular circulatory disorders, the use of hormones or other drugs, alcoholism, and diabetes mellitus. These factors directly or indirectly lead to femoral head vascular damage, thrombosis, and coagulation system disorders, which reduce the blood supply to the acetabulum and femoral head, thus causing ischaemic death of the femoral head or even femoral head collapse. NANFH is mainly categorized as &quot;bone impotence&quot; and &quot;bone paralysis&quot; in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM). The treatment of NANFH with TCM has the characteristics and advantages of a long history, stable and reliable therapeutic effect, fewer adverse reactions, good patient tolerance, and high acceptance. Previous studies have shown that the promotion of angiogenesis is a key initiative in the prevention and treatment of NANFH, and TCM can promote fe-moral head angiogenesis by interfering with the expression of angiogenesis-related factors, which in turn can help to restore the blood supply of the femoral head and thus improve clinical symptoms of NANFH and prevent and treat NANFH. This article described the roles of blood supply interruption and angiogenesis in NANFH and the accumulated knowledge and experience of TCM in NANFH and summarized the role of angiogenesis-related factors in NANFH and the research progress on TCM intervention, so as to provide an idea for the subsequent research and a new basis for the clinical application of TCM in the treatment of NANFH.

Objective: To system evaluate the clinical effect and safety of PFNA and InterTAN internal fixation methods for femoral intertrochanteric fracture., Methods: According to the Cochrane systemic analysis method, randomized controlled trials and quasi-randomized controlled trials which were about the comparison of PFNA and InterTAN for intertrochanteric fracture were collected from Cochrane Library(2017, issue 4), PubMed (January, 2003-May, 2017), Wanfang Med Online (January, 2003-May, 2017) and China Academic Journals Full-text Database(January, 2003-May, 2017) by computer searching. Cross-checking was done after assessing the quality of the included trials and extracting the data by two reviewers independently. Data analysis were performed with RevMan 5.3., Results: Two randomized controlled trials and five quasi-randomized controlled trials involving 611 cases met the inclusion criteria. The meta-analyses showed no significant differences between the two methods on Harris scores[MD=-1.00, 95%CI(-2.29, 0.28), P =0.13], union time[MD=0.04, 95%CI (-0.70, 0.77), P =0.92], full weight-bearing time[MD=1.06, 95%CI(-0.29, 2.42), P =0.13], hospital stay[MD=-0.04, 95%CI (-0.52, 0.45), P =0.89] and length of incision[MD=-1.00, 95%CI (-2.64, 0.65), P =0.23]. There were significant differences between the two methods on operative time[MD=-25.75, 95%CI (-37.47, -14.03), P <0.000 1], intraoperative blood loss[MD=-55.67, 95%CI(-108.07, -3.27), P =0.04] and the internal fixation complication rate[MD=4.17, 95%CI (1.33, 13.08), P =0.01]., Conclusions: Both PFNA and InterTAN could provide good effect for intertrochanteric fracture. The operation time of PFNA is shorter than that of InterTAN, and there is less blood loss during operation. PFNA may be the first choice for the treatment of patients who have many complications and can't endure long-time operation. The complications of PFNA are more than those of InterTAN. In patients with long life expectancy and high requirements, InterTAN may be preferentially selected to reduce complications. Purpose: To establish a rat tibial osteoradionecrosis model and assess the model by observing clinical manifestation and histopathological examinations., Methods: The right tibia of 6 Sprague Dawley (SD) rats (weighing 200-250 g) was irradiated by a linear accelerator (single fraction 15 Gy, total dose 60 Gy) every second week for four times. Hair and cutaneous changes of the irradiated region were observed one, two, three and four weeks after irradiation, respectively. Histopathological examination was employed to compare the bone tissue between the irradiated region and irradiation-free region. X-ray film was taken to evaluate the bone destruction. SPSS13.0 software package was used for statistical analysis., Results: One week after irradiation, no significant change was observed in the irradiated region. However, the palm of the irradiated limb turned red remarkably in contrast with the opposite one. Two and three weeks after irradiation, trichomadesis was observed in the irradiated region. Four weeks after irradiation, complete trichomadesis and skin ulceration occurred in the irradiated region. In histopathological examinations, hematoxylin-eosin staining showed that bone mass including bone plate thickness, bone marrow cell, bone trabecula decreased significantly in the irradiated region compared with the control side. Moreover, significant bone destruction was found in irradiated group., Conclusions: We have successfully established a rat tibial model of osteoradionecrosis with radiation at dosage of 60 Gy divided into 4 times.

Objective: To study the applied value of double joystick technique in reduction-internal fixation for femoral shaft fracture in adults., Methods: Thirty-four patients (24 males and 10 females) with femoral shaft fractures were treated with reduction assisted by double joystick technique and internal fixation with interlocking intramedullary nail from September 2010 to June 2013. The average age of the patients was 41 years old, ranged from 17 to 65 years old. The duration of the disease course ranged from 3 to 7 days, with a mean of 5 days. The fractures belonged to AO types 32A (5 cases), 32B (20 cases) and 32C (9 cases) and located in left femur for 18 patients and right femur for 16 patients. The patients were followed up, and fracture healing and complications were observed. The curative effect were evaluated according to Thorsen femur fracture evaluation standard., Results: The operative time ranged from 40 to 110 min (mean 75 min) and intraoperative blood loss ranged from 200 to 300 ml (mean 250 ml). All the patients obtained a good fracture reduction and were followed up for 12 to 24 months (mean 18 months) after the surgery. All the fractures united between 4 and 8 months with a mean of 5 months. No complications such as breakage of nail, infection, osteofascial compartment syndrome, refracture and fracture malunion were found. According to Thorsen femur fracture evaluation standard, 30 patients obtained an excellent result, 3 good and 1 fair., Conclusion: In surgery of reduction-internal fixation for femoral shaft fracture in adults, the use of double joystick technique obtains good reduction result, short operative time, less injury, high healing rate of bone fractures, less complications and good limbs function, so it is worthy of popularizing in clinic.

Objective: To observe the distribution difference of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) signals in osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) patients of different TCM syndrome types., Methods: Recruited 29 ONFH patients were assigned to the tendon and vessel stagnation group (14 cases) and the Gan-Shen deficiency group (15 cases) according to TCM syndrome typing. The distribution difference of their MRI signals of MRIT1WI, T2WI + fs, T1 and T2 combined signal were compared., Results: There was statistical difference in T1W1 signal distribution between the two TCM syndrome types (P = 0.04). There was no statistical difference in T2WI + fs or T1 and T2 combined signal between the two TCM syndrome types (P = 0.42, P = 0.15). MRI signals in the tendon and vessel stagnation group were mainly manifested as fat-like signals,while they were mainly manifested as mixed signals in the Gan-Shen deficiency group., Conclusion: Distribution difference of MRI signals exists between ONFH patients of different TCM syndrome types.

