In order to aovid peri-implantitis，Ti-ZnO nanocomposite coatings were prepared on the surface of pure Ti slices by reactive magnetron sputtering.The effects of nano-ZnO content on the microstructure and antibacterial performance of the coatings were studied by means of changing the splicing ratio of Ti target and ZnO target.The microstructure，roughness and wettability of the samples were characterized and measured by scanning electron microscopy (SEM)，X-ray diffraction (XRD)，atomic force microscopy (AFM) and JC2000C1 interfacial tension tester.In addition，the release of Zn ions from the coatings was measured by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS)，the cytotoxicity of the coatings was tested by CCK-8 method，and the antibacterial performance of the coatings was evaluated by plate colony counting method.Results showed that when the ratio of Ti target to ZnO target was 95 ∶5，the nano-ZnO content in Ti-ZnO coating was the highest，the roughness and contact angle with liquid phase of the coating reached the maximum values of 0.547 nm and 101.25° respectively，the coating had no cytotoxicity and met the standards for biosafety materials，and the antibacterial performance of the coating was the best with an antibacterial rate up to 91.05%.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the stress distribution of microtitanium plate and bioresorbable plates in fixation of mandibulotomy., Methods: Three dimensional models of different internal fixation systems in mandibular resection were established, and three dimensional finite element analysis was carried out to compare the displacement changes of fracture segments and stress distribution of titanium plates under the same stress conditions., Results: The maximum stress value of titanium plate was 49.8 MPa, and that of absorbable plate was 4.42 MPa. The maximum stress value of titanium plate was far greater than that of absorbable plate. However, all the stresses were less than their yield limits. It can be seen from the relative displacement comparison that when the mini-titanium plate was fixed on the mandible, the maximum displacement value was 0.1 mm; when absorbable plate was used for fixation, the maximum displacement value was 0.2 mm, and the relative displacement of both plates was small., Conclusions: These results suggest that the stiffness and internal strength of bioabsorbable fixation system are sufficient to support bone healing at the mandible site.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between clinical features of patients with A/H5N1 infection and their prognosis in mainland China., Methods: This study included 28 human cases with A/H5N1 infection in mainland China from October 2005 to May 2008. Data were collected and reviewed from hospital medical records and publishied papers. A database was built by EPIDATA 3.02 and statistical analyses were performed with SPSS 13.0., Results: The median age of the 28 cases was 29 years (range 6-62), and 15 were females. Ten patients survived, and 18 died. The typically clinical manifestations of human influenza A/H5N1 infection included fever and lower respiratory infection. The numbers of peripheral white blood cells, lymphocytes and platelets in the survival and non-survival groups were (4.01 +/- 1.86) x 10(9)/L vs (5.1 +/- 2.9) x 10(9)/L, (1.09 +/- 0.49) x 10(9)/L vs (0.98 +/- 0.44) x 10(9)/L, and (116 +/- 39) x 10(9)/L vs (101 +/- 40) x 10(9)/L, respectively; the differences were not statistically significant between the 2 groups (P>0.05). There was also no statistically significant difference in the increased serum enzymes, such as aspartate aminotransferase [(173 +/- 246) U/L vs (272 +/- 263) U/L], lactate dehydrogenase [(1016 +/- 568) U/L vs (1512 +/- 1052) U/L], creatine kinase [(1099 +/- 1590) U/L vs (2534 +/- 4281) U/L] and MB isoenzyme of creatine kinase [(28 +/- 30) U/L vs (125 +/- 197) U/L] (P>0.05) between the survival and the non-survival groups. However, there was a statistically significant difference in the number of patients with an initial LDH level more than 8 fold of the normal value between the survival and the non-survival groups (none vs 6, P<0.05). All of the 28 cases developed bilateral multiple infiltrates and consolidation in chest radiographs. Acute respiratory distress syndrome occurred in 22 cases, 17 of them died. All the 9 patients with acute kidney injury died. Ten patients received antiviral treatment with oseltamivir, and 6 of them survived. There was a statistical difference in the time of initiating oseltamivir treatment between the survival and the non-survival cases [(6.5 +/- 3.0) d vs (11.8 +/- 3.3) d, Z = 3.70, P<0.05]. Broad spectrum antibiotics and corticosteroids were administered in all of the 28 cases. There was no statistical difference between the survival and the non-survival groups regarding to the corticosteroid treatment (P>0.05)., Conclusions: Initial LDH level reaching more than 8 fold of the normal value suggests a poor prognosis for human H5N1 infection. Patients complicated with either ARDS or acute kidney injury had a higher risk of death. Early administration of effective antiviral agents might improve the prognosis and decrease case fatality.

Objective: To investigate the association of obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) with coronary atherosclerotic disease (CAD)., Methods: From March of 2005 to December of 2005, 82 subjects admitted into Department of Cardiology of The First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University were recruited. They were divided into three groups based on their nocturnal apnea hypopnea index (AHI) detected by examination of polysomnography (PSG): mild OSAHS group (5 < AHI < or = 20, 38 cases), moderate-to-severe group (AHI > 20, 20 cases) and control group (AHI < 5, 24 cases). Coronary artery angiography and Gensini Score for assessing the severity of coronary atherosclerosis were performed in all three groups., Results: Compared with the control group, the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) was significantly higher in OSAHS groups [10.9 (7.7 - 15.2), 29.3 (23.3 - 48.4) vs 2.9 (1.9 - 3.8)]. The minimal SpO(2) was significantly lower (84 +/- 9)%, (81 +/- 9)% in OSAHS groups than that in the control group (89 +/- 6)%. The incidence of CAD was significantly higher [66% (25/38) and 95% (19/20)] in OSAHS groups than in the control group [17% (4/24)]. The percentage of patients with single-coronary-vessel disease was 24% (9/38) in mild OSAHS group, 20% (4/20) in moderate-to-severe OSAHS group, and 17% (4/24) in control group. The patients with multi-coronary-vessel disease were 42% (16/38) in mild OSAHS group, 80% (16/20) in moderate-to-severe OSAHS group, and 12.5% (3/24) in control group. Gensini Score was significantly higher in moderate-to-severe OSAHS group than that in control group [35.0 (16.5 - 87.0), 1.0 (0.0 - 5.0)]. Moreover, a positive correlation was revealed between AHI and Gensini Score., Conclusion: OSAHS may be a significant independent risk factor of coronary atherosclerosis and CAD and should be taken into account in CAD secondary prevention.

Objective: To screen and identify the recombinants from the cDNA library of the adult Paragonimus westermani(PwA) for immunodiagnosis and immunoprophylaxis., Methods: PwA cDNA library was screened with the PwA antigen immunized rabbit sera(IRS) pre-absorbed by the extract of E. coli XL1-Blue. The recombinants from positive clones were amplified by PCR, sequenced and cut off by KpmI/BamHI and, then sub-cloned into pRESETB vector. The fusion protein was expressed, analysed by SDS-PAGE and identified by Western blotting with immune rabbit serum against worm antigen of Paragonimus westermani., Results: The inserted cDNA fragment from the positive clone Pw-2 was about 800 bp, which contained an open reading frame(ORF) encoding Pw pre-procathepsin L belonging to cysteinase family. Expression product of Pw-2 was a fusion protein of 32 kDa, which can be recognized by immune rabbit serum against worm antigen of Paragominus westermani., Conclusion: A recombinant plasmid Pw-2 encodes Pw pre-procathepsin L is constructed.
