In this study, sodium silicate with varying modulus was synthesized. The influence of sodium silicate modulus on the rheology of kaolin slurry was investigated. Based on the rheological analysis, it has been determined that the kaolin slurry exhibits the lowest shear viscosity when the sodium silicate modulus is 2.5 and the addition amount is 0.33% (mass fraction). Four different models are used to fit the flow curves, and it is found that the Herschel-Bulkley model could obtain the greatest correlation. In addition, the fitting degree is primarily influenced by the shear stress in the low shear rate region, which is mainly affected by the thixotropy of slurry. Then, the thixotropy of slurry with different sodium silicate modulus is characterized by shear hysteresis ring area, which verifies the view above. Finally, the molecular structure of sodium silicate with different modulus was analyzed using infrared spectroscopy. The results indicate the presence of a weak vibration at 589.5 cm-1 in the vibrational spectrum of sodium silicate with a modulus of 2.5, suggesting the presence of distorted 6-membered rings. The annular silicates interact with kaolin particles through Coulombic force, leading to the formation of large aggregates. This interaction prevents the connection between the edges and faces, disrupts the thixotropic structure, and consequently reduces viscosity. This study is helpful to understand the deep reason of the influence of sodium silicate modulus on the mechanism of deflocculation, and provide scientific basis for optimizing the formulation and processing of ceramic slurry. Ultrathin electrolytic copper foil with a thickness of 5 μm was prepared by electrodeposition using a pilot test machine in an acid copper sulfate electrolyte containing several kinds of organic compounds i.e. the mixture of polyether compound and imine compound (mass ratio of 1:1), hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC), collagen, and sodium N,N-dimethyl-dithiocarbamylpropylsulfonate (DPS) as additives. The effect of the dosage of the mixture of polyether compound and imine compound on the mechanical properties and microstructure of copper foil was studied. The results showed that the mixture of polyether compound and imine compound has the functions of grain refinement and surface leveling. The copper foil obtained with 130 mL/min of the mixture of polyether compound and imine compound featured a tensile strength of 581.08 MPa and a modulus (defined as the tensile strength of copper foil when its elongation is 0.5%) of 340.07 MPa, meeting the requirement of high tensile strength for ultrathin lithium-battery copper foil. The effects of Mooney viscosity of raw rubbers (Mv) of SBR 1500 and SBR 1586 on the properties of SBR 1500 and SBR 1586, such as Mooney viscosity of rubber compounds (Mb), modulus at 300% 25 min (M25), modulus at 300% 35 min (M35), modulus at 300% 50 min (M50), tensile strength (Ts) and elongation at break (Eb) of vulcanizates were investigated. The results showed that with the increase of Mv, Mb, M25, M35, M50, Ts and Eb of SBR 1500 and SBR1586 all increased linearly. When Mv increased by 1 unit, Mb, M25, M35, M50, Ts and Eb of SBR 1500 increased by 1.17, 0.11 MPa, 0.27 MPa, 0.56 MPa, 0.16 MPa and 2.8% respectively, and Mb, M25, M35, M50, Ts and Eb of SBR 1586 increased by 1.00, 0.08 MPa, 0.10 MPa, 0.57 MPa, 0.20 MPa and 3.8%. When the increase ranges of Mv of SBR 1500 and SBR 1586 were the same, the growth rates of Mb, M25 and M35 of SBR 1500 were higher than those of SBR 1586, and the growth rate of M50 of SBR 1500 was equal to that of SBR 1586, while Ts and Eb of of SBR 1500 were lower than those of SBR 1586.

This paper reported an investigation on the effect of sample thickness on tensile properties of polyethylene (PE). Through the analysis of tensile tests of PE samples with different thickness, the thickness could generate a great influence on the strength, strain and tensile modulus of PE. However, there was no effect on the yield absorption energy per unit area. In the current design of plastic products, there have been hidden dangers with the tensile properties of PE materials and the thickness of products as two independent parameters. Cheddar cheese,rennet casein,camellia seed oil were used as the main raw materials,emulsified salt,skimmed milk powder,etc.as auxiliary materials to develop spread processed cheese.A single factor method was used to add different amounts of camellia seed oil to prepare the spread processed cheese.The storage modulus (G′) and loss modulus (G″) of spread processed cheese under different oscillation frequencies were studied,The difference of the critical point temperature (melting temperature) of viscoelastic change of processed cheese with different amount of camellia seed oil was observed.The results showed that G'and G'' of the spread processed cheese decreased with the increase of camellia seed oil,and the temperature at which the products reached the critical point of viscoelastic change also decreased.The sample with the added amount of camellia seed oil below 50% was more stable.

