Objective To investigate the effect of blood pressure patterns on memory function in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). Methods A total of 68 PD patients were collected from the Department of Neurology of Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital (Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences) between August 2018 and July 2021. All patients received 24 h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) and were divided into reverse dipping group (n=17), reduced dipping group (n=30), normal group (n=17), and extreme dipping group (n=4) according to the reduction rate of nocturnal systolic blood pressure; nocturnal hypertension group (n=37) and non⁃nocturnal hypertension group (n=31) according to nocturnal blood pressure. Global cognitive function was assessed by Mini⁃Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA). Memory function was evaluated by Logical Memory Test (LMT), Auditory Verbal Learning Test (AVLT) and Digit Span Test (DST). Results Among the 4 groups with different blood pressure pattern, statistical significances were found in duration (χ2=8.599, P=0.035), AVLT imediate 3 (F=3.100, P=0.033) and AVLT delayed (χ2=7.828, P=0.050). Pairwise comparison showed that the duration was longer in the reverse dipping group (Z=4.224, P=0.043) and the normal group (Z=4.821, P=0.028) than in the reduced dipping group; the AVLT imediate 3 of the reverse dipping group was lower than that of the normal group (t=⁃2.028, P=0.048) and the extreme dipping group (t=⁃2.673, P=0.010); the AVLT imediate 3 of the reduced dipping group was lower than that of the extreme dipping group (t=2.554, P=0.013). Compared with non⁃nocturnal hypertension group, the morbidity of hypertension was higher (χ2=6.399, P=0.011) and the duration was longer (Z=⁃2.008, P=0.045) in the nocturnal hypertension group. There was no significant difference in memory function between 2 groups (P＞0.05, for all). Conclusions PD patients with reverse dipping blood pressure pattern are more likely to influence cognitive function, especially in memory function. Continuous blood pressure monitoring should be performed in PD patients.

By testing the parameters of graphite digestion instrument， the effects of graphite digestion method and microwave digestion method on the determination of total arsenic in rice were analyzed and compared.The results showed that the RSD of rice standard sample digested by graphite digestion method was 5.25%～6.86%， and the relative error between the test result and the standard value was 5.66%～7.55%. The RSD of rice standard sample digested by microwave digestion method was 8.67%～12.26%， and the relative error was 17.96%～21.7%. The accuracy and precision of graphite digestion method are higher than that of microwave digestion method.

To make an accurate estimation of leaf are index (LAI) based on machine learning methods and images from UAV, we compared the several mainstream machine learning methods for maize LAI prediction, such as Artificial Neural Network method (ANN), Gaussian Process Regression method (GPR), Support Vector Regression method (SVR), and Gradient Boosting Decision Tree (GBDT). For this purpose, field experiments that considering apply of different amount of organic fertilizer, different amount of inorganic fertilizer, different amount of crop residue, and different planting density were carried out. Based on these experiments, field campaign were conducted to obtain UAV multispectral images and LAI data at different growth stages in maize. Based on above data, firstly, correlation analysis was used to select LAI-sensitive spectral indices, and then the Partial Least Squares Regression method (PLSR) and ANN, GPR, SVR, GBDT were coupled to design the LAI prediction models, respectively, and their performance for LAI prediction were compared. The results showed that the LAI prediction model constructed by PLSR+GBDT method had the highest accuracy and the best stability. The models of R² and RMSE values were 0.90 and 0.25, and the verified R² and RMSE values were 0.90 and 0.29 during validation, respectively. The model based on PLSR+GPR model was followed, with R² and RMSE values of 0.86 and 0.30 during calibration, and R² and RMSE values of 0.89 and 0.29 during validation, respectively. Besides, it had faster training speed and could give the uncertainty of the prediction. The model designed by PLSR+ANN method had R² and RMSE values of 0.85 and 0.31 during calibration, and R² and RMSE values of 0.89 and 0.30 during validation, respectively. The model designed by PLSR+SVR method had R² and RMSE values of 0.86 and 0.32, and R² and RMSE values of 0.90 and 0.33, respectively. Therefore, PLSR+GBDT method and PLSR+GPR method are recommended as the optimal methods for designing maize LAI prediction models. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In view of the problem that the silicone encapsulant becomes soft after use on the LED lamp beads, the silicone encapsulant for LED lamp beads are characterized by X-ray fluoroscopy, morphology observation, element analysis comparison, thermal weight loss analysis, Fourier micro-infrared analysis, and gas-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. Compared with the unaged encapsulant, the aged encapsulant has bumps and swelling, whose surface is rougher and there are suspected particles floating out; content C is increased on the surface significantly, and content Si and 0 is reduced, and contains a small element CI; the infrared spectrum and GC-MS results show that the particles of inner and outer rubber and the aged encapsulant contain ester groups. It is inferred from above that 0-benzene plasticizer, methyl hexadecanoate and cis -9,10 - epoxyoctadecanoic methyl acid, in the outer and inner packaging adhesive migrate into the encapsulant, which makes it soft, resulting poor light-emitting and even dead lights. The results of the study show that the extraordinary characteristics for physical activity guidelines from both Australia and Canada includes as follows: creating the guidelines through the domination of the state and the synchronized collaboration of multiple subjects, specifying age groups of target populations and emphasizing the synchronized effect with physical activity, sedentary behavior and sleep, producing guidelines based on the latest research evidence, complying with the local national situation, and paying more attention to supports from parents, educators, and educational organizations. We built an effective global optimization model of image retargeting based on grid deformation. This model introduces a series of energy functions that prevent important grid deforming. The proposed approach allows resizing images into arbitrary aspect ratio while protecting visually prominent area and retaining the global information as much as possible, in order to give users the best experience of browsing image. In addition, we achieved that goal that important grid distribute densely by establishing the optimization model of partitioning the initial grid in the original image, reducing the artifacts on the boundary of the prominent object. Transgenic crops were grown in an increasingly large scale around world, and accompanied by public concern about their potential ecological and environmental impacts. Evaluation of the effect of genetically modified crops on soil enzyme activity and nutrient content is critical for the soil ecosystem. In order to investigate the effects of planting transgenic soybean on enzyme activities and nutrient contents of rhizosphere soil, the changes of the enzyme activities (urease, alkaline phosphatase and hydrogen peroxidase) and nutrient contents (nitrate nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen, available phosphorus) in rhizosphere soil were examined in microcosm experiments. Two varieties of transgenic soybean M88(CP4 epsps), ZB(Bt cry1Ab + CP4 epsps) and a conventional soybean Zhonghuang 13 were selected. Compared with the conventional variety, the soil enzyme activities (alkaline phosphatase and hydrogen peroxidase) and available phosphorus content of transgenic soybean had no significant difference, but the nitrate content decreased significantly. However, remarkable diiferences existed between M88 and ZB in terms of ammonium nitrogen and urease activity in rhizosphere soil. Compared with the conventional variety, the urease activity and ammonium nitrogen content of transgenic soybean M88 had no significant diiference. In order to further improve the performance of ESSCE, real-valued link analysis had been proposed to compute the similarity between fuzzy clusters in ESSC clustering ensemble (RLA-ESSCE). The clustering ensemble information was refined according to fuzzy decision and its similarity. Therefore the performance according to refined clustering ensemble information had been improved. By using polymerase chain reaction-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis ( PCRDGGE) and sequence analysis, this paper studied the nifH gene diversity and community structure of soil nitrogen-fixing microbes in Hulunbeier sandy land of Inner Mongolia under four years management of five vegetation restoration modes, i. e. , mixed-planting of Agropyron cristatum, Hedysarum fruticosum, Caragana korshinskii, and Elymus nutans (ACHE) and of Agropyron cristatum and Hedysarum fruticosum (AC), and mono-planting of Caragana korshinskii (UC), Agropyron cristatum (UA), and Hedysarum fruticosum (UH), taking the bare land as the control (CK). There existed significant differences in the community composition of nitrogen-fixing microbes among the five vegetation restoration patterns. The Shannon index of the nifH gene was the highest under ACHE, followed by under AC, UC, UA, and UH, and the lowest in CK. Except that UH and CK had less difference in the Shannon index, the other four vegetation restoration modes had a significantly higher Shannon index than CK (P<0. 05). The phylogenetic analysis showed that the soil nitrogen-fixing microbes under UA, UH, and UC were mainly of cyanobacteria, but the soil nitrogen-fixing microbes under AC and ACHE changed obviously, mainly of proteobacteria, and also of cyanobacte ria. The canonical correlation analysis showed that the soil total phosphorus, available phosphorus, total nitrogen, and nitrate nitrogen contents under the five vegetation restoration modes had significant effects on the nitrogen-fixing microbial communities, and there existed significant correlations among the soil total phosphorus, available phosphorus, total nitrogen, and nitrate nitrogen. It was suggested that the variations of the community composition of soil nitrogen-fixing microbes under the five vegetation restoration modes were resulted from the interactive and combined effects of the soil physical and chemical factors. To investigate the mechanism by which Peitu Yifei Granules inhibit idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(IPF) in rats, fifty specific-pathogen-free(SPF) grade male Wistar rats were randomly divided into blank group and modeling group. IPF was induced in the modeling group rats by tracheal infusion of 5 mg·kg~(-1) bleomycin(BLM) and then randomly divided into model group, pirfenidone group, and high-dose, medium-dose, and low-dose groups treated with Peitu Yifei Granules. After 24 hours of modeling, the treatment groups received intragastric administration of either Peitu Yifei Granules or pirfenidone as a positive control drug; meanwhile, the model group received an equal volume of normal saline. After 21 days of treatment administration, lung tissue samples were collected for analysis. Pathological changes in lung tissues were assessed using hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining and Masson's trichrome staining. The expression levels of protein kinase B(Akt), mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR), their phosphorylated forms, and sequestosome 1(p62) were determined through Western blot(WB). Fluorescent quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR) was used to measure messenger ribonucleic acid(mRNA) expression levels of Beclin-1, microtubule-associated proteins 1A/1B light chain 3B(LC3B), and p62. Immunohistochemistry was performed to assess protein expression levels of Beclin-1 and LC3B in lung tissue samples. RESULTS:: demonstrated that lung tissue structure appeared normal without significant collagen deposition in the blank group rats. In contrast, rats from the model group exhibited thickened alveolar septa along with evident inflammatory changes and collagen deposition. Compared to the model group rats, those treated with Peitu Yifei Granules or pirfenidone showed significantly improved lung tissue structure with reduced inflammation and collagen deposition observed histologically. Furthermore, compared with those of the blank group, the expressions of p62 and its mRNA, p-Akt and p-mTOR protein in lung tissues of the model group were significantly increased, while Beclin-1, LC3B and their mRNA levels were significantly decreased. Compared with those of the model group, the expressions of p62 and its mRNA, p-Akt and p-mTOR in lung tissues of the pirfenidone group and Peitu Yifei Granules high-dose and medium-dose groups were significantly decreased, while Beclin-1, LC3B and their mRNA expressions were significantly increased. The above results indicate that Peitu Yifei Granules can improve autophagy levels in lung tissues by inhibiting the phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K)/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway and delay the development of IPF disease.

