- Abstract
The DMPD assay was used for evaluating scavenging effect of several botanical products on free radical DMPD. + The results indicated that 11 kinds of monomeric compounds and sea-buckthorn seed oil exhibited different antioxidant activities in this system. In flavonoids group, quercetin displayed the strongest scavenging capacity, apigenin showed the weakest, ruin and puerarin were medium, at 100 µmol/L, the clearance rate was 55.76 %, 16.64%, 2.25% and nonscavenging, respectively. As phenoiic compounds, ferulic acid showed the strongest action, the clearance rate reached 96.78% at 100 µmol/L. Triterpenoids ursolic acid exhibited more effective than oleanolic acid, at 1 µmol/L they exhibited the highest scavenging rate, 23.05% and 3.05%, respetively. Sea-buckthorn seed oil had the definite effect, the half clear concentration is 12.84 mg/mL. The results provided date to the further use and reasonable concentration in application of these compounds. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
