In this paper, the oil pan of a micro-vehicle is taken as example to study the issue of radiation noise control of oil pan. Firstly finite element method (FEM) is used to analyze its vibration response and structural sensitivity. Then boundary element method (BEM) is used to calculate its structural - acoustic sensitivity and judge the main factors affecting the radiation noise of oil pan, and an optimization on its acoustic characteristics is conducted with feasible direction method. Finally the sound pressures at hemisphere field points of radiation noise of oil pan before and after optimization are calculated by combined FEM/BEM method. The results show that after optimization the radiation noise of oil pan reduces significantly. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
