Using steel slag for the preparation of mine backfill materials is vital to utilizing its resources. Therefore, this study reviewed the impact of different processing technologies and sources on the physical and chemical properties of steel slag, analyzed the application modes and hydration mechanisms of six kinds of steel slag backfill cementitious materials, and discussed the advantages, disadvantages, and development trends of steel slag in the field of mine backfill. This study indicates that: (1) Desulfurized gypsum could promote the hydration and dissolution of steel slag, while cement clinker, slag, and fly ash provide an alkaline environment for steel slag hydration, and silica fume offers a large amount of highly reactive silicon; (2) Steel slag could improve the workability of filling slurry and increase the late strength of backfill, extend the setting time of backfill material and reduce the early strength of backfill. (3) The addition of steel slag could enhance the plastic deformation characteristics of the backfill body, therefore offering references for the prevention and control of dynamic impact hazards in coal mines.

Objective: To compare the short-term effectiveness and safety of unipedicular versus bipedicular percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) for osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) with posterior wall broken., Methods: The clinical data of 68 patients with OVCF with posterior wall broken and without posterior ligament complex injury and spinal cord nerve injury between June 2013 and December 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. According to the different operative approaches, the patients were divided into two groups: group A (36 cases received PKP via bilateral pedicle puncture) and group B (32 cases received PKP via unilateral pedicle paracentesis). There was no significant difference between the two groups in gender, age, fracture vertebra distribution, time from injury to operation, preoperative pain visual analogue scale (VAS) score, Oswestry disability index (ODI), and height of injured vertebra ( P >0.05). The operation time, intraoperative fluoroscopy times, and bone cement volume were recorded and compared between the two groups. The VAS score and ODI score were used to evaluate the effectiveness before operation, at 1 day and 6 months after operation; the height of injured vertebra was measured on the lateral X-ray film, and the recovery height of injured vertebra at 1 day after operation and the loss height of injured vertebra at 6 months after operation were calculated; the intraoperative and postoperative complications of the two groups were recorded., Results: The operation time, intraoperative fluoroscopy times, and bone cement volume of group B were significantly less than those of group A ( P <0.05). All patients were followed up 10-35 months, with an average of 18 months. During the operation, there were 2 cases (5.56%) of cement leakage in group A and 9 cases (28.13%) in group B, showing significant difference ( χ 2 =4.808, P =0.028). There was no adverse reactions of bone cement, iatrogenic spinal cord injury, infection of puncture port, or other complications in the two groups. During the follow-up period, there were 3 cases (8.3%) of adjacent vertebral fractures in group A and 2 cases (6.3%) in group B, showing no significant difference between the two groups ( χ 2 =0.027, P =0.869). The height of injured vertebra of the two groups at 1 day and 6 months after operation were significantly improved when compared with preoperative ones ( P <0.05). There was no significant difference in the height of injured vertebrae and the recovery height of injured vertebra at 1 day after operation between the two groups ( P >0.05). However, at 6 months after operation, the height of injured vertebra in group B was significantly lower than that in group A ( P <0.05), and the loss height of injured vertebra in group B was significantly higher than that in group A ( P <0.05). The VAS score and ODI score at 1 day and 6 months after operation were significantly improved when compared with preoperative ones in both groups ( P <0.05), but there was no significant difference between the two groups ( P >0.05)., Conclusion: Both bipedicular and unipedicular PKP can obtain satisfactory effectiveness for the treatment of OVCF with posterior wall broken, but the former may have advantages of lower cement leakage rate and less height loss.

