Objective To investigate the influence of internship at the health management center of a hospital on health quotient of nursing students, and explore ways of developing students’ health awareness. Methods A total of 160 nursing students were investigated with Health Quotient Modified Questionnaire, and changes in health quotient level were analyzed before and after internship. Results Nursing students achieved higher scores of self-care, health knowledge, life skills and mental status dimension at the end of internship (P＜0. 05). There was no significant difference in living habits dimension before and after internship (P＞0. 05). Conclusion Professional health guidance and training and enhanced clinical practice during internship contribute to the health quotient improvement among nursing students. In order to promote the strategy of potato staple food, this paper investigates the effect of potato starch addition on the dough characteristics, cooking, textural and digestive properties of fermented noodles by adding different levels of potato starch. The results showed that with the increase of potato starch addition (0%-55%), the gelatinization initial temperature of the mixed powder decreases, the enthalpy value increases, and the termination temperature does not change significantly. The water absorption, formation time and stabilization time of the flour mix dough all tended to de-crease and the dough tended to be more of a solid material, resulting in a significant decrease in the firmness, elasticity and chewiness of the fermented noodles (P<0.05). By simulated in vitro starch digestion, the rate of starch hydrolysis was found to increase with the addition of potato starch, and the predicted value of glycemic index was significantly lower with the addition of potato starch compared to the control group (P<0.05). In summary, the pasting, textural and digestive characteristics of the flour dough mix and fermented noodles were better at 45% potato starch addition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Based on the Monte Carlo simulation method, seismic control effect of vertical irregularity parameters for reinforced concrete (RC) frame structures were studied. Employing a 5-story and a 10-story frame structures with vertical irregularities of strength or stiffness on the first story and on the median story, and considering earthquake action as the random variable, nonlinear dynamic time history analysis was conducted to investigate the maximum interstory drift angle. The variation rule of the maximum inter-story drift angle with different vertical irregularities was explored, and the probability of failure exceeding the limit state was evaluated. The results show that the vertical strength irregularity and stiffness irregularity have significant effects on the response of the maximum inter-story drift angle. With the decreases of strength irregularity and stiffness irregularity factors, the maximum inter-story drifts increase. The vertical irregularities on the first story have a larger effect upon the structure's inter-story drift than the vertical irregularities have on the median story, and strength irregularities have relatively greater effect upon the structure's inter-story drift than the stiffness irregularities have. The vertical irregularities also have significant effect on the probability of failure for structures exceeding the limit state criteria. The exceeding probability increases as the vertical irregularity factor decreases. The smaller the irregular factor and the lower the limit state criteria are, the more significant this phenomenon becomes. The strength irregularity factor of 0. 7 and the stiffness irregularity factor of 0. 8 can be set as the seismic control limit. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Transforming growth factor (TGF)-β is a group of cytokines with anti-inflammatory effects in the TGF family, which participates in the development of stress and depression-related mechanisms, and plays roles in the regulation of inflammatory response in depression and the recovery of various cytokine imbalances. The core symptoms of depression is associated with TGF-β level, and the psychological symptoms of depression are related to TGF - β gene polymorphism. Various antidepressants may up-regulate TGF-β level through the complex interaction between neurotransmitters and inflammatory factors, inhibiting inflammatory response and regulating cytokine imbalance to improve depressive symptoms. Studies have shown that recombinant TGF-β1 protein has beneficial effects in mouse depression models, indicating TGF-β1 might be a potential therapeutic target for depression and nasal sprays having the advantage of being fast acting delivery method. This article reviews the research progress on dynamic changes of TGF-β level before and after depression treatment and the application of TGF-β level as an indicator for the improvement of depressive symptoms. We provide ideas for the development of new antidepressants and for the evaluation of the treatment efficacy in depression.