In the present article, a 2-year maize field experiment for the whole growth period was conducted. Hyperspectral data and chlorophyll contents (SPAD) of maize leaves were measured respectively using portable spectrometer and SPAD-502 chlorophyll meter. Various spectral parameters were selected to build construct prediction models for maize leaf SPAD in annual growth periods based on correlation analysis of the two factors, and detailed validation and evaluation were made. The results showed that there was little difference between the mean curves of spectral reflectance or its first derivative in the two years; the sensitive areas were basically the same about the correlation coefficient curves of leaf SPAD and spectral reflectance or its first derivative; prediction models built with spectral parameters based on first derivative were unstable; prediction models built with LCI, DSI(R(550around), R(680around)) and DSI(R(680around), R(710around)) were all in good conditions, and maize leaf SPAD could be effectively predicted.

Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy of 3 different treatment programs for oligospermia patients of Shen-essence deficiency syndrome (SEDS)., Methods: Totally 450 male patients were randomly assigned to 3 groups, i.e., the treatment group, the control group 1, and the control group 2, 150 in each group. Patients in the treatment group were treated by Bushen Yijing Decoction (BYD), tamoxifen tablet (TT), Licorzine Capsule (LC), and Vitamin E Soft Capsule (VESC). Those in the control group 1 were treated by BYD, LC, and VESC. Those in the control group 2 were treated by TT, LC, and VESC. All patients were treated for 3 months. Their pregnant rates were compared. Clinical efficacies of each Chinese medical symptom and sperm parameters [sperm density, grade a sperm motility rate, grade (a + b) sperm motility rate, grade (a + b + c) sperm motility rate, and normal sperm morphology rate] were compared before and after treatment., Results: At 3 months after treatment 61 patients were pregnant in the treatment group, 36 patients were pregnant in the control group 1, and 30 patients were pregnant in the control group 2. The differences in the sperm density, grade a sperm motility rate, and grade (a + b) sperm motility rate, and grade (a + b + c) sperm motility rate between before and after treatment were significantly higher in the treatment group than in the control group 1 and the control group 2 (P < 0.01). The difference in the normal sperm morphology rate between before and after treatment was obviously higher in the treatment group and the control group 1 than in the control group 2 (P < 0.01). Better results were obtained in the treatment group and the control group 1 in improving the sexual apathy, soreness and weakness of waist and knees, impotence, premature ejaculation, seminal emission, dizziness, tinnitus, forgetfulness, alopecia, when compared with the control group 2 (P < 0.01, P < 0.05). There was no statistical difference in the total effective rate of improving Chinese medical symptoms between the treatment group and the control group 1 (P > 0.05)., Conclusion: BYD combined with TT, LC, and VESC could significantly improve sperm qualities and clinical Chinese medical symptoms of oligospermia patients of SEDS.

Objective: To assess the clinical features and therapeutic effect of free thin anterolateral thigh flap for the reconstruction of intraoral defects., Methods: The clinicopathologic data of 34 cases with oral carcinoma were obtained from Institute and Hospital of Stomatology, Nanjing University Medical School, from December 2008 to December 2011. These 34 patients underwent the simultaneous tumor resection and intraoral defects reconstruction with free thin anterolateral thigh flaps. The defects were located at tongue, buccal, mouth floor, and so on. The subcutaneous fat thickness of the flap at the site of the perforator is usually measured by ultrasound before the operation. If the thickness of the subcutaneous fat at the site of the perforator exceeded 1.5 cm, the patient was excluded from the study., Results: There were 16 male and 18 female patients. The mean age was 55.4 years. Among the 34 patients, 26 flaps with musculocutaneous perforators and 8 flaps with septo-cutaneous perforators were used. Partial flap necrosis occurred in 2 patients., Conclusions: The free thin anterolateral thigh flap is the ideal soft tissue flap for the intraoral defects reconstruction. Satisfactory functional results can he achieved at recipient area with minimal morbidity at the donor site area.

In order to investigate the effects of nitrogen addition on the red soil microbial communities in Cinnamomum camphora plantation, three treatments of nitrogen addition were designated as control (N0: 0 g x m(-2)), low nitrogen (N1: 5 g x m(-2)) and high nitrogen (N2 :15 g x m(-2)). Soil microbial numbers, microbial biomass carbon (C), biomass N and microbial community functional diversity were analyzed using the methods of plate counting, chloroform fumigation and BIOLOG system, respectively. The results showed that the numbers of bacteria in N1 and N2 were significantly higher than the control 1 month after nitrogen addition, but significantly lower than the control 13 months after nitrogen addition, and the number of fungi and actinomycetes were not significantly changed after nitrogen addition. The soil microbial biomass C, N increased with the increase of nitrogen at 1 month, but the soil microbial biomass C increased significantly 13 months after nitrogen addition when compared with 1 month after nitrogen addition. The soil microbial biomass N was lower 13 months after nitrogen addition when compared with 1 month after nitrogen addition, but the difference was not significant (P > 0.05). The variation of the carbon utilization efficiency of soil microbial communities was resulted from the nitrogen addition. The indices of Shannon index, Simpson index and McIntosh index were calculated to show the differences in nitrogen treatments and in times, which turned out to be insignificant.

In the present study, a 2-year maize field experiment with different fertilizer dose was conducted. The spectral response sensitive area of maize leaves in different levels was discussed using hyperspectral technology at booting stage. Based on the correlation analysis of original reflectivity and its first derivation with maize leaf nitrogen contents, prediction models were constructed. The results indicated that under different fertilizer dose spectral response sensitive areas of maize leaves were in visible band around 550 and 761-1 300 nm; under different levels which was in visible band around 550 nm; maize leaf nitrogen contents were significantly correlated with spectral reflectance and its first derivative in 470-760 nm band. Through further comparison and selection, the index prediction models built with spectral indices DSI(564, 681) and DSI(681, 707) were the best prediction models, the prediction accuracy were 93.43% and 93.39%, therefore nitrogen content of maize leaves could be effectively estimated.