Objective: To investigate the effectiveness and safety of clinical pharmacists-directed vancomycin dosing and therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM), and to promote the individualized medication of vancomycin., Methods: Information of hospitalized patients treated by vancomycin admitted to Ruijin Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine from January 2011 to October 2017 was collected retrospectively during study period, the patients were divided into pharmacists intervention and non-pharmacists intervention groups according to pharmacist-directed vancomycin dosing guideline or not. The individualized dosing regimen of vancomycin for the patients in pharmacists intervention group was guided by clinical pharmacists, this guideline was that pharmacists offered the TDM guidance, made the individualized dosage regimen of vancomycin, etc., which based on the patients' pathophysiology, condition, and the adjustments of increased dose or 24-hour continuous infusion vancomycin were made for patients if the steady-state trough concentrations fell below the target level. Vancomycin dosage was made for patients in the non-pharmacists intervention group by physicians only based on vancomycin instructions or clinical experience. The vancomycin dosing, TDM, microorganism culture, renal function, 30-day mortality rate, and length of hospital stay were recorded. The appropriateness of TDM for vancomycin was defined as a blood collection within 1 hour of the next scheduled dose after steady state achieved. The rationality of the initial dosing regimen was determined based on the vancomycin application guidelines issued by Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) in 2009., Results: A total of 258 patients were enrolled, and there were 158 patients in the non-pharmacists intervention group and 100 in pharmacists intervention group. The appropriateness of TDM for vancomycin in pharmacists intervention group was significantly improved as compared with that in non-pharmacists intervention group [87.0% (87/100) vs. 69.6% (110/158), P < 0.01], the percentage of first trough serum concentrations drawn on day 3 after steady state achieved was significantly increased [51.0% (51/100) vs. 37.3% (53/142), P < 0.05]. Compared with the non-pharmacists intervention group, the percentages of patients who received appropriate initial dosing and attained the initial target therapeutic range in pharmacists intervention group were significantly increased [87.4% (76/87) vs. 68.2% (75/110), 51.7% (45/87) vs. 30.9% (34/110), both P < 0.01], the percentage of patients whose vancomycin dosing regimen was adjusted based on TDM results was also significantly increased [54.0% (47/87) vs. 15.5% (17/110), P < 0.01], the rate of vancomycin serum concentrations reaching the standard was increased [70.1% (61/87) vs. 32.7% (36/110), P < 0.01], and a lower number of patients in sub- or supra-therapeutic range was observed in pharmacists intervention group [27.6% (24/87) vs. 46.4% (51/110), 2.3% (2/87) vs. 20.9% (23/110), both P < 0.01]. In addition, a lower incidence of vancomycin-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) was observed in pharmacists intervention group as compared with that in non-pharmacists intervention group [0 (0/87) vs. 6.4% (7/110), P < 0.01]. No significant difference was observed in the microorganism culture, 30-day mortality rate or length of hospital stay between the two groups. Among the 87 patients in pharmacists intervention group, the vancomycin dosing was adjusted for 42 patients who did not attain the target therapeutic range, increasing the dose of vancomycin was made for 22 patients, 24-hour continuous infusion was made for 20 patients. Compared with the only increasing vancomycin dose group, vancomycin continuous infusion for 24 hours could significantly increase the serum trough concentration (mg/L: 18.0±6.7 vs. 12.5±5.8, P < 0.05), and reduce daily dosage (mg/kg: 27.1±7.1 vs. 36.6±9.2, P < 0.01)., Conclusions: The implementation of a pharmacist-directed vancomycin dosing guideline based on TDM optimized vancomycin dosing regimen, improved the accuracy and timeliness of TDM for vancomycin, achieved a higher percentage of levels within the therapeutic range, and a lower incidence of vancomycin-induced AKI.

