Objective: To discuss the clinical characteristic of Electroglottography (EGG) curves of pathological voice in adult., Method: Four hundred and fifty-three adults with pathological voices were examined by EGG and the abnormal EGG curves were analyzed., Result: (1) the EGG cycle was composed of contact phase (CP) and open phase (OP), the ratio of CP/OP was between 0.70 to 2.95, otherwise it was abnormal; (2) the CP was composed of closing-contact phase (CCP) and contact-opening phase (COP); the OP was composed of opening-open phase (OOP) and open-closing phase (OCP); (3) the abnormal formations of every phases in vibration cycle contained: smooth CCP, notches in CCP, flat in wave peak, steep COP, notches in COP, knurls in COP, knurls in OOP and in OCP; duplicate waves and irregular waves were fewer, but they reflected the special vibratory patterns of pathological voices; (5) Each abnormal formation fell as the follow: COP>OP>CCP. Each pathological voices presented different characteristics; (6) combined variance appeared in part pathological voices, such as single vocal polyps, double vocal polyps, Reinke edema and glottic laryngocarcinoma. COP combined with OOP was the most usual., Conclusion: The abnormal variance formations of EGG curves of pathological voices in adult are intricate and they have inherent relations with each other. The establishment of OP variance increases the pathological EGG and the OP abnormities is CP abnormities. There are different orientations and rules in different pathological voices.

Objective To explore the clinic value of the vocal acoustics on voice evaluation in larynx leukoplakia patients. Methods Dr. Speech software was used to perform voice acoustic analysis and deduce EGG parameters in 48 subjects with larynx leukoplakia and 50 normal subjects. Voice acoustic analysis parameters (Jitter, Shimmer, NNE, HNR, SNR, MPT), EGG parameters ( EGG-Jitter、EGG-Shimmer、EGG-NNE、EGG-HNR、EGG-SNR, CQP,CIP) and EGG waveform were compared between two groups. Results For voice acoustic analysis, Jitter, Shimmer, NNE in larynx leukoplakia group were higher than those in normal group while HNR, SNR in larynx leukoplakia group were lower than those of normal group. What's more，MPT in larynx leukoplakia group was obviously shorter than that in normal group with, statistically significant difference (P＜0.05). For EGG analysis, EGG-Jitter, EGG-Shimmer, EGG-NNE were higher in larynx leukoplakia group than those in normal group with significant difference (P＜0.05). EGG-HNR and EGG-SNR in larynx leukoplakia group were lower than those in normal group. Furthermore, CQP and CIP in larynx leukoplakia group were higher than those normal group with statistically significant difference (P＜0.05). Most patients' (72.9%) EGG waveform showed gradually accelerate phase velocity and fast close phase, which represent a spike-like shape. Conclusion Voice acoustic analysis combined with EGG provide objective indicators to assess degree of hoarseness, and to provide sonic evidences for prevention, recurrence, assessment and pronunciation correction of the larynx leukoplakia. Objective: To explore the relationship between electroglottography/acoustic test parameter and disease diagnosis., Method: 3.0 software by Dr. Speech was used to test synchronically the electroglottography and acoustic test parameter of 503 cases so as to make a statistical analysis and comparison., Result: The shimmer was similar with the jitter on the inspection of polyp of vocal cord and vocal nodules, but the shimmer was more susceptive than the jitter. Compared with the healthy group, mean F0, jitter and shimmer of polyp of vocal cord increased, while the Harmonic-to-Noise decreased, so did the vocal nodules and carcinoma of larynx. Compared with the normal, the contact index of carcinoma of larynx increased, but the contact quotient remained on the same level., Conclusion: EGG, acoustic test number comparison and wave change provide an objective quantized index for the diagnosis of laryngeal diseases.

Objective: To explore a new surgical approach for treating unilateral vocal cord paralysis., Methods: Five cases of unilateral vocal cord paralysis due to various causes were treated with modified type I thyroplasty. Laryngostroboscopy and electroglottography were performed before and after the operations., Results: The vocal cords were shifted very close to the median line in all the 5 cases postoperatively as shown by laryngostroboscopy and electroglottography. Complete closure of the glottis was achieved. The patients had almost normal results of electroglottography, and the vocal sound nearly recovered normal or was significantly improved., Conclusion: Modified type I thyroplasty is effective, safe and easy in treating unilateral vocal cord paralysis.

Objective: To discuss the influence of changes in vocal cords' cover-body on their vibratory pattern., Methods: Fifty adult patients with vocal polyps were observed by telescopic videolaryngostroboscopy and detected by electroglottography (EGG). We examined the vocal cords' vibratory pattern according to laryngostroboscopic image and discussed the change of vocal cords' vibratory parameters and EGG curves., Results: The vocal cords' vibratory parameters and EGG curves changed with different vocal polyps. All vocal polyps affect the regularity(REG), amplitude (AMP), glottal closure(GLO) and mucosal wave(MUC) of laryngostroboscopic image; the symmetry(SYM), REG and GLO bore linear correlation to the notches in EGG curves, the REG and MUC bore linear correlation to the steep changes; micro-polyps with pedicles reduced the vibratory parameters CQ and F0, the main abnormalities were notches in EGG curves; the changes in macro-polyps with pedicles were the same as the micropolyps except increased CQ. All vocal polyps with wide bases either single or bilateral, had increased CQ and F0, the main abnormalities were steep in contact opening phase and flat in wave peak., Conclusions: Studies with laryngostroboscopy and EGG revealed how the vocal polyps affected vocal cords' cover-body, changed the vibratory pattern of vocal cords, and factors regulating vocal cords' vibratory pattern.
