Objective: To explore the effect of high- frequency abdominal deep vibration therapy in the rehabilitation of neurogenic bowel dysfunction(NBD)in patients with cervical and thoracic spinal cord injury. Method: A total of 59 hospitalized patients with NBD after cervical and thoracic spinal cord injury were selected and divided into control group(n=30)and the intervention group(n=29)by a randomized controlled trial design. The control group received the standard NBD rehabilitation nursing combined with manual abdominal massage therapy, while the intervention group received standard care supplemented with high-frequency abdominal deep vibration therapy. The study period was 4 weeks. The outcomes were assessed using the International Spinal Cord Injury Bowel Function Date Set (version 2.0), Bristol stool classification, quality of life brief questionnaire (QOL-BRE) and bowel-related complications (medication dependence, abdominal pain/bloating, fecal incontinence, and incomplete bowel obstruction) before and after the intervention. Result: After intervention, the international spinal cord injury bowel function scores in the intervention group were better than that of the control group(P<0.01). The proportion of patients achieving ideal stool consistency (Type IV, banana- shaped stool) was higher in the intervention group(62% ) compared to the control group (26.7% ) (P<0.01). The quality of life score of the intervention group was significantly higher than that of the control group after intervention(P<0.05); The bowel-related complications (medication dependence 6%, abdominal pain/ bloating 0%, fecal leakage 0%, intestinal obstruction 0%) in the intervention group were lower than those in the control group(medication dependence 50%, abdominal pain/bloating 30%, fecal leakage 27%, intestinal obstruction 17%)(P<0.05). Conclusion: High-frequency abdominal deep vibration therapy is effective in promoting the recovery of bowel function, reducing medication dependence, lowering the incidence of bowel-related complications, and improving quality of life in patients with NBD after cervical and thoracic spinal cord injury. Objective: To observe the effects of Yimufutu acupuncture therapy combined with abdominal massage on gastrointestinal hormones and intestinal microflora in patients with functional dyspepsia (FD) of liver depression and spleen deficiency type. Methods: 120 FD patients with liver depression and spleen deficiency type admitted to Jiangmen Maternal and Child Health Hospital from August 2020 to December 2022 were divided into control group (60 cases, combine with abdominal massage on the basis of western medicine treatment) and observation group (60 cases, treated with Yimufutu acupuncture therapy on the basis of control group) according to the random number table method. The curative effect, traditional chinese medicine syndrome score, gastrointestinal hormones and intestinal microflora were compared between two groups. Results: Compared with control group, the total clinical effective rate in observation group was higher (P＜0.05). Compared with control group, 2 courses after treatment, the main symptoms, secondary symptoms and total scores in observation group were lower (P＜0.05). 2 courses after treatment, somatostatin and gastrin in observation group were lower than those in control group, and motilin was higher than that in control group (P＜0.05). 2 courses after treatment, the levels of bifidobacterium and lactobacillus in observation group were higher than those in control group, and the levels of yeast,enterobacter and enterococcus were lower than those in control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion: Yimufutu acupuncture therapy combined with abdominal massage in the treatment of FD patients with liver depression and spleen deficiency type, which can regulate gastrointestinal hormones and intestinal microbiota, and improve clinical symptoms. Objective To investigate the mechanism of abdominal massage for treating chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Methods Thirty clean-grade female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into the normal control, model control, and abdominal massage groups (n = 10 rats per group). The CFS rat model was established through cold water swimming combined with the chronic restraint method in the model control and abdominal massage groups. The rats in the abdominal massage group were treated with the core techniques of Jingu zang-fu massage, namely layer press " Guanyuan" (CV4) for 8 min and Tuanmo " Zhongwan" (CV12) for 12 min as the primary intervention techniques, once a day for 14 consecutive days. The rats in the two control groups did not receive intervention; however, they were bound to the experimental bench when the experimental group was massaged. After the intervention, the indexes of the main organs of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and hippocampal cell apoptosis in each group were measured. The morphology of hippocampal cells in each group was observed using Nissl staining of hippocampal tissue and transmission electron microscopy of hippocampal neurons. Results The index of each organ in the model control group was upregulated (P<0.01) compared to that of the normal control group. In contrast, the index of each organ in the abdominal massage group was downregulated (P<0.01) compared with that of the model control group. Compared to the normal control group, the index of each organ in the abdominal massage group was upregulated; however, the difference was not significant. Compared to the normal control group, the cell nuclei in the model control group were significantly consolidated, the nuclear membrane structure was ruptured, and the margins were irregular. Most of the cell morphology in the abdominal massage group was normal compared with that of the model control group, and a small number of nuclear membrane structures were unclear. Compared to