Objective: To examine the relationship between the duration of diet and the risk related to excess body weight in residents of Nanjing city., Methods: With multi-stage cluster random sampling method, a total number of 3376 local residents aged 30 and over in 7 communities from 2 urban districts were involved in this survey. Through diet balance index (DBI), nine dietary patterns were identified. Subjects with normal BMI in the baseline survey were selected to participate in the follow-up survey. Multiple linear regression and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to estimate the incidence risks on overweight and obesity., Results: Of 1898 eligible subjects with normal BMI in the baseline survey, 1347 of them completed the 3-year follow-up survey, with a follow-up rate of 71.0%. By multiple linear regression method, on average, an increase in DBI&#95;DQD of 1 unit was seen and associated with a 0.028 increase in BMI. DBI&#95;DQD were also associated with BMI (β = 0.022, P < 0.001) after adjusted for the covariates. By logistic regression, when compared with the group of healthy dietary pattern, the relative risk for excessive body weight was 1.37 for those with unhealthy dietary patterns. After adjusting the possible confounding factors, the excessive body weight was also associated with significantly increased risk (RR = 1.51, 95%CI: 1.09 - 2.09)., Conclusion: Results from this study provided evidence, showing that unhealthy dietary patterns could predict the increase risk of excessive body weight, suggesting that healthy dietary pattern was important in controlling the excessive body weight.

Objective: To investigate the association between dietary patterns and the risk of developing hyperglycemia in Nanjing., Methods: Using multi-stage stratified random cluster sampling, the baseline survey was conducted on local residents older than 30 years in 7 communities from 2 urban districts from June to September 2007 in Nanjing. The total eligible subjects were 3376. Excluding the 476 previously diagnosed hyperglycemia patients, 2900 non-hyperglycemia subjects were used as the baseline sample for the follow-up survey from June to September 2010. Using specially designed food frequency questionnaire (FFQ), factor analysis was applied to identify food patterns. Multivariable linear and Cox regression models were used to analyze the association between different dietary patterns and risk of hyperglycemia., Results: The follow-up rate was 72.2%, with 2093 subjects participated the follow-up survey in 3 years. Three-year cumulative incidence of hyperglycemia was 7.5% (158/2093). The incidence rate was 7.1% (62/873) for males and 7.9% (96/1220) for females, but the differences were not statistically significant (χ(2) = 0.43, P = 0.513). Five dietary patterns were identified by factor analysis: condiment, animal and plant protein, traditional healthy, sweet food and alcohol drinking. By multivariable linear regression, on average, an increase in traditional healthy pattern and sweet food pattern of 1 unit was associated with a -0.054, 0.050 mmol/L increase in fasting blood glucose, respectively, and the differences were both statistically significant (t = -2.38, 2.27, respectively, P values were both less than 0.05). By multivariable Cox regression, the pattern sweet food was positively significantly associated with hyperglycemia risk in men. The incidence of hyperglycemia was 4.7% (14/295) for the lowest tertile of the factor score (T1), and 9.7% (26/269) for the highest tertile of the factor score (T3) (T3:T1: RR = 1.88, 95%CI: 1.04 - 3.54). The pattern traditional healthy was inversely associated with hyperglycemia risk in women. The incidence of hyperglycemia was 10.7% (45/421) for T1 and 6.3% (21/335) for T3 (T3:T1: RR = 0.59, 95% CI: 0.35 - 0.99). Conversely, a statistically significant positively association was observed for the pattern alcohol drinking in women. The incidence of hyperglycemia was 8.1% (38/472) for T1 and 11.1% (33/297) for T3 (T3:T1: RR = 1.35, 95%CI: 0.84 - 2.16)., Conclusion: Dietary patterns are associated with hyperglycemia. The sweet food pattern is a risk factor for hyperglycemia in men. In women, healthy dietary pattern is healthy and the alcohol drinking pattern is a risk factor for hyperglycemia.

Objective: To observe the availability and security of optimal compliance strategy to titrate the optimal positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP), compared with quasi-static pressure-volume curve (P-V curve) traced by low-flow method., Methods: Fourteen patients received mechanical ventilation with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) admitted in intensive care unit (ICU) of Tianjin Third Central Hospital from November 2009 to December 2010 were divided into two groups(n = 7). The quasi-static P-V curve method and the optimal compliance titration were used to set the optimal PEEP respectively, repeated 3 times in a row. The optimal PEEP and the consistency of repeated experiments were compared between groups. The hemodynamic parameters, oxygenation index (OI), lung compliance (C), cytokines and pulmonary surfactant-associated protein D (SP-D) concentration in plasma before and 2, 4, and 6 hours after the experiment were observed in each group., Results: (1) There were no significant differences in gender, age and severity of disease between two groups. (2)The optimal PEEP [cm H(2)O, 1 cm H(2)O=0.098 kPa] had no significant difference between quasi-static P-V curve method group and the optimal compliance titration group (11.53 ± 2.07 vs. 10.57 ± 0.87, P>0.05). The consistency of repeated experiments in quasi-static P-V curve method group was poor, the slope of the quasi-static P-V curve in repeated experiments showed downward tendency. The optimal PEEP was increasing in each measure. There was significant difference between the first and the third time (10.00 ± 1.58 vs. 12.80 ± 1.92, P < 0.05). And the optimal compliance titration method had good reproducibility as the optimal PEEP without significant difference in each measure. (3) After the quasi-static P-V curve traced, the heart rate (HR, bpm), temperature (centigrade), interleukin-6 (IL-6, ng/L), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α, ng/L), SP-D (μg/L) showed a gradually increasing tendency, the mean artery pressure (MAP, mm Hg, 1 mm Hg = 0.133 kPa), continuous cardiac index [CCI, L×min(-1)×m(-2)], OI (mm Hg), and C [ml/cm H(2)O] showed a gradually decreased tendency, all of these parameters reached the peak or trough at 6 hours after the experiment, and there was significance compared with those before experiment (HR: 117.34 ± 8.53 vs. 93.71 ± 5.38, temperature: 38.05 ± 0.73 vs. 36.99 ± 1.02, IL-6: 144.84 ± 23.89 vs. 94.73 ± 5.91, TNF-α: 151.46 ± 46.00 vs. 89.86 ± 13.13, SP-D: 33.65 ± 8.66 vs. 16.63 ± 5.61, MAP: 85.47 ± 9.24 vs. 102.43 ± 8.38, CCI: 3.00 ± 0.48 vs. 3.81 ± 0.81, OI: 62.00 ± 21.45 vs. 103.40 ± 37.27, C: 32.10 ± 2.92 vs. 49.57 ± 7.18, all P < 0.05). The results suggested that the drawing of quasi-static P-V curve would aggravate the lung injury. And in optimal compliance titration method group, there were no significant differences in HR, MAP, temperature, CCI, OI, C, cytokines and SP-D before and after titration., Conclusion: Optimal compliance titration method has good reproducibility, safety and usability.

