Objective: To establish an indicator system for surveillance of data sources to provide a theoretical basis for respiratory infectious disease surveillance and early warning. Methods: Indicators for data sources in the surveillance of acute respiratory infectious diseases were initially compiled through a literature search. Subsequently, two rounds of expert consultations were conducted with 22 experts using the Delphi method to refine the indicators. Results: The questionnaire recovery rates for the two rounds of expert consultation were 100.00% and 86.36%, respectively. The authority coefficient of the experts was 0.83. The coordination coefficient of the second round of Delphi expert consultation was 0.32, and the coefficient of variation of each indicator was less than 0.25. Finally, the indicators system of data source for the surveillance of acute respiratory infectious diseases includes 4 first-level indicators, 10 second-level indicators, and 26 third-level indicators. Conclusion: The indicator system of data sources for the surveillance of acute respiratory infectious diseases constructed in this study is reasonable and reliable, providing a valuable reference for surveillance, early warning and policy formulation of acute respiratory infectious diseases.

Monkeypox is a zoonosis caused by monkeypox virus. Monkeypox virus belongs to the Orthopoxviruses genus in the Poxviridae family, which is regarded as the most important Orthopoxvirus infection in human beings after the extinction of smallpox. Since the first human monkeypox case was reported in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1970, monkeypox has become endemic in Central and West African. From May 6 to July 15, 2022, monkeypox has broken out in many countries. Monkeypox cases have been detected in 62 countries and regions. Moreover, human to human transmission has occurred and attracted high global attention. Monkeypox virus has been discovered for more than 60 years, but the understanding and research of its natural host, epidemiological characteristics and treatment are still relatively limited. Therefore, this study analyzes the epidemic situation, the possible causes of the outbreak and the future key research directions, and puts forward countermeasures to provide scientific basis for the prevention and control of monkeypox.

Clear vertical variations in phytoplankton community structure are usually observed in deep-water lakes and reservoirs, which is one of the key components of water quality and ecosystem functioning. However, the vertical patterns and ecological drivers of phytoplankton communities in deep-water lakes and reservoirs are still understudied. In this study, we took Qiandao Lake, a deep-water reservoir, as an example to reveal the vertical distribution characteristics of phytoplankton communities and its influencing factors by investigating phytoplankton community structure and the associated water quality index at 12 sites across the whole lake in two seasons (spring and autumn). The results showed that the phytoplankton abundance and chlorophyll a were highest in the surface layer in autumn and then decreased toward deep water, whereas in spring, the maximum value occurred in the subsurface layer (2-5 m), and the dominant phytoplankton species showed obvious vertical stratification characteristics. Specifically, in spring, Cryptomonas and Pseudanabaena dominated the surface and subsurface layers, Cryptomonas dominated in the middle layer, and the abundance of Cyclotella at the bottom layer was significantly higher than that of the other algae genera. The dominant genera in autumn were Pseudanabaena and Aphanizomenon . In the subsurface and middle layers, Leptolyngbya and Pseudanabaena occupied the dominant position, and Leptolyngbya became the only dominant genus. In the bottom layer, Leptolyngbya was the only dominant genus. The key environmental indicators of the water also had obvious vertical changes. The contents of N and P nutrients had a negative correlation with the water depth in spring, whereas the reverse trend was observed in autumn. The correlation analysis showed that the vertical variation in phytoplankton abundance in spring was significantly positively correlated with phosphate concentration, whereas the vertical distribution of phytoplankton abundance in autumn was significantly positively correlated with intensity of light, and the water temperature, NH 4 + -N, and total nitrogen were the main factors driving the vertical changes in the dominant genera of phytoplankton community in the two seasons. To summarize, environmental conditions such as water temperature, light, and nutrients had strong effects on the vertical distribution of phytoplankton. In the ecological investigation and quality assessment of deep-water lakes and reservoirs, the vertical distribution characteristics of the phytoplankton community structure and the influence of environmental conditions should be fully considered.