The radial growth of trees plays a crucial role in determining forest carbon sequestration capacity. Understanding the growth dynamics of trees and their response to environmental factors is essential for predicting forest's carbon sink potential under future climate change. Coniferous forest trees are particularly sensitive to climate change, with growth dynamics responding rapidly to environmental shifts. We collected and analyzed data from 99 papers published between 1975 and 2023, and examined the effects of exogenous factors (such as temperature, water, and photoperiod) and endogenous factors (including tree age and species) on cambial activity and radial growth in conifers. We further explored the mechanisms underlying these effects. The results showed that climate warming had the potential to advance the onset while delayed the end of xylem differentiation stages in conifers in temperate and boreal regions. Water availability played a crucial role in regulating the timing of cambial phenology and wood formation by influencing water potential and cell turgor. Additionally, the photoperiod not only participated in regulating the start and end times of growth, but also influenced the timing of maximum growth rate occurrence. Future climate warming was expected to extend the growing season, leading to increase in growth of conifers in boreal regions and expanding forests to higher altitudes or latitudes. However, changes in precipitation patterns and increased evapotranspiration resulting from temperature increases might advance the end of growing season and reduce growth rate in arid areas. To gain a more comprehensive understanding of the relationship between radial growth and climatic factors, it is necessary to develop process-based models to elucidate the physiological mechanisms underlying wood formation and the response of trees to climatic factors.

Asari Radix et Rhizoma is a common drug for relieving exterior syndrome in clinics, but its toxicity limits its use. In this study, the mechanism of hepatic damage of Asari Radix et Rhizoma was studied by network pharmacology and metabolomics. The hepatic damage-related dataset, namely GSE54257 was downloaded from the GEO database. The Limma package was used to analyze the differentially expressed genes in the dataset GSE54257. Toxic components and target genes of Asari Radix et Rhizoma were screened by TCMSP, ECTM, and TOXNET. The hepatic damage target genes of Asari Radix et Rhizoma were obtained by mapping with the differentially expressed gene of GSE54257, and a PPI network was constructed. GO and KEGG enrichment analysis of target genes were performed, and a &quot;miRNA-target gene-signal pathway&quot; network was drawn with upstream miRNA information. Thirty rats were divided into a blank group, a high-dose Asari Radix et Rhizoma group, and a low-dose Asari Radix et Rhizoma group, which were administered once a day. After continuous administration for 28 days, liver function indexes and liver pathological changes were detected. Five liver tissue samples were randomly collected from the blank group and high-dose Asari Radix et Rhizoma group, and small molecule metabolites were analyzed by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(UHPLC-MS). The orthogonal partial least squares-discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA) method was used to screen differential metabolites, and enrichment analysis, correlation analysis, and cluster analysis were conducted for differential metabolites. Finally, the MetaboAnalyst platform was used to conduct pathway enrichment analysis for differential metabolites. It was found that there were 14 toxic components in Asari Radix et Rhizoma, corresponding to 37 target genes, and 12 genes related to liver toxicity of Asari Radix et Rhizoma were obtained by mapping to differentially expressed genes of GSE54257. The animal test results showed that Asari Radix et Rhizoma could significantly increase the liver function index, reduce the activity of the free radical scavenging enzyme, change the liver oxidative stress level, and induce lipid peroxidation damage in rats. The results of untargeted metabolomics analysis showed that compared with the blank group, nine metabolites were up-regulated, and 16 metabolites were down-regulated in the liver tissue of the Asari Radix et Rhizoma group. These 25 metabolites had strong correlations and good clustering. Pathway enrichment analysis showed that these differential metabolites and the 12 hepatotoxic target genes of Asari Radix et Rhizoma were mainly involved in purine metabolism, as well as the biosynthesis and metabolism of valine, leucine, glycine, serine, and threonine. The study confirmed that the hepatica damage effect of Asari Radix et Rhizoma was the result of multi-component, multi-target, and multi-signaling pathways, and its mechanism may be related to inhibiting nucleotide synthesis and affecting protein metabolism.

Bladder cancer is a common malignant tumor of the urinary system.The prognosis of patients with positive lymph nodes is worse than that of patients with negative lymph nodes.An accurate assessment of preoperative lymph node statushelps to make treatmentdecisions,such as the extent of pelvic lymphadenectomy and the use of neoadjuvant chemotherapy.Imaging examination and pathological examination are the primary methods used to assess the lymph node status of bladder cancer patients before surgery.However,these methods have low sensitivity and may lead to inaccuate staging of patients.We reviewed the research progress and made an outlook on the application of clinical diagnosis,imaging techniques,radiomics,and genomics in the preoperative evaluation of lymph node metastasis in bladder cancer patients at different stages.