Objective: To discuss the treatment of acute progressive cerebral infarction by continuous anticoagulation with small doses of heparin., Methods: A prospective, randomized, and controlled clinical research was conducted. Three hundred and fifty-one patients were randomly divided into three groups. Group A (n=119) was treated with heparin, which was controlled by an infusion pump with a speed of 18 U×kg(-1)×h(-1) for 24 hours, and the dosage was regulated according to the changes in activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) which was determined every 8 hours. Group B (n=115) was treated with intravenous drip of 12,500 U of heparin with a speed of 18 U×kg(-1)×h(-1) once a day. Group C (n=117) was treated with 5000 U of low-molecular-weight heparin calcium injection twice a day. After 14 days, nerve function defect according to the National Institutes of Heath stroke scale (NIHSS) score was determined, the adverse events (e.g. intracranial hemorrhage, subcutaneous ecchymosis, gingival bleeding, hematuria and occult blood in stools) were observed. After 6 months, the recurrence rate and Barthel index (BI) would be determined., Results: The total efficiency in group A (95.80%) was significantly higher than that in group B (85.22%) and group C (85.47%). Recurrence rate in group A (1.68%) was significantly lower than group B (8.70%) and group C (8.33%) with significant differences (P<0.05 or P<0.01), while there was no significant difference between group B and group C (both P>0.05). The BI of group A (89.27±8.56) was significantly higher than group B (72.57±9.77) and group C (71.66±9.37) with significant difference (both P<0.01), while there was no significant difference between group B and group C (P>0.05). Adverse event rate in group A (5.88%) was slightly higher than that of group B (3.48%) and group C (4.27%), but the difference was not significant (both P>0.05)., Conclusions: Continuous infusion of low dosage of heparin could significantly reduce neurologic impairment score in patients with progressive cerebral infarction, increase cure rate, reduce the recurrence rate, and raise the BI of patients, and it dose not increase the risk of intracranial and extracranial hemorrhage.

Objective: To assess the clinical features and therapeutic efficacy of anterolateral thigh (ALT) flaps for the intraoral defects reconstruction., Methods: The clinicopathologic data of 67 cases with oral tumors were obtained from School of Stomatology, Nanjing University Medical Center from Dec. 2008 to Dec. 2010. All the patients underwent the simultaneous tumor resection and intraoral defects reconstruction with free anterolateral thigh flaps. The defects included the tongue, buccal, gingival, mouth floor, and so on. The descending branch of lateral femoral circumflex artery was anastomosed to the external maxillary artery or superior thyroid artery; the vein was anastomosed to the common facial vein or external jugular vein. The flaps were divided into three types: musculocutaneous ALT flap, fasciocutaneous ALT flap and thinned ALT flap., Results: There were 38 male patients and 29 female. The anterolateral thigh flaps included 35 musculocutaneous flaps, 17 fasciocutaneous flaps and 15 thinned flaps. The success rate was 98.5% (66/67). Partial necrosis happened in one case with diabetes, which healed after debridement and dressing. 1 flap was totally necrosis. Double venous anastomosis was performed in 41 flaps, and one venous anastomosis was performed in 26 flaps. 8 patients required operative exploration in the perioperative period including 6 flaps with thrombotic events (5 flaps were complete survival after the salvages, and 1 flap was failure) , 1 flap with hematoma, and 1 flap with twisting of perforator. The follow-up period ranged from 2 to 24 months( mean, 8.7 months). The result was satisfied. The donor sites were closed directly in all patients, and the wounds healed uneventfully., Conclusions: The free anterolateral thigh flap is an ideal soft tissue flap for the intraoral defects reconstruction with good functional result at recipient area and less morbidity at the donor site.

Objective: To assess the clinical efficacy and safety of three different methods of anesthesia during transrectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsy., Methods: From July 2006 to October 2008, a total of 120 patients who underwent 12-core prostate biopsy with transrectal ultrasound guidance because of elevated prostate specific antigen and/or abnormal digital rectal examination were randomized into 4 groups, each group consisted of 30 patients. Group A received no anesthesia. Group B received an injection of 10 ml dose of 1% lidocaine (5 ml per side) into the region of the prostatic vascular pedicle at the prostate base just lateral to the junction between the seminal vesicle and prostate on each side for periprostatic nerve block (PNB). Group C received intrarectal lidocaine gel plus PNB. Group D received an injection of 4 ml dose of 1% lidocaine (2 ml per side) into 2 sites of the right and left sides of prostate for intraprostatic anesthesia plus PNB. The efficiency of anesthesia was assessed by a visual analog pain scale (VAS). All patients were followed up within one week for the evaluation of complications., Results: The combination of intraprostatic anesthesia and PNB provided significantly better pain control than PNB alone. According to VAS, only group C (2.7 +/- 1.1) scores showed significantly better pain control than other groups (P < 0.05) during probe insertion, and only group D (3.9 +/- 1.3) scores showed significantly better pain control than other groups (P < 0.05) during biopsy. No difference was observed regarding the complications rate in the 4 groups (P > 0.05)., Conclusions: Combination of intraprostatic anesthesia and PNB is effective and safe technique during transrectal ultrasound guided prostate biopsy without increasing the incidence of complications. PNB or PNB plus intrarectal lidocaine gel couldn't significantly reduce pain during biopsy.

Objective: To explore the value of circulating galactomannan (GM) screening for early diagnosis and treatment monitoring of invasive aspergillosis (IA)., Methods: Serum samples from 141 IA patients for the detection of GM by Platelia Aspergillus (Bia-Rad) were collected before and after systematic anti-fungal therapy., Results: (1) An increase in the clinical diagnosis rate of IA was obtained on the result of GM detection. The GM positivity appeared (10+/-4.1) (8-15) d before positive sputum culture, while (12.6+/-5.7) (6-22) d before the CT positive image. (2) Among the 62 patients with consecutive serum samples, 50 were success in treatment and 12 died. A progressive decrease of GM level was found in the former group, while the rising antigen titres were found in the latter., Conclusion: Compared with other diagnostic test, GM test has an obvious advantage of higher positivity and earlier result. The anti-fungal effectiveness can be estimated by dynamic detection of serum GM.

Background and Objective: Open adrenalectomy has been almost replaced by mini-invasive laparoscopic surgery. There are two popular mini-invasive laparoscopic adrenalectomy approaches: retroperitoneal and transperitoneal approaches. This study was to summarize our experience in transperitoneal laparoscopic adrenalectomy., Methods: In total 371 cases undergoing transperitoneal adrenalectomy in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from February 2003 to August 2008 were reviewed retrospectively. There were 127 cases of primary hyperaldosteronism adenoma, 117 cases of Cushing's adenoma, 58 cases of phaeochromo-cytoma, 37 cases of incidentoma and 32 cases of other types. The type of adrenal diseases, operating time, blood loss, complications and prognosis were summarized and the operating method was analyzed., Results: Three hundred and sixty-five out of 371 patients (98.4%) were successfully operated, five cases (1.4%) were transferred to open surgery, and one patient gave up surgery due to extensive invasion. The operating time was 40-240 min (average, 70 min). The blood loss was 20-1000 ml (average, 80 ml). Two patients suffered from diaphragm injuries, one patient had right renal vein injury and one had colon injury. The mean time of hospital stay was five days., Conclusion: Transperitoneal laparoscopic adrenalectomy is one of the favorable approaches for the treatment of adrenal neoplasm.

