The keratin solution was prepared with TCEP. The role of temperature and SDS on dissolution time and dissolution rate in the process of extraction was studied. The temperature had a great influence on the dissolution time and dissolution rate. SDS can accelerate the dissolution rate of woof, but had little impact on the final dissolubility. When the temperature was low (<70°C), SDS had a great influence on the final dissolubility; when the temperature was high (>70°C), SDS had little influence on the final dissolubility. The amounts of SDS had little influence on dissolution time, with the increased of SDS. There was no significant increase for solubilization. Through microscope, the dissolution of wool was a process of swelling. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