Objective: To analyze the etiological and epidemiological characteristics of Vibrio cholerae in Beijing during 2015-2021 and provide evidence for the prevention and control of cholera. Methods: The V. cholerae strains isolated in Beijing during 2015-2021 were analyzed by serotyping and virulence genes detection. Pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) was performed for the molecular typing of the strains. Based on the collected epidemiological and clinical data of cholera cases,the epidemiological characteristics of cholera were analyzed by descriptive epidemiology method. Results: A total of 76 Vibrio cholerae O1 strains were isolated in Beijing during 2015-2021, including 61 strains from human, 10 strains from environment and 5 strains from seafood. The 76 strains consisted of 68 Ogawa strains and 8 Inaba strains. Six Ogawa strains isolated from sporadic cases carried ctxAB . After Not Ⅰ digestion, 76 strains were divided into 33 PFGE patterns. From 2015 to 2021, a total of 38 cholera epidemics were reported in Beijing, most of them were sporadic ones, accounting for 92.11% (35/38). A total of 45 cases were reported, and the cases occurred during June-September accounted for 97.78% (44/45). Cholera cases occurred in 9 districts of Beijing, and the cases reported in Chaoyang district accounted for 42.22% (19/45) and in Changping district accounted for 31.11% (14/45). The age of the cholera cases ranged from 19 to 63 years. Except for one case with unknown clinical symptoms, 44 cases had diarrhea symptoms with 84.09% (37/44) of the cases reporting diarrhea (3-9 times/day), followed by yellow watery stool (95.45%, 42/44), abdominal pain (68.18%, 30/44), nausea and vomiting (40.91%, 18/44) and fever (36.36%, 16/44). Conclusion: Vibrio cholerae strains isolated in Beijing during 2015-2021 were mainly O1 serotype Ogawa,most of which were non-toxigenic. The PFGE of the strains varied. Cholera epidemics occurred in 9 districts of Beijing, but most were sporadic ones with incidence peak during June-September.

Objective: To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) among people ≥6 years old in Beijing from 2011 to 2020. Methods: The incidence data of HFMD cases from 2011 to 2020 were collected from the National Notifiable Infectious Disease Reporting System of China Information for Disease Control and Prevention and the etiological surveillance of HFMD in 29 sentinel hospitals from 16 districts of Beijing. Descriptive epidemiological methods were used to analyze the distributions, pathogen constituents, and changes of HFMD cases in Beijing people ≥6 years old. Results: From 2011 to 2020, a total of 38 183 cases of HFMD were reported among people ≥6 years old in Beijing, of which 46 (0.12%) cases were severe. The average annual reported incidence was 19.04/100 000. The ratio of males to females were 1.37∶1(22 064∶16 119). The proportion of HFMD in people ≥6 years old increased from 7.56%(2 606/34 488) in 2011 to 24.54% (546/2 225) in 2020. The average incidence of HFMD was higher in Shunyi district, Yanqing district, and Tongzhou district than in other districts in Beijing. The positive rate of enterovirus in sentinel surveillance was 66.78% (1 976/2 959), the proportion of enterovirus group A 71 (EV-A71) was 45.29% (101/223) in 2014, no EV-A71 positive was detected in 2020, and the proportion of Coxsackievirus A 6 (CV-A6) increased from 15.11% (34/225) in 2016 to 81.08% (60/74) in 2020. Conclusions: From 2011 to 2020, the proportion of cases with HFMD in people ≥6 years old in Beijing increased yearly, and the proportion of EV-A71 positive patients decreased basically. Since 2016, CV-A6 has gradually become the dominant pathogen. More attention should be paid to the epidemic situation and dynamic pathogen changes of hand foot mouth disease in people ≥6 years old.

Abstract: Objective To provide reference indexes and theoretical basis for age estimation of blood pools by investigating the entire drying process and monitoring the change of morphology and mass. Methods Four 15 mL blood pool samples were prepared on the clean ceramic plate. The change of morphology and mass of blood pools in a closed dark environment with a temperature of （20.0±0.5） ℃ and a humidity of 35%-45% were dynamically observed from 0 h to 60 h. Images of the blood pools were recorded by digital camera. The area of blood pools was calculated by MATLAB R2014b, the length of cracks was measured by Image J and the statistical analysis was performed by SPSS 16.0. Results By summarizing and analyzing, the drying of blood pools was divided into five stages： coagulation （0-4.5 h）, gelation （>4.5-20.0 h）, gel-solid mixing （>20.0-37.0 h）, solid （>37.0-40.0 h） and final desiccation （>40.0-45.0 h）. From 0 to 45 h, the mass of the blood pools decreased linearly with time, and the decrease was not obvious from 45.0 to 60.0 h. The standardized mass （ y 2 ） showed strong correlation with the time （ x ） y 2 =0.018 2 x +0.271 4（ R 2 =0.967 9）. The area change rate of blood pools, the distance that the edge of blood pools moved, the average length of radical cracks had little correlation with the time that passed. Since 2010, the incidence of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) has ranked top in notifiable infectious disease in China, causing economic losses to many families and the society of China. This paper summarizes the related methods, results and problems systematically in the research of economic burden of HFMD in China to provide reference for the better estimation of the economic burden caused by HFMD. Many studies showed that HFMD, especially severe and fatal cases, had posed heavy economic burden on the society. To mitigate the burden caused by HFMD, it is necessary to decrease the risk of severe and fatal cases, as well as to reduce the incidence of mild cases.