The objective of this study was to explore the useful value of circulating galactomannan (GM) for early diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis. All 141 patients were classified as 103 patients of clinical and possible diagnosis, and 38 non-Aspergillus patients. 209 serum samples for the detection of GM by Platelia Aspergillus were collected before anti-fungal vaccine therapy. ELISA method was used in detection of GM. The results showed that (1) the sensitivity of 87.5%, specificity of 81.6%, positive prediction of 66.7% and negative prediction of 93.9% were determined by using cut-off value. According to the result of ELISA, the clinical diagnosed patients was up to 48, while the possible diagnosed patients were 55. (2) Among 62 patients with consecutive examinations of serum samples, 50 patients were successfully diagnosed and treated, while 12 patients died. A progressive reduction of GM level was found in survivors, however, the patients of poor prognosis showed higher antigen titres. It is concluded that GM test has more significance for earlier diagnosis of aspergillosis, the concentration of GM is related to prognosis of disease.

This study was purposed to investigate the effects of rat marrow mesenchymal stem cell (rMSC) transplantation on left ventricular (LV) function in a rat myocardial infarction model. Myocardial infarction was performed in male Lewis rats by ligating the proximal left coronary artery. Rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: sham operation group (only thoracotomy, n = 8), AMI group (DF12 injection, n = 10), rMSC group (Dil-Labeled rMSC transplantation). At 8 weeks later, the cardiac functions including left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), left ventricular end systolic pressure (LVESP), left ventricular end diastolic pressure (LVEDP), +dp/dtmax and -dp/dtmax were evaluated by echocardiography and cardiac catheterization. The presence and differentiation of engrafted cells were assessed. CD31 was detected by immunohistochemical staining to demonstrate neovascular formation. The results indicated that the cultured in vitro rMSC expressed CD90, CD44, CD105, CD54; did not express CD34, CD45, CD31, as compared with AMI group, rMSC group showed a significant increase of LVEF, LVESP, +dp/dtmax, -dp/dtmax and a significant decrease of LVEDP. Immunofluorescence demonstrated that some transplanted rMSCs were positive for myosin, suggesting that small number of transplanted rMSCs differentiated into cardiac-like cells. Immunostaining showed marked augmentation of capillary density in the rMSC group than that of AMI group. It is concluded that transplanted rMSCs can differentiate into cardiac-like cells and rMSC transplantation can improve LV function after myocardial infarction in rats.

Objective: To explore whether the increase of body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), and waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) can predict a higher risk of developing hyperglycemia., Methods: A population-based cross-sectional study was conducted on local residents above 35 years of age in three urban districts and one rural county in July 2004. The subjects who were non-hyperglycemia in the baseline survey were selected to follow the survey in July 2007. Multivariable logistic regression analysis and area under curve (AUC) of receiver-operating characteristics (ROC) were used to evaluate the predictive value of BMI, WC, WHR and WHtR., Results: Of 3727 subjects without hyperglycemia who had completed in the baseline survey, 3031 of them participated in the follow-up survey, with a follow-up rate of 81.3%. The Three-year cumulative incidence of hyperglycemia was 6.7%, with male 6.3% and female 7.0%. By multiple linear regression, on average, an increase in BMI, WC, WHR, WHtR of 1 unit was associated with a 0.015 mmol/L, 0.023 mmol/L, 1.923 mmol/L, 2.382 mmol/L increase in fasting plasma glucose, respectively. The risk of developing hyperglycemia increased along with the increase of all the four indexes. When compared with other three indexes, the group which WHtR was more than 0.5, had the highest risk (male OR = 1.998, 95% CI: 1.231-3.212, female OR = 1.832, 95% CI: 1.157-2.902) of developing hyperglycemia. Data from ROC curve analysis showed that the AUC of WHtR was the highest in both males and females., Conclusion: The increase of BMI, WC, WHR and WHtR could predict the higher risk causing the development of hyperglycemia. WHtR might serve as a simple but most effective index of hyperglycemia.

Objective: To investigate the effect of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) on the differentiation, formation and function of the dendritic cell (DC) in peripheral blood of patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC)., Methods: Flow cytometry was used to detect the number of DC in peripheral blood of 81 patients with OSCC, and ELISA applied to test serum VEGF concentration the OSCC patients, and immunohistochemistry used to observe the expression of VEGF in primary foci of 57 patients with OSCC. DC from CD-14 peripheral blood mononuclear cells were cultured with VEGF(165) in vitro to investigate the cytokine's effect on DC., Results: In comparison with controls [(325.70 +/- 117.54) ng/L], the level of serum VEGF [(764.33 +/- 263.64) ng/L] was significantly increased (P < 0.01) and the DC numbers was significantly decreased (P < 0.01) in patients with OSCC. There was a negative correlation between serum VEGF concentration and the level of DC (P < 0.01). The expression of VEGF in primary focus was positively correlated with serum VEGF concentration, but was negatively correlated with the level of peripheral blood DC (P < 0.01). DC cultured in vitro with VEGF(165) decreased the expression of CD-1a, CD-40, CD-80, CD-86, CD-83, HLA-DR, and revealed a lower ability of stimulating T lymphocyte proliferation but a higher ability of uptake, compared to controls., Conclusions: The overexpressed VEGF in patients with OSCC might be one of the important reasons for blocking the differentiation and maturation of DC.

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of reverse island skin flaps with sural nerve and blood supplying vessels on repair of tissue defect of lower leg and foot., Methods: Fifty-six patients with lower leg and foot tissue defects were hospitalized from June 1997 to August 2007. Among them, 10 patients suffered from soft tissue defect of lower leg; 38 patients suffered from wound infection, exposure of fracture of tibia and fibula, and osteonecrosis; 8 patients suffered from heelstick tissue defect, bone adhering scar, and osteomyelitis. The defects were repaired with sural nerve and blood vessel nourished reverse island skin flaps (46 cases) and myocutaneous flaps (10 cases). The size of flaps ranged from 5 cm x 4 cm to 22 cm x 16 cm. Flap donor sites were closed by direct suture or free skin grafting., Results: Flaps in 55 cases survived. Patients were followed up 3-6 months, there was no complication, and they were healed with satisfactory texture and appearance. The patients could walk normally, but with unsatisfactory sensory recovery. In one patient, the flap was broken and ulcerated 1 month after operation on account of leaving behind necrotic tibia. It was healed after second operation., Conclusions: Sural nerve and blood vessel nourished reverse island skin flap or myocutaneous flap transplantation is an effective treatment for repair of soft tissue defect of lower leg and foot.