The fatty acid ethyl ester (FAEE) content of olive oil is an important indicator of its quality. At present, the international standard method used to detect FAEEs in olive oil is silica gel (Si) column chromatography-gas chromatography (GC); however, this technique presents a number of disadvantages, including complex operation, long analysis times, and high reagent consumption. In this study, a method based on Si solid phase extraction (SPE)-GC was established to determine four FAEEs in olive oil, namely, ethyl palmitate, ethyl linoleate, ethyl oleate, and ethyl stearate. First, the effects of the carrier gas were investigated, and He gas was ultimately selected as the carrier gas. Next, several internal standards were screened, and ethyl heptadecenoate ( cis -10) was determined as the optimal internal standard. The SPE conditions were also optimized, and the effects of different brands of Si SPE columns on the recoveries of analytes were compared. Finally, a pretreatment method in which 0.05 g of olive oil was extracted with n -hexane and purified through a Si SPE column (1 g/6 mL) was developed. A sample could be processed within approximately 2 h using a total reagent volume of about 23 mL. Validation of the optimized method revealed that the four FAEEs have good linearities within the range of 0.1-5.0 mg/L (coefficients of determination ( R 2 )>0.999). The limits of detection (LODs) of the method were within 0.78-1.11 mg/kg, and its limits of quantification (LOQs) were in the range of 2.35-3.33 mg/kg. The recoveries ranged from 93.8% to 104.0% at all spiked levels tested (4, 8, and 20 mg/kg), and the relative standard deviations were 2.2%-7.6%. Fifteen olive oil samples were tested using the established method, and the total FAEEs of three extra-virgin olive oil samples were found to exceed 35 mg/kg. Compared with the international standard method, the proposed method has the advantages of simpler pretreatment process, shorter operation time, lower reagent consumption and detection cost, high precision, and good accuracy. The findings provide an effective theoretical and practical reference for improving olive oil detection standards.

Urticaria is an immune-mediated allergic disease. This study explored the effect of Jingfang Mixture on spleen T lymphocyte subsets of urticaria mice. A total of 50 Kunming mice were randomized into normal group(C), model group(V), and low-(JF-L, 0.5 g·kg~(-1)), medium-(JF-M, 1 g·kg~(-1)) and high-dose(JF-H, 2 g·kg~(-1)) Jingfang Mixture groups, with 10 mice in each group. The mixture of ovalbumin and aluminum hydroxide(0.1 mg + 0.1 mL) was used(intraperitoneal injection) to induce urticaria in mice. The administration began 6 days after the first immunization, and the second immunization was carried out 10 days after the first immunization. The pruritus index was detected within 30 min after the second immunization. The administration lasted 21 days. After 21 days, the serum was taken to detect the total IgE level. Based on hematoxylin and eosin(HE) staining, the pathological changes of skin tissue were observed, and Western blot was used to detect the levels of p-Janus kinase 2(JAK2)/JAK2 and p-signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3)/STAT3 in skin tissue. The spleen was taken to detect the spleen index, and flow cytometry was employed to determine the expression of lymphocyte subsets. The results showed that group V had obvious pathological changes in skin tissue compared with group C. Moreover, group V showed more scratches, higher spleen index, and higher level of total serum IgE than group C. In addition, higher levels of p-JAK2 and p-STAT3, lower proportions of CD4~+T, Th1, and Treg, higher proportions of CD8~+T, Th2, and Th17, and lower ratios of CD4~+/CD8~+, Th1/Th2, and Terg/Th17 were observed in group V than in group C. Compared with group V, each administration group showed alleviation of the pathological morphology of skin tissue, obvious epidermal thickening, relatively intact collagen fiber structure of dermal reticular layer, alleviated edema, and relief of vasodilation and peripheral inflammatory cell infiltration. Moreover, less scratching, lower spleen index, lower p-JAK2/JAK2 and p-STAT3/STAT3 were observed in the administration groups than in group V. JF-M group and JF-H group demonstrated lower levels of total IgE, larger proportions of CD4~+T, Th1, and Treg, smaller proportions of CD8~+ T, Th2, and Th17, and higher ratios of CD4~+/CD8~+, Th1/Th2, and Terg/Th17. In conclusion, Jingfang Mixture may improve the symptoms of urticaria mice by regulating the balance of spleen T lymphocyte subsets through JAK2-STAT3 signaling pathway.

Purpose: To investigate the relationship between polymorphism of cytochrome P450, family 2, subfamily A, polypeptide 6(CYP2A6) and periodontitis, the expression of inflammatory cytokines in 123 Han smokers., Methods: From October 2018 to October 2019, a total of 123 smokers with periodontitis were selected as the experimental group, and 125 non-smokers as the control group. The general data of the patients were collected, including age, gender, body mass index (BMI), chewing and brushing habits, as well as molar condition; plaque index (PLI), gingival bleeding index (BI), periodontal probing depth (PD) and attachment loss (AL) were detected. CYP2A6 was amplified by PCR. The level of interleukin (IL)-17, IL-1, IL-6, IL-23 and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in GCF was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). SPSS 25.0 software package was used for statistical analysis of the data., Results: There was significant difference in gender, PLI, IL-17, IL-1, IL-6, IL-23, TNF-α level in GCF between the two groups(P＜0.05). All samples were amplified by PCR. Among them, 23 were not amplified, which were identified as CYP2A6 deletion type (CYP2A6del), including 5 in the experimental group and 18 in the control group; 225 were amplified and identified as CYP2A6 wild type(CYP2A6wt), including 118 in the experimental group and 107 in the control group. There was significant difference in CYP2A6 genotype between the two groups(P＜0.05). In the experimental group, the level of IL-1 and PLI of different CYP2A6 genotypes was significantly different(P＜0.05); and in the control group, the level of IL-17 and PLI of different CYP2A6 genotypes was also significantly different(P＜0.05)., Conclusions: There are differences in CYP2A6 genotype between smokers and non-smokers in Han population with periodontitis, but the relationship between CYP2A6 genotype and inflammatory cytokines is not clear.

This study aims to explore the toxicity mechanism of Rhododendri Mollis Flos(RMF) based on serum metabolomics and network toxicology. The toxic effect of RMF on normal rats was evaluated according to the symptoms, serum biochemical indexes, and histopathology. Serum metabolomics was combined with multivariate statistical analysis to search endogenous differential metabolites and related metabolic pathways. The toxic components, targets, and signaling pathways of RMF were screened by network toxicology technique, and the component-target-metabolite-metabolic pathway network was established with the help of serum metabolomics. The result suggested the neurotoxicity, hepatotoxicity, and cardiotoxicity of RMF. A total of 31 differential metabolites and 10 main metabolic pathways were identified by serum metabolomics, and 11 toxic components, 332 related target genes and 141 main signaling pathways were screened out by network toxicology. Further analysis yielded 7 key toxic components: grayanotoxin Ⅲ,grayanotoxinⅠ, rhodojaponin Ⅱ, rhodojaponin Ⅴ, rhodojaponin Ⅵ, rhodojaponin Ⅶ, and kalmanol, which acted on the following 12 key targets: androgen receptor(AR), albumin(ALB), estrogen receptor β(ESR2), sex-hormone binding globulin(SHBG), type 11 hydroxysteroid(17-beta) dehydrogenase(HSD17 B11), estrogen receptor α(ESR1), retinoic X receptor-gamma(RXRG), lactate dehydrogenase type C(LDHC), Aldo-keto reductase(AKR) 1 C family member 3(AKR1 C3), ATP binding cassette subfamily B member 1(ABCB1), UDP-glucuronosyltransferase 2 B7(UGT2 B7), and glutamate-ammonia ligase(GLUL). These targets interfered with the metabolism of gamma-aminobutyric acid, estriol, testosterone, retinoic acid, 2-oxobutyric acid, and affected 4 key metabolic pathways of alanine, aspartate and glutamate metabolism, cysteine and methionine metabolism, steroid hormone biosynthesis, and retinol metabolism. RMF exerts toxic effect on multiple systems through multiple components, targets, and pathways. Through the analysis of key toxic components, target genes, metabolites, and metabolic pathways, this study unveiled the mechanism of potential neurotoxicity, cardiotoxicity, and hepatotoxicity of RMF, which is expected to provide a clue for the basic research on toxic Chinese medicinals.

Objective: To investigate the influence of conventional CAG regimen and decitabine + decreased dose CAG (D+dCAG) regimen on the clinical efficacy and safety of patients with MDS-RAEB/AML-MRC., Methods: The clinical data of 67 patients with MDS-RAEB/AML-MRC hospitalized in our hospital from March 2012 to July 2017 were analyzed retrospectively. According to chemotherapecctic regimens, 76 patients were divided into 2 groups: 37 patients treated with conventional CAG regimen were enrolled in control group, 30 patients treated with decitabine + decreased dose CAG regimen were enrolled in D+dCAG group. The complete remission (CR) rate, overall remission rate (ORR), OS and PFS time and incidence of adverse reactions in 2 groups were compared., Results: The CR in D+dCAG group was significantly higher than that in control group (P＜0.05). ORR was not significanly different between 2 groups (P＞0.05). There was no significant difference in the cumulative OS rate between 2 groups (P＞0.05). There was no significant difference in the cumulative OS rate and PFS rate in nonimplantation between 2 groups (P＞0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions of hematological system, pulmonary infection, skin and soft tissue infection, agranulocytosic fever and mycotic infection was not significanly different between 2 groups (P＞0.05). The duration of granulocyte deficiency and platelet count less than 20×10 9 /L were not significanly different between 2 groups (P＞0.05)., Conclusion: Compared with conventional CAG regimen, decitabine + decreased dose CAG regimen in the treatment of patients with MDS-RAEB/AML-MRC can efficiently improve the remission effects and showed the well overall safety, but can not increase the survival rate.

