Surgery is the mainstay of lung cancer treatment options. Traditionally, lobectomy has held its place as the gold standard for treating localized lung cancer, while sublobar resection, including wedge resection and segmentectomy, was primarily considered as an alternative, often reserved for patient ineligible to sustain a radical intervention. However, with the widespread application of computed tomography (CT) to clinical practice, the increasing detection rate of pulmonary ground glass nodules (GGNs) has reshaped this landscape. Ground glass opacity (GGO) in persistent lung nodules is an indicative factor of a favorable prognosis, typically corresponding to pathological changes such as atypical adenomatous hyperplasia (AAH), adenocarcinoma in situ (AIS), or adenocarcinomas predominantly featuring a lepidic growth pattern. A large number of retrospective studies have shown that sublobar resection can achieve satisfactory therapeutic outcomes for such lesions. A series of prospective studies from Japan have confirmed that for early-stage lung cancers dominated by GGOs, sublobar resection is also a viable curative surgical option. The follow-up data showed that there was no statistical difference in the survival status of these patients compared with that of pulmonary lobectomy. This article aims to delve into the role of limited lung resection in the context of lung adenocarcinoma presenting with GGO features.

Objective To study the differential DNA methylation in the hippocampus of rats exposed to benzo(a)pyrene and explore the mechanism of benzo(a)pyrene-induced functional impairment of the hippocampus. Methods Twenty male SD rats (3 weeks old) were randomly divided into control group and benzo(a)pyrene exposure group (n=10), and in the latter group, the rats were exposed to benzo(a)pyrene delivered via gavage on a daily basis for 7 consecutive weeks. After the exposure, Morris water maze test was performed to assess the changes in the spatial memory and learning ability of rats; the brain tissues were dissected for morphological examination of the hippocampal neurons with HE staining. Reduced representation bisulfite sequencing (RRBS) of the genomic DNA from the hippocampus was performed, followed by GO and KEGG analyses of the sequencing data; qRT-PCR was used to detect the expression levels of Tnr and Pla2g2a mRNAs. Results Morris water maze test and HE staining showed that exposure to benzo(a)pyrene resulted in obvious impairment of the spatial learning and memory abilities and caused hippocampal injuries in rats. DNA methylation sequencing identified 32 differentially methylated regions; GO analysis enriched 871 GO items and KEGG analysis obtained 52 pathways, of which 145 GO items and 11 pathways were significantly enriched (P < 0.05). Compared with the control rats, the benzo(a)pyrene-exposed rats showed significantly decreased Tnr mRNA expression and increased Pla2g2a mRNA expressions in the hippocampus(P < 0.05). Conclusion A number of differentially methylated sites occur in the genomic DNA in rat hippocampus following benzo(a)pyrene exposure, and these sites may provide important clues in exploring the mechanism of benzo(a)pyrene-induced hippocampal injury.

Objective To investigate the effect of astrocyte-microglia crosstalk mediated by complement C3/C3aR signaling on hydrocephalus after germinal matrix hemorrhage (GMH) in newborn rats. Methods GMH was induced in post-natal day 7 SD rats by collagenase Ⅶ-S injection into the ganglionic eminence. We detected the changes in the expression of periventricular C3 and C3aR over time after GMH, and observed the effect of intraperitoneal injection of C3aRA (a selective C3aR antagonist) on hydrocephalus using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The learning and memory functions of the rats were tested after the treatment using Morris water maze test, and the expression of interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-6, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) and aquaporin 4 in the brain tissues were detected using Western blotting at different time points after GMH. Results The neonatal rats with GMH showed significantly up-regulated expression of C3 and C3aR around the cerebral ventricles and increased expression of IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α and TGF-β1 in the brain, presenting also with obvious lateral ventricle dilation, compression of the cortex and hippocampus, and impairment of the learning and memory functions. Treatment of the rats with C3aRA obviously decreased C3 and C3aR expression, alleviated hydrocephalus, improved the neurological deficits, and reduced the expression of the inflammatory factors in the brain. GMH caused obvious ectopic expression of aquaporins 4 and increased its expression level on the astrocytes, and C3aRA treatment significantly improved the abnormal expression of aquaporins 4. Conclusion GMH causes the astrocytes to up-regulate and release C3, which binds to C3aR on the microglia to promote inflammation and aggravate hydrocephalus. The ectopic expression of aquaporin 4 in astrocytes may play an important role in the occurrence of hydrocephalus following GMH. rats newborn

In view of problem that continuous advancing of excavation working face results in decreasing of specific value of pressed and exhausted air volume in excavation roadway, and impacts dust control and collection effects of wet scrubber, frequency-conversion speed-regulation principle was introduced, and relations between air volume and frequency, air volume and power, dust collection efficiency and frequency of wet scrubber were obtained through testing, which provided a basis for air volume control and determination of frequency control range of wet scrubber.