Objective: To investigate the effect of functional exercises at different time and different immobilization positions on the functional recovery of elbow joint with type C distal humeral fractures., Methods: A total of 120 patients with type C distal humeral fractures admitted to the hospital between June 2013 and July 2015 were included in the study. They were randomly allocated to 3 groups, 40 patients in each group. Group A: functional exercises began immediately after the operation; Group B: the affected elbow was fixed at 90° flexion for 1 week and then began functional exercises after 1 week of immobilization; Group C: the affected elbow was fixed at 30° extension for 1 week and then began functional exercises after 1 week of immobilization. There was no significant difference in gender, age, fracture pattern, fracture side, injury time, and surgical approach between groups ( P >0.05)., Results: In groups A and B, 1 case had incision redness and swelling respectively, and the other incisions healed by first intention. Five patients occurred myositis ossificans in group A, 4 cases in group B, and 5 cases in group C. The incidence of complications in groups A, B, and C was 15.0% (6/40), 12.5% (5/40), and 12.5% (5/40), respectively. There was no significant difference between groups ( χ 2 =0.144, P =0.930). All patients were followed up 6-25 months, with an average of 9.8 months. At 2 weeks after operation, the Mayo elbow joint function score of group A was significantly higher than those of groups B and C ( P <0.05), and the visual analogue scale (VAS) of group A was significantly lower than those of groups B and C ( P <0.05). There was no significant difference between groups B and C ( P >0.05). At 6 months after operation, there was no significant difference in Mayo elbow joint function score and VAS score between groups ( P >0.05). At 2 weeks and 6 months after operation, the flexion and extension activities of elbow joint in groups A and C were better than that in group B ( P <0.05), and there was no significant difference between groups A and C ( P >0.05). There was no significant difference in forearm rotation between groups ( P >0.05). All fractures of 3 groups achieved clinical healing, and there was no significant difference in healing time between groups ( P >0.05)., Conclusion: Early functional exercises can relieve pain and obtain better elbow flexion and extesion activities after operation. The elbow joint fixed at 30° extension is better than at 90° flexion in elbow flexion and extension activitis.

Objective: To understand the allelotype characteristics of the merozoite surface protein 1 (MSP1) in imported Plasmodium falciparum., Methods: Blood samples were collected from P. falciparum-infected patients returning from African malaria endemic areas. Nested PCR was used to amplify gene fragments of MSP1 coding for block 2 and block 3 motifs of MSP1 of P. falciparum by using the MSP1-specific primers. Then the allelotype of MSPI was analyzed., Results: The MSP1 allelotype was detected in 117 of 135 blood samples, with a detection rate of 86.7%. In the 117 cases with successful PCR amplification, the detection rates for MAD20, K1, RO33, MAD20+K1, MAD20+RO33, K1+RO33 and MAD20+K1+R033 were 6.0%(7/117), 36.8%(43/117), 20.5%(24/117), 6.8% (8/117), 3.4% (4/117), 17.1% (20/117) and 9.4% (11/117), respectively, wherein the mixed infection accounted for 36.8%(43/135). The mean multiplicity of infection(MOI) of MSP1 allelotype was 1.46. There was no significant difference in the proportion of patients with major severity of illness among the MAD20, K1 and RO33 genotypes. The proportions of patients with major severity of illness were 25.7%(19/74) and 32.6%(14/43) in 74 cases of singular infection and 43 cases of mixed infection, respectively. The two infection types of patients had 241 ± 176 days and 285 ± 216 days of stay abroad, with no significant difference between them., Conclusion: The three genotypes of MSP1 and their four types of combination exist in imported cases of P. falciparum malaria from Africa. K1 and RO33 are the dominant genotves.