Objective: To analyze the correlation of the minimal residual disease level with the prognosis of the AML patients with NPM1 gene mutation positive after chemotherapy., Methods: The clinical data of 112 newly diagnosed adult AML patients with positive NPM1 gene were collected and retrospectively analyzed. The correlation of the transcripts of NPM1 gene mutation with prognosis of patients was analyzed., Results: In 112 AML patients, the median transcript level of NPM1 gene mutation accounted for 83.68% (5.86%-486.57%), FLT3-ITD mutation positive was found in 44 cases (39.29%), chromosomal abnormalities in 22 cases (19.64%) and complete remission in 96 cases (85.71%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the initial induction therapy and white blood cell count closely related with complete remission (P＜0.05). The median follow-up time was 22 (3-36) months, and the 3-year overall survival rate was 66.07% in 112 patients. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that both the high level of minimal residual disease at the initial complete remission and the high level of minimal residual disease after consolidation therapy were the independent risk factors for overall survival (P＜0.05)., Conclusion: In newly diagnosed adult AML patients with NPM1 mutation positive, the early high level of minimal residual disease after chemotherapy closely relates with poor prognosis.

This study uses the national ambient air quality station data of Anyang City from 2014 to 2017 to analyze the characteristics and variation rules of ozone (O 3 ) in different functional zones (urban, suburban, and industrial), and also studies meteorological influencing factors and potential source distributions of O 3 pollution. The results showed that the O 3 concentration in Anyang increased significantly between 2014 and 2017, whereby pollution started to advance from 2015 and the earliest occurrence of an O 3 pollution episode was in April 2017. The 90 th percentile and average concentrations of O 3 in the industrial zone increased at faster rates (average annual growth of 16.0 μg·m -3 and 13.0 μg·m -3 , respectively) than of those in the urban and suburban zones. The O 3 concentrations at the suburban site showed the fastest increase of all zones at the 5 th percentile (average annual growth of 13.2 μg·m -3 ). The monthly variation in O 3 concentrations in Anyang showed an "M" pattern that varied spatially depending on the zone. Temperature played a leading role in O 3 concentrations; air temperatures >23℃, relative humidity <58%, and a wind speed of 5 m·s -1 in a south-southwesterly direction were closely related to the occurrence of high O 3 concentrations. Potential sources of O 3 in different seasons were significantly different, and mainly distributed in southern Hebei, northern Hubei, and northern Shenyang in summer. The first heavy O 3 pollution day in the studied period was in May 2017, at which time the highest O 3 concentration was found in the industrial zone (up to 405 μg·m -3 ). This heavy O 3 pollution episode was related to the continuous high temperature that was caused by the transfer of a dry, hot air mass in western China.

Objective: To observe the effects of acupotomy intervention on the behavior, morphology and tensile mechanics of knee osteoarthritis (KOA) rabbits, and to explore the biomechanical effects of acupotomy on KOA., Methods: Twenty-four New Zealand male rabbits were randomly divided into four groups: normal group, model group, electroacupuncture group and needle-knife group, with 6 rabbits in each group. In each model group, rabbit KOA model was established by fixing Videman's left hind limb in straight position for 6 weeks. In the electroacupuncture group, rats were treated left on Liang Qiu, Xue Hai, Nei Xi Yan and Wai Xi Yan 3 times a week for 3 weeks. In the acupotomology group, the left quadriceps femoris tendon was released with acupotomology, and the treatment was once a week for 3 weeks. Behavioral tests were performed using Lequesne MG knee joint evaluation method one week after the end of modeling and one week after the end of treatment, and HE staining and mechanical tests were performed one week after the end of treatment., Results: Behavioral observation before treatment showed that there were significant differences in local pain, gait response, joint activity and joint swelling between the normal group and the model group( P <0.05), while there was no significant difference among the model group, electro-acupuncture group and needle-knife group( P >0.05). After treatment, the results showed that there were significant differences in local pain, gait response, joint activity and joint swelling among model group, electro-acupuncture group and needle-knife group compared with normal group( P <0.05); In local pain, the electro-acupuncture group was lower than the model group, and there was no significant difference( P >0.05); there was significant difference between needle knife group and model group( P <0.05); there was no significant difference between electro-acupuncture group and needle-knife group( P >0.05). In gait change, there was significant difference between model group and electro-acupuncture group( P <0.05); there was no significant difference between needle-knife group and model group( P >0.05). In joint activity, there was significant difference between electro-acupuncture group and model group( P <0.05). In joint swelling, compared with model group, there was significant difference on electro-acupuncture group and electro-knife group( P <0.01), but there was no significant difference between the electro-acupuncture group and the needle-knife group( P >0.05). Mechanics: Compared with the blank group, the ultimate load of the model group decreased significantly( P <0.01), the ultimate load of the electro-acupuncture group decreased( P >0.05), and the ultimate load of the needle-knife group increased( P >0.05). Compared with the model group, the ultimate load of the electro-acupuncture group increased significantly( P <0.05), and the ultimate load of the needle-knife group increased significantly ( P <0.01). Compared with the electro-acupuncture group, the ultimate load of the needle-knife group increased( P >0.05). Compared with the blank group, the maximum displacement of the model group decreased significantly( P <0.01), and the maximum displacement of the electro-acupuncture group and the needle-knife group decreased( P >0.05). Compared with the model group, the maximum displacement of the electro-acupuncture group increased( P >0.05), and the maximum displacement of the needle-knife group increased significantly( P <0.05). Compared with the electro-acupuncture group, the maximum displacement of the needle-knife group increased( P >0.05). Because of a limited capacity of information processing in the brain, the efficient processing of visual information requires selecting only a very small fraction of visual inputs at any given moment in time. Attention is the main mechanism that controls this selection process, namely selective attention. Selective attention is the mechanism by which the subset of incoming information is preferentially processed from the complex external environment. Research on selective attention has two key issues. One is what targets (inputs) are selected by attention. There are three different types of selective attention according to its selected target: space-based, feature-based, and object-based attention. Another issue is how selective attention is generated. There are two different types of selective attention according to its generating source: top-down and bottom-up attention. In this review, these two issues are introduced to systematically discuss the neural mechanism of visual selective attention.

Objective: To investigate human papilloma virus (HPV) infection in the male genital tract and its risk factors in some rural areas of Jiangsu Province., Methods: This study included 398 men from six rural areas in Jiangsu Province, whose female partners, based on the results of cervical cytological examination, were divided into a normal (n = 104), a cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade Ⅰ (CIN-Ⅰ, n = 100), a CIN-Ⅱ (n = 95), and a CIN-Ⅲ group (n = 99). We examined the male subjects for genital warts and other lesions, collected urethral swab samples for HPV detection, and obtained their sociodemographic data by questionnaire investigation., Results: No megascopic lesions were observed in the genitals of the 398 participants. The total prevalence rate of HPV infection was 11.31% and that of high-risk HPV was 8.54%. Logistic regression analysis showed that daily cleaning of the genitals significantly decreased the risk of HPV infection (OR = 3.030, P = 0.003)., Conclusions: There is a relatively high prevalence rate of recessive infection of genital HPV among the seemingly healthy males in the rural area of Jiangsu Province. Daily cleaning of the genitals may be a protective measure against HPV infection.

Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy of small dose CAG regimen and MA regimen in the senile patients with acute myeloid leukemia(AML)., Methods: The clinical data of 83 senile patients with AML from Sep. 2012 to Sep. 2016 in our Hospital were analyzed retrospectively. According to the chemotherapy regimens, the patients were divided into CAG group and MA group; 36 patients in CAG group were treated with small dose CAG, while 47 patients in MA group were treated with MA. The curative efficiency(CR rate, PR rate,NR rate and OR rate), side effect (myelosuppression,infection,intestinal discomfort and hemorrage), serum cytokines(IL-6，IL-17，TGFβ）, and prognosis(survival rate in 2 years, MST and SST) were observed, compared and studied in these 2 group., Results: The curative efficiency, CR rate and PR rate of the CAG group were not significantly different from that of the MA group (P>0.05）. The side effect in CAG group was significantly lower than that in the MA group (P<0.05）. The levels of serum cytokines of the MA group were lower than those of the CAG group. Additionally, the prognosis was not significantly different between 2 groups(P>0.05）., Conclusion: For senile patients with acute myeloid leukemia, compared with traditional MA regimen, the small dose CAG has a certain curative efficacy and survival rate, and the incidence of side effect reduced. Therefore, the small dose CAG is superior to MA for the senile patients with acute myeloid leukemia.

Objective: To explore the curative effect of epidermal growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKIs) combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) versus single EGFR-TKIs for Advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC)., Methods: A total of 59 NSCLC patients with EGFR mutation were divided (2:1) into treatment group and control group. Patients in treatment group (39 cases) take EGFR-TKIs plus TCM and control group (20 cases) take EGFR-TKIs. Analysis the progression-free survival (PFS), disease control rate (DCR) and treatment-related adverse events of two groups., Results: The DCR of the treatment group and control group was 94.1% and 84.2% respectively ( P =0.24). In the total population, PFS was 12.1 months in treatment group and 9.1 months in control group [hazard ratio ( HR ) 0.46; 95% CI 0.23-0.9; P =0.025]. Among patients with exon 19 deletion (19-del), PFS between treatment group and control group was 10.5 months and 9.5 months respectively ( P =0.17). For patients with exon Leu858Arg point mutation (L858R), PFS was significantly longer with treatment group than withcontrol group (median 13.2 months vs. 7.8 months; HR 0.32, 95% CI 0.10-0.97; P =0.046). Grade 3-4 treatment-related adverse events were less common withtreatment-group (8.33 %) than control group (15.00%) ( P =0.65)., Conclusion: For NSCLC patients with EGFR mutation, EGFR-TKIs combined with TCM has a certain effect to prolong PFS, especially for the patients with L858R., (Copyright© by Editorial Board of Journal of Sichuan University (Medical Science Edition).)

Objective: To explore the effect of PKA gene on acute T lymphocyte leukemia cells in children and its mechanism., Methods: Jurkat and Sup-T1 cells were divided into 2 group: control group (Jurkat and Sup-T1 cells treated with non-specific siRNA) and transfected group (Jurkat and Sup-T1 cells transfected with PKA siRNA). The effects of down-regulating the expression of PKA gene on the viability, proliferotion, migration and cell cycle distribution of Jurkat and Sup-T1 cells in 2 groups were analyzed by CCK-8 assay, transwell experiment, cell colony-formation test and flow cytometry; the cyclin-related protein levels after transfection with PKA siRNA were detected by Western blot., Results: It was revealed that the expression of PKA in Jurkat and Sup-T1 cells decreased to different degree after siRNA transfection(P<0.05). CCK-8 assay showed that the proliferation of Jurkat and Sup-T1 cells in the transfected group was slower than that in the control group(P<0.05). Transwell experiment showed that the migration and invasion ability of Jurkat cells in the transfection group was weaker than that in the control group (P<0.05). The cell colong formation number of Jurkat and Sup-T1 cells in the transfection group decreased significantly (P<0.05). The cell level of Jurkat and Sup-T1 cells in G 0 /G 1 phase increased after tansfection (P<0.05). Western blot assay revealed that the expression levels of CDK2, CyclinD1 and p-Rb in the Jurkat and Sup-T1 cells of the transfection group were suppressed (P<0.05)., Conclusion: The down-regulating PKA gene expression can decrease the proliferation and migration of tumor cells, and also can restrict the cell proliferation through related cell cycle proteins.

Objective: To investigate the effects and the underlying mechanisms of ShenFu Injection on paclitaxel-induced peripheral neuropathy., Methods: Twenty-eight adult male Wister rats were randomized into 4 groups ( n =7) : control group, paclitaxel group, paclitaxel combined with low or high dose of ShenFu Injection groups. Rats were intraperitoneally injected with paclitaxel 8 mg/kg every 4 d for a total of 4 doses except control group. From Day 1 of the experiment (injection),low dose (4 mL/kg) and high dose (8 mL/kg) of Shenfu Injection were intraperitoneally injected daily in the combination groups for a total of 21 d respectively,while normal saline (NS) was injected in control group in the same way instead. Mechanical withdraw threshold (MWT) and thermal withdraw latency (TWL) of rats' hind paw were measured before (0 d) and after the first injection (6 d,14 d). The level of nerve growth factor (NGF) in the serum was measured at 22 d before the euthanasia,and the ultrastructure of the sciatic nerve was observed with transmission electron microscope., Results: The MWT and TWL of 14 d in paclitaxel group significantly increased compared with those of 0 d and control group ( P <0.05). The combination of paclitaxel with ShenFu Injection,especially the high dose ( P <0.05),significantly reduced the MWT and TWL when compared to paclitaxel group at 14 d. Compared with simultaneous control group,there was no remarkably increased MWT and TWL in the low and high dose of ShenFu Injection ( P >0.05) . Compared with control group,the serum NGF level significantly decreased ( P <0.05) in paclitaxel group,while the serum NGF level in low and high dose of ShenFu Injection groups were higher than paclitaxel group,particularly in the high dose group ( P <0.05). When compared to control group,the sciatic nerve fiber structure in the paclitaxel group was generally damaged,including myelin sheath swelling,fragmentation and vacuolization,endoplasmic reticulum swelling and matrix structure disorder in Schwann cells. The structural damages were mitigated in the low dose and high dose groups,especially the latter one,when compared to the paclitaxel group., Conclusion: Shenfu Injection can reduce the peripheral neurotoxicity of paclitaxel by promoting the expression of NGF in serum., (CopyrightCopyright© by Editorial Board of Journal of Sichuan University (Medical Science Edition).)

Objective: To investigate the protective effect of exenatide (Ex) on the renal injury in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats., Methods: Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 2 groups:normal control group (NC group, n =8) and model group. Model group was injected with low dose of streptozotocin (30 mg·kg -1 ) after the rats were fed with high fat and high glucose diet for 4 weeks. Seventy-two hours later, rats of blood glucose level ≥ 16.7 mmol·L -1 were divided into diabetes mellitus group (DM, n =10) and two exenatide-treated groups (Ex groups,3 or 6 μ g·kg -1 , n =8). Ex groups subcutaneously injected with exenatide for 12 weeks, but NC group and DM group were injected with the same volume of solvent. Changes in glycolipid metabolism and renal function such as serum creatinine (Scr), urine creatinine (Ucr), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), 24 hour urine micro-albumin (24 h UMA)in the 4 groups of rats were determined and creatinine clearance rate (Ccr) were calculated. Renal oxidative stress parameters such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde(MDA), glutathione per-oxidase (GSH-Px) were measured. Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining was used to examine pathological morphology in the renal tissues and ELISA was performed to determine the level of advanced glycation end products(AGEs), the glycosylation end product in renal tissues., Results: Compared to the DM group,glycolipid metabolic abnormalities in the exenatide-treated groups were significantly ameliorated with lower levels of blood glucose,HbAlc, cholesterol and triglyceride ( P < 0.05). The renal function index was markedly improved ( P < 0.05) with Ccr reduced, indicating a high glomerular filtration status. Meanwhile, exenatide treatment improved the diabetes-induced pathological changes in renal morphology, substantially increased the activities of SOD and GSH-Px, and reduced the levels of MDA and AGEs., Conclusions: Exe-natide has the renal protective effect probably by the mechanisms of inhibition of AGEs production and reduction of oxidative stress in the renal tissues of diabetic rats.