In the late development periods of many oil and gas fields, reservoir pressure decreased to depletion, and the pressure coefficient would be reduced less than 0.4. Formation pressure reduction would result in in-situ stress changes and cause the influence on wellbore stability in drilling. Based on the influence of pressure depletion on reservoir in-situ stress and stress distribution around the wellbore in depleted reservoir, this paper analyses the effect of pressure depleted on wellbore stability of directional wells. Calculation results shows that there is a neutral angle in depleted reservoir drilling, when inclination angle is smaller than the neutral angle, the safety window of drilling fluid density will become wider, and when inclination angle is larger than the neutral angle, the safety window of drilling fluid density will become narrower. The neutral angle has no relationship with the level of pressure depleted, but has relationship with azimuth angle, and keep inclination angle below the neutral angle and away from the azimuth of maximum horizontal principle stress is beneficial to drilling safety. Objective: To investigate the application of risk grading and classification for occupational hazards in risk management for a shipbuilding project., Methods: The risk management for this shipbuilding project was performed by a comprehensive application of MES evaluation, quality assessment of occupational health management, and risk grading and classification for occupational hazards, through the methods of occupational health survey, occupational health testing, and occupational health examinations., Results: The results of MES evaluation showed that the risk of occupational hazards in this project was grade 3, which was considered as significant risk; Q value calculated by quality assessment of occupational health management was 0.52, which was considered to be unqualified; the comprehensive evaluation with these two methods showed that the integrated risk rating for this shipbuilding project was class D, and follow- up and rectification were needed with a focus on the improvement in health management., Conclusion: The application of MES evaluation and quality assessment of occupational health management in risk management for occupational hazards can achieve objective and reasonable conclusions and has good applicability.

Objective: To explore the application of the gray series model GM (1, 1) in predicting trends in the incidence of pneumoconiosis and evaluate its degree of predicted precision., Methods: Analyzing the incidence of pneumoconiosis in this region from 2009 to 2013, and predicting the incidence of pneumoconiosis of the area in 2014-2016 by establishing GM (1, 1) according to the gray system theory., Results: Using occupational pneumoconiosis population data from 2009 to 2013, to establish GM (1, 1) model: yt = 1396.89e(0.12(t-1)), α = -0.12, µ = 147.2. The pneumoconiosis in 2014, 2015, 2016 were predicted respectively 51, 47, 43 cases based on the GM (1, 1) model, and C value of model is 0.15, P value is 1, all of them meet the requirements of model predictions. It shows the cases of pneumoconiosis are rising significantly., Conclusion: GM (1, 1) model can be used to predict the recent trend in the incidence of pneumoconiosis.

Background and Objective: The new edition of the TNM staging for lung and pleural tumours has been finished, which put weight on the extent of primary tumor as one of the important prognosises. But little study has performed on the primary tumor extent < or = 2 cm. The aim of this study is to explore the prognosis of patients with tumor extent < or = 2 cm in stage I of non-small cell lung cancer, which helps us to choose the best treatment for these patients., Methods: Retrospective study on the clinical response and survival time of whom underwent complete surgical resection and diagnosed as T1a of stage I NSCLC from 1998 to 2004 was analyzed. Data was analyzed by SPSS 17.0 software., Results: Overall survival rate was 80.8%. By the study, age (P = 0.241), gender (P = 0.175), history of smoking (P = 0.845), pathologic type ( P =0.265), and systematic mediastinal lymphadenectomy (SML )(P = 0.918) or not, postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy or not ( P = 0.616) and visceral pleural invasion (P = 0.827) were not the prognosises of these patients. Only the tumor differentiation such as poorly differentiated was the important prognosis ( P = 0.01)., Conclusion: In the tumor extent < or = 2 cm of stage I non-small cell lung cancer, the visceral pleural invasion maybe not influence the patients survival. The tumor differentiation is one of the important prognostic factors.

Background and Objective: The expression and activity of thioredoxin reductase (TrxR) are significantly higher in tumor tissues than in normal tissues, but the correlation of plasma TrxR activity to tumor growth has seldom been reported. This study was to evaluate the correlation of plasma TrxR activity to the growth of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) H22 cell xenografts in mice., Methods: H22 cells were injected subcutaneously into Kunming mice to establish HCC model. The mice were divided into control group, mice group, low dose (36 mg/kg), moderate dose (72 mg/kg) and high dose (216 mg/kg) ethaselen groups. The mice in control group and model group were given 0.5% sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC-Na). Blood samples were drawn before tumor cell inoculation, when tumor volume reached 100 mm3, and at Days 1, 4 and 10 of treatment. TrxR activity in plasma and tumor tissues was detected by dithio-bis-nitrobenzoic acid (DTNB) method., Results: The inhibition rates of tumor growth were 59.5% in low dose ethaselen group, 74.3% in moderate dose ethaselen group, and 74.9% in high dose ethaselen group. Plasma TrxR activity was stable in control mice, and was correlated positively to tumor volume in tumor-bearing mice. At the end of treatment, the inhibition rates of TrxR activity in plasma and tumor were 59.2% and 15.3% in low dose ethaselen group, 68.4% and 25.8% in moderate dose ethaselen group, 68.9% and 29.8% in high dose ethaselen group., Conclusions: Plasma TrxR activity is correlated positively to tumor growth. Ethaselen can inhibit TrxR activity corresponding to tumor growth inhibition.