Objective: To understand the characteristics relating to the etiology and complications of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) based on data from the pilot National Sentinel Surveillance (NSS) program so as to explore the feasibility, advantages and disadvantages of the NSS. Methods: Data were extracted from the NSS system, conducted in 11 provinces of China from November 2015 to October 2016. Characteristics regarding the etiology, complications of HFMD and factors related to the positive rates of HFMD specimens were analyzed under the logistic regression method by SPSS 20.0 software. Results: A total of 4 783 specimens were collected, including 3 390 from mild, 1 390 from severe and 3 from death cases. The overall positive rate was 81.43% (3 895/4 783). Other enteroviruses (non EV71/Cox A16 enteroviruses) appeared the major serotype (52.68%, 1 482/2 813) for mild infection of the disease while EV71 was for the severe cases (65.31%, 706/1 081). The serotype spectrum revealed by the pilot NSS was almost identical with the existing surveillance system. Other enteroviruses tended to infect younger children ( χ (2)=130.17, P <0.001) than EV71 and Cox A16, in China. The multivariate logistic regression results showed that higher positive rate was associated with specimens which were collected from males, at children' hospitals, in peak seasons, timely and in stools. The positive rates presented downwarding trends with the extension of the onset-sampling interval ( χ (2)=14.47, P <0.001 in stool specimen; χ (2)=31.99, P <0.001 in throat swab; χ (2)=24.26, P <0.001 in anal swab). Aseptic meningitis, non-brainstem encephalitis and brainstem encephalitis appeared the top three complications of both EV71-associated and other enteroviruses-associated severe HFMD cases. Conclusions: Factors as gender, season/place/timeliness of specimen collection, and types of hospital all appeared independently influenced the positive rates. NSS seemed feasible to be used as an alternative or supplement tool to the existing surveillance program in China.

Objective: To explore the temporal pattern of postmortem color changes in the pupil region of the cornea for noninvasive estimation of the postmortem interval (PMI)., Methods: Two rabbit models of air embolism and drowning were established in a dark room at a temperature of 20 ℃ with a relative humidity of 30%. The corneal images of the rabbits were acquired using a digital camera at two-hour intervals within 72 h after death. The pupil region on the corneal images was segmented using computer image processing technique (MATLAB), and the parameters of 6 image color features (RGBHSV) were extracted. Regression analysis was used to analyze the relationship between these parameters and the PMI, and the effects of different death causes on the changes of the corneal color features were also assessed., Results: Within 72 h after death from different causes, the R, G and B values of the pupil region on the corneal images all tended to increase with the PMI, showing a good fitting with the PMI ( P &lt; 0.01). No significant correlation was found between the values of H, S and V and the PMI ( P &gt;0.05). The R, G and B values in the pupil region on the corneal images showed consistent variation trends after death from the two causes, and their correlations with PMI were also similar. The measured values of R, G and B in air embolism group were greater than those in the drowning group., Conclusions: The postmortem color changes of the pupil region on corneal images follow an identifiable temporal pattern and can vary across different causes of death. The regression equations established in this study provide references for non-invasive and objective estimation of the PMI.

Objective: To investigate the clinical severity, etiological classification and risk factors of severe cases with hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD). Methods: A total of 1 489 records on severe and fatal HFMD cases reported to the national pilot surveillance system of HFMD were used to analyze the demographic, medical treatment, etiological classification of the cases. Treatment outcome related risk factors were also studied with multi-variable stepwise logistic regression method. Results: Seven out of the 1 489 severe HFMD cases died of this disease. A total of 960 (72.9 % ) were under three years old and 62.9 % were male and most of the cases (937, 62.9 % ) resided in rural areas. Among all the cases, 494 (33.2 % ) went to seek the first medical assistance at the institutions of village or township level. Durations between disease onset and first medical attendance, being diagnosed as the disease or diagnosed as severe cases were 0(0-1) d, 1 (0-2) d and 2 (1-4) d, respectively. In total, 773 (51.9 % ) of the severe HFMD cases were diagnosed as with aseptic meningitis, 260 (17.5 % ) with brainstem encephalitis, 377 (25.3 % ) with non-brainstem encephalitis, 6 (0.4 % ) with encephalomyelitis, 1 (0.1 % ) with acute flaccid paralysis, 4 (0.3 % ) with pulmonary hemorrhage/pulmonary edema and 68 (4.6 % ) with cardiopulmonary failure. Of the etiologically diagnosed 1 217 severe and fatal HFMD cases, 642 (52.8 % ) were with EV71, other enterovirus 261 (21.5 % ), Cox A16 36 (3.0 % ), 1 (0.1 % ) with both EV71 and Cox A16. However, 277 (22.8 % ) showed negative on any pathogenic virus. Complication ( Z =3.15, P =0.002) and duration between onset and diagnosed as severe cases ( Z =3.95, P <0.001) were shown as key factors related to treatment outcomes. Conclusions: Most severe HFMD cases appeared in boys, especially living in the rural areas. Frequently seen complications would include aseptic meningitis, non-brainstem encephalitis and brainstem encephalitis. EV71 was the dominant etiology for severe and fatal cases. Early diagnosis and complication control were crucial, related to the treatment outcome of HFMD.

