This study clarifies the issues and countermeasures for utilization of game meat by investigating two advanced cases, focusing on the internalization of uncertainly in the capture, transport, and processing stages. The main results are as follows. First, in the capture stage, the uncertainty is internalized in both advanced cases by freezing game meat or teaching the techniques to hunters. Second, in the transport stage, this is done using light vehicles for refrigeration. Third, in the processing stage, this is done by improving hygiene management in divided workspaces. This study examines the case of Hamamatsu City to explain the farming by firms using abandoned cultivated lands after the introduction of budgetary measures for its revitalization and utilization in FY2009. The results of the study highlight that the budgetary measures helped increase the number of firms using abandoned cultivated lands in the first half of the decade from 2010. Textbooks are edited according to the Course of Study (COS), whose new version was announced in 2017 and will be fully implemented in 2020. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology entrusts textbook editing to private publishers, expecting them to edit textbooks with ingenuity according to the COS. This study used elementary school mathematics as an example to demonstrate how the editing of textbooks reflects the revised COS and to consider what types of concerns and essential ideas are necessary during this process. [Purpose] The purposes of this study were to assess the relationships between the angular velocity of knee extension using a gyro-sensor and physical functions of the frail elderly, and to confirm the safety of this protocol. [Subjects] The participants of this study were 170 older people (age ± standard deviation 78.6 ± 5.6) who participated in an exercise program for frailty. [Method] Angular velocity and strength of knee extension and other functions such as walking ability were measured. Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple linear regression analysis were used to examine the relationships between maximal knee joint angular velocity and the functional performance measurements. [Result] The angular velocity of knee extension was significantly correlated with all the physical functions measured, except for grip strength, and was found to be more highly correlated with the physical functions measured than knee extension strength in multiple linear regression analysis. Hornet silks, fibrous proteins present in the cocoon produced by the larvae of vespa species, are composed of four major proteins. Complete amino acid sequences of the four major proteins (Vssilk 1-4) in the hornet silk produced by the yellow hornet (Vespa simillima, Vespinae, Vespidae) have been determined. The amino acid sequences in Vssilk 1-4 are highly divergent, but the four proteins have some common properties. The most attractive feature of these proteins is that they have an α-helix region, which includes coiled-coil α-helices, and a β-sheet region. The aforementioned coiled-coil and β-sheet structures are responsible for the intermolecular binding between the Vssilk 1-4 proteins that make up the composite structure in hornet silk. This coiled-coil structure is restored when hornet silk gel films are formed by pressing and drying hornet silk hydrogel. Drawing-induced changes in the orientation and conformation of the coiled-coil structure are investigated in order to clarify the reason for the formation of this structure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A scale was constructed to investigate the dietary life style of Japanese college students relating to dietary life, mental health, and eating disorders. Exploratory factor analysis found four factors, termed "dietary mood," "dietary regulation," "dietary stress avoidance behavior," and "food safety." Cluster analysis revealed four typical dietary habits of Japanese college students: "deprecating food safety," "dietary regulation oriented and infrequent dietary stress avoidance behavior," "deprecating dietary moods," and "frequent dietary stress avoidance behavior." Regarding eating disorders, a high percentage of the moderate eating disorder group exhibited frequent dietary stress avoidance behavior. Regarding mental health, a high percentage of the healthy group showed dietary regulation orientation and infrequent dietary stress avoidance behavior. A high percentage of the neurotic-level participants deprecated dietary moods. These results suggest that dietary regulation and deprecatory mood and infrequent dietary stress avoidance behavior lead to college students having a healthy dietary life. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