In this paper novel measuring methods for profile deviation are proposed based on machine vision. After the tangent point of the basic circle and the normal line of the tooth profile through a sampled point are obtained， angles of vectors determining by the tangent point and the discrete points of the corresponding theoretical involute are obtained. Then the intersection point between the normal line of the tooth profile through a sampled point and the theoretical involute is obtained by using the operations of "comparison" and "XOR". Finally profile deviations are measured in the normal direction of the profile involute， which makes the tested results be consistent with its definitions. In the experiment， the obtained profile deviation is 6.944 3 μm， which demonstrates the proposed method of profile deviations test based on machine vision can meets the need of precision in engineering practice.

BACKGROUND: Post and core crowns are used in the clinic under some conditions, including root fractures, broken posts, and post-core detachment caused by large-scale dental caries and defects. Dentists mainly increase the retentive force by selecting a bonding material with stronger adhesion or by making a retentive groove parallel to the long axis on the surface of the core, but the effect is not obvious. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of different types of retentive grooves and two different adhesives on the retentive force after the post-core crown restoration. METHODS: Sixty cobalt-chromium alloy metal crowns and post-core modules simulating the morphology of mandibular premolars were prepared. The axial cohesion angle of the cores was 8°. These crowns and post-core modules were randomly divided into six groups with 10 crowns/pieces per group. In the smooth group, there was no auxiliary retentive groove on the post-core surface. In the horizontal and vertical groups, there were retentive grooves with equal spacing parallel to(horizontal group) or perpendicular to(vertical group) the long axis of the post and core. In the oblique group, the retentive grooves were placed with an oblique angle of 45° with the long axis of the post-core. In the mesh group, the retentive grooves were at an oblique angle of 45° with the long axis of the post and core and crossed. In the point group, the retentive grooves were dot-shaped. In all six groups, glass ionomer cement and self-curing resin adhesive were used to bond post-and-core with crown. The retentive force in each group was tested by the tensile test, and the displacement change of three-dimensional finite element model during the same time was analyzed by the finite element analysis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) Regardless of whether it was bonded with glass ionomer cement or self-curing resin adhesive, the retentive force was highest in the mesh group and lowest in the point group. There was no interaction between adhesives and retentive grooves used to increase retentive force(F=0.26, P=0.91). The effect of different adhesives on retentive force was not significant(F=1.04, P=0.31). The effect of different auxiliary retentive grooves on retentive force was significant(F=14.74, P < 0.05). (2) When the same force was applied at the same time, the displacement of three-dimensional finite element model was smallest in the mesh group. (3) These results suggest that preparation of retentive grooves on the post-core surface can enhance the retentive force. Mesh-shaped retentive grooves provide the greatest retentive force. The circular arc tooth trace（CATT） cylindrical gear is a new type of gear transmission,which can solve the problem existing in the traditional gears. The dynamic characteristics of the CATT gears are studied with different tool radius and modulus based on the finite element method to reveal its influence on its dynamic characteristics. The accurate 3D model of the CATT gear is established in the UG,and it is imported into the Workbench for the modal analysis of this new type of gear. The simulation results show that,in the case of other parameters are the same,the natural frequency of each order is gradually reducing,the influence of the tool radius on its dynamic characteristics is not significant.