Forest leaf area index (LAI) is an important indicator to describe the forest canopy structure and growth status of trees. In this paper, the Yigen area of Inner Mongolia was selected as the study area. Taken full account of the differences among different echo types, the LiDAR point cloud data were split into different single lasers. Then, intensity normalization was implemented for LiDAR point cloud data with the range between sensor and target. Based on the normalized intensity data, a new laser penetration index, called single laser beam penetration index (LPI s ), was calculated along with the calculation of traditional LPI. These two laser penetration indexes were used to estimate the forest LAI based on the theoretical model and empirical model on four different sampling scales (5, 10, 15, and 20 m), respectively, which aimed to improve the retrieval accuracy of forest LAI through laser beam splitting. The results showed that the forest LAI estimated from mean LPI s (LPI mean ) was obviously better than that from traditional LPI. In addition, both of the empirical [R 2 =0.80, mean absolute deviation (MAD)=0.11] and theoretical models (R 2 =0.77, MAD=0.16) achieved the best performances with sampling scale of 15 m. The mapping of birch forest LAI for the study area was derived by integrating both the advantages of best empirical and theoretical models.

Objective: To investigate the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of norovirus infection on diarrhea patients from the enteric clinics in Beijing., Methods: From April 2013 to March 2014, 1 892 fecal specimens and related epidemiological information were collected among diarrhea patients visiting the enteric clinics in Beijing. Norovirus was detected by real time RT-PCR, and data was analyzed under the descriptive epidemiological method., Results: A total of 269 positive cases were found among 1 892 diarrhea patients, with a positive rate as 14.2%. Norovirus caused diarrhea mainly occurred in seasons with lower temperature. Higher positive rates of norovirus were found in northwest mountainous area. Norovirus diarrhea was more commonly seen in children between 6 month and 5 years old, with differences between the two groups statistically significant (P = 0.006). Compared with other occupation, a higher infection rate was identified in children, with differences between the two groups statistically significant (P = 0.025). Nausea and vomiting appeared more common in diarrhea patients with norovirus infection, with differences between the two groups statistically significant (P < 0.05)., Conclusion: Norovirus was an important pathogen which causing diarrhea in patients visiting the enteric clinics in Beijing. The virus was seen more in patients aged between 6 months and 5 years old. Nausea and vomiting were the common symptoms seen in patients with norovirus diarrhea.

Objective: To compare five selective media to isolate human Bifidobacterium., Methods: Feces from six healthy human volunteers were diluted and cultivated on five Bifidobacterium selective media. After anaerobic cultivation, bacterial colonies were counted, selected and identified. Meanwhile, bacterial genomic DNA was extracted from the feces samples, and the Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis (DGGE) and Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (q-PCR) were applied to reveal the diversity of Bifidobacterium., Results: The amount of Bifidobacterium grown on BSM and BLM media was similar to the result detected by q-PCR and was significantly higher than that on three other media. Bifidobacterium isolated from BLM medium was similar to the identified result of DGGE profile., Conclusion: BLM medium is the best selective medium for Bifidobacterium isolation from human gastrointestinal tract.