Objective: To explore the effect of focal-adhesion micromanipulation on the biological behavior of fibroblast., Methods: Micro-pot was made by microcontact printing. The molecules of constitutive protein was adhered on micro-pot by self-assemble of peptides. Skin fibroblasts were cultured on the membrane by self-made biomechanical cell culture for 2 weeks. Morphology observation and cell immunohistochemistry analysis was performed., Results: After 2 weeks, the morphology of the fibroblasts was diverse and more compliant. Cell immunohistochemistry analysis found that the expression of integrinbeta1, alpha5 and tensin was dramatically reduced., Conclusions: The morphology and the biological behaviour of the fibroblasts in hypertrophic scar can be changed after micromanipulation of focal adhesion.

The study was purposed to investigate the differentiation ability of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) into myocardial cells in vitro. Rat bone marrow-derived MSCs were labeled and co-cultured with neonatal rat cardiomyocytes (CM) for 5 - 7 days. The expression of cell surface antigens was detected by flow cytometry, and the expression of muscle-specific marker myosin and troponin T in labeled cells was detected by immunofluorescence. The results showed that in vitro cultured MSCs expressed CD90, CD44, CD105, CD54, not expressed CD34, CD45, CD31. After co-cultured with neonatal rat CM, labeled MSCs differentiated into cardiomyocyte-like cells expressing myosin and troponin T. It is concluded that MSCs can differentiate into cardiomyocyte-like cells when co-cultured with neonatal myocardial cells in vitro. In co-culture of two kind of cells in ratio of four to one showed obvious efficacy differentiating MSCs into CMs.

Objective: To observe therapeutic effects of different needling methods at Neiguan (PC 6) on hand spasm in the patient of stroke., Methods: One hundred and seventy-two cases were randomly divided into a simple acupuncture group (n=36), a slowly twirling needle group (n = 34), a rapidly twirling needle group (n = 30), a simple lifting-thrusting group (n = 35) and a lifting-thrusting-twirling needle group (n = 37). Acupuncture was given at Neiguan (PC 6), twice each day, 5 min each time, and in combination with rehabilitation exercise. Modified Ashworth scale and Fugl-Meyer (FMA) hand function score were used for assessment of therapeutic effects., Results: The transient effective rate and the effective rate after treatment for 8 weeks for hand spasm were 66.7% and 55.6% in the simple acupuncture group, 82.4% and 85.3% in the slowly twirling needle group, 96.7% and 90.0% in the rapidly twirling needle group, 80.0% and 82.9% in the simple lifting-thrusting group and 94.6% and 91.9% in the lifting-thrusting-twirling needle group, the rapidly twirling needle group and the lifting-thrusting-twirling needle group being better than other 3 groups (P<0.01). After treatment, the grades for Ashworth scale and FMA scores in the lifting-thrusting-twirling needle group and the rapidly twirling needle group were better than those in other 3 groups (P<0.05, P<0.01), with no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05)., Conclusion: Acupuncture at Neiguan (PC 6) has a very definite transient effect, and the lifting-thrusting-twirling needling manipulation and the rapidly twirling needling manipulation have the best inhibitive effect on spasm.

In order to analyze the incidence and high-risk factors of invasive fungal infections among recipients of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT), 180 cases of allo-HSCT were enrolled in this study. The incidence and risk factors of IFI were analyzed by method of Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression model. The results showed that an incidence of IFI in 35 cases (19.5%) were detected, with 1 case proven and 34 cases probably diagnosed, which was composed of 18 cases (51.4%) of aspergillosis and 17 cases (48.6%) of candidosis. There was significant difference in one-year overall survival rate between patients with (34.3%) or without (53.8%) IFI. In univariate analysis, risk factors of IFI included: pretransplant fungal infection or colonization, unrelated donor (peripheral blood or bone marrow stem cell) transplantation, acute GVHD, extensive chronic GVHD and the use of methylprednisolone. In multi-variate analysis, the following risk factors of IFI were found:unrelated donor for allogeneic peripheral blood or bone marrow stem cell transplantation, acute GVHD and pretransplant fungal infection or colonization acute GVHD (RR: 2.399, 1.589, and 0.836). It is concluded that IFI is a frequent complication and one of the leading causes of mortality among recipients of allo-HSCT. As for patients with higher risk of IFI, early interventions should be taken.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor (rhGM-CSF) hydrogel in wound healing in patients with deep partial thickness burn., Methods: The study was a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled parallel clinical trial. Three hundred and twenty-one patients (302 cases finally fulfilled the protocol) with deep partial thickness burn were divided into A group (n = 200, with treatment of rhGM-CSF hydrogel, 100 microg/10 g/100 cm2/d), C group (n = 102,with treatment of placebo). Side-effect, systemic condition, wound healing time, wound healing rate, and total effective rate at different time points were observed., Results: There were no obvious differences in vital signs, wound secretion, wound edge reaction, blood and urine routine, liver and kidney function between two groups (P > 0.05). No side-effect was observed. The median wound healing time was 17 days in A group, which was obviously shorter than that in C group (20 days, P < 0.01). The mean wound healing rate in A group was 24.5%, 70.5%, 95.3%, 99.6% respectively on 8th, 14th, 20th, 28th day after treatment, which were obviously higher than that in C group (15.1%, 51.4%, 84.6%, 97.1%, respectively, P < 0.01). The total effective rates in A group on 8th, 14th, 20th day after treatment were also higher than that in C group (P < 0.01)., Conclusion: rhGM-CSF hydrogel can significantly accelerate wound healing in patients with deep partial thickness burn with certain safety.

Objective: To study the relationship between the degree of neovascularization and non-healing wounds in scalded rats with diabetic mellitus., Methods: Sixty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control group (C, n = 30, with treatment of isotonic saline) and streptozocin (STZ)-induced diabetic group (D, n = 30, with treatment of STZ), and then they were inflicted with 20% TBSA deep partial thickness scald. Wound specimens were harvested immediately after scald and on 1, 3, 7, 10, 14, 21 post scald days (PSD) to observe histological changes, and wound healing rates were calculated. Degree of neovascularization in wound (labeled with blue microsphere) and the quantity of vascular endothelial cells (labeled with red CD31) were also measured by double-labeling immunofluorescence., Results: Compared with those in C group, Wound healing rate and histological value scores were lowered, and the degree of neovascularization was abated markedly at each time point. The degree of neovascularization in D group (12.00 +/- 1.40) was obviously lower than that in C group on 7 PSD (60.00 +/- 3.00, P <0.01). There was no obvious difference in the number of vascular endothelial cells in both groups, however, the majority of endothelial cells had not formed functional capillaries in D group., Conclusion: Vascular endothelial cell can proliferate actively with poor blood supply in diabetic nonhealing with deep partial-thickness scald wounds, but it is still poor in blood supply due to lack of functional capillaries.