We developed a new method for chiral separation of fourteen amino alcohols by nonaqueous capillary electrophoresis (NACE) with the D-(+)-gluconic acid δ-lactone-boric acid complex as chiral selector. In order to achieve good enantioseparation, the effects of D-(+)-gluconic acid δ-lactone and boric acid concentrations, triethylamine concentration, as well as capillary temperature were systematically investigated. The optimized conditions were identified as follows: an uncoated fused silica capillary of 50 μm ID with a total length (L(tot)) of 55 cm and an effective length (L(eff)) of 45 cm; 200 mmol·L(-1) D-(+)-gluconic acid δ-lactone, 80 mmol·L(-1) boric acid, and 57.4 mmol·L(-1) triethylamine in methanol; positive pressure injection at 2.9 psi for 2 s; capillary temperature, 25 ± 0.2 ℃; applied voltage, +15 k V; detection wavelength, 214 nm. Under the optimized conditions, a good chiral resolution was achieved in most of the tested drugs. This method provides a foundation for the development and application of new chiral selectors of polyhydroxy compound-boric acid complexes in chiral drugs analysis by NACE.

Objective: To investigate the effect of excreted/secreted antigens (ESAs) from Toxoplasma gondii RH strain and TgCtwh3 strain on apoptosis of CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells and interferon-γ (IFN-γ) secretion., Methods: ESAs of Toxoplasma gondii RH strain and TgCtwh3 strain were prepared. Splenic mononuclear cells were isolated from C57BL/6 mice and randomly divided into RH ESA group（2×106 cells/well with addition of 10 μg/ml RH ESA）, TgCtwh3 ESA group （2×106 cells/well with addition of 10 μg/ml TgCtwh3 ESA） and control group（2×106 cells/well with addition of 10 μg/ml ovalbumin）. Flow cytometry was performed to examine the early apoptosis of CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells after treatment for 48 h and 72 h. ELISA was conducted to determine the level of IFN-γ in the supernatant after treatment for 72 h. In another experiment, the 3 groups of splenic mononuclear cells were added with 10 μg/ml anti-IFN-γ antibody for 72 h and flow cytometry was performed to examine the early apoptosis of CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells. Meanwhile, splenic mononuclear cells from IFN-γ knockout and wild-type C57BL/6 mice were also divided into the above-described 3 groups, and flow cytometry was performed to examine the early apoptosis of CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells after treatment for 72 h., Results: The concentrations of RH ESA and TgCtwh3 ESA were 0.54 mg/ml and 2.14 mg/ml, respectively. Flow cytometry showed that the early apoptosis rate of CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells in the RH ESA group and the TgCtwh3 ESA group after 48 h treatment was （12.90±1.26）% and （9.71±1.04）%, respectively （P＜0.05）, both significantly higher than that in control group （4.48±0.48）% （P<0.01） . The early apoptosis rate of CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells after 72 h in the RH ESA group was（15.21±1.11）%, significantly higher than that in the TgCtwh3 ESA group[（11.02±0.92）%] （P<0.05） and the control group[（10.10±1.49）%]（P<0.01）. ELISA showed that the level of interferon-γ in the RH ESA group and the TgCtwh3 ESA group after 72 h was（4 764.0±118.7） pg/ml and （3 629.0±33.6） pg/ml, respectively （P＜0.01）, both significantly higher than that in the control［（679.4±30.6） pg/ml］（P<0.01）. Flow cytometry revealed lower early apoptosis rate of CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells in the RH ESA group added with anti-IFN-γ antibody［（10.44±1.44）%］ compared with that without the addition of the antibody［（14.96±0.83）］（P<0.05）. But this difference was not observed for the TgCtwh3 ESA group. Moreover, the RH ESA-induced apoptosis rate of regulatory T cells from IFN-γ knockout mice［（10.64±0.55）%］ was significantly lower than that from the wild-type mice ［（15.21±1.11）%］（P<0.01）. But this difference was not found for the TgCtwh3 ESA treatment., Conclusion: T. gondii RH ESA induces apoptosis of CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells and IFN-γ secretion, and these effects are stronger than those of TgCtwh3 ESA. The T. gondii ESA-induced IFN-γ stimulates generation of anti-Toxoplasma immunity during acute Toxoplasma infection through mediation of regulatory T cell apoptosis.

Objective: To systematically investigate the possible associations between G1165C and A145G polymorphism of β1-adrenoceptor (ADRB1) and resting heart rate (HRrest) in Northern Han Chinese., Methods: HRrest of 700 healthy Northern Han Chinese were measured in the sitting position.SNPs were genotyped by the TaqMan assay.Genotypes were differentiated by analyzing the fluorescence levels of PCR products using an ABI Prism 7900HT Sequence Detector., Results: HRrest was significantly lower in A145G AA carriers than in AG and GG carriers (all P < 0.01) . Multiple linear regression analysis showed that age, smoking habits, systolic blood pressure, triglyceride, serum creatinine and A145G polymorphism were associated with HRrest (P < 0.01) . A145G was significantly related with HRrest independent of other possible confounding variables, and the partial regression coefficient was 2.148 (P < 0.05) . After adjusting for other confounding factors, significant association between A145G and HRrest was only found in male subjects (P < 0.05) but not in female subjects (P > 0.05) ., Conclusion: The A145G polymorphism of ADRB1 gene is associated with HRrest in Northern male Han Chinese.

By using polymerase chain reaction-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (PCR-DGGE) and sequence analysis, this paper studied the nifH gene diversity and community structure of soil nitrogen-fixing microbes in Hulunbeier sandy land of Inner Mongolia under four years management of five vegetation restoration modes, i. e., mixed-planting of Agropyron cristatum, Hedysarum fruticosum, Caragana korshinskii, and Elymus nutans (ACHE) and of Agropyron cristatum and Hedysarum fruticosum (AC), and mono-planting of Caragana korshinskii (UC), Agropyron cristatum (UA), and Hedysarum fruticosum (UH), taking the bare land as the control (CK). There existed significant differences in the community composition of nitrogen-fixing microbes among the five vegetation restoration patterns. The Shannon index of the nifH gene was the highest under ACHE, followed by under AC, UC, UA, and UH, and the lowest in CK. Except that UH and CK had less difference in the Shannon index, the other four vegetation restoration modes had a significantly higher Shannon index than CK (P < 0.05). The phylogenetic analysis showed that the soil nitrogen-fixing microbes under UA, UH, and UC were mainly of cyanobacteria, but the soil nitrogen-fixing microbes under AC and ACHE changed obviously, mainly of proteobacteria, and also of cyanobacteria. The canonical correlation analysis showed that the soil total phosphorus, available phosphorus, total nitrogen, and nitrate nitrogen contents under the five vegetation restoration modes had significant effects on the nitrogen-fixing microbial communities, and there existed significant correlations among the soil total phosphorus, available phosphorus, total nitrogen, and nitrate nitrogen. It was suggested that the variations of the community composition of soil nitrogen-fixing microbes under the five vegetation restoration modes were resulted from the interactive and combined effects of the soil physical and chemical factors.

Leaf area index (LAI) is an important structural parameter of vegetation canopy, the correct estimation of which has been the focus in the remote sensing community. As a kind of hyperspectral and multi-angle remote sensing data with higher resolution (17 m), PROBA/CHRIS has significant application value in LAI inversion. In the present paper, the analytical two-layer canopy reflectance model (ACRM) was used to simulate a series of reflectances with different LAI values. Based on this, a new vegetation index was built and successfully applied to LAI inversion of PROBA/CHRIS image data. Our results indicated that: compared with the spectral index NDVI and multi-angle index HDS, the new index could make better use of spectrum and multi-angle messages and have a better correlation with LAI of the study area; moreover, the correlation coefficient R2 reached up to 0.734 7. And in order to obtain the figure of LAI distribution of the study area, we used the optimal fit equation between LAI and HDVI to estimate LAI, and the accuracy of the RMSE was 0.619 8.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of telbivudine treatment in pregnant patients with chronic hepatitis B to block mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B virus (HBV)., Methods: Medline and the Chinese Biomedical Literature Database were searched for studies of HBV, mother-to-child transmission, and telbivudine. Of the 68 potentially relevant publications, eight randomized controlled trials (RCTs) conformed to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Following data extraction, a meta-analysis was carried out with RevMan5.1 software., Results: Seven of the eight RCTs were in Chinese, and the remaining study was in English but carried out at a Chinese site. The RCTs comprised a total of 678 subjects, including 352 cases and 326 controls. Infants born to telbivudine-treated mothers had a significantly lower rate of HBsAg positivity and HBV DNA positivity at birth than the control group of infants (odds ratio (OR) = 0.27, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.17, 0.43, P less than 0.00001; OR = 0.14, 95% CI: 0.06, 0.32, P less than 0.00001). Infants born to telbivudine-treated mothers also had significantly lower rates of mother-to-child transmitted HBV at 6 months (OR = 0.06, 95% CI: 0.02, 0.22, P less than 0.00001; OR = 0.05, 95% CI: 0.01, 0.25, P = 0.0003) and 12 months (OR = 0.13, 95% CI: 0.03, 0.56, P = 0.007; OR = 0.08, 95% CI: 0.02, 0.37, P = 0.001) after birth. The pre-telbivudine treatment levels of HBV DNA were not significantly different between pregnant women in the telbivudine-treated group and the control group (OR = 0.12, 95% CI: 0.00, 0.24, P = 0.04), but the HBV DNA levels were significantly lower in the telbivudine-treated group of pregnant women prior to delivery (OR = -3.92, 95% CI: -4.90, -2.95, P less than 0.00001). There was no evidence of telbivudine treatment being associated with more adverse side effects or complications during pregnancy or in the infant (OR = 1.72, 95% CI: 0.68, 4.38, P = 0.25; OR=0.69, 95% CI: 0.04, 11.24, P = 0.80)., Conclusion: Telbivudine treatment effectively and safely prevents mother-to-child transmission of HBV from chronically infected mothers with a high degree of infectivity late in pregnancy.