Objective: To identify ticks and determine the Borrelia (B.) burgdorferi genotype from four counties of northern Xinjiang., Methods: Sheep ticks were collected from 6 surveillance sites in four counties including Shihezi, Shawan,Yining and Chabuchaer. All ticks were initially screened out based on morphological methods and 16S rRNA sequence analysis. B. burgdorferi was detected and cultivated with BSK-H medium. Combined with nested PCR, silver nitrate staining was employed to detect B. burgdorferi. Genotype of isolated B. burgdorferi was determined by Sequencing and phylogenic analysis based on 11 conference sequences., Results: Hyalomma asiaticum asiaticum, Haemaphysalis punctata, Dermacentor marginatus and Rhipicephalus turanicus were identified from more than 900 ticks. Out of 24 tubes from 102 representative tick specimens, 16 tube were positive for B. burgdorfer. Sequencing of 5S-23S rRNA intergenic spacer showed 98.6%-99.5% identities to B. burgdorferi Sensu Stricto(B31). Results from the analysis of OspC genotype showed consistent with that of 5S-23S rRNA intergenic spacer., Conclusions: 16 strains of B. burgdorferi Sensu Stricto were isolated in four counties, from northern Xinjiang. Additionally, B. burgdorferi Sensu Stricto was isolated from Rhipicephalus turanicus first time in China.

Objective: To identify the incidence of the K76T mutation in Pfcrt genes of imported Plasmodium falciparum., Methods: The blood samples were collected from returnees infected with P. falciparum in endemic areas of Southeast Asia and Africa from 2008 to 2012. According to the Pfcrt gene sequence of P. falciparum, nested PCR primers were designed. Nested PCR-RFLP was applied with falciparum DNA in the blood samples as templates., Results: Among 92 blood samples of P. falciparum, the mutant Pfcrt alleles were found in 50 samples (54.3%), and the wild type Pfcrt alleles were found in 42 samples (45.7%). There were 33 samples (47.1%) with mutant Pfcrt alleles and 37 samples (52.9%) with wild type, respectively, from Africa. There were 17 samples (77.3%) with mutant Pfcrt alleles and 5 samples (22.7%) with wild type, respectively, from Southeast Asia. There was a significant difference between the Africa group and the Southeast Asia group (Chi(2) = 6.12, P < 0.05)., Conclusion: The incidence of Pfcrt gene mutation is different among P. falciparum isolates from different regions. Therefore, Pfcrt K76T has an application value in the surveillance of the imported falciparum chloroquine-resistance.

Objective: To present the experience of nasal reconstruction with forehead flap., Method: nasal reconstruction with forehead flap were applied in eight nasal carcinoma cases after operation and 5 nasal trauma cases with defects., Result: These forehead flaps were alive in all patients, all incision healed in I stage, no post operative complications were found. The shapes of nose were satisfactory, there were no recurrence of tumor during 1 to 17 year follow up., Conclusion: The method can be clinically applied for its simple procedure, reliable flap's blood supply, high survival rate and satisfied result.

Objective: To develop a new method for the determination of Jujubaside A in Semen Ziziphi Spinosae., Method: A RP-HPLC method was set up, using Hypersil-18 column, acetonitrile: water(30:70) as mobile phase with a flow rate of 0.8 ml.min-1., Result: The calibration curve was linear in the range of 0.076-0.456 mg. The average recovery was 93.5%., Conclusion: The method is appropriate for the determination of Jujubaside A.

The authors have carried out the immunoassay on 68 patients with laryngeal carcinoma in order to investigate the relationship between the occurrence and development of the tumour and the body immune state by using the methods of R1D, APAAP and LDH. The results showed that, in comparison with the normal group, CD3+, CD4+ cell and NK cell activity were much lower (P < 0.01), CD8+ cell slightly increased (P > 0.05). IgG, IgA and IgM were also lower (P < 0.05). It indicates that the lower level of cellular immunity, the descent of the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ and the condition which suppresses the body immune system are the interior factors which make the laryngeal carcinoma happening and developing easily. With the development of tumor, the increase of various suppressor factors and the immune system suppressed further the tumor can spread and shift much more easily.

Prognosis Decision System (PDS) is a program that analyzes the prognosis of AMI basing on the presented prognostic risk-factors after the onset of symptoms in patients with AMIs. The model is represented by using both pattern recognition and logical judgement. The forecast exact rate of PDS reached 90% by analysis of 100 retrospective cases and 125 prospective cases. It is useful in reduction of early case fatality rate and prevention of sudden death during convalescence.
