Objective To investigate the effect of Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) in orientation training of night shift among newly recruited nurses. Methods Totally 26 registered nurses who required orientation training of night shift were divided into the observation group and control group. Routine theory and practice tests were carried out in the control group, and OSCE was performed in the observation group. The nurse’s satisfaction with training, comprehensive skills assessment outcome and exam result were observed and compared between two groups. Results The satisfaction rate of observation group was higher than that of control group (P＜0. 05). The scores of comprehensive skills assessment and theory test in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0. 05). Conclusion The OSCE in orientation training of night shift is potentially effective to enhance the comprehensive skills of nurses and improve their satisfaction. (目的 探讨客观结构化临床考试(OSCE)在新入科夜班护士准入培训中的应用效果。方法 26名注册护士分为观察组和对照组, 参加夜班准入培训。对照组护士采用常规理论及单项操作考试, 观察组采用OSCE。比较2组护士对培训的满意度、综合能力得分以及考试成绩。结果 观察组对培训效果的满意度高于对照组 (P＜0. 05)。观察组综合能力评分和考试成绩得分均高于对照组, 差异有统计学意义(P＜0. 05)。结论 OSCE应用于新入科夜班护士准入培训, 能有效提高其临床综合能力, 护士对该培训方式满意度较高。)

Objective To identify the correlation of medical residency evaluations and Objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) scores. Methods In 2015, 53 participants for standardized medical residency training at Peking Union Medical College Hospital were included. Before entering the program, every participant took a multi-station OSCE. Each month during training, they were given a comprehensive assessment from their supervisors. An annual score was calculated at the end of the first year. The correlation between two abovementioned scores was examined. Results Participants with longer medical education tended to score higher in OSCE. The correlation coefficient between OSCE and annual evaluation score is 0.68(P＜0.01), showing high correlation. In each station, the correlation coefficient between the annual evaluation score and that of computer-based examination, history taking, medical record writing was greater than 0.4. Conclusions OSCE before entering training may predict performance during the residency training thus can be used as an important indicator for residents' stratification and multilevel training.

Objective To analyze the effect of specialized training of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) nursing in Nanjing, in order to improve the quality of TCM nursing training in Nanjing and cultivate practice-based nurse specialists in TCM. Methods According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, The first batch of trainees specialized in TCM nursing from several hospitals in Nanjing municipal were selected. Delphi method was used to construct the training system and training module, and the training was carried out from April 2019 to November 2019. Results A total of 31 trainees specialized in TCM nursing were included in this study. The goal of improving the implementation of TCM nursing techniques was accomplished with a highest increase rate (67.74%). The score of assessment about TCM theory was (51.19 ± 11. 91) before training and (84.19 ± 6. 90) after training, with a significant difference (P <0. 05). The score of objective structured clinical examination was (83.90 ±10. 70). There was a remarkable increase in number of researches held by trainees and number of TCM nursing technology carried out by trainees. Conclusion Through the systematic implementation of the training, scientific training courses, strict selection criteria and practical implementation of target management, the nurses' specialty in TCM nursing can be effectively improved. Background: Clear directions and explanations from nurses related to health behaviors and discharge procedures have been shown to effectively reduce the risk of patient readmission. Nurses thus need to develop good communication skills in order to ensure that their communications help patients become better-informed and less anxious about discharge procedures. Purpose: This research evaluates the communication skills of nurses following two different education interventions. Methods: Experimental design principles for education interventions were followed in this research. Medical nurses certified at the N to N2 level in a municipal hospital in Taipei City were enrolled as participants (N = 78) and divided into an experimental group and control group using stratified purposive randomization. The experimental group received clinical scenario-based simulation education for communication. The control group received standard class-based education for communication. Both groups received a pre-test evaluation and an OSCE post-test evaluation. Results were analyzed using SPSS 17.0 software. Results: Independent t-test results revealed significant increases in communication skills (t = 3.406, p < .05) in both groups, with the increase in the experimental group (M = 5.00, SD = 0.82) significantly greater than the increase in the control group (M = 4.11, SD = 1.41). However, the mean scores from the post-test standardized patient survey found no significant differences between the two groups in terms of communication skills. Conclusion: The results indicate that the clinical scenario-based simulation education intervention is more effective than traditional class-based education in enhancing the communication skills of nurses.
