Objective The purpose of this paper is to argue for the necessity and possibility of teaching English for medical purpose (EMP) in our university. Methods Students' language aptitudes and learning needs for medical English were investigated by questionnaires, the data about students' achievements on CET-4 and their enrollment on EMP courses were collected, and all data were statistically analyzed. Results 76.84% students on our campus have good language aptitude and 68.5% students have strong desire for EMP. Their CET-4 achievements are improving (the average score for Grade 2011 is 456.09 and 461.53 for Grade 2012, while the accumulative pass rates of CET-4 are 39.28% for Grade 2011 and 45.09% for Grade 2012), which provide a sound foundation for EMP courses. The actual EMP course enrollment is satisfactory. Conclusion It is necessary to reform the present curriculum into the one including EMP courses so that students can maintain their interests in English learning and gain greater benefit for their future careers. The article reports on the study of the proper characterization and selection of ribonucleic acid (RNA) aptamer to help suppress the virus hemagglutinin protein RNA aptamer that cause newcastle diseases. It states that using the three RNA aptamers that were combined with the newcastle disease virus F48E9 strain it resulted to three strains including FHN12-45-3, FHN12-36-6, and FHN12-19-9. The result showed that the FHN12-36-6 could lessen 4 units of hemagglutinin F48E9 strain.

Objective To analyze the deficiencies of the English curriculum for medical graduates and promote the process of teaching reform, through evaluating the English courses and the graduates' ability in Kunming Medical University. Method By using the method of questionnaire, a random sample of graduates was investigated, and the results were tabulated and analyzed by SPSS software. Result Students were not satisfied with the teaching methods and the curriculum, and traditional teaching methods should be changed. Conclusion We should take the "exemption + elective +hierarchical teaching" model in the curriculum, and use effective teaching methods and select appropriate English textbooks. Recurrent anterior dislocation of shoulder with bone defect is one of the common diseases of shoulder joint. How to effectively repair glenoid bone defect and reduce recurrence rate of shoulder dislocation is a problem that clinicians focus on. Bone grafting could stimulate bone, promote bone regeneration and bone remodeling, and restore the normal anatomical structure of glenoid. Among them, Bristow-Latarjet procedure is a classic operation for recurrent shoulder dislocation. Latarjet procedure could repair larger glenoid bone defects, but with higher surgical skills for surgeons;autogenous iliac grafting is the first choice for revision once Latarjet procedure failed;osteochondral grafting (autogenous and allogenous) has certain advantages in reconstructing original articular surface and preventing joint degeneration, but autologous osteochondral grafting may cause secondary injury, while immune rejection is difficult to avoid for allogenous osteochondral grafting. With the improvement of composite materials, and the mechanism of bone regeneration and remodeling, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of bone grafting, tissue engineering technology may become an effective method for the treatment of glenoid bone defect in the future.

Citrullus colocynthis is widely distributed in the desert regions of the world. C. colocynthis has shown to improve constipation, liver diseases, jaundice, typhoid fever, diabetes and asthma in traditional use. As a kind of exterritorialy medicinal material, C. colocynthis has been used in China and introduced successfully. The main active ingredients of C. colocynthis are cucurbitacin, flavonoids, alkaloids and phenolic acids, which have been proven to have antioxidant, anti-diabetic, anti-pathogenic microorganisms and anti-cancer activities in modern pharmacological research. This paper reviews the traditional application, chemical composition and pharmacological effects of C. colocynthis, and provides reference for the in-depth study for the efficacy and mechanism of different components of C. colocynthis.

Objective: To evaluate clinical effect of autologous osteochondral transplantation in treating localized knee cartilage defects., Methods: Fifteen patients with knee cartilage defects were treated by autologous osteochondral transplantation from January 2007 to January 2008, including 8 females and 7 males, aged from 23 to 45 years old. Preoperative and postoperative KSS score at 10 years were compared., Results: All patients were followed up for 10.0 to 10.7 years, with an average of(10.2±0.3) years. Clinical score of KSS was improved from 38.86±4.09 to 85.07±2.19 at 10 years after operation( P <0.05), functional score increased from 3.33±4.88 to 82.67±4.58 at 10 years after operation( P <0.05), KSS score was improved form 42.20±7.84 befor operation to 167.73±6.29 at 10 years after operation, and had statistical differences before and after operation. While there was no statistical difference in stability of knee joint( P >0.05). All patients had no other complications., Conclusions: Through long-term follow-up of patients with cartilage defect in knee treated by autologous bone cartilage transplantation showed that this method could effectively improve function of knee joint and alleviate pain. Objective: To explore reaction dynamic of hydroxyl radical (*OH) and salicylic acid,and to determine the elimination ratios of TCM polysaccharide to *OH by kinetic fluorescent analysis., Methods: The impact dynamics factors of this reaction were studied by fluorescent, such as the reaction of concentration, reaction time and temperature. The dynamical equation was built, a kinetic fluorescent spectrophotometry based on the reaction was developed to determine the elimination ratio. Repetitiveness and reliability of this method were tested by vitamin C., Results: The dynamical equation of reaction rate to salicylic acid was gamma = 0. 9818x -1. 1801 under the condition of lambda ex = 295 nm, lambda em = 411 nm at room temperature, r approximately 1. The 50% elimination ratio (IC50) of TCM polysaccharide of Tangerine peel and Ganoderma lucidum to *OH was 78.01 mg/L and 232.5 mg/L, respectively. The IC50 of vitamin C was 24.52 microg/L, RSD was 0.23% (n = 5)., Conclusions: The method is sensitive and reliable, it can be used to determine the elimination ratio of TCM polysaccharide to *OH.
