Objective:To explore the effectiveness of solution-focused coaching(SFC) on the emotion and self-perception in nurses with job burnout. Methods:Sixty female nurses with moderate to severe job burnout in a hospital were randomly allocated into the SFC group and control group. The participants in the SFC group were intervened with solution-focused coaching once a week for 30 minutes, which lasted for 3 weeks. The participants in the control group read at the same frequency and time.In the baseline and after the 3-week intervention, the Positive Affect and Negative Affect Schedule(PANAS),Attention to Positive and Negative Inventory(APNI),and a selfreference valence task were used to measure the effects. Results:In the post-intervention test, the scores of Positive Affect(PA) and Attention to Positive Inventory(API) were higher in the SFC group than in the control group(Ps<0.05),and the scores of Attention to Negative Inventory(ANI) were lower in the SFC group than in the control group(P <0.05).In addition, the ratio of positive trait words to be rated as being able to describe themselves in the post-test was higher than that at baseline in the SFC group(P <0.05).Conclusion:It shows that solution-focused coaching could improve the positive emotion of female nurses with burnout, improve their attention bias to positive information, and also enhance their positive self-perception,suggesting that it might be an effective intervention method to them.