Objective: To study the current situation of depression and anxiety from patients with hypertension as well as to provide reference for the development of control and prevention program., Methods: Participants older than 35-year including both hypertensive patients and healthy controls were randomly selected in 2 communities of Pukou district in Nanjing through Health Behavior Survey. All the subjects were assessed by the Zung's self-rating depression scale (SDS) and the Zung's self-rating anxiety scale (SAS)., Results: Raw score and index score of SDS and SAS were both significantly (P < 0.01) greater in hypertensive patients than in healthy control group. The prevalence of depression of 17.9% and anxiety of 9.5% in patient group were found significantly higher than that in healthy control group as 11.5% and 4.3%. Data from logistic regression model analysis showed that depression and anxiety were possible risk factors of hypertension (OR = 1.677, 95% CI: 1.013-2.776; OR = 2.451, 95% CI: 1.228-4.894). There was a combined effect seen between depression and anxiety (OR = 5.238, 95% CI: 2.356-11.664) but interaction did not appear., Conclusion: Depression and anxiety were possibly associated with hypertension and more attention needs to be paid to the mental health situation of hypertensive patients in order to improve their quality of life.

Objective: To assess the diagnostic value of alpha-glycosidase for epididymal lump induced obstructive azoospermia., Methods: Seventy-six infertile men with normal spermatogenic function were divided according to sperm density into a normal density group (n = 27), an oligospermia group (n = 21) and an obstructive azoospermia group (n = 28), and another 30 fertile males were included as normal controls. Semen plasma alpha-glycosidase, leucocyte count, sexual hormone levels and the diameters of the epididymal lumps were measured and their correlations were analyzed., Results: alpha-Glycosidase in the obstructive azoospermia group was significantly lower than that of the other groups (P <0.05), and negatively correlated with epididymal volume (r = -0.417, P <0.05) and leucocyte count (r = -0.342, P <0.05)., Conclusion: Alpha-Glycosidase has been proved of diagnostic value for epididymal obstructive azoospermia.

Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effect of silver nitrate ointment on partial-thickness burn wounds, and observe its side-effects., Methods: Multi-center, randomized, positive drug paralleled self-controlled trial was carried out. Eighty patients with superficial partial-thickness burns, and 40 with deep-partial thickness burns were randomized into AgNO3 group and SD-Ag group according to drug topically applied to the wounds. The wound healing time, wound healing rate and bacterial culture of the wound, the effect and safety of the drug, as well as drug irritation to the wounds were studied in these two groups., Results: For the patients with superficial partial-thickness burn wounds, the wound healing time in silver nitrate group was (9.5 +/- 2.7) days, which was obviously shorter than that in SD-Ag group [(10.8 +/- 3.4) days, P <0.01]. The wound healing rate in silver nitrate group on 7 post-burn day ( PBD) was (77.9 +/- 20.5)%, which was obviously higher than that in SD-Ag group [(67.3 +/- 22.6) %, P < 0.01]. For those with deep-partial thickness burn wounds, the wound healing time in silver nitrate group was (21.5 +/- 4.8) days, which was evidently shorter than that in SD-Ag group [(23.3 +/- 6.4) days, P <0.01]. The wound healing rate in silver nitrate group on 20 PBD was (86.6 +/- 15.9)%, which was evidently higher than that in SD-Ag group [(78.5 +/- 17.7)%, P < 0.01]. Silver nitrate ointment has the same antibacterial effect as 1% SD-Ag cream, but it was less painful when applied to the open wounds., Conclusion: Silver nitrate ointment is an effective and safe medicament for the clinical management of partial-thickness burn wounds.

Objective: To observe the influence on prognosis and possible side-effects of arginine in, Methods: Multi-center clinical trial, randomized double blinded patients with severe trauma and burns. and placebo control methods were employed in the study. Eighty-six patients with severe trauma and burns were randomly divided into control (C, n = 45) and arginine treatment (Arg, n = 41) groups. The patients in Arg group received arginine in dose of 0. 4 g x kg(-1) x d(-1) orally, while those in C group received same dose of placebo (tyrosine) for 7 days. All the patients in both groups were given diet with equal calories and equal nitrogen content. The changes in the wound healing time, hospital stay, and the incidence of side-effects of the medication in both groups of patients were observed and compared before and after the supplementation of arginine., Results: The wound healing time and hospital stay days of severe trauma patient in Arg group (n = 29) were 11. 1+/-2. 8 d and 19+/-6 d, which were all obviously shorter than those in C group (13. 2+/-5. 5 d, 22 +/-6 d, n =33, P <0.05). On the other hand, in severe burn patients there were no significant difference of the wound healing time (20+/-5 d vs 22+/-8 d, n = 12, P > 0. 05) and hospital stay days (28+/-6 d vs 29+/-8 d, n = 12, P >0. 05) between the Arg and C groups. In addition, in C and Arg groups, the occurrence of the side-effects were seldom (2. 44% vs 2. 22% , P = 1. 000) and it disappeared when the supplementation of drugs was stopped., Conclusion: Oral feeding of arginine is beneficial in enhancing wound healing, reduction of hospital stay days in severe trauma patients and with little side-effects, but it is not beneficial to improve the prognosis of severe burn patients. Maybe this is due to inadequate number of case involved in the study.

Gynogenesis was induced in two groups of Pseudosciaena crocea by the cool-shock and hydrostatic pressure method. The 24 fry in the gynogenetic families G1 and G2, 20 fry in their contrast groups and their parents were PCR amplified using 6 pairs of microsatellite marker primers LYC0002, LYC0003, LYC0013, LYC0012, LYC0004 and LYC0006 and analyzed. The results showed that the effect of cool-shock method, obtained a hatching rate of 35.3%, and a survival rate of 9.9% at 45 days, was obviously better than hydrostatic pressure method. Four pairs of primers could amplify clearly distinct parental bands. The results of primers LYC0012 and LYC0006 revealed no male gene in G1, suggesting they all derived from gynogenesis. Amplification using primers LYC0013 and LYC0004 in G2 revealed the presence of male genes in 3 individuals, suggesting they came from normal fertilization. The homozygosity ratio of the offspring from the two families was 87.5% and 76.2% and the average was 81.9%. They were 0 respectively in their contrast groups. The homozygous ratio of gene improved for 81.9% by gynogenesis. This study shows that gynogenesis is an effective method to promote gene purification In addition, microsatellite marker technique is an effective method of gynogenesis verification and genetic analysis.

