An on-board emission testing platform is built, light and medium vehicles are chosen for conducting their emission test on real road, and a data base relating emission data to driving condition data is set up. A concept of vehicle specific power (VSP) is introduced, the relations of emission vs. VSP and emission vs. vehicle speed are compared, and the distribution frequencies of VSP for two types of vehicles and the changing relation between the emissions of three pollutants and VSP is analyzed. The results show that the VSP of light and medium vehicles concentrate on the range of -3 ~ 7kW/t, and compared with vehicle speed, there is a more strong correlation between emissions and VSP of vehicles.