the normal control group, the hippocampal neuronal cell in the other two groups was significantly damaged, and the hippocampal neuronal cell in the abdominal massage group was in good condition compared to the model control group. The degree of neuronal apoptosis in the model control group was significantly higher than that in the normal control group (P<0.01). The degree of neuronal apoptosis in the abdominal massage group decreased compared to that of the model control group (P <0.01), which was slightly higher than that in the normal control group but not significant. Conclusion Cold water swimming combined with chronic restraint can simulate CFS in rats, and abdominal massage can reduce the organ index of the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, and adrenal gland, increase hippocampal cell activity, reduce hippocampal tissue damage, inhibit hippocampal cell apoptosis, and maintain the normal physiological function of hippocampal neurons. This paper analyzed the potential causes of post-stroke constipation, reviewed studies on abdominal massage combined with acupoint finger pressure therapy in the treatment of post-stroke constipation, and provided reference for clinical practice of post-stroke nursing. Objective To observe the effect of abdominal massage combined with moxibustion in the treatment of Qi-deficiency type chronic functional constipation in elderly people. Methods Totally 100 elderly patients with chronic functional constipation of Qi-deficiency type were randomly divvied into the control group and observation group, with 50 cases in each group. The control group received routine treatment and abdominal massage, and the observation group received abdominal massage combined with moxibustion. The defecation condtion, Tradition Chinese Medicine syndrome score and clinical curative effect were compared between two groups. Results The Patient Assessment of Constipation Symptoms(PAC-SYM) score was decreased in both two groups after intervention (P＜0. 05), and PAC-SYM score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0. 05). The Tradition Chinese Medicine syndrome score was decreased in both two groups after intervention (P＜0. 05), and Tradition Chinese Medicine syndrome score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0. 05). The total effective rate was 94. 00%(47/50) in the observaiton group, which was higher than 76. 00%(38/50) in the control group (P＜0. 05). Conclusion The abdominal massage combined with moxibustion is effective to relieve the clinical symptoms of Qi-deficiency type chronic functional constipation in elderly people. (目的 观察腹部推拿联合艾灸治疗气虚型老年慢性功能性便秘的效果。方法 选取2022年4月—2023年12月在医院住院治疗的气虚型老年慢性功能性便秘患者100例为研究对象, 采用随机数字表法分为对照组和观察组, 各50例。对照组给予常规治疗和腹部推拿, 观察组在对照组基础上联合艾灸治疗。治疗7 d后比较两组患者排便情况、中医证候积分及临床疗效。结果 治疗后两组便秘患者症状自评量表(PAC-SYM)评分均较治疗前降低(P＜0. 05), 且观察组治疗后评分低于对照组(P＜0. 05)。治疗后两组排便无力、腹中隐痛、食欲不振、乏力懒言等中医证候积分均较治疗前降低(P＜0. 05), 且观察组治疗后评分低于对照组(P＜0. 05)。观察组总有效率为94. 00%(47/50), 高于对照组的76. 00%(38/50), 差异有统计学意义(P＜0. 05)。结论 腹部推拿联合艾灸治疗可有效缓解气虚型老年慢性功能性便秘患者的临床症状。)

Objective To investigate the effect of abdominal massage on relieving constipation in elderly patients with diabetes, and summarize comprehensive nursing measures during the treatment. Methods Totally 80 elderly diabetic patients with constipation were randomly divided into the control group and observation group, with 40 cases in each group. All patients were given glucose-lowering Therapy and routine care, and Traditional Chinese Medicine abdominal massage was carried in the observation group. The constipation index, Patient Assessment of Constipation Quality of Life scale(PAC-QoL) and patient satisfaction were measured and compared between two groups. Results The constipation index score decreased in both two group after intervention, and constipation index score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0. 01). The PAC-QoL score decreased in both two group after intervention, and PAC-QoL score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0. 01). The satisfaction rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P＜0. 05). Conclusion Based on the comprehensive nursing interventions, the abdominal massage is effective to relieve constipation symptoms and improve the quality of life in elderly patients with diabetes. Background: Neurogenic bowel dysfunction is a common comorbidity in spinal cord injury patients that may result in fecal incontinence. Abdominal massage is one intestinal training method that is used to improve bowel movement and defecation., Purpose: To review the effectiveness of abdominal massage on neurogenic bowel dysfunction in patients with spinal cord injury., Methods: A systematic review of Chinese and English-language articles was performed in six databases using the following key words: spinal cord injury, abdominal massage, neurogenic bowel dysfunction, and bowel training. Relevant studies published prior to June 2016 that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected. The Downs and Black scale was used to appraise the quality of each of the included studies. Eight studies were included in the final analysis., Results: Four of these studies indicated that abdominal massage significantly improved bowel functions and the regularity and frequency of bowel movements. Although two of the studies indicated that abdominal massage significantly reduced the use of glycerin and laxatives, the remaining six did not. The eight studies earned respective quality scores ranging between 13 and 25., Conclusions / Implications for Practice: The current literature lacks consensus on the efficacy of abdominal massage in terms of improving bowel dysfunction in patients with spinal cord injuries. Future studies should use more stringent experimental designs such as randomized controlled studies to explore the correlations among massage time and frequency and bowel function improvements in order to provide guidelines for clinical care applications.