Objective: To explore the relationship of venous sinus stenosis and idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) and to discuss the efficacy and strategy of endovascular treatment., Methods: Balloon angioplasty and stent placement were performed in 24 IIH cases by lateral sinus stenosis. Mechanical thrombus maceration was performed before stent placing in 5 cases with suspected chronic dural sinus thrombosis. The clinical data of clinical presentations, intracranial pressure, pressure of lateral sinus, pressure gradient between distal and proximal lateral sinus stenosis, methods of treatment and therapeutic outcomes were retrospectively analyzed., Results: Intracranial pressure dropped from (314 ± 56) mm H2O of pre-operation to (197 ± 31) mm H2O of post-operation. The post-treatment pressure gradient was obviously high ((159 ± 11) mm H2O) and a reduction was found ((95 ± 11) mm H2O). Headache in 16 cases, vision in 13 and papilledema in 10 were resolved or improved. There was no other permanent procedure-related morbidity. The patients were followed up for 2 - 19 months. And no in-stent restenosis occurred., Conclusion: Endovascular treatment is effective for IIH by venous sinus stenosis.

Objective: To investigate the potential regulatory role played by the hormone resistin in lipid metabolism and expression of nuclear factor (NF)-kB and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-a during hepatic steatosis., Methods: A non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) cell model was established by treating the normal human hepatic cell line, L02, with palmitic acid. Four research groups of L02 cells were generated: C group (control, no palmitic acid treatment), P group (NAFLD model, treated with 20 microg/ml palmitic acid), CR group (C group treated with 50 microg/L recombinant human resistin), and PR group (P group treated with 50 microg/L recombinant human resistin). All treatments were carried out for 72 hours. Oil red O staining was used to detect the intracellular changes in lipid drops. Biochemical assays were used to measure triglycerides (TGs), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) levels in culture medium. The mRNA and protein expression levels of insulin receptor substrate (IRS)-2, NF-kB, and TNF-a were determined by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and Western blot analysis, respectively., Results: The TG, ALT, AST, and GGT levels were higher in the P, CR, and PR groups than in the C group. The NF-kB mRNA level was also higher in the P, CR, and PR groups (Student's t = 17.64, 22.03, 26.06 respectively) than in the C group, as was the TNFa mRNA level ( t = 5.67, 5.38, 11.64), but the IRS-2 mRNA level was lower ( t = 8.19, 9.23, 20.93) (all, P less than 0.05). In addition, no significant difference in these mRNA levels were found between the P group and the CR group (NF-kB: t = 1.75, TNFa: t = 0.58, IRS-2: t = 2.14; all, P more than 0.05). The detected protein levels of NF-kB, TNFa, and IRS-2 were consistent with the mRNA levels., Conclusion: Resistin can promote steatosis in LO2 cells through the NF-kB signaling pathway, thereby contributing to the NAFLD pathogenic process.

Objective: To investigate the role of dietary capsaicin in activating transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) and thus influencing the vascular dysfunction mediated by high-fat diet and the potential mechanisms., Methods: A total of 80 male C57BL/6J mice aged 10 weeks were equally divided into four groups, in which the mice were fed with normal diet (ND), normal diet plus capsaicin (NC), high-fat diet (HD), or high-fat diet plus capsaicin (HC) for 20 weeks. Tail-cuff blood pressure (BP), vascular function of mice aortic rings, expressions of voltage-gated potassium-channel Kv1.4, RhoA and Rho kinase in aorta were examined., Results: Compared with ND group, both nitroglycerin [(18.9 +/- 13)% vs. 100%, P < 0.01] and acetylcholine [(26 +/- 12)% vs. 100%, P < 0.01] induced vasorelaxation of aortic rings were significantly reduced in HD group. Both endothelium dependent and independent aortic rings vasorelaxation in HC group were significantly improved compared with that in HD group [acetylcholine: (69 +/- 15)%; nitroglycerin: (46.5 +/- 6)%, P < 0.05], but still reduced compared with that in ND group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). High fat diet induced the expression of RhoA and Rho kinase. Dietary capsaicin down-regulated the expression of RhoA and Rho kinase but up-regulated the expression of Kv1.4 in aorta in mice fed with normal or high fat diet (all P < 0.05)., Conclusion: Dietary capsaicin can ameliorate vasorelaxation dysfunction mediated by high-fat diet. The potential mechanisms may be related with TRPV1 activation, which in turn stimulates potassium channel and inhibits RhoA and Rho kinase in the vasculature.

Objective: To evaluate whether high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) is a predictive factor in the patients with endometrial cancer., Methods: The investigators retrospectively analyzed the clinical records of 110 patient with endometrial carcinoma treated at our institution for their initial serum hs-CRP level at pre-operation. Pearson's chi-square was used to evaluate the association of the level of hs-CRP with variables associated with a poor prognosis. COX proportional hazard model was employed to perform univariate and multivariate analyses., Results: The median serum level of hs-CRP in the patients with endometrial cancer was 5.58 mg/L (range: 0.02 - 140.54 mg/L). The serum level of hs-CRP was significantly associated with advanced tumor stage (P < 0.01), lymph node involvement (P < 0.05) and patient age (P < 0.05). Tumor stage, lymph node involvement, histological grade, post-operative adjuvant therapy and the serum level of hs-CRP were correlated with the overall and disease-free survivals. Tumor stage and the serum level of hs-CRP were independent factors. The rank correlation analysis showed that there was a positive correlation between the serum levels of hs-CRP and CA125 (P < 0.01)., Conclusion: The serum level of hs-CRP may serve as a prognostic parameter in patients with endometrial cancer. Further studies are warranted to validate its value.

Aim: Through isolation and purification pri-mary HER2 overexpression human breast cancer cells from malignant pleural effusion and identification the HER2 expression level of the cells to establish the primary HER2 overexpression human breast cancer cell model. METH-ODS: Malignant pleural effusion of HER2 overexpression breast cancer patient was collected. The primary cells were extracted from malignant pleural effusion by Lymphocyte separation medium and the method of density gradient centrifugation. When the primary cells were cultured and spreaded to the 5th generation, the HER2 expression level of the primary cells were detected by the methods of Q-PCR,Western blot and flow cytometry (FCM). Ability of tumor-bearing was detected by tumor-bearing nude mice assay., Results: The primary HER2 overexpression human breast cancer cells were extracted and identified by the methods of Q-PCR, Western blot and tumor-bearing nude mice assay,even though the FCM showed Negative results., Conclusion: The primary HER2 overexpression human breast cancer cell model was established; Identification of primary cells need to be confirmed by different methods.

