This study used bibliometrics to analyze the characteristics of funded papers in the social sciences in Taiwan from 2015 to 2019, including the number of funded papers, funded paper ratio, document types, fields, type of publishing organizations, journal impact, and paper citation impact. The results indicate that the number of funded papers and the funded paper ratio of SSCI papers from Taiwan have both increased. In addition to articles and reviews, conference papers are a major type of funded paper for local SSCI papers. In terms of fields, the nontraditional social sciences, such as environmental sciences, psychiatry, and public/environmental & occupational health, have a particularly high funded paper ratio. However, the number of funded papers and funded paper ratio is the highest in the field of education & educational research. The fields of economics, management, and business have a large number of funded papers but a low funded paper ratio. Universities are the main funded institutions, but hospitals have the highest funded paper ratio. Funded papers tend to have higher paper citation impacts. The Antarctic Marine Protection Area (AMPA) has always been a global benchmark in the field of High Sea's protection. It is committed to maintain the ecological health of the Southern Ocean through the implementation of the Marine Protection Areas (MPAs) proposals and the promotion of related work. However, due to the dynamic nature of the marine environment and the time lag of the protection effect, the actual effect and promotion status of marine reserves, which have been widely applied and planned in Antarctica, are still difficult to be quantified in the context of the lack of long-term monitoring data and a complete evaluation system. In this paper, the international research status on AMP As issues in recent years was integrated and explored. Based on open access and published reports and data from the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR), the game between science and policy in the process of advancing AMP As issues was analyzed and presented from multiple perspectives, such as the planning efficiency, scientific basis, the demand for MPA in the planned area, the monitoring and evaluation of the protected areas, the consideration of the rational utilization of marine living resources and the management particularity of Antarctic resource governance issues. The results show that, although the Antarctic ocean protection is unmatched in the field of international waters protection, the results of longitudinal comparison indicate the development is still in its infancy, the difficulties, such as the slow process of planning, insufficient scientific evidence, difficult coordination of the interests between countries, weak mechanism of research and monitoring, controversial protection requirement and effects, needs to be overcome. It is suggested that future work should focus on the linkage between scientific data and marine governance policies, and the improvement of research and monitoring plans, so as to meet the diverse demands of different agents, to explore efficient and scientific management strategies and resource regulation modes. A series of debates about health, ecology, and livestock production have been erupted in Taiwanese society since August 2020, following a decision by Taiwan's government to allow the importation of pork containing ractopamine from the United States. It becomes necessary to understand how the academic research results on ractopamine have been quoted and interpreted as the basis for discussing the debates. In this systematic review of literature along with bibliometrics, we designed a coding scheme for judging the positive and negative effects of ractopamine on health and ecology reported in the academic papers. A total of 511 articles were found in the Scopus between 2000 and 2020. According to the literature review, human health and ecological concerns are not the focus of mainstream academia. The analyses reveal that the positions of academic communities are obviously divided and lack consensus on the health and ecological stance of ractopamine. The mutual use of systematic literature review and bibliometrics can effectively explore the research characteristics of a huge amount of academic literature with limited time and research manpower, create a common knowledge base for stakeholders, and practice low-cost democratic participation in science and technology issues. This research suggests that for any controversial and risk-related technology policies, or in the early stages of policy discussion, a large-scale academic literature review should be conducted by a third-party organization in order to achieve transparent governance. The hyporheic zone is a region where surface and subsurface water mix in rivers. It is an important area for the exchange of mass and energy and an essential habitat for aquatic organisms. However, the deposition of colloidal particles in the hyporheic zone can modify the hydrodynamics and ecological environment of the river system. Through recirculating flume experiments and numerical simulations, this paper aims to investigate the transport of colloidal particles between stream and streambed, and clarify the pattern of colloidal particles′ deposition in the hyporheic zone as well as the influence of different factors over particles′ deposition. The results show that the colloidal particles in the overlying water will gradually retain in the streambed and accumulate in the shallow layer. The horizontal distribution of the retained particles tends to be higher on the stoss- side and lower on the lee- side. Hyporheic exchange, settlement of particles and retention of streambed are 3 most important factors in the deposition of colloids in the hyporheic zone. This paper can be helpful for understanding ecological and environmental functions of colloidal particles in hyporheic zone, and it can provide theoretical support for environmental and ecological restoration and health management of rivers. BACKGROUND: Carbofuran and 3-hydroxy carbofuran are a pair of typical pesticide precursors and their metabolites. Due to their high water solubility and high toxicity, they can migrate long distances through surface water or groundwater, causing harm to human health and environmental safety. OBJECTIVES: In the past, liquid-phase extraction or solid-phase extraction was usually used to extract carbofuran and 3-hydroxy carbofuran in samples, but these methods are cumbersome and time-consuming, which are not conducive to the detection of multiple samples in indoor simulation experiments. In order to realize the rapid quantification of carbofuran and 3-hydroxy carbofuran in groundwater, this paper established a small-volume liquid-liquid extraction pretreatment method for extraction, and used gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for detection The factors affecting the extraction efficiency of carbofuran and 3-hydroxy carbofuran were studied. Through experiments, the recovery rates of carbofuran and 3-hydroxy carbofuran under different extractants, different pH and different ionic strength conditions were compared, and the pretreatment conditions were optimized. The results show that the recovery rate of carbofuran and 3-hydroxy carbofuran is the highest when the dichloromethane is selected as the extractant and the dosage is 1mL, the pH of the water sample is adjusted to 5, and the sodium chloride dosage is 40g/L.~98.6%, 55.0%~66.3%. The performance evaluation results show that the method precision and method accuracy meet the test requirements (relative standard deviation <10%, n=5), and the detection limits of carbofuran and 3-hydroxy carbofuran are 15.3μg/L, 10.2μg/L. This method is easy to operate, fast and consumes less solvent. Compared with the traditional liquid-liquid extraction method, this method takes about 1/8 of the former, and consumes about 2 orders of magnitude less solvent than the former, which can meet the needs of indoor simulation experiments.
