The aims of the study were to understand the required competences for editors working in today’s technology-driven publishing industry. The study used the Qualitative Research Method, which included Document Analysis, Functional analysis, In-Depth Interviews with Experts, Experts Meeting, Triangulation and combined with the qualitative analysis software, ATLAS.ti, to analyze a wide range of competence parameters; a relationship-network diagram was then compiled. The results of this study were 4 main functions and 14 sub-functions and their job function concepts of competence to establish Competence Map for Digital Publishing Editors. The study results will be provided as a useful guidance and criteria for publishing industry to recruit, colleges and universities to teach and train and government to select talents. It also should help to assist editors’ transformation and improve their working efficiencies as well as enhancing the development of Digital Publishing industries in Taiwan.

The special political and cultural context in the Japanese-occupied Shanghai led to the special literary atmosphere which restricted the freedom of literary creation. This restriction is first reflected in the themes of literary writings at that time. By focusing on the three most popular literary themes in that period, i. e. ordinary life, female life and historical subjects, this paper tries to investigate what role was played by the literary editors in the selection of literary themes and reveal the meaning of literary creation based on such themes in that special historical period. Zang Maoxun has always been studied for his editorship and publication of Yuanqu Xuan and his achievements in drama, and rare for his literary creation and cultural influences. Actually, he was very active in the Wanli period for making friends, organizing associations, travelling, writing poetry and songs, editing books around the Jing, Ying, Nanjing, and Hangzhou areas, so he had influenced the gentlemenś atmosphere in Jiangnan in the late Ming. This article presents a detailed account of the various revisions and annotations of the Annals of Taizu (Taizu benji) in the Draft History of the Qing dynasty (Qing shigao). Since different parts of the Draft History were housed in Beijing and Taipei, scholars have not been able to compare the versions until 1978, when Taiwanese scholars published the first annotated Draft History of the Qing Dynasty. Between 2007 and 2008, further refinements of unpublished sections of ji (annals of emperors), zhi (record of events), biao (lists of officials), zhuan (biographies of notable figures) were published for the first time by the National Palace Museum in Taipei. Based on these and other historical materials, the author discusses the reasons for the errors in the Annals of Taizu.

Traditionalists have long hailed Xiao Tong as the key editor of the Wen xuan, justifying their belief with reference to the Liang shu. However, Japanese scholar Shimizu Yoshio is sceptical about its validity, arguing that his involvement is falsified and unfounded. Subsequently, he proposed Liu Xiaocuo to be the true editor. However, many Chinese mainland scholars have resounded in disagreement. This paper endeavours to contribute to this long-standing Wen xuan editorship debate through a thorough analysis of the differences between the poems of Xiao and Liu and the new literary styles of the Qi-Liang period. Xiao and Liu approached the trend of innovation in Qi and Liang with distinctly different attitudes. Xiao remained traditional in his approach, demonstrating little interest in the trend of innovation. Conversely, Liu's poetry exuded the colour and vigour of Yongming literature. When the selection of works in the Wen xuan is concerned, it is evident that Jin and Song literary works were of primary importance while records of Yongming literature were few and secondary in nature. With this in mind, one is more inclined to believe that Xiao's traditional literary style bears greater semblance to that of the Wen xuan. Hence, on the basis of the above literary similarity, this paper argues that Xiao's editorship of the Wen xuan is beyond doubt. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Tang Yin's poems were first published in the form of a selected collection. The compiler Yuan Zhi, a friend of Tang's, distorted the style of die poet by sticking to his own preference for revivalism. Until Yuan Hangdao and another two editors He Dacheng and Qian Qianyi from the Yushan School gave due appreciation to Tang's poetry and made a new collection of his poems from a different perspective did Tang's original style begin to show its real face before his readers. The improvements of Tang's collection and the changes in its evaluation show that there is a direct relation between the evolution of the aesthetic taste and the spread and aceeptanoe of the literary works. The compilers, who hold a special position between the writer and his readers, contribute a lot to the complexity of the process of literary transmission, the revelation of which will help us to achieve a deeper understanding of the aesthetic properties of Tang Yin's poetry and the dynamic process of literary transmission. This article compares the content of local gazetteers for Taiwan during two separate periods: the Qing era, from the 1690s to 1911; and the republican era, from the 1950s to the early 1980s. A separate group of gazetteers (17 titles in each group) is analyzed for each period. Categories compared include editorial standards, attitudes toward content and presentation, editorial personnel, and "distressing" features of the publishing enterprise. The analysis of republican-era journals focuses on postwar conditions and the creation of a "comprehensive gazetteer" ("tongzhi") for Taiwan in its new political status. In a four-page commentary at the end of the article, Wang Shiqing discusses Yin's methods for treating personnel, attitudes, internal management, and the various difficulties faced by gazetteer editors and publishers in the two separate periods,.
