The construction of marine ranching could restore the marine ecological environment, recover marine fishery resources, and promote the sustainable development of marine fisheries. The construction of marine ranching in China began in the 1970s and has made great achievements. Many domestic scholars had also made plenty of achievements in the researches of marine ranching. Sanya Wuzhizhou Island marine ranching is a tropical island leisure tourism type marine ranching. Through the study of marine ranching in Wuzhizhou Island, it was found that the construction of marine ranching had brought significant ecological, economical, and social benefits to the tourist area. Besides, it had played a great role in the development of ecotourism as well.

This study aimed to research the effectiveness and mode of the disease resistance induced by melatonin (MT) treatment in postharvest plum fruit. Plum fruit Cv ‘Fenghuang’ were treated with 10 mmol/L MT and/or inoculated with R. stolonifer, then stored for 5 days (20 ℃). Disease development, the contents of H2O2, total phenol and lignin and the activities of resistance-related enzyme were determined during the storage. The results showed that 10 mmol/L treatment effectively lowered the disease incidence and delayed the increase of lesion diameter of Rhizopus rot caused by R. stolonifer in plums. Single MT treatment could induce the activities of phenylpropanoid metabolic enzymes and the contents of total phenol and lignin in plums. MT treatment combined with R. tolonifer inoculation showed most significantly effects on the induction of H2O2 burst, and the activities of disease-resistance related enzymes such as chitinase, β-1,3-glucanase, phenylalanine ammonialyase (PAL), cinnamate-4-hydroxylase (C4H), 4-coumaric acid coenzyme A ligase (4-CL), peroxidase (POD) and polyphenol oxidase (PPO) as well as contents of total phenol and lignin in the samples during the storage. These results suggested that the MT treatment could activate the strong and rapid disease resistance upon the pathogenic infection by an induction of priming defence, by which the treatment resultantly maintained the overall quality in plums during the postharvest storage.

Background and objective Galectin-3 is involved in many physical and pathologic process, and is closely correlated with tumorigenesis, development and metastasis. The aim of this study is to investigate the gene expression and significance of Galectin-3 in normal lung tissue and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tissue. Methods Gene expression was examined using the immunohistochemical S-P method in 62 NSCLC cases and in 17 cases with normal lung tissue. RT-PCR verified the expression of Galectin-3 at the transcriptional level. Results The expression rate of Galectin-3 in NSCLC tissue was 83.8% (52/62), which was significantly higher than that in normal lung tissue (P0.05), age (χ2=0.220, P>0.05), and histological type (χ2=0.012, P>0.05), but was negatively correlated with pathological differentiation (r=-0.292, P

Background and objective The aim of this study is to screen for multi-drug resistance-related genes of human non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and provide the evidences for drug-sensitive predicting genes of different NSCLC patients treated with chemotherapeutic drugs. Methods Sensitivity and inhibition ratio of five antitumor drugs (NVB, GEM, TAL, DOC, CDDP) on 75 fresh NSCLC samples from different individuals were studied by means of culturing primary tumor cells and MTT assay. After the five chemotherapeutic drugs were used, multi-drug resistance-related genes of NSCLC with cDNA microarry on the samples which were all high sensitive and those resistant were screened. Results cDNA microarray analysis screened out 212 genes, 168 of which were up-regulated while the other 44 were down-regulated in the group of highly sensitive compared with the group of resistance. Conclusion The multi-drug resistance of NSCLC may be correlative with the 212 genes screened by cDNA microarray; the detailed mechanisms of the genes still need to be detected in the future.

The purpose of this study was to explore the intervention effects of mulberry polyphenols on neurobehavioral toxicity induced by nonylphenol (NP). 70 SPF male SD rats were randomly divided into seven groups: Blank control group (corn oil+saline), Mulberry control group [corn oil+mulberry crude extract (MCE)], NP exposure group (NP+saline), mulberry group (NP+MCE), anthocyanin group (NP+anthocyanin), resveratrol group (NP+resveratrol), combined group (NP+anthocyanin+resveratrol). The gavage amount of MCE was calculated according to 120 mg/kg·bw polyphenol content, and the anthocyanin and resveratrol content corresponded to the content in MCE. Open field test (OFT) and elevated plus maze (EPM) were used to evaluate the intervention effects of mulberry polyphenols on neurobehavioral toxicity of NP, and the levels of thyroxine (FT3, FT4), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and deiodinase (DIO1, DIO2, DIO3) were measured. Food Nutriology is one of the main course for students of Food Science in South China Agricultural University. The teaching group is devoted to reforming and innovation of teaching theory and practice, constantly improving the teaching resource, and applying the technical means of intelligent and information to teaching. The “learning-thinking-distinguishing-applying combination” teaching model is gradually formed. The course is awarded the national top-class undergraduate courses by the Ministry of Education in November 2020. The construction and development process of course, course positioning and objectives, construction of teaching group, course content and resources construction, teaching mode and characteristic innovation are introduced in this paper, to provide some useful references for advancing the construction and teaching reform of food science courses.

Some properties of rotation symmetric orbits were proposed in n dimensional vector space over finite field of characteristic 2,a matrix on the distributions of number pairs such as 00,01 and 11 was defined,and a new characterization of 2-resilient rotation symmetric functions was introduced.Constructions of rotation symmetric 2-resilient Boolean functions with 4t-1 number of variables were presented by modifying the support of the linear rotation symmetric functions,such as f0(x)=x1+x2+…+xn,where n=4t-1.At last,an example was demonstrated to introduce the spirit of the proposed method to construct 2-resilient rotation symmetric functions with 4t-1 number of variables.

Based on the data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) in 2011 and 2013, this paper studied the impact of retirement on male and female workers’ health and its impact mechanism under the mandatory retirement age system in China by using Fuzzy Regression Discontinuity Design (FRDD). The results indicated that retirement increased the probability of men assessing themselves as “healthy” by 25 percentage points and lowered the probability of suffering from chronic diseases for women by 26 percentage points. In terms of mechanism analysis, it was found that the remarkable increase in social interactions after retirement was the main reason for the improvement of health for male retirees, but not the reason for the lower probability of having chronic diseases for female retirees. The findings serve as important references for formulating policies regarding postponing retirement age and flexible retirement.
