Nocturia is one of the common clinical symptoms of lower urinary tract, with a high incidence, which not only seriously affects patients’ sleep quality and quality of life, but also increases risk of complications due to frequent night awakenings. This article reported a patient with nocturia treated by auricular acupoint sticking and pressing therapy. Experience of auricular acupoint selection by syndrome differentiation, operation method and basic nursing measures were summarized. auricular acupoint sticking and pressing therapy is an easy-to-operate, safe and effective therapy for nocturia. Objective To improve the diagnosis and treatment level of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)and nocturia by promote the related standards in community doctors. Methods Through academic lectures, special training, on-site guidance, further education, teaching rounds, popular science publicity and other ways were performed to improve community doctors′attentions and levels of diagnosis and treatment of BPH and nocturia, and master screening of nocturia in patients with BPH and preventive measures. Results Twelve part-time doctors of urological surgery in four community healthcare centers were specifically trained and passed the project examination, mastering the diagnosis and treatment of BPH and nocturia, could perform independent diagnosis and treatment. 80% of medical staffs in the four community healthcare centers acquire the relevant knowledge. The promotion program has benefited community patients with BPH and nocturia. Conclusion The awareness of community doctors on the standards of diagnosis and treatment of BPH and nocturia, the medical services, and the allocation of social medical resources could be improved and more reasonable, by the implementation of this promotion project, which might be worthy of further promotion.