Objective: To conduct clinical and genetic analysis of two male patients with atypical Rett syndrome., Methods: Collection of clinical data in the two patients and these parents; whole exome sequencing (WES) was used to detect the potential variants, which were verified by Sanger sequencing. X chromosome inactivation (XCI) detection is performed in the Patient 1's mother to detect the allelic expression difference of the MECP2 gene., Results: Patient 1, a 5-year and 10-month-old boy, had mental disorders and mild intellectual disability (ID) (IQ: 54), whose mother had ID. Patient 2 was a 9-month and 18-day-old male presented with recurrent infections, respiratory insufficiency, hypotonia and global developmental delay. WES indentified a hemizygous mutation, c.499C>T (p.R167W), in the MECP2 gene in patient 1, which was inherited from his mother. The inactivation of X chromosome is skewed, and the expression ratio of wild-type and mutant MECP2 is 100%:0. Patient 2 was found a de novo splicing mutation, c.62+2&#95;62+3del in the MECP2 gene. They were both reported pathogenic variant related to Rett syndrome. c.499C>T (p.R167W) was defined as likely pathogenic (PS1+PM2+PP3) and c.62+2&#95;62+3del was pathogenic (PVS1+PM2+PM6) based on American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics standards and guidelines., Conclusion: Both the two patients were diagnosed with rare male Rett syndrome, which had atypical clinical manifestations and large difference. Above foundings have revealed novel phenotypes in Chinese male patients with Rett syndrome.

Objective: To explore the association between hypertension and prognosis of oral cancer patients in non-smoking and non-drinking women., Methods: From September 2010 to February 2019, 362 non-smoking and non-drinking female patients with pathologically confirmed oral cancer were recruited and followed up in the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University. The patients were divided into hypertension group and non-hypertensive group, and the Kaplan-Meier method was performed to calculate the cumulative survival rate. The survival curve was tested by the log-rank method for differences between the two groups. Cox proportional regression model was utilized to explore the prognostic factors. 1∶1 propensity score matching was applied in order to verify the above findings. Stratified analysis was used to explore the prognosis of oral cancer treated by different method and fish intake between two groups respectively., Results: The Cox proportional hazards model showed that the risk of death of hypertension patients was 1.976 times than nonhypertensive patients(95%CI 1.003-3.890), the risk of death for patients with lymph node metastasis was 2.938 times than patients without metastasis(95%CI 1.318-6.551), the risk of death for patients underwent surgery combined with adjuvant therapy was 0.454 times than surgery alone(95%CI 0.236-0.875). After propensity score matching, the Cox proportional hazard model showed that the risk of death for patients with hypertension was 2.987 times than non-hypertensive patients(95%CI 1.050-8.497). The result of stratified analysis showed that the risk of death for non-hypertensive patients with surgery combined with adjuvant therapy was 0.233 times than patients with surgery alone(95%CI 0.085-0.643) and the risk of death in patients with hypertension who consumed fish ≥3 times/week was 0.020 times higher than that in women with oral cancer who consumed fish&lt;3 times/week(95%CI 0.001-0.392)., Conclusion: Hypertension is an independent prognostic factor for oral cancer in non-smoking and non-drinking women. Non-hypertensive patients underwent surgery combined with adjuvant therapy can reduce the risk of death and the increase of fish intake can improve the prognosis of hypertensive female oral cancer patients.

Objective: To explore the rates of suicide ideation and the relevant factors among patients with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in Changsha for obtaining scientific evidence to reduce suicidal ideation rates among PLWHA.
 Methods: A total of 504 PLWHA were surveyed in an AIDS hospital in Changsha, by using Self-Made Socio-Demographic Scale, Self-rating Depression Scale, Self-rating Anxiety Scale, and Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation-Chinese Version.
 Results: There were 13.9%, 26.6% and 27.2% of PLWHA suffered suicidal ideation in the last week, at the most depressive moments and all their lives, respectively. Being a gay (OR=4.79, 2.66, 2.37) or with suicide history (OR=8.56, 5.63, 5.56) were the risk factors for suffering suicidal ideation in the last week, at the most depressive moments and all their lives. Moreover, anxiety was the risk factor for suffering suicidal ideation at the most depressive moments and all their lives (OR=3.28, 3.05), and depression was the risk factor for suffering suicidal ideation in the last week (OR=4.97).
 Conclusion: Among PLWHA, gay is a high risk factor for suffering suicidal ideation, and suicide history is a risk factor.
