This study used bibliometrics to analyze the characteristics of funded papers in the social sciences in Taiwan from 2015 to 2019, including the number of funded papers, funded paper ratio, document types, fields, type of publishing organizations, journal impact, and paper citation impact. The results indicate that the number of funded papers and the funded paper ratio of SSCI papers from Taiwan have both increased. In addition to articles and reviews, conference papers are a major type of funded paper for local SSCI papers. In terms of fields, the nontraditional social sciences, such as environmental sciences, psychiatry, and public/environmental & occupational health, have a particularly high funded paper ratio. However, the number of funded papers and funded paper ratio is the highest in the field of education & educational research. The fields of economics, management, and business have a large number of funded papers but a low funded paper ratio. Universities are the main funded institutions, but hospitals have the highest funded paper ratio. Funded papers tend to have higher paper citation impacts. Copper (Cu) is a crucial trace metal element in human body, which plays an important role in many life processes. Meanwhile, copper is strictly regulated in the human body and its homeostasis is closely related to the physiological state. The occurrences of many diseases are often accompanied by the copper imbalance. By monitoring the subtle variation in copper homeostasis, it can more accurately identify the factors that lead to abnormal changes in human physiology, especially the impact of environmental factors on the occurrence and development of diseases. In the past two decades, with the development of analytical instruments and improvement of analytical methods, non-traditional stable isotopic analysis has been widely applied in geochemistry and archaeology. Owing to its strong traceability, non-traditional stable isotopic analysis can also provide a new perspective to reveal the mechanisms of element homeostasis imbalance. Especially, stable copper isotopic analysis has a wide application prospect in environmental health research. Because of the virtues of wide application range and high analytical accuracy, multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS) has effectively promoted the process of copper isotopic analysis. In this paper, we reviewed the mechanisms of non-traditional stable isotope fractionation and analysis methods of Cu isotopes based on MC-ICP-MS, and the basic conception of mass dependent fractionation (MDF) and non-mass dependent fractionation (MIF) as well as the instrumental configuration of MC-ICP-MS. We also introduced the methods of copper isotopic analysis, and then summarized the main applications of copper isotopic analysis in environmental health research. We focused on two aspects, i.e., Cu isotopic analysis of population characteristics and research on disease indicators. In summarizing the relevant researches of Cu isotopic analysis of population characteristics, we reviewed the influence factors, such as age, gender, dietary habits, and other factors. Afterwards, the studies of copper isotopic analysis on some diseases, such as cancers, nervous diseases, disorders of copper transporters, and other diseases were summarized. Finally, we discussed the application prospects of copper isotopic analysis in environmental health research. Until now, the application of stable copper isotopic analysis in environmental health is still in the initial stage, and there still exist many difficulties and challenges. We primarily list four main difficulties and challenges in future studies, including high-throughput sample analysis, background population investigation, combination of other clinical indicators, and combination of multiple omics techniques. As an important theory of water ecological protection and restoration, fish habitat health assessment has always been the focus of research, but there is a lack of in-depth research on quantitative comprehensive assessment. By taking 5 typical deep-pool habitats in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River as examples, this paper establishes a quantitative evaluation system of fish habitat health status. Based on the habitat health assessment (primary index) of the typical deep pool in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, the study is divided into habitat environment and habitat function (secondary index), covering 5 tertiary indexes (water quality, biological environment, hydrological environment, fish resource status, habitat quality) and 29 quaternary indexes. A mathematical model for comprehensive assessment of habitat health is built based on entropy weight method. The typical habitat health status is characterized by comprehensive health indicator (p), and the health status of the habitat is evaluated comprehensively. The results show that one of typical deep pool habitatin the upper reaches of Yangtze River is in a very healthy state with a health grade of I . The evaluation of the three places is II level, in the health state. A site is rated as level III, in the sub-health state, and no healthy or poor tide point. On the whole, the typical habitat in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River is basically in health state, and shows strong spatial heterogeneity. The evaluation results objectively reflect the health status of the typical habitat in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River to a certain extent. Finally, according to the scoring grades, the urgent problems in the fish habitat ecosystem in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River are discussed, and the countermeasures and suggestions for habitat restoration are put forward. A series of debates about health, ecology, and livestock production have been erupted in Taiwanese society since August 2020, following a decision by Taiwan's government to allow the importation of pork containing ractopamine from the United States. It becomes necessary to understand how the academic research results on ractopamine have been quoted and interpreted as the basis for discussing the debates. In this systematic review of literature along with bibliometrics, we designed a coding scheme for judging the positive and negative effects of ractopamine on health and ecology reported in the academic papers. A total of 511 articles were found in the Scopus between 2000 and 2020. According to the literature review, human health and ecological concerns are not the focus of mainstream academia. The analyses reveal that the positions of academic communities are obviously divided and lack consensus on the health and ecological stance of ractopamine. The mutual use of systematic literature review and bibliometrics can effectively explore the research characteristics of a huge amount of academic literature with limited time and research manpower, create a common knowledge base for stakeholders, and practice low-cost democratic participation in science and technology issues. This research suggests that for any controversial and risk-related technology policies, or in the early stages of policy discussion, a large-scale academic literature review should be conducted by a third-party organization in order to achieve transparent governance.