The uniaxial compressive strength is usually used as a characterization index for quality evaluation of in-situ cemented backfill. The backfill strength couldn't be obtained quickly and accurately in the field engineering, hence, it is necessary to establish an in-situ cemented backfill strength prediction model for easily obtaining parameters. Based on internal links of physicomechanical parameters of in-situ cemented backfill, a relation between UCS and P-wave modulus was established from the perspective of dimensional balance. According to the test data of density, P-wave velocity and coring strength of in-situ cemented backfill of C and I mine, the strength prediction model based on P-wave modulus was obtained by the linear fitting method. The comparative analysis of the fitting effect of the strength prediction models indicated that the P-wave modulus was positively correlated with the coring strength, and the fitting effect was good, which proved the strength prediction model of the in-situ cemented backfill had high accuracy and strong practicability. Alkali activated slag (AAS) concretes were manufactured by using raw materials such as blast furnace slag from Northern Ireland of UK and water glass. Influence of alkali concentration and modulus of water glass on properties of the AAS concretes was studied. The results show that slump of AAS concretes increased with the increase of alkali concentration. Modulus had no significant influence on the slump of AAS concretes when it is relative small (4% and 6%). When alkali concentration was 8%,slump of AAS concretes increased with the increase of modulus. When 3d compressive strength of AAS concretes was considered,alkali concentration of water glass should not be lower than 6%,and the optimum modulus was around 1.0. While regarding to the compressive strength at 28d and afterwards,the optimum alkali concentration and modulus were 6% and 1.5, respectively. With the increase of curing age,compressive strength of AAS concretes increased in a logarithm mode. Their 28 d compressive strength could reach to 75% of their 91 d counterpart. From tooth profile wear and the demand of match manufacturing,a set of field mapping method is proposed,which does not depend drawings,while by virtue of toothed parameter with accumulated manufacturing experience that included addendum circle,tooth root circle,helix angle,variable coefficient measuring,modulus and pressure angle determining. At the same time,two examples of the successful application for measuring are cited. It concludes that modulus of wear gear can be accurately calculated based on the mean value of length difference for cross- tooth normal line,pressure angle can be determined based on the theory of alveolar bottom size,and the addendum helix angle can be estimated by the auxiliary template,thus the helix angle of helical gear is deduced. According to tooth root diameter,modulus,tooth number and helix angle,the modification coefficient is calculated finally. The mapping method can be used to guide the repair and pairing manufacture.

To obtain a larger embedding capacity and better imperceptible stego-images, we propose a new image steganography algorithm using wavelet contrast and modulus operation based on the visual characteristic that humans are not sensitive to rapid changing areas and dark areas. Firstly, the carrier image is divided into blocks with a fixed size and the wavelet contrast is calculated. Secondly, the embedding depth of each block is determined according to the wavelet contrast. Finally, secrete data is embedded into the image through modulus operation. Objective To investigate the influence of different neck shaft angle,torsion angle,and elastic modulus in the force characteristics of the cancellous bone of the femoral neck. Methods A sensor was implanted in the cancellous bone of the femoral neck. The bone under two loading rate and four kinds of load was tested using Instron testing machine. Results The larger the neck shaft angle was,the smaller the force of the cancellous bone of femoral neck bore. The larger the torsion angle was,the smaller the force it bore. The modulus of femur neck was related to the force that the cancellous bone of femoral neck bore. Rapid impact made the cancellous bone of the femoral neck stood larger force. When the force was beyond the elastic deformation of the cancellous bone,compressive load under slowspeed made cancellous bone stood greater stress. Conclusion Normal neck shaft angle and torsion angle are beneficial to the bearing capacity of the cancellous bone. When neck shaft angle gets larger,the cancellous bone stands less force,which is not beneficial to the stability of the cancellous bone of femoral neck. Especially in osteoporosis,the cancellous bone becomes sparse,which is vulnerable to the load and is prone to fracture. Larger torsion angle and less force standing by the cancellous bone can also cause the thinning of the cancellous bone and higher risk of fracture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Glubam is a type of natural bamboo-fiber reinforced polymer composites. This paper focuses on the fundamental mechanical properties of glubam, including its modulus, tensile, compressive, flexural and shear strengths. Because glubam is a new structural material, there is no code or guideline to follow. By referring to relevant timber codes, including GB 1927 ~ 1943--1991 ' Wood physical and mechanical properties test method' and ASTM D143-94 (2007) 'Standard test methods for small clear specimens of timber', considerable number of tests were conducted to obtain the values of modulus, tensile, compressive, bending and shear strengths. The relationships between tensile strength, and modulus and the main fiber orientation were studied. The tests also reveal that cold glued joints between glubam surfaces can weaken the compressive strength. Through the discussion on design methods of glubam structure, the recommended allowable stress values were given based on the Chinese allowable stress design method of timber and favorable design results were found compared with other types of glue laminated timber.
