AMPs is widely found in animals and plants. AMPs is a kind of small peptide composed of about 12~50 amino acids produced by process of transcription and translation of special genes in body cells, which is an important part of the body's innate immunity and constitutes the first line of defense of the body against pathogenic microorganisms. AMPs has a wide range of distribution, broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, not easy to produce drug resistance, high thermal stability, antiviral and other effects. AMPs as a feed additives is widely used in poultry disease control and prevention, immunity enhancement, improve intestinal flora, poultry growth performance and many aspect. The paper elaborates the types of AMPs, anti-bacterial effects, anti-viral effects, disease prevention and control, improvement of intestinal flora and improvement of poultry growth performance, to provide reference for the later research and application of AMPs.