Objective: To compare the therapeutic effect differences of chronic functional constipation treated with the combined therapy of grain-shaped moxibustion and acupuncture and simple acupuncture therapy., Methods: One hundred cases of constipation were randomly divided into an acupuncture and moxibustion group and an acupuncture group by fifty-fifty. Both groups were treated by acupuncture therapy with acupoints of two groups alternatively. Group 1: Tianshu (ST 25), Daheng (SP 15), Qihai (CV 6), Guanyuan (CV 4), Zusanli (ST 36), Shangjuxu (ST 37) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6). Group 2: Zhongliao (BL 33), Xialiao (BL 34), Dachangshu (BL 25), Shenshu (BL 23) and Pishu (BL 20). In acupuncture group, all the acupoints, were punctured; in acupuncture and moxibustion group, grain-shaped moxibustion was given at Qihai (CV 6), Susanli (ST 36), Dachangshu (BL 25) and Pishu (BL 20), and others were treated by puncture. The clinical therapeutic effect, and the changes of clinical score of constipation, quality of life and psychological symptoms score were observed before and after treatment., Results: The total effective rate in acupuncture and moxibustion group was 74.0% (37/50), superior to that (52.0%, 26/50) in acupuncture group (P < 0.05). The clinical score of constipation, the quality of life and psychological symptoms score in both groups improved after treatment; in clinical score of constipation, the improvement of difficulty of defecation, defecation time, abdominal pain, exsufflation difficulty, endless sensation of defecation, obstruction sense of anus, purgative prescription dependence, quality of life score and psychological symptoms score in acupuncture and moxibustion group were superior to those in acupuncture group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01)., Conclusion: For treating chronic functional constipation, the combined therapy of both grain-shaped moxibustion and acupuncture is safe and effective, superior to the simple acupuncture therapy.

Objective: To evaluate the correlation of collateral circulation with prognosis in patients with acute cerebral infarction., Methods: A total of 260 patients with acute ischemic stroke within 1 week of symptom onset underwent digital subtraction angiogram (DSA). The National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores were obtained at admission. And the Modified Rankin scores (mRS) were assessed at a 3-month follow-up. The follow-up data were acquired through clinic visits or telephone interviews., Results: Among them, 86 were found to have intra- or extra-cranial culprit artery severe stenosis or occlusion. And 36 (75.00%) in 48 patients had collateral arterial circulation while 11 (28.64%) in 38 patients posterior circulation. There were statistical differences in the NIHSS scores at admission and favorite clinical outcome (mRS ≤ 2) at 3-month follow-up for patients with and without collateral circulation., Conclusion: DSA is the golden standard for the assessment of collateral circulation in patients with severe cerebral artery stenosis or occlusion. The prognosis is better in stroke patients with collateral circulation.

Objective: This project aims to investigate the nutrition status of children aged from 6 to 23 months living in Beichuan and Lixian where were seriously affected by the earthquake in 2008., Methods: The height, body weight and hemoglobin concentration were measured for 478 children from Leigu township, Qushan township in Beichuan county and Zagunao township, Xuecheng township and Putou township in Lixian county; the number of group 6 - 11, 12 - 17, 18 - 23 months were 190, 144, 144 respectively. The height for age (HAZ), the body weight for age (WAZ) and the weight for height (WHZ) were calculated respectively. The low weight, stunting, wasting prevalence, anemic rate were analyzed., Results: The WAZ scores of 6 - 23 months males and females in Beichuan county and Lixian county ranged from -0.97 to -0.13 and from -0.67 to -0.23, HAZ scores ranged from -1.23 to -0.31 and from -1.25 to -0.38, respectively. The WAZ (-0.89 ± 1.16) and HAZ (-1.20 ± 1.60) of 18 - 23 months infants in Beichuan county were significantly different from the WAZ and HAZ of 6 - 11 months (WAZ: -0.32 ± 0.92; HAZ: -0.58 ± 0.98) and 12 - 17 months (WAZ: -0.47 ± 1.00; HAZ: -0.68 ± 1.34) infants (F values were 7.161 and 4.584, respectively; all P values < 0.05). The WAZ (-0.63 ± 1.03) and HAZ (-1.11 ± 1.15) of 18 - 23 months in Lixian county infants were significantly different from the WAZ and HAZ of 6 - 11 months (WAZ: -0.23 ± 0.93; HAZ: -0.51 ± 1.55) infants and 12 - 17 months (WAZ: -0.58 ± 0.52; HAZ: -0.80 ± 1.19) (F values were 3.156, 4.345, all P values < 0.05). The prevalence of low weight infants (18 - 23 months) these two counties were 15.6% (12/77) and 9.1% (6/66), respectively. The prevalence of stunting in Beichuan and Lixian have reached 26% (20/77) and 24.2% (16/66), respectively. The wasting rate of 18 - 23 months infants had reached 9.1% (7/77) in Beichuan. The total anemia prevalence among infants reached 49.6% (123/248) and 78.8% (178/226) in Beichuan and Lixian, respectively. The prevalence of moderate anemia have reached 7.7% (19/248) and 19.9% (45/226), respectively., Conclusion: After the earthquake in Beichuan, Lixian, the growth of infants aged 6 to 23 months old was below average. The prevalence of anemia was high. The malnutrition status of infant and young children aged from 18 to 23 months in Beichuan and Lixian was more serious, should be targeted of nutrition interventions.

Objective: To screen and diagnose Down's syndrome during mid-term pregnancy to reduce the number of babies with Down's syndrome., Methods: With the multi-level of stratified cluster sampling, twenty thousand and eight hundred and three women at 15-20 weeks gestation were screened by maternal serum AFP and beta-hCG using the time resolved fluoroimmunoassay (TRFIA). Then the screened high-risk women were diagnosed by amniocentesis, cell culture and chromosome analyses. The born children were diagnosed by follow-up and peripheral blood chromosome analyses., Results: Six fetuses were diagnosed by serum screening and amniotic fluid chromosome analyses, and 3 born children were diagnosed by follow-up and peripheral blood chromosome analyses. Nine cases of Down's syndrome were detected in total, with the positive prenatal screen rate being 67% (6/9)., Conclusion: The prenatal screening and diagnosis can reduce the birth of Down's syndrome patients and improve the population quality. However, the diagnosis accuracy still needs to be improved to further reduce the false negative rate and prevent misdiagnosis.

Mammalian skin epidermis contains different epidermal stem cell pools which contribute to the homeostasis and repair of skin epithelium. Epidermal stem cells possess two essential features common to all stem cells: self-renewal and differentiation. Disturbing the balance between self-renewal and differentiation of epidermal stem cell often causes tumors or other skin diseases. Epidermal stem cell niches provide a special microenvironment that maintains a balance of stem cell quiescence and activity. This review primarily concentrates on the following points of the epidermal stem cells: the existing evidences, the self-renewal and differentiation, the division pattern, the signal pathways regulating self-renewal and differentiation, and the microenvironment (niche) and macroenvironment maintaining the homeostasis of stem cells.

Objective: To establish the analytical method for the fingerprint of Folium Apocyni Veneti by HPCE and estimate the quality of Folium Apocyni Veneti from different habitats., Methods: Folium Apocyni Veneti from different habitats were analyzed and the chromatographic fingerprint were determined by HPCE. The data were analysed by Fuzzy Cluster and Fingerprint Similarity Evaluation Software to compare the similarity of samples., Results: HPCE fingerprint of 7 main peaks was established preliminarily. It was discovered that a small number of samples differed from others., Conclusion: The method is reliable, accurate and can be used for quality control of Folium Apocyni Veneti.

Objective: To investigate the role of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) signal transduction pathway in the rats of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)., Methods: Sixty four Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups: 8-week control group (NG8w), 12-week control group (NG12 w), 8-week high-fat diet (HG8w), and 12-week high-fat diet group (HG12w), with 16 rats in each group. Glucose infusion rate (GIR) was tested by euglycemic hyperinsulinemic clamp; aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), free fatty acid (FFAs), fast insulin (FIns), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF alpha), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA) were tested by biochemistry automatic analyzer or RIA; The expression of JNK1, insulin receptor substrate-1 (IRS-1), phospho-IRS-1 Ser307 (p-IRS-1 Ser307), Protein kinase B (PKB) and phospho-PKB Ser473 (p- PKB Ser473) were detected by Western blot., Results: Compared to control group, body weight, liver index, serum levels of ALT, AST, TG, TC, FIns, FFAs, TNF alpha, and TC, TG FFAs, MDA in liver homogenates were increased, while the level of SOD, and GIR were decreased. The expression of JNK1 protein and p-IRS-1 Ser307 in liver tissue was up-regulated, while expression of p-PKB Ser473 was decreased (P < 0.05). A positive correlation was found between the expression intensity of JNK1 and IR (Pearson correlation: 0.718, P < 0.01)., Conclusion: The high-fat could induce the expression of JNK1, which in turn modulates the phosphorylation of proteins in the insulin signaling pathway, and induces insulin resistant.