Objective: To assess the reproductive toxicity exerted by formaldehyde to adult male rats and the functional mechanism therein in volved., Methods: Forty adult male rats were randomLy divided into 4 groups. One group served as control. The other 3 groups as exposure groups were intraperitoneally injected with formaldehyde at the dose of 0.10 mg/kg x d, 1.00 mg/kg x d, 10 mg/kg x d respectively and continuously for 14 days. The weight and morphology of testis, the quality and amount of sperm, and the serum hormone were examined. In addition, the apoptosis rate of testis tissue was examined by TUNEL and the expression of Fas gene in testis tissue by immunohistochemistry., Results: Compared with control, the weight of testis in the high-dose formaldehyde exposure group significantly decreased (P < 0.05); the convoluted tubules became atrophied, the layers of seminiferous epithelium decreased, the arrangement of seminiferous epithelium was in disorder in the medium- and high-dose formaldehyde exposure groups; the sperm count and sperm motility significantly decreased (P < 0.05), the percent of abnormal sperm significantly increased (P < 0.05)in the medium- and high-dose formaldehyde exposure groups; the serum testosterone content mildly decreased and the serum FSH and LH content mildly increased in the formaldehyde exposure groups, but no statistically significant difference was observed. Moreover, in comparison with control, the apoptosis rate and the expression of Fas gene increased in the testicular tissue of rats in the medium- and high-dose formaldehyde exposure groups (P < 0.05). The apoptosis rate was significantly correlated with the expression of Fas gene (r = 0.8832, P < 0. 05)., Conclusion: Formaldehyde exerts reproductive toxicity to adult male rats, and Fas-mediated apoptosis may be one of the functional mechanisms involved in the reproductive toxicity of formaldehyde.

Objective: To study the effects on the male reproduction in adult male rats and its mechanisms through simulated weightlessness using tail-suspension, in order to do a basic works of exploring the effects on human being's reproduction in outer space., Methods: Forty Spraque-Dawley adult male rats were randomly divided into four groups, two experimental groups and two control groups. Rats in the two experimental groups were tail-suspended for 14 d and 28 d respectively, then we examined the weight and morphology of testis, the quality and amount of sperm, also tested the serum hormone by radioimmunoassay and analyzed apoptosis rate of testicular cells by TUNEL in the experimental rats and control rats., Results: After tail-suspension, the weight of testis, the sperm count and sperm motility significantly decreased (P <0.05), while the apoptosis rate of testicular cells and the amount of abnormal sperm markedly increased (P <0.05). The content of testosterone significantly decreased (P <0.05), but the contents of FSH and LH mildly increased (P > 0.05). These changes were not significant between two experimental groups (P > 0.05). In addition, the seminiferous tubules became atrophy with the reduction of the layers of seminiferous epithelium, and sperm amount in lumens of seminiferous tubules decreased in experimental groups. The above were more remarkable in the 28 d experimental group., Conclusion: Simulating weightlessness has a harmful effect on reproduction of adult male rats. These may be caused by inducing apoptosis. The blocking apoptosis of testicular cells may be useful in improving the harmful effect.

Objective: To study the prevalence of depression and its major risk factors among high school students in Nanjing, China., Methods: A population-based cross sectional study was conducted between October 2004 and December 2004. 168 classes from 56 schools were randomly selected in thirteen administrative districts/counties of Nanjing, China. Data from a total number of 7161 eligible students including 71.0% from junior high school and 29.0% from senior high school students with 49.4% boys and 50.6% girls. Among them 47.6% from urban and 52.4% from rural area. The response rate was 92.5%., Results: The overall prevalence of depression was 14.8% in this sample which was higher in boys (16.4%) than in girls (13.0%). There was no significant difference between junior and senior high school students (14.6% vs. 15.4%) or between age groups and urban rural residence. The identified major risk factors would include: lack of interest on learning, unmet academic achievements, lack of self-estimated capability of competence, too much burden on learning, lack of close friends, badving relation with friends/relatives, indifferent attitude towards friends/relatives, status of parents employment, and family structure., Conclusion: The prevalence of depression was 14.8%, which was close to the figure in Asian-American high school students. More attention should be paid on the issue of mental health in high school students under the rapid transition of society, economy, life style and ideas in China.

Objective: To investigate the inhibitory effect of dendritic cells (DCs) on the growth of the implanted tongue squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) tumors in nude mice., Methods: Being induced from human peripheral blood monocytes (PBMCs) with rhGM-CSF, rhIL-4 and rhTNF-alpha, DCs were pulsed by Tca8113 cells lysates. Those DCs and T lymphocytes were co-cultured to induce specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs). Immunotherapy was then performed after those DCs and CTLs were implanted into the tumor-bearing nude mice., Results: DCs were induced from PBMCs with multiple cytokines. Compared with the control groups, the growth of tumors was significantly inhibited in the group that had been implanted with DCs and CTLs, and tumor doubling time also increased markedly (P < 0.05)., Conclusions: DCs function normally after being induced from human PBMCs with multiple cytokines; DCs pulsed with tumor cell lysates and CTLs co-cultured with those DCs have a significant anti-tumor immune activity in nude mice.

The indium tin oxide(ITO) glass was applied as the electrode to study the electrochemilumuinescent behavior of luminol on its surface. The experimental results indicated that it was an excellent electrode material for ECL of luminol with very high sensitivity. The detection limit of the luminol is as low as 10(-15) mol x L(-1) order of magnitude. Compared with the voltammetric behavior of luminol, it was revealed that both the two oxidation processes of luminol led to the emission of ECL on the surface of ITO glass,which was different from the ECL behavior of luminol on platinum electrode. Although the ECL intensity of first step oxidation of luminol was relative weak than that of the second step oxidation, it was profitable because it was a reversible process and more stable. It might be useful to fabricate the flow-cell of ECL based on its ECL activity and transparence for light. The influences of the electric parameters and the dissolved oxygen on luminol's ECL on the ITO glass, and the mechanism were also studied in the present paper.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of HSGJ on chronic allograft nephropathy (CAN) using standard rat model of CAN., Method: Renal transplantation was performed with Fisher rats as donors and Lewis rats as recipients. All the recipients were randomly divided into control group and medication groups (high and low dosage of HSGJ, fed every other day). After 16 weeks of treatment, renal function and the histological alteration of CAN were measured. The expression of the TGFbeta1 mRNA in the allograft was evaluated by real-time PCR., Result: The content of 24 h urine protein and the level of serum creatinine in the medication groups were significantly decreased (P < 0.01) as compared with control group, whereas the creatinine clearance was increased (P < 0.01). The degree of glomerular sclerosis and the Banff score of medication groups were lower than the control group respectively (P < 0.01), in consistent with decreased expression of the TGF 1mRNA., Conclusion: HSGJ can prevent the chronic allograft nephropathy and the mechanism may be related with its influence on the expression of the TGFbeta1.