Objective: To investigate the protective effect of Yigan Fuzheng Paidu Capsules (YC) combined with medical ozone against hepatic injury in dogs induced by hepatotoxic drug., Methods: Twenty-four dogs were randomized equally into 4 groups (n=6), namely the model group, oleanolic acid tablet (OAT) group, YC group and YC+O(3) group, given either no particular treatment, oral OAT at 10 mg/day, oral YC at 0.2 g/day, or YC at 0.2 g/day plus 150 ml medical ozone transrectal insufflation every other day, respectively, for totally 30 consecutive days. Acute hepatic injury was induced after the treatment in the dogs with a sing-dose intraperitoneal injection of 0.9 ml/kg CCl(4) and peanut oil mixture (1:1, W/W). The general condition, survival time, alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase/alanine aminotransferase (AST/ALT), serum total bilirubin (TBIL), prothrombin time (PT), blood ammonia (AMMO), and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) were recorded or measured. The hepatic pathological changes were observed upon death or on day 15 following CCl(4) injection., Results: Compared with the other 3 treatment protocols, YC plus O(3) showed favorable effects on the activity, mental state, diet, urination and defecation of the dogs, which had significantly higher survival rate and higher levels of ALT, TBIL, PT, and AMMO than the model and OAT groups (P<0.05). AST/ALT remained normal in YC+O(3) group, which had also milder hepatic injury than the other 3 groups., Conclusions: YC combined with medical ozone may decrease transaminase and blood ammonia levels, relieve jaundice, prolong the survival time of dogs with CCl(4)-induced hepatic injury.

This research amplified the phyA gene with the designed and synthesized primers specific for the phyA gene full-length coding sequence. The phyA gene was from Aspergillus niger F246 by the polymerase chain reaction(PCR), which is selected and identified in our laboratory. After sequncing the coding sequence, it was confirmed that the construction of cloning vector was succeeded. The phyA gene fragment was recovered from the pMD18T-phyA and ligated with prokaryotic expression vector pET30a+ to construct the recombinant expression plasmid pET30a+ -phyA. It was expressed with IPTG induction in E. coli for high efficiency. A new protein band with apparent molecular weight 50 kDa was detected in the lysate of the transformed cell by using SDS-PAGE. The amount of the soluble fusion protein was about 40% of large intestine bacillus soluble protein of transformed cells, estimated by absorbance scanning of SDS-PAGE and protein quantitation. It's phytase activity was eight times over the natural phyase. So this research provides the basis of the study on obtaining large and high active phytase and developmant of the new microbial ecologicalagent.

Biocompatibility has always been the focal point in the study of biomaterials applied to medical apparatus. But at present, the standard system hasn't formed completely to evaluate the biomaterials. In recent years scientists tend to use general standard of evaluation. In this article, based on the recalcification time, the adhesion of platelets as well as the total quantity of plasma protein and some other evidences, combining with the Analytic hierarchy process (AHP), the method of general evaluation on the biocompatibility of anticoagulant biomaterials was discussed.

Good anticoagulant biomaterials need good surface chemical properties, good mechanics performances and particularly good characteristics of biocompatibility, including tissue compatibility and hemocompatibility. In order to understand with greater clearness the anticoagulant biomaterial, we have to characterize them by different methods. In this paper, the approaches to assessing and displaying the characteristics of anticoagulant biomaterial are reviewed in three aspects, namely the surface chemical properties and structure, the mechanics performances the and the biocompatibility of anticoagulant biomaterial.

The treatment of stained teeth has been one of the striking aspects of stomatology and esthetic dentistry. Based on detailed data and references, this article introduces the types of stained teeth and the main treatment methods including strong point, weakness, limitation of the usage, result, and the relevant mechanisms. It addresses the researches on problems in the treatment of stained teeth. Also in this paper is envisaged what will be done to treat the stained teeth in future.

Objective: To investigate the risk factors for hip fracture in women and men aged 50 years and older., Methods: A matched case - control study was carried out in the urban area of Beijing from Jan. 1994 to May 1996. A total number of 201 cases having had hip fracture were identified by X - ray films in four hospitals of Beijing. Four hundred and two neighbourhood controls were individually matched with these cases by age and sex. Data were analyzed by statistical technique of Chi-square test and conditional logistic regression., Results: In a multiple conditional logistic regression model, low dietary calcium intake, previous history of more sedantary position, lack of calcium supplement, low body mass index, current low physical exercise, never living in rural, sedentary position at work, previous fractures of any type after the age of 50, history of family hip fracture and diabetes mellitus were significantly associated with increased risk of hip fracture. In addition, hip fracture was related to the age of menopause and duration of breastfeeding in women, as well as body height in men., Conclusion: Hip fracture is a disease with multiple risk factors which are different with sex.

Objective: To probe into the possibility of application of electrophoresis in the identification of caulis drugs., Method: The isoenzymes of peroxidase, esterase and amylase in six kinds of caulis drug with similar characteristics were analyzed by means of polyacrylamide gel slab electrophoresis., Result: The bands of isoenzymogram of peroxidase are the clearest of all, and band number and mobility rates of the six drugs differ from one another, showing a remarkable interspecific distinction., Conclusion: Electrophoresis of isoenzymes of peroxidase can be employed as one of the effective means in differentiating caulis drugs.